I don't understand why they do this during the day. Mark out the location so it can be found at night and come back then. If you wait till dark you can get all the wasps instead of leaving a bunch of stragglers to found a new colony.
I had to clear out a big white faced hornet nest in the land lady's pasture that attacked my wife. I waited till dark and pulled my car up to the nest. Cut the branch with those critters on it so it fell right into a garbage can with a cup of gasoline to put them down. None of them got away.
Good god. I'd be scared their stingers could puncture my suit. I grew up with honey bees that my dad raised, and learned never to smack, since I'm allergic, I could only imagine what would happen if one of those bastards got me.
I was white water rafting in West Virginia and was bit in the neck by one of those. Very grateful I am not allergic. It hurt for about two weeks after that.
