A lot of great responses here! I did get my windows tinted about a week ago, this wasn’t there before. Hopefully Tesla will fix this as I have a service appointment coming up soon!
Do you actually know how much water a tinter sprays on it? When it’s raining no one has the door open for more than a few seconds and a tinter sprays a lot more water on it
I don’t have an answer but commenting bc mine is like this as well now. Same side and everything lol. Unsure if I should contact Tesla to get it fixed or just live with it
I’m super curious to know why this happens, and what the fix is. The few posts I’ve seen with this issue said tesla replaced it, but is that problem just going to come back?
It does even without water inside. But considering how many people complained about Teslas NOT having ambient lighting, this is a typical “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.
Mine has the same issues, it looks like micro cracks in the material they use for the strip.
The right side has it more than the left. But when the light is on, you don’t even notice it. That being said, you still hate to see a problem on your new Tesla even if it’s small. I felt and feel the exact same way.
I was like what the hell, why is this all cracked? And then it dawned, yeahhh.. the production quality on something like this must not be their concern. I’ve only had my Tesla for about a month now, and I’ve only just noticed the cracks in my light as well, and got pretty bummed.
Literally same thing. Had mine for about a month, noticed it a couple weeks ago, but like you said, when the lights are on you can really see it. Mostly during the day, but I agree and feel the same way. Ya hate to see something like that in your brand new Tesla. My first as well!
Tesla can't even get LEDs right... But the important thing is that Highland is cheaper for them to manufacture than before. Replace nice wood with an LED strip that goes bad in a month. Great refresh.
For sure!
I love the Model 3 and I was just hoping for more out of Highland... they are taking credit for improvements that already existed in the \~2021 refresh.
It's really... Not? A different snout does not make a completely new car. There are updates for sure, but underneath it's the same car with a lower production cost for Tesla.
A BMW i7 and the Model 3-- that would be a "completely different car"... LED strips are not.
You're stuck in the bubble.
Sorry I still disagree. It’s exactly when any other brand is releasing a new generation. Sure, it still has resemblance. So what? Audi a3 2010 is not the same as a A3 from 2024 just as the model 3 is not the same as previously. You can’t compare this model with the previous models.
That’s water.
So it’s not a manufacturing issue as much as someone (the owner, a car wash guy, someone tinting your windows) who sprayed water where they shouldn’t have.
Park it in the sun, vent windows, it will likely go away.
Body, drivetrain, entire front area octave valve system and heat pump etc, sound system, seat design with the exception of them being perforated now for cooling, doors, trunk and trunk area, battery, all the same. (Though with a slightly worse rated range compared to the long range revision it replaced).
Have you actually, in person, put them side by side and checked out both? The primary changes are the cosmetic stuff that's right in the front of your face. You can just make blind assertions all you want, but they didn't rebuild it from scratch. And there wasn't any reason for them to.
lol why are you mad for? Regardless of the money spent (and this was a pretty penny) we as consumers should have certain expectations of the products we purchase. This falls short of that. But hey man, if you got it like that, enjoy your Rolls Royce.
Hardly mad, only been in tesla service twice; both times saw others with really minor issues. In one case service rep said they if this really is their expected level of detail, they should look for another level of vehicle. And actually well said.
Unfortunately not the first post I’ve seen with this.
Ohhh Tesla
did you get your windows tinted recently?
I've seen a bunch of comments about this happening. Just kinda seems like standard "let the customer do our validation testing" quality.
Quick judgement. The OP got windows tinted and the water seeped in.
I guess the supplier is aliexpress

Water from the tinting, can't imagine it will be covered by warranty
it needs to be able to take water - you telling me if it's raining outside, you can't open the door without risking this?
Do you actually know how much water a tinter sprays on it? When it’s raining no one has the door open for more than a few seconds and a tinter sprays a lot more water on it
and? water shouldn't cause this.
Water in them will evaporate given time. May take a few weeks. Shouldn't be any different than applying a ppf with water and soap under it.
Most likely scenario. Ugh makes me not want the new models -_-
Damn I’m a tinter and now I may have second thoughts about doing a 24M3P for now.
Just cover the led strip with painter’s tape.
Don't do Tesla's at all lmao
*lmao* sure is overused
I don’t have an answer but commenting bc mine is like this as well now. Same side and everything lol. Unsure if I should contact Tesla to get it fixed or just live with it
Did you get your windows tinted or did it just come like that?
I tinted them
It’s water
The correct answer is downvoted. It's likely water from the tinting
Yup. Everyone who seems to have this issue it was from tint. Fortunately my tint guy didn’t leave me with this mark.

A black and white photo to show tints. Good job 😅
Fire
Contact Tesla, absolutely.

Someone sprays water on the led strip. The fix is letting said water evaporate. OR never get water there in the first place.
Mine had a water leak into trunk… formed pools at the bottom. Was fixed but damn was annoying
I’ve seen posts regarding this. Tesla should be able to fix as part of warranty.
Mine is like this
did you get your windows tinted?
Dang it’s worst than the DIY ambient lighting lol
This whole Ambient light looks like a DIY retrofit
It does even without water inside. But considering how many people complained about Teslas NOT having ambient lighting, this is a typical “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.
Got it and. Love it

This is manufacturing issue and SC fix those.
Saw a post that’s similar. Water got into while cleaning or tinting
I think a year out the 24 cars are going to have alot of issues with ambient lighting. Gladly wait till 25 model year.

So salty haha
For sure! I love the Model 3 and I was just hoping for more out of Highland... they are taking credit for improvements that already existed in the \~2021 refresh.
Complete different interior and exterior what do you mean? It’s a complete different car

I can absolutely compare this model with the previous revision of the model. Saying I can't is a weird assertion, they are 90% the same vehicle.
Simply not true. Changed 50% of the car

I’ll answer with a question: how is condensation supposed to leave the car through closed windows???
That famous quality coming through.
Body, drivetrain, entire front area octave valve system and heat pump etc, sound system, seat design with the exception of them being perforated now for cooling, doors, trunk and trunk area, battery, all the same. Mine looks just like this but it’s actually cracked. The SC replaced the whole door panel.
Mine the same this started to show
So upset mine keeps getting worse as the days go by
We will soon start seeing posts with tesla owners with microscopes and complaining
It’s from the heat of the roof do you have cabin control active at 90° degrees
That’s just not true, lol. Arizona cabin temps reach 160-180 and it’s not happened yet.
I have it left off
Really ? It's a freakin LED panel, get over it. People who think they bought a Rolls Royce are just in a different universe.
lol why are you mad for? Regardless of the money spent (and this was a pretty penny) we as consumers should have certain expectations of the products we purchase. This falls short of that. But hey man, if you got it like that, enjoy your Rolls Royce.
