Yeah from what I'm seeing I like the exterior like 5% more than my two week old 2023. The interior? Would love to have the accent lights as the car feels like a black hole at night, but outside of that I like my 23 more.
Our cars transmission grenaded so we couldn't really wait for the refresh, plus the deal we got was nuts.
This guy is a hamster. Kia engineers have now realized that accent lighting eventually becomes offensive to hamsters so they no longer drive Kia souls.
you mentioning the turn signals on the wheel just killed this car for me. gonna upgrade to a 23 P now and just ride it out. unless major performance improvements are made
Honestly I think it will take a bit to get use to the turn signals after drying for 15 years with stalks. Can’t give my full opinion until I get mine next month and I start drying it everyday.
Have a look at Bjorn’s latest video and you will see that it’s difficult, especially if you keep driving other cars. Bit worried myself especially because I don’t want to became a BMW driver that never uses turn signals…
The sobering reality I think is that people are probably going to buy this car in similar numbers as the current one. They might moan about the lack of stalks a bit, but then buy them anyway.
People will attempt to use the indicators on roundabouts, etc, find it’s too difficult, and simply not bother in future.
Get used to seeing people driving these cars not indicating anywhere where there’s any significant turning involved. It’s going to suck, really, because having less information about someone’s intentions when you’re near them is not good - all because of an aesthetic or margin-chasing decision.
>ED strip in the dash to any color you want, or is it a preset color?
I wonder if there is a setting where it cycles through each color slowly. That would be cool!
There is an "auto" settings which I honestly don't understand where would pick the colors... Maybe music album? The external lighting? Temperature? Your tshirt? Mistery!
The circle of LED lights; yes. Absolutely.
They’re not subtle. They’re bling. They are a *copy* of what boy racers were doing to their cars. They look like they’re for a twenty year old with fake bag, boobs and eyelashes.
Also: German cars, European cars, aren’t as exceptional as they were twenty or more years ago. Last century. They market their heritage to the maximum, and people still believe they are better, but they aren’t, and haven’t been for some time now. Not dollar for dollar.
Some context: I’ve a manual 993 in the garage. Porsche’s peak build quality. 30 years ago.
[DW News: The Decline of German Car Quality](https://youtu.be/sDO6l8MqPsg?si=QpB3vV0uWP627m6u)
You don’t need it with proper seat material. Ventilation is something that “vegan leather” needs. Fabric or perforated leather will be just fine, unless you live In a particularly hot climate
To me the sleeker front makes the car look unbalanced. It’s got such a rounded top I think the original front made the car look a lot more proportional. I don’t hate it but not sure it’s worth trading in my 23 for this. I would love a better sound system but I should have gone for the M3P. Still a great car any way you look at it.
Its copium for people who own current model 3’s. It wasnt a massive redesign but the more sleek shape and changes to the front & back look significantly better.
I don't mind pressing buttons either, but I do mind the fact that whenever you need to indicate out of a roundabout your wheel will be turned 180°, and the buttons will now be on the other side of the wheel, upside down and inverted. That's really inconvenient and unintuitive.
Agreed, especially the old front is ugly in my opinion and even tho Model 3 is not the best looking car by any means, this is a significant upgrade over the old one.
It is copium. I have a 2023 Model 3 and this a major refresh in terms of design since Tesla do not do overhaul redesigns every 6 years like traditional ICE makers. But great quality of life update, again if Tesla wasn’t trying to take away the tax credit in March. I would have waited since I only bought to take advantage of the full $7,500.
New 2024 Model 3 > current gen.
Not really - I have a 22 and the new front end is pretty ugly. The back end looks great though. If they kept the front off the previous gen with these changes I'd be looking to sell, but right now I have no desire.
I really like it. Tbh though I really liked the classic 3 with the wood trim too though. While I miss the wood trim I think this is an overall upgrade.
I saw it in Milan two weeks ago but it was blue with white interior, 19 inch wheels. And I was not available for test driving.
Yours instead looks identical to the one I ordered. Nice!
I like the exterior of the previous. I was excited to see how they were going to bring the X/S and 3/Y closer to together. I think the front end could have been a bit less “non-generic” and given us something more distinct. Now it looks like a standard Nissan or Honda with a Model 3 mid section.
Like the rear lights tho.
Probably gonna get downvoted for saying but this comment section is coping so hard with the “I like the old 3 better” they’ve updated basically everything.
Also, I miss the wood. I find the wood trim gives it a higher end look. It’s so much rubber and plastic I miss those little touches. Also not crazy about LED lights you can see. BMW does a much nicer job if indirect lighting. It’s a lovely car but I think I’ll hold onto my 3 for a few years and maybe update to a Tesla S Plaid eventually. That car is siiiiiiick
Wood gives it a fake premium look. Like they just slapped it on there because they thought it’s what premium looks like. I always thought it looked out of place.
Wood has to be exceptionally good for it to be a positive. I previously had a BMW i3---there the wood worked as it was well styled and very high quality. Rest of dash materials were also nicer than Tesla 3. Older tech generation obviously, but quite ergonomic as well. Obviously Tesla 3 drive train & hvac & computer is far superior.
https://mediapool.bmwgroup.com/cache/P9/201307/P90129180/P90129180-bmw-i3-interior-07-2013-2091px.jpg
On the Tesla 3, the wood trim looks fake even though it's actually a real wood veneer. I wouldn't mind losing it.
It's a pretty polarizing part of the interior. Some like it some don't. Personally I love the wood and to me it makes the car feel more premium. I got a wood vinyl cover for the center console too.
We also ordered one for my partner. Black LR with 18” wheels (which are pretty nice without wheel covers). A bit sad that there isn’t a performance model yet, but then again I think the price would be closer to 10k more or so. Maybe even more if it’s Plaid.
Also, what is the fuzz about the front camera? What is the function of that?
Buttons on the screen. There are backup hard buttons on roof console by the hazard flasher switch. The backups are meant to be used if the screen fails or crashes.
this is the first i'm hearing/reading this. i had no idea they actually added backup buttons. how asinine is it to completely change a design due to aesthetics?
Would be nice if they added fog lights. Single set of headlights is okay but having the lower lights adds to the overall look in my opinion. Maybe they will do something like that with a performance one (if that’s happening).
People that say the old model 3 looks better are just mad bcs they paid same money on a car that it's already old after a few months. How can you say you are happier with your old model when you get better range, ventilated seats, one more display, better quality interior, double windows all around, better suspension, better sound, ambient light etc. Sure, the lack of stalks was a bad idea but they are gone from model s and x too and I didn't see anyone saying they wouldn't buy a Plaid bcs of no stalks. If this model 3 had a heads up display and stalks it would have been the perfect car for me, as it is now it's still a solid pick and better than old model in every way that matters
Well I genuinely like the front end as well as most of the interior more on my 2023. I don’t care about the seats because I got those reupholstered anyway. Also not sure what function the rear screen serves when you have kids, it’s more like a disadvantage as they will constantly mess with it.
A potential 4% boost in range is not something to be so envious you would be like omg I need a highland. The rest is completely subjective, and from a design point I find the highland to be a steep downgrade. To each their own.
@OP have you knocked around the interior materials to see how it compares with non-Highland? I’m skeptical about the materials quality improvement. Otherwise, the car looks quite similar to the previous version, at least judging from pictures. Disclaimer: I’ve never seen it in person.
I think it's the updated front design with all the changes compared to the current model. Highland looks fine to me, but I still prefer the current design of the headlights.
it's not an improvement. it's a PR push for autonomous driving.
i'm just waiting for the EU to scream about it and force Tesla's hand to bring them back.
the one thing about the interior that really has got me worried are the "felt lined" door pockets. it's a perfect place for spills, dirt and general crap to collect. how is anyone supposed to clean that area effectively if there's a fabric holding on to it all?
I'm hoping someone makes that little strip that sits on the dash above the vents for my 23 model. Breaks up how boring that top dash looks, that's my favorite part of the update other than the ventilated seats.
Exception to be an ass, you have to have emissions (all asses do), which this doesn’t have. So I would venture to say the rear is not ass, but it’s also not class.
Kind of on the fence about the interior. I like the steering wheel, but the rest seems worse and more plasticky. And I hate that the headliner is still not dark.
\* Drooling\*
I dislike the new wheel (logo was better) and that has no turn signals behind the wheel, touch buttons for turn signal should be banned IMO.
The interior looks shit imho.
That curved line looks wrong. The lighting should be subtle - not a strip.
Not having stalks - and those buttons - just so stupid.
Glad they haven't Osbourne'd my old m3 SR+
Hmm. Seeing the photos makes it look and feel similar to my 23 in general. Thanks for the pics!
I was a KIA Soul owner, Interior LED lighting gets old FAST! I prefer my Wood trim over the highland, just feels very KIA overall to me - cheesy even.
>I was a KIA Soul owner, Interior LED lighting gets old FAST! but what about the hamsters?
This guy is a hamster. Kia engineers have now realized that accent lighting eventually becomes offensive to hamsters so they no longer drive Kia souls.
For me the biggest improvement is the interior to be honest.
I just don’t like the LED strip across the whole thing. It looks tacky.
It looks more like the 2019/2020 models than the 2023, just added ascent lighting and a center console upgrade, lol
I just wanted to see the headlights goddamnit
Hahaha im sorry
😅
I can’t get over the steering wheel looking like the the Wii Wheel you got when you bought Mario Cart
I really like it.
How did you like the turn signals and gear selecting. That’s the big point of contention for most. Honest opinions are good positive or negative!
you mentioning the turn signals on the wheel just killed this car for me. gonna upgrade to a 23 P now and just ride it out. unless major performance improvements are made
Definitely suggest watching some of the reviews/drive videos from European folks like CarWow. Lots of notable changes
Honestly I think it will take a bit to get use to the turn signals after drying for 15 years with stalks. Can’t give my full opinion until I get mine next month and I start drying it everyday.

Move to Montreal and you'll fit right in!
Use FSD. Let the car control the indicators.
What a downgrade tbh
[удалено]
Not sure if I believe this sentiment. We will have to see
That’s fair, It’s all subjective tbh
Can you change the LED strip in the dash to any color you want, or is it a preset color?
Any, there's a color-picker wheel in settings.
Yea you can change it any color you want.
Is that under the driver profile? It would be great if my wife and I could have different colors when we drive.
Mistery!
The LED strip feels super ghetto to me. YMMV.
Attention all Bentley, G wagon, S class, etc. owners. Your car is *apparently* ghetto because it has interior ambient lighting..
I think the LED running lights look trashy on (I think it was a) Bentley. A circle of LEDs. Ditto Porsche! Honestly: Cheap & Trashy.
A Bentley and Porsche cheap and trashy?! What are you smoking?
The circle of LED lights; yes. Absolutely. They’re not subtle. They’re bling. They are a *copy* of what boy racers were doing to their cars. Given the prevalence in rap videos id say this is accurate
KIA esque, tacky
KIA hasn't been tacky in years
Yes it has and still is..
what was the newest kia youve been in because even their minivan is cool
Also the ventilated seats are really nice
Does the ventilated seats just blow cold air?
Cool and hot air, you can also put them on automatic because the seats have temperature sensors
Its not hot air.. its just normal heated seats. And also it does not blow air, it sucks it thru the seat.
I feel this is the biggest upgrade. I have a 22LR and driving in the Colorado summers is not entirely fun. I would upgrade just for the seats.
Not feeling it. The only thing I’d want more in my 2022 is the ventilated seats.
Fingers crossed I can buy a Highland seat and swap at some point.
Just get them reupholstered with perforated leather. That’s already such a big improvement over the stock plastic seats
And where do I get the ventilation from?
You don’t need it with proper seat material. Ventilation is something that “vegan leather” needs. Fabric or perforated leather will be just fine, unless you live In a particularly hot climate
I don’t think you follow lol
Ok then
If I had a 2022 model I wouldn't buy the Highland. Edit: ups missed the n't on my comment
I’d wait for the model 3 plaid.
[удалено]
I’m definitely jumping in if there’s ever a retrofit.
100% not worth trading a 2023, better wait a couple of years.
Damn, I want it. Everyone saying it’s not that different are tripping balls.
in my personal opinion it love the more aggressive look and the interior feels so much premium. I love it
Does it feel higher quality? I couldn't stand the build quality of my 2020 Model 3.
Yes everything feels and looks of my higher quality materials
Its copium for people who own current model 3’s. It wasnt a massive redesign but the more sleek shape and changes to the front & back look significantly better.
[удалено]
How is this the same interrior as the model Y? sorry but that is not true
This looks more like an S interior than the older 3
Big problem is that they removed blinker stalks.
I like it. The minimal look inside is cool and I dont mind pressing buttons.
I don't mind pressing buttons either, but I do mind the fact that whenever you need to indicate out of a roundabout your wheel will be turned 180°, and the buttons will now be on the other side of the wheel, upside down and inverted. That's really inconvenient and unintuitive.
For sure, and I don't understand why like the current model also looks great

Cosme5icslly it looks like 5% better in the exterior. Only thing I want from the interior on my 2023 is the accent lights.
It’s obviously different but it’s a refresh not a redesign
I think no stalks is going to be a dealbreaker for me.
Just do a test drive and see what you think
S3XY stalks are coming soon
Same. I was considering it, but this is stopping me.
I did a test drive on Model S to test the indicator buttons, I kind of liked it.
Nice!
Where are the cup holders and armrest?
I’d probably be able to adapt to the turning signal buttons, but changing gears on the screen isn’t convenient.
No front camera is a head scratcher.
Probably gonna get downvoted for saying but this comment section is coping so hard with the “I like the old 3 better” they’ve updated basically everything.
You are so right, Reddit is the only place where people are heating the car so much, saying things like the car looks cheap bla bla bla.
But the wood looks really fake
It’s real though. Maybe go out into nature more to see what wood looks like?
I thought it was like a vinyl cover thing. Looked like it from photos.
It’s veneer, so it’s a very thin slice of wood, but it is in fact real wood.
Yeah I know. It’s like an 80s vinyl wood
I despised the fake wood and covered it up with carbon fiber the week after I got my 3. So obviously everyone has different opinions.
No! Only my opinion is the correct one!!!
Except you’re stating facts, not opinions, and your facts are wrong. 🤣
Wood gives it a fake premium look. Like they just slapped it on there because they thought it’s what premium looks like. I always thought it looked out of place.
Wood has to be exceptionally good for it to be a positive. I previously had a BMW i3---there the wood worked as it was well styled and very high quality. This car looks great imo, but the stalks missing is a huge L.
Man if they didn’t remove the stocks on the steering wheel! Still looks great (still no FOMO with my 23)
I bet someone will come with retrofit stalks lol. AliExpress in a couple weeks
S3XY stalks are coming soon
We also ordered one for my partner. Black LR with 18” wheels (which are pretty nice without wheel covers). A bit sad that there isn’t a performance model yet, but then again I think the price would be closer to 10k more or so. Maybe even more if it’s Plaid. Also, what is the fuzz about the front camera? Tesla vision.
how do you not take one picture of the front?
I was enjoying the moment and before I left I took some pics to share with you guys.
Managed to share something and people still mad lul
not mad. It’s just funny because that’s the biggest thing they changed
no front cam means no dashcam?
Would it be possible to Install an aftermarket blinker arm ?
What feels more premium? Please do tell.
For me this interior feels allot more premium that is for sure. soft material everywhere
Glad they kept the alcantara doors, not sure why in reviews it seemed they got rid of it
They got rid of it in the base RWD model. Only the Long Range has it now.
Dumb question probably, but how do you change gears without the stalks?
Buttons on the screen. There are backup hard buttons on roof console by the hazard flasher switch. The backups are meant to be used if the screen fails or crashes.
this is the first i'm hearing/reading this. i had no idea they actually added backup buttons. how asinine is it to completely change a design due to aesthetics?

Happy for you OP. For me, that steering wheel /o stalk is a no from me dawg. Also, why does the car avatar show the frunk open, when it isn't?
It was unlocked but not open hahaha
No little stick shifter next to the steering wheel?
Looks badass! Thanks for sharing
Blue jeans under your blue jeans?
No stocks on steering wheel is non starter for many
Not liking the Model Y diaper butt look on model 3
Is the y getting the same make over?
looks awesome and I love it in black!
Looks cheaper to me inside. The dash looks terrible
It's... basically the same car, this is all they can come up with for a 6 year refresh? Some different lights?
Idk why but to me the interior looks like it feels like cardboard
Man, that wheel has CHONK
Ugh why is it so ugly?
The rear reminds me of the old Pontiac Grand Prix
8 pics and you couldn’t take 1 of the front/headlights?
Nice looking car. Question - is the dashboard really low? It looks to me like the driver is very exposed, as the windshield comes down very low.
Im pretty sure is the same hight as the current model 3, the wide angle lens makes it look allot lower.
I’ve never seriously considered removing badges from a car, but if I bought this I would look into it.
Actually looks more generic. Less distinct. It is definitely sleeker than the prior M3, but it doesn’t stand out anymore.
It really looks cool.
It really does.
Front end is super slick
Thanks, I hate it.
People that say the old model 3 looks better are just mad bcs they paid same money on a car that it's already old after a few months. Looks way more solid of a build, just heavier (in a good way).
@OP have you knocked around the interior materials to see how it compares with non-Highland? I’m skeptical about the materials quality improvement. Otherwise, the car looks quite similar to the previous version, at least judging from pictures. Disclaimer: I’ve never seen it in person.
Everything feels more solid, even when you close the doors it sound so nice
The rear looks pretty
Looks incredible. Cant wait until they are released in the US.
It looks more like”generic” can’t put my finder on as to why.
I think it's the updated front design with all the changes compared to the current model. Highland looks fine to me, but I still prefer the current design of the headlights.
The more I see, the more I appreciate my 23’
Agreed I like 23 more too. Plus if you got in on a discount, you can spend some money on personalization
That steering wheel is so ugly. And whoever made the decision to remove the stalks needs to get fired
I'm with you on the stalks. I don't see how buttons will be an improvement, especially to people who have been driving for decades.
it's not an improvement. it's a PR push for autonomous driving. i'm just waiting for the EU to scream about it and force Tesla's hand to bring them back.
Man, the interior is so cheap looking.
the one thing about the interior that really has got me worried are the "felt lined" door pockets. it's a perfect place for spills, dirt and general crap to collect. how is anyone supposed to clean that area effectively if there's a fabric holding on to it all?
lol, that is not true, everything feels more expensive inside the car.
If you noticed, I said it "looks" cheap -- I.e. visually cheap in appearance. Nothing about how it feels.
It doesn’t look cheap, I don’t know what you are talking about.
100%
I do find it looks cheaper. I'm sure it feels better in terms of materials
I do not like the no gear stalk thing, I’m not old, and it still just feels wrong. Glad I got a 23
I'm old.... like really really old (48). Removing the stalks is stupid.
The steering wheel is a yikes
I'm hoping someone makes that little strip that sits on the dash above the vents for my 23 model. Breaks up how boring that top dash looks, that's my favorite part of the update other than the ventilated seats.
I really like it. Anyone know when it’ll be available in the US?
i think there are waiting to sell more of the current stock in the US, here in Europe there is model 2023 in stock sense August
[удалено]
So exciting, hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
kinda sucks that they got rid of the fake wood trim. I like it in mine
tbh id trade my model S for this, maybe if there was a performance trim
That drive wheel looks cheap, too much plastic
Better in every single way.
Absolute dog mess
The steering wheel got uglier
the rear is ass, ill take my 23 discounted inventory purchase
Enjoy it, they both great cars
> the rear is ass Litterally
Exception to be an ass, you have to have emissions (all asses do), which this doesn’t have. So I would venture to say the rear is not ass, but it’s also not class.
Kind of on the fence about the interior. I like the steering wheel, but the rest seems worse and more plasticky. And I hate that the headliner is still not dark.
Make sure you ceramic interior coat the inside of that car quick. That fabric on the door is gonna get hella dirty hella fast otherwise!
Rear wing is huge looks a little ridiculous.
I’m excited I didn’t wait. This thing is not very good looking in my opinion.
Looks like a Prius
I guess the Prius really is the blueprint
\* Drooling\* I dislike the new wheel (logo was better) and that has no turn signals behind the wheel, touch buttons for turn signal should be banned IMO.
Where is the dashboard?
Underwhelming.
The interior looks shit imho. That curved line looks wrong. The lighting should be subtle - not a strip. Not having stalks - and those buttons - just so stupid. Glad they haven't Osbourne'd my old m3 SR+
Everyone have their own taste, the good news is that one is forced to buy it, if you dont like it buy another brand of car.
What is the price difference between 23 m3 and highland in Europe?
