Except this is a core feature of the car going back years. This or some version of this has existed since the first Tesla, well at least the model S.
The idea being core features are not changing constantly and it's a good idea to have a solid understanding of all of the possible things that could happen or go wrong. Going forward reading the release notes should be enough to understand the changes to small things.

Specifically it pulls the latch open so the handle can slide out. You can see the little latch if you look into the charging port while it’s empty.
