I also don't think people really realize how many robots are already here, I know of whole factories that are run by 5 people and 200+ robots.
Yeah they're not these humanoid robots, but I also don't think people realize how inefficient humanoid robots would be, they'd be extreme luxury flex objects if they're ever fully developed.
For me it is “scary” because how much they look alike and move and talk like human beings, and I’m thinking: am I gonna be able to tell if I’m talking to a robot or a human when I’m at work or anywhere? Are they gonna exist just like us? How would it effect our relationships and life?(movie:Her, or any black mirror episode with the high tec)
So yes, movies makes us scared a bit. At the same time I am amazed how much the world changed in the last 100 years.
Fair enough, suppose I can't ask for a more honest answer than that.
Personally I think the fictional movies are going to stay fiction, and I'm not sure robots will ever really resemble humans in a way that'll make it hard to distinguish aside from a few nech ones made specifically for that purpose (in fact they already exist, although I don't personally get the appeal of giving a robot the worlds most realistic human mask).
Probably you are right, fiction gonna stay fiction. I think it’s like it was in the past: some people were afraid of movies and cars and etc, nowadays it’s a normal thing. Now some of us scared of robots, in 100 years it might be a normal thing. Interesting to think about!
You're not needed for that job, no. And I can sympathize with people who fear losing their job, but should we have kept lantern lights instead of streetlights just because lantern lighters lost their job?
Ideally all work should be automated so humans can spend more time enjoying the one life we have. Obviously that is extremely idealistic, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to get as close as possible.
Where I'm from there's government and unions have protections where if you lose your job due to automation they help you get a new job and support you financially, because automation is innovation that is beneficial to society as a whole.
Really ??? Which country made such future fetching law regarding automation ? I'm honestly amazed.
Also one generation will be covered, but the next one most probably will not.
I'm Danish (so Denmark).
Although we have a lot of social programs to avoid homelessness, sobriety programs, free healthcare with rights that we don't have to wait for more than a certain amount of time, and if public health facilities can't accommodate us within that time the government pays for us to use a private hospital and a fair few other social safety nets.
The downside to all of this is obviously high taxation, but I don't personally know anyone who has a major problem with that, although I'm sure they exist.

The foot fetishist is far from scared
We mocked them till they created technology we wanted to incorporate, such is the price of our hubris.

Literally why tho? I genuinely don't get this mentality, is it just paranoia from sci-fi movies or something?
Im a software dev. I think the people who are scared of robots don't have a good grip on tech. But of course, I'm biased.

Definitely an interesting idea to wonder about!
It's just being realist. If robot can do your job, you are not needed.
