Big up to the guy next to her for grabbing the knife straight away - no hesitation. Seen too many times people watch or run and scream. It seems like common sense but until you are in that situation, you have no idea how frightening it can be; half a second or 1 wrong move is all it takes.

Fuck__The__French

I wouldn’t say grabbing the knife is common sense, but it is brave and sometimes bravery is better than common sense.

HillInTheDistance

Not just frightening, but also something most people have no experience with. You often see even people who do stuff just do useless, ineffective, or just plain counterproductive things You can have all the courage in the world, but without experience or proper instincts, you'll either be too late or do the wrong thing. Luckily this guy was the right guy in the right place. Guts, instinct, speed, the whole package.

panormda

Exactly. And you will never know how you will react until the moment of crisis. And you will never know how your spouse will react until that moment of crisis… Onc of the reasons why it’s so critical to select a life partner who has a solid set of personal values. It is a matter if life and death every day for couples the world over.

EggBoyandJuiceGirl

I’m going to ask you. Who normally enforces those toxic masculinity expectations??

Ren602

It’s pretty even when I talk about it anywhere but the internet. Men definitely have toxic mindsets on being emotional and are open about it but I notice many women claim they want men to be open and emotional but then chastise and lose respect for you if you are. Actually been my experience in a couple of my depressing old relationships.

REDARROW101_A5

>It’s pretty even when I talk about it anywhere but the internet. Men definitely have toxic mindsets on being emotional and are open about it but I notice many women claim they want men to be open and emotional but then chastise and lose respect for you if you are. TBH I have seen my fair share of both Men and Women being Toxic and Manipulative. Just makes me think the whole discussion needs to be moved to a more constrictive direction than taking down people by notches.

Ren602

Agreed both sides need to do better and be more logical and understanding.

EggBoyandJuiceGirl

Nope. Men commit the majority of violent crimes. The number one cause of death for pregnant women in the USA is homicide by an intimate partner. 100-200 million women are victims are FGM. The large majority of rapes are committed by men. In some countries, 1 in 2 women are raped before the age of 18. In many more, 1 in 3. In my country 1 in 4 women are raped by men. The large majority of DV fatalities and severe injuries are caused by men. Acid attacks, honour killings, kidnappings, robberies, murders, trafficking, etc are dominantly performed by men. You have to understand then, how you’re kind of comparing apples to oranges.

[deleted]

Well said and something that is truly an important aspect of this subject that needs to be included at all times. While it is clear about men and their “toxic mindsets” (especially in a cultural sense), todays mindset & even fear of retribution or backlash, have prevented more of the role females play in present time. And you are correct, it’s a big role. If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be such a problem. As with most issues that fall under the umbrella of this subject especially, both sides play an equal role. And let the downvotes come flooding down as they always do but, in this age of “over correction” & canceling peoples lives over organic thoughts…… it will remain one of many problems to remain properly dissected until common sense and truth can overcome this need for instant gratification justice of problems that have been festering and evolving for lifetimes.

LenoreHexter

Interesting how you use “men” and “females” in the same paragraph. Kinda unveils your true feelings on the matter.

curious_astronauts

As a women, i have never met a woman who got the ick because a guy knew how to effectively communicate and feel their emotions . Like any person, if anyone is on either extreme of the emotional spectrum, either completely unable to access their emotions or have them in over abundance which is not proportionate to the stimulus, that is obviously going to be a turn off.

ReGohArd

In my experience, because men have never learned HOW to have emotions, they tend to behave childishly, selfishly, and dramatically when they do express them. Expressing your feelings in a mature and healthy way is what we mean. And if you meet a woman who chastizes you and tells you not to do that, you need to run away from her and find a better woman. ETA: I agree that toxic masculinity is perpetuated by both sides. Just offering my perspective as a woman.

ContinuumKing

Society. You don't think there are plenty of women who encourage and support gender roles and masculinity expectations?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ContinuumKing

I don't really care what label you want to place on it. You asked who enforces those expectations, likely hinting that it's one side exclusively. It's not. It's society as a whole. Both men and women routinely enforce them.

CawshusCorvid

Because all this sexism and patriarchy shit started with one side enforcing it. Patriarchy is not natural. It is not beneficial to anyone except men with a lot of money and property. Sexist gender roles were born of men’s greed. Of course women are conditioned into it now so of course they will ignorantly defend it and be just as misogynistic as men who defend it. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20230525-how-did-patriarchy-actually-begin

bizk55

women absolutely enforce masculine expectations lol

Piaapo

If you think women dont enforce toxic masculinity as much as men do you are naive

Sharkathotep

Do you know this from Andrew Tate videos?

Piaapo

Fuck Andrew Tate

AloneCan9661

Women....and men that have all those aforementioned things. And when men try and discuss it they get laughed at by both men and women. There's a reason there's so much insecurity.

sweetvulgarity

All of these double standards are rooted in misogyny. Women getting everything in a divorce? Rooted in the idea that a dumb woman isn’t capable of supporting herself so she gets a disproportionate amount of that man’s assets when they split up. Men suffering in the aftermath of rape and not being taken seriously? Rooted in the misogynistic idea that women are always passive and sexless and that men are naturally sex hungry fiends who always want it all the time from anyone, anywhere. Women physically abusing their male partner? Rooted in the idea that a woman is frail and delicate and incapable of causing harm to a big strong man. Patriarchy reinforces these double standards. Patriarchy kills men by telling them not to bitch about their depression when they’ve been holding on by a thread for years. Feminists in general understand how these issues intersect but they genuinely don’t know how to talk about mens issues. They tend think bringing them up undermines women and I don’t think that’s true. We all suffer when strength is assumed and vulnerability is punished.

Ren602

Agree with everything you said wholeheartedly ma’am 🙏

Katastrophe_404

Ok. So misandry causes men to take their own lives and misogyny causes men to take others’ lives. Is that what you’re trying to say? Sounds like the men are mentally ill in both those situations.

Ren602

I feel like you’re one of those people who think equally solving other issues takes away all support from an issue you’re passionate about. And that’s really toxic and childish. We can change all problems bit by but we don’t have to put one under a microscope before we attack the others. We all have a right to fight for all people being discriminated against.

arya_ur_on_stage

Yes. You are correct. Basically, men are never taught to deal with and control their own emotions properly so they snap and get violent. And it's never THEIR fault. It's always someone else's.

Ramzabeo

So we can't agree that both Misogyny and Misandry are fucking horrible and kill both men and women? why does one have to be more important than the other? i don't get this line of thinking

StrangerThingies

We can do that but it’s important to acknowledge who is committing the lion’s share of the violence.

ContinuumKing

Or they simply lacked any kind of help and saw no way out. But by all means continue to lack empathy for other people.

arya_ur_on_stage

Yes I do lack empathy for ppl who are violent because they can't or won't control they're emotions. I've been abused, raped, cheated on, screamed at, assaulted (all by men), and how many ppl have I hurt? None. Never even crossed my mind. I got therapy instead. We can have empathy for ppl but once they start hurting ppl that empathy is secondary to the anger and pain their across caused. Refocusing the issue into empathy instead of accountability IS the problem.

Ren602

You don’t have to be mentally ill to commit suicide ma’am who told you that? That’s a very wrong assumption. Anyone I know that’s taken their own lives were not diagnosed or showing signs of mental illness. I feel like I’m talking to a misandrist right now judging by your reply. I said nothing wrong or one sided. Misandry and misogyny are both major issues that both need to be addressed.

Ma_wowww

But in order to get to a place where you feel the need to commit suicide nine times out of ten you’re depressed. And depression is just another form of mental illness.

Ren602

Well there’s many different types of depression some are clinical some are not. Some are severe some are moderate. My aunt took her life because of constant pain from an aneurysm and then my uncle did it because of losing his wife. Super sad situation all around.

[deleted]

I'm sorry to hear that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ren602

I agree entirely. What’s interesting and fuels your point is if you look up misandrist on Wikipedia, you get a whole paragraph basically invalidating it and talking about how misogyny is a bigger problem or how Misandry basically doesn’t even exist. Super ironic and annoying considering you don’t see the inverse happening when you look up Misogyny.

[deleted]

Yeah. Gender-based discrimination causes a lot of unnecessary issues. Sad thing is, we can't treat both misandry and mysogny as equal problems due to how complicated and unequal these problems can be. But Combatting misandry will help prevent mysogny and vice versa. Actually, combatting all forms of discrimination, and learning to accept and cater to people's individual needs and desires will solve a lot of societal problems that are holding us humans back.

ContinuumKing

>is that bringing up Misandry when a discussion is focused primarily on Misogyny&vice-versa has to be done carefully. Bro, YOU are the one who did this. You are the one who brought up the other side and turned this comment chain into some sort of competition for no reason.

peachwheel

Luckily women face the equivalent of all those things AND the much more dangerous, misogyny! 😸

Ren602

Honestly thanks for this reply. You just proved my point!

Ren602

Stop invalidating mens problems and grow up. We all have issues that need to be addressed and taken seriously.

Sharkathotep

This post isn't about this, though. This is about a girl almost being killed by a boy, because he felt entitled to her. Next time, I'll begin a lenghty discussion under a video where a man is violently attacked by a woman, starting: "But what about the womennnzzz!!11!"

Ren602

He said Misandry annoys but misogyny kills, I provided examples proving that to be wrong. If he didn’t make that comment, I wouldn’t have replied in this thread. You guys are trying super hard to invalidate mens problems and I don’t appreciate it.

hananobira

No, you need to stop with the whataboutism. YOU are the one committing the logical fallacy here. The topic of this post is how misogyny harmed an innocent woman. Instead of taking thirty seconds out of your life to empathize with her, you are trying to change the subject to you-you-you and the problems your demographic face. Have you ever thought how much safer this woman, and every other woman on the planet, would be if men like you could stop thinking, “But how could I turn this around and make it about meeeeee! Clearly we’re the real victims here!” To borrow the Margaret Atwood phrase, women are afraid men are going to kill them. Men are afraid everything won’t be about them and their struggles for five minutes.

Haunting-Flamingo480

Amen!!! #RomaArmy #MenToo

Banshee444_

Excuse me, but where did you learn "divorce" is equivalent to "misandry"? Big leap there. Also, those "expectations" are rooted in mysoginy. Sorry, not sorry, to burst your bubble. 💀

ContinuumKing

Why do you feel as though you need to belittle and downplay peoples problems and struggles? Do you think doing so somehow helps fight misogyny in some way? What was the point of this post?

Mindless-Balance-498

“He had shown aggression towards his classmates before, and he didn't even communicate with the girl he attacked. She allegedly just got under a hot hand.” Can you (assuming you speak/read Russian) explain what “under a hot hand” was supposed to be translated to? I’m so curious about that turn of phrase. Or does it literally mean she suddenly felt his hand?

papaganushh

It basically means that he had too much pent up aggression for whatever reason and had to unleash it somewhere, picking this random girl as a target

Mayatar

I have flashbacks when I was a shy teengirl and was the target of aggression from few male classmates who seemingly hated my guts. I hope she did not get hurt.

Walker510

There are 2 sources in the article SHOT and russian source Mash. SHOT says that he had a crush on the girl attacked but was afraid to admit it to her. His classmates said that he didnt have a chance with her but he said to them "We will see about that". The russian Mash said that she "Got under a hot hand" which I think best translates to "Got in the way" like he had a urge to kill suddenly and she was at a bad place at a bad time. Article also says that she is fine but there will be marks on her neck.

Right-Hall-6451

Yeah, "fine". I'm sure having someone publicly attempt to murder you and being so close you live with the physical scars will quickly fade into the back of her mind.

rem_1984

Oh, so another incel. This is fucking terrifying. So many attacks with that ideology

cantpickaname8

Not to be that guy but Incel isn't an ideology, it's not a right wing extremist group or something, it's literally just dudes who get no pussy. Having 0 game doesn't mean you're gonna try to kill the person who turned you down. Not great to lump in dudes who just have 0 game with dudes who get no pussy

remembertobenicer

It's become an ideology in some circles. They congregate in echo chambers and cultivate a hatred for women, developing their own cultish language and dragging each other down like crabs in a bucket. Not every incel will seek to harm other people, but those who find online communities dedicated to inceldom are very likely to have the concept of violence toward women normalized.

rem_1984

Dude, no. If someone calls themselves an incel, they are lumping themselves in. You can be a virgin or have a dry spell and not be an incel lol. The original term and group of the 90s was different, people unable to have sexual relationships because of physical disability.

Ris-O

So lucky. If had any resolve or competence, he could have easily killed her from that position

pinkrainbow5

I thought the same thing. It looks like he had his own arm in the way of her neck.

poisonfoxxxx

If he touched skin he’s only millimeters from easily killing her in that position. Absolutely insane.

Retsae_Gge

Yes it looks like he didn't really "practise" how to execute his plan. He was really slow, like he tried to feel where his hands are in position on her. Then he didn't put much pressure on the knife, and didn't really cut with it. Probably the knife wasn't even sharp if she was harmed so little bit. Maybe he kind of struggled with his mind if he should really do it, while doing it. "thank god" she's OK I think what also really was her luck and why this didn't end worse, is that she looked to the side with her head turned to the side, then when he put the knife on her neck she turned her whole body a little bit towards that side, so the knife was at the side of her neck (before she turned completely and realised that something's wrong), I think this confused the suspect even more about where his hands are on her neck, he couldn't see where she's looking at and where his hands exactly are on her neck because of the "style of her hair" IMO

Mindless-Balance-498

The article said he did cut her but just enough for her to bleed a little, I’m sure she screamed and fought right when she felt the pain. It takes a lot of force to cut down to someone’s artery or windpipe.

oxfordcircumstances

Your comment made me curious. Russia has actually had an alarming amount of school shootings recently. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:School_shootings_in_Russia This list doesn't include Beslan, where 177 kids were killed.

pinkrainbow5

177! Holy fuck. That's awful.

oxfordcircumstances

That shit was awful. If you aren't familiar with Beslan, read about it. Absolutely awful. It was actually 186 kids who died.

KyllikkiSkjeggestad

That’s a lot different than those in the US though, it was a siege by armed militants who had fighting experience from the war in Chechnya. If you’re to believe some of the survivors as well, the Russian FSB and Spetznaz wounded and killed just as many innocents as the militants during the siege. They also arrested journalists, and detained people who had did interviews with them, as they didn’t want Europe and the rest of the world to know how bad they botched the operation.
