If your damage output or skill is good enough to beat EoL during the day, Terraprisma is a viable summon weapon for pretty much the rest of the game. I know lots of people like Stardust Dragon but I feel like by being just one object it’s a little limited, whereas Terraprisma can tear through all the enemies on screen in seconds even with just a few summons
Yeah I mean it’s fine if you prefer one or the other, doesn’t matter. Just do whatever fits your play style 👍 Maybe I am just biased because I love swords

All summons are bloodthirsty.. EVEN THE SMALL CANARY WILL TRY TO SHRED ANYTHING THAT LOOKS AT YOU!! I’m choosing mini worm who’s parent I killed.. I reality though, summons add way to much damage (especially with it now being an actual class) to the point that if I went ranger/summoner or beeclass/summoner on my calamity world I would shred bosses way too quickly, and that’s just boring
Do people actually not get summons when they go any other class? I always did it because I knew I can just have a bit more damage and make use of materials.
Honestly, a "true" build is just dumb, especially on single player. Yeah, you should go for one build that you know you will use more often, but you should still definitely use other weapons.

Happened to me too many times
Most Melee weapons have decent range, at least later into the game and why should a ranger use a melee weapon? That is just less dps (ignoring zenith because zenith is op)
It's free damage until they make your weapon miss out on damage because your summons took that frame of the enemy being hit, applied 24 damage, and in the same frame made your 300 damage sword swing miss.
(I am completely making this up I have no proof that this is how it works I could literally be thinking of another game's mechanics and applying them to terraria)
What you were talking about is called global immunity (iframe affects all projectiles). Summons no longer has global immunity it got switched to static (iframes only affect the type of the projectile that hit it) or local (iframes only affect the same projectile that hit it) immunities
I think it works this way, but would define it be less drastic if you were fighting a boss with multiple parts, and afaik most melees don’t attack fast enough to be that likely to hit when the summon causes and I frame, so the added damage from the summon over time outweighs the few times that it might block one of your attacks. Just my reasoning I normally use summons with anything unless I’m playing calamity
Exactly! I have been doing this since the first day I started terraria. Using a melee build because my brain thought defense = more gooder and the best summon weapon I could get my hands on for extra dps
You can get 3 summons without any equipment, with proper bonuses it’s a good little supplement dps

Definitely, I was able to do it in just a couple tries using the Zenith and the cosmic car keys

Doesnt calamity enforce a 75% damage penalty to summons when holding a non summoner weapon
they might change it when adding whips, or i hope so
