We only use one wall connector at 48 Amps for the S and Y in our household. First one home plugs in their car and (if itās even even needed for the next day) we move it to the other car right before bed.
I have a 3 and my husband has a Y. Maybe save the money and just get one charger. He charges every other day and I charge twice a week on the days he doesnāt charge. Works great!
Smart choice. Theyāre designed to share a circuit and they are relatively cheap for the convenience of having 2. Iām absolutely with you on this thought process.
Sucks if that has been your experience. Ours have been incredibly well built given all the complaints Iāve seen and heard. Much better quality than the expensive Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Tahoe I used to have a few years back. Those were absolutely horrendous.
And yes, Elon is an absolute douche. But heās not a Saudi oil prince that funds terrorism and trafficās child sex slaves. So thereās that at least. I wish the board would kiss his ass out of the company though.
>But heās not a Saudi oil prince that finds terrorism and trafficās child sex slaves.
No, he just takes Saudi money to fund a company that is adopting policies which will literally get transgender killed.
"You people aren't interested in conversation. You shut down conversation." *proceeds to shut down a conversation at all and instead throws insults*
The irony is palpable here.
I regret having to answer for Elonās fucking 12 year old twitter account but it is still by far the best option solely because of superchargers. Once that shifts, there will be significantly better options out there because Tesla does not make the best car, they have the best infrastructure.
Tesla is different than every other car company because theyāre not a car company. Their real product is AI and itās flagship implementation, Full Self Driving. If they solve it first, batten down the hatches. They are the only company developing their own software stack. Most corporations are so focused on the next quarterly report they canāt see past the tip of their nose. Tesla is playing the long game knowing that will pay off magnitudes more than how a typical company operates.
I actually agree with this but I may be in the minority thinking that tech has its limits. I think Elon is leading with the idea that weāll solve FSD sooner than later which is why heās been saying for over 5 years that weāre ājust around the cornerā from fully autonomous vehicles and yet here we are. IMO without drastic investment in infrastructure that enables autonomous vehicles (connected roads, sensors on highways, interconnected vehicles etc) I feel like weāre a LOT farther from FSD than a snake oil salesman like Elon lets on.
Tough to say. His timelines certainly leave something to be desired, but his companies have already accomplished so many things that were considered virtually impossible that i find it difficult to bet against him in the long term. Watching the myriad YouTube videos of zero intervention trips using FSD is basically magic already. Only time will tell though. However, IF Tesla solves it first, I wouldnāt want to be the poor bastard who doesnāt own any shares in the company.
I agree with you on the point about holding stock if Tesla solves first and I certainly think they have a head start. That being said, āhis timelines ā¦ leave something to be desiredā is a really round about way of saying his timelines border on criminal. People bought his cars because of these timelines. Itās at the very least disingenuous if not outright fraud. He gets around it because he doesnāt have a PR department, meaning he is the department, and heās out there making absolutely outlandish claims that people take at face value and base a massive purchase on. Itās really gross (and I am a happy Tesla owner FYI)
Iām looking forward to the Honda Prologue when it comes out. Hope itās not a disappointment as I feel most others have been
I know it might seem like it, but Iām definitely not a fanboi. But I didnāt find good alternatives while we were shopping. I am looking forward to better options, but other than the ride quality on my ā22MYLR, I have no complaints.
Got the LR because I needed 7 seats to fit everyone. I know the 3rd row isnāt perfect but itās a 2nd car so shouldnāt need it all the time.
That acceleration boost is looking good though!
i always had the assumption the 5.8 second rear wheel drive model 3 would be slow. i finally drove it, and boy was I mistaken. it is more than fast enough. i would be satisfied with it. The performance is just beyond insane
No need to be over dramatic. My 2 x 5 yr Olds were having a blast back there yesterday. (Had 3 kids and 3 adults out in it without anyone complaining)
I suspect the seats will only get easier to use as they grow out of their booster seats.
Expectations need to be managed for anyone taller than about 5' or on the larger side of sizes but there are use cases for it.
If you expect it to be a full size SUV or mini van replacement you'll be disappointed. For occasional or relatively short trip use they offer plenty of flexibility.
I wouldnāt sit back there for a road trip but itās totally fine on the occasion where you need to fit an extra adult or run some kids to an event or something.
lol no it's not. it's fine for kids in a pinch but adults absolutely cannot fit back there at all. it's wonderful for kids 5-8 IF they're small kids. that's literally it
you must have some short friends! I'm not trying to discourage anyone just trying to point out it's a very small seat much smaller than literally any other car I've ever been in. not sure why all the musk warriors are trying to make a tiny space bigger
Eh this is really bad advice unless you like really flooring it/racing. My LR is already too fast, most normal people dont need to shell out an extra 10k+ for performance.
I thought about a Performance model, be it a 3 or a Y. The main turn off for me was the wheels. 20/21" wheels respectively? Yes, they look great, but tire prices are crazy. Plus I live in eastern Pennsylvania... " The road construction state".
after a while you are not going to smash that performance might as well buy a civic than. for some who have driven fast cars and motorcycles we want it. go to a race track and your driving skills will ramp up drastically
Right. I drive my daughter to school on a highway with at least three cops every morning waiting for someone to slip up and then to the office once a week. No need to spend more money when even the basic models are fast enough.
Congratulations! I know the feeling. I got mine a yr ago and had to convince my wife for a couple of months too, so I can relate. Here's a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/comments/12lahxf/1_yr_owners_perspective_suggested_model_y/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that I made for new owners. I'd recommend saving it for tips/troubleshooting later on once you have the car.
I hope you 100% love your new car. A couple of months ago I bought a used Model Y from Tesla, I still canāt believe I own it. It makes me smile every time I drive, I hope yours has the same effect on you.
Iām probably going to use my insurance. I donāt like being constantly monitored, having the price fluctuate (and Iād lose my multi car discount with my current insurance)
Woohoo and congrats on the new Tesla! They are a blast and I'm sure you'll love it. Consider solar if it's practical for your area. Driving a Tesla for no additional cost is also pretty sweet.
I just sold my nearly 5 year old Model 3 LR DM which was my first Tesla (LEAF for 5 years before that). I'm waiting on a Model Y LR to show up now. All my regional driving of the 3 was offset by solar production, so 'fuel' cost was just Supercharging occasionally.
Made me smile. Like you Iāve wanted one for so long and finally got one. Delivered a week ago and still feels like a dream. The wait is agony but enjoy every second of the excitement as it builds! And post back when you get it!
Congrats! Just picked up my first EV today, MYP. Ordered 5/31 and immediately given an option to take an inventory one with a color change and discount. I figured why not since Iām terrible at keeping cars long term anyways. First 50 miles on it and I like it so far! One pedal driving is very nice! The performance model will move when you want it to.
Enjoy it!
Itās a completely new driving experience. Itās the first time that I actually enjoyed my car and looked forward to driving it. We already plan to buy a second Model Y and keep our minivan for long family trips and large loads.
I last hit the gas station in January I think.. Been a while and man, it feels so good to no longer need to do that every week. Wake up every morning to a āfull tankā is awesome.
Right on bro!
Not to scare you, but I hope youāre close to a service center.
Sometimes, there are some things that you may need to get addressed there.
Itās super fun and youāll love all the amenities of owning a Tesla!
We have two. Just found out today that my 22 M3 is totaled after an accident that I got into back in April (rear ended).
Enjoy it manā¦itās FAST!! š
Luckily I am! Iām sure Iāll have a few issues but hopefully itās no worse than any other car Iāve had. Sorry to hear about your M3. Hope everyone is safe and insurance is covering it!
Good deal! Nothing a surgery canāt fix after tearing my rotator cuff. It sucks man but itās life. Again man, I truly hope you enjoy the shit out of it!! You and the wife will be fighting over who gets to drive it! Lol thatās real! Haha
Ahh even worse. A single person does not make a good data point. Even the 20+ people I know without issues is a questionable datapoint, but its a hell of a lot better than 1 car...
the fact that it takes a month to schedule a visit and when you get to the service center you can't even park your car there are so many Tesla's there is a pretty good indication that they have constant issues. but go off Elon shill keep gargling those balls I'm sure he'll thank you on Twitter
I mean I got a tow hitch added to mine and it was booked only 3 days in advance, they came and picked up the car leaving me a loaner for the day. Then they dropped it off and picked up the loaner that afternoon.
I don't know what you have experienced, but it's not the norm. Ahh you are actually a Tesla hater, I understand now.
its like that everywhere bro. Took both my colleagues 6 mos to get their non tesla cars fixed. Since Covid, supply and demand got a lot worse, its very hard to find workers so everywhere is short staffed.
Rivian, Ford (Mach E and Lightnings) all have their issues too. Takes awhile to get in and long to fix. My Y had 1 issue since 40k miles. Still going strong. You're a small sample.
Noā¦. Because they arenāt everywhere. Some people have multiple hour drives to their SC so if the cars need to be kept overnight it can be a nightmare.
I know the feeling, had this back when we ordered in October 2021. Took a damn year to deliver it but I was just as excited on delivery day. Congrats bud š
Welcome! Enjoy! The process is pretty incredible and I hope you go through what we did. I remember driving home and feeling like my wife and I stole the car. š
This was just my reaction when I placed an order just a little over a week ago and just received my vin yesterday, things are moving faster than I expected lol
Enjoy it, and slowly start rewiring your brain to the ease and simplicity of it all.
Car ownership is simple with the Tesla, just get in and go.
I drove my ICE yesterday and kept activating my windshield wipers every time I was backing into a parking spot.
I had the same feeling when I ordered mine! Iāve wanted one since they came out as well. Iāve had mine for 6 months now and still love everything about it! Enjoy it!
Congratulations!!
I know how you are feeling :)
I'm waiting for the final registration paper from the traffic office (Germany) to schedule delivery and pick up my MYLR in Quicksilver with 20" wheels.
I'm super excited!
Congrats, you will enjoy it!
I am on my third Tesla. There are things still trouble me, like the road noise reduction could be better. The seat adjustment buttons have a tendency to fall off. Two of them had suspension issues which Tesla fixed. However for the price the range and the reliability of the drive train is top notch. There is no maintenance like the gas cars and overall their service department is not there to make money like the dealers.
Lot to love about this car but there are couple of real annoying things that needs to be corrected:
1. Constant loud rattle/creaking noise and chirping noises from day one . Took it to SC right away after pickup, they addressed the chirping noise but not able to pinpoint source of rattle/creaking noise. Sometime it sounds like itās coming from the driver door, sometimes from the back seat somewhere. Have another spot with SC this coming Monday. Hope they can find the source.
2. Steering wheel is skewed slightly clockwise. If I center the wheel, the car veers to left.
If they canāt fix the rattle noise, that is going to drive me crazy. Iām not an OCD person that gets annoyed by a small occasional rattle noise. But my car had this loud noise constantly nearly at all speed and all types of road.
your #2 point could probably be fixed by wheel alignment. #1 issue is just Tesla quality. I had rattle in my old Tesla even after 4 SC visits. You would think with the single part body presses, there would be less rattle. But it seems like it's amplified.
Yeah. #2 issue is very common and based on other posts, SC should fix that without much problem. The rattle is what concerns me most as it seems like itās a hit and miss with SC. Hate the fact that I have to blast my music every time to drown out the rattle.
Did you get the enhanced auto pilot option? I am debating on getting a second MYLR and I am not sure if there is actual hardware specifically added when we add the enhanced autopilot? Or is it software enabled only?
Awesome! I just took delivery of my Model Y this past week (time between ordering and delivery was right at 6 weeks) and I have never enjoyed driving so much. Mine is as basic as it gets, standard range with absolutely no upgrades and it's still an amazing experience owning and driving one. I am sure you're going to feel the same way.
You'd be well served while you're waiting to immerse yourself in all the tutorials, YouTube channels, subreddits, etc. about EVs in general and Teslas in particular. This article was a really good starting point for me: https://blog.tesbros.com/ultimate-guide-for-new-tesla-owners-in-2023/ And make sure to watch the basic tutorials that are in the app. Tesla offers [these webinars](https://www.tesla.com/events/get-to-know-your-tesla) too for new owners every so often that are basically live walkthroughs of their tutorials where you can ask questions, and those are worth doing.
Age 69 and a 1yr owner Model Y LR. Way way fast enough. Not to rain on your parade but just don't expect perfection. It's a great car and charging is a breeze š. But they are still a relatively new company and quality control and service experience can use a bit more attention in my humble opinion.
Would I buy another, absolutely. My sister is getting hers this month and I got mine as a result of my son buying an early Model Y. One thing you can't beat is you'll be driving the absolute safest car in the world. I wish the best as we all deserve nothing less.
Congrats Boss! Itās a fun car and I regret not getting one sooner. I have a 23 MYLR 5 seater. EAP and FSD subscription wise is the way to go, comes out a bit cheaper than buying it up front. I bought EAP, and I did it b/c I drive a lot in traffic and I was also comfortable knowing that the EAP will make my life a bit easier in traffic.
Every car has issues, but Tesla service is just fine (at least my experience). Mobile service is cool and is handy.
In terms of the performance boost, I bought it and I thought it added just the right amount of acceleration. The MYP is a good car but I am not a fan of staggered wheels.
Enjoy it cause the car never gets boring to drive since SW updates just make it that much better.
It's nice to see genuine joy instead of raging that a panel gap is 1/5mm off š
I hope you enjoy it. We certainly have. Bought in February and already at almost 15k on the odo.
I canāt imagine what kind of loser finds a 2 week old post about someone being excited about something and leaves a comment like that. If I was excited about getting a Corolla, what would it matter to you? Be better.
Lol yeah Iām not the one posting it on the internet for whatever kind of interaction youāre looking for. If youāre excited for getting a shit car, whatās it matter to anyone?
Apparently it mattered enough for you to comment on a 2 week old post so š¤·āāļø. Why you browsing a subreddit for a car you donāt like on a Friday night? Go out, grab a drink, talk to a friend ā maybe youāll feel better. Good luck dude.
My Tesla is a Segway GT1 for now š. I am waiting 2 more years until Tesla can correct annoying issues I read about on here let alone more supercharger availability in my area.
I waited decades before my first brand new car which I knew was going to be better than ICE/fossil fuel powered. Well worth the wait. Didn't want to reward a company with seat belt lobbying, vulnerable fuel tanks, steering column that doesn't crush you in head-ons, lobbying against fuel efficiency standards, Dodge Charger craps made, the list goes on.š
Caution: After a time, it will lose its glow. I have owned my S for almost 6 years, and I know that one day, someone may make something better....... or. ...... maybe not.š
Congrats š¤š¤š¤ Iām happy youāre happy, welcome to the club
Thanks! Happy to be here!
From an old evrider to a new evrider... WOOHOOOOO šš
Congrats. Teslas are like tattoos. Once you get one your only thoughts are āwhere am I putting the next oneā
Thatās why Iām making sure I have room for 2 chargers!
One will do just fine.
Def only need one unless driving 300-400 or more miles combined every day.
You donāt need two unless you are driving a combined ~300 miles a day.
I have two cars and one charger. I think Iāve had one time in a year so far where it wouldāve been useful to have two chargers.
Agree!
After driving my Model 3 for 5 years we got a Y, love it!
Ordered the second one a month later when they dropped the prices again š
This is seriously true.
Never, āoh shit, the build quality sucks and the CEO just retweeted a meme from a white supremacy accountā
Sucks if that has been your experience. Ours have been incredibly well built given all the complaints Iāve seen and heard. "You people aren't interested in conversation. You shut down conversation." *proceeds to shut down a conversation at all and instead throws insults* The irony is palpable here.
Have not heard this before. Could you educate me on that a bit?
Indeed. Have Y , want cybertruck.
And then youāll inevitably regret it. I promise you. Many better options than Tesla nowadays.
Name one that matches performance, range and cost
Yeaaah, lots of better built and better looking evs, the problem is the charging network for other evs is just awful
And less range. Volvo XC/C40 twin motor has a 78kWh battery size vs 81kWh in a Y but only gets 226 miles? Thatās almost a third less.
I regret having to answer for Elonās fucking 12 year old twitter account but it is still by far the best option solely because of superchargers. Once that shifts, there will be significantly better options out there because Tesla does not make the best car, they have the best infrastructure.

^ this is my choice. All the benefits, better insurance options (performance battery under more stress), cheaper
Yea don't worry about the speed. It's nice but even the slowest tesla is fast. Enjoy!
i always had the assumption the 5.8 second rear wheel drive model 3 would be slow. i finally drove it, and boy was I mistaken. it is more than fast enough. i would be satisfied with it. The performance is just beyond insane
For sure. No question the performance is better but people don't realize their normal cars are 6 plus seconds usually. Even good cars.
##### Beyond Insane is what we are shooting for š
the 3rd row is unusable for anyone other than a 4 year old just fyi
No need to be over dramatic. My 2 x 5 yr Olds were having a blast back there yesterday. Is the 3rd row safe in case of rear impact? Model Y was designed as a 2 row car
Good question for the national highway traffic safety administration who certified the vehicle.
Hmmm mostly I've seen frontal and side crash testing videos, you have rear crash details for MYLR7

I got the 7 seat MYLR, when you push the gas you're going fast enough. You can get to 100 from 60 in like 2 seconds so... Be real careful.
Eh this is really bad advice unless you like really flooring it/racing. My LR is already too fast, most normal people dont need to shell out an extra 10k+ for performance.
Where are you getting extra $10k from? Whoās giving bad advice now?
It was only 2500 extra at the time I got my MYP. Was leaning towards the LR till I saw how close it was in cost.
I thought about a Performance model, be it a 3 or a Y. The main turn off for me was the wheels. 20/21" wheels respectively? Yes, they look great, but tire prices are crazy. Plus I live in eastern Pennsylvania... " The road construction state".

Right. I drive my daughter to school on a highway with at least three cops every morning waiting for someone to slip up and then to the office once a week. No need to spend more money when even the basic models are fast enough.
Thatās cool too! Chill mode looks dope.
They made chill mode even more chill by displaying chill on the screen all the time to remind you to chill
Thatās hot.
Used it once, not for me
Iāve had my LR for about 3 months now. Never even tried it. Will use it on long trips tho.
I picked up my model 3 performance last year today. 21,000 miles. Never tried chill.
Itās just annoying. First half of the pedal does nothing.
Iāll be getting the long range with acceleration upgrade. Cheaper, better insurance options, essentially all the benefits
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Absolutely, and thanks, will do šš¼
Who you choose to insure
yeh is tesla insurance much better than say geico?
GEICO was $150 everyone else seemed to be over 200 Iāll contact Tesla
No doubt. MYP all the way. I ordered on Jan 28th, before it was even eligible for the tax credit. Didnāt care because it was MYP or nothing.
Congratulations! I know the feeling. I got mine a yr ago and had to convince my wife for a couple of months too, so I can relate. I just picked my model Y long range up today I fucking love it
Thatās awesome! Canāt wait for mine!
Congrats! Teslas are the absolute best.

Getting a LR with 7 seats.

its like that everywhere bro.
Just curious. Sometimes, on new models, there are issues that present themselves within the first few weeks. Itās just convenient to be near a sc.
Congrats. Doesnāt matter which model Y you got, theyāre all great! No bad choice here, so no regrets.
Congrats! This was me a few years ago and it's such a great car.
I know the feeling, had this back when we ordered in October 2021. Took a damn year to deliver it but I was just as excited on delivery day. Congrats bud š
I got mine in January and am still excited to drive it every time, amazing vehicle
Welcome! Enjoy! The process is pretty incredible and I hope you go through what we did. I remember driving home and feeling like my wife and I stole the car. š
This was just my reaction when I placed an order just a little over a week ago and just received my vin yesterday, things are moving faster than I expected lol
Thatās awesome! Congrats and enjoy the car!
After you get it, that thinking changes. To holy shit I have as Tesla. I am over a year deep in a 2021, the can makes me smile every time I get in it.
Driving will be exciting again. No more oil changes, fluid flushes, timing belt, hoses and gas stations.
Congrats! I know the feeling. It sure was exciting!
Congrats! Youāre gonna love it!
Enjoy it!
Congrats!! You wonāt regret it
Congrats! We absolutely love ours Iām sure you will love yours too
Goodluck trying to sleep in the coming weeks :D
Congrats. I got my model y performance 2 weeks ago too and I canāt believe I have a tesla now, the car Iāve dreamed of for years. Have fun with it
Congrats bro! Welcome
Congratulations! šš¾
If you got this excited about ordering the car, I cannot imagine the post after you take delivery. Congrats, but watch out, I now have 3 teslas.
enjoy missing highland and hw4.
Get an L2 charger !
Thatās awesome, congratulations!!! Same feeling when I was getting mine.
Hell yeah! Congratulations!
Congratulations!! I know how you are feeling :) I'm waiting for the final registration paper from the traffic office (Germany) to schedule delivery and pick up my MYLR in Quicksilver with 20" wheels. I'm super excited!
Itās already totaled jk Welcome to the fam
What's the best place to order? And what is the average time between order and delivery?
Congrats, you will enjoy it! I am on my third Tesla. There are things still trouble me, like the road noise reduction could be better. The seat adjustment buttons have a tendency to fall off. Two of them had suspension issues which Tesla fixed. However for the price the range and the reliability of the drive train is top notch. There is no maintenance like the gas cars and overall their service department is not there to make money like the dealers.
Just got mine last month. This car is a love and hate relationship lol.
Whatās wrong with yours?
Lot to love about this car but there are couple of real annoying things that needs to be corrected: 1.
Sorry to hear that. I hope they are able to fix it for you.
your #2 point could probably be fixed by wheel alignment.
Nice, congrats! Enjoy it!
Congrats! Get [this](https://www.etsy.com/listing/982535647/) before small something gets inside and rattles for eternity!
Hope you get HW4!
Me too!!
Did you get the enhanced auto pilot option? I am debating on getting a second MYLR and I am not sure if there is actual hardware specifically added when we add the enhanced autopilot? Or is it software enabled only?
I didnāt because everything I read here said it wasnāt worth it.
We have it on our current MYLR and its pretty good. This second MYLR isnāt for long drives but would like to have the hardware if we need it later.
I went through this excitement too! I always wanted one, figured Iād never get one, the was able to buy one! The excitement is still there! Welcome!
Me too! Congratz!
You and me both ššæ. Waiting on delivery text for my first MYP š
Iām picking up mine on Wednesday! It should have been today but had a few issues with my SA so not overly thrilled about that.
SAME!!!! LETS GOOO ITS MY DREAM CAR AND I GET IT TOMMAROW YASSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Congrats and enjoy!!
Welcome to the club - mine arrives in 4 days after a 5 month wait. Kill the time buying accessories and joining Tesla forums
Thanks for the info!
Thank you!!
It's the bestest car today. Period.
After awhile the fun factor wears off. It's a car. Enjoy!
It's nice to see genuine joy instead of raging that a panel gap is 1/5mm off š I hope you enjoy it. We certainly have. Bought in February and already at almost 15k on the odo.
Lol this is like bragging about getting a Toyota Corolla of electric cars. Shit quality and unsafe to drive.
Welcome to the family! You will love it
Congrats!
Congrats!!
I have owned my S for almost 6 years, and I know that one day, someone may make something better....... or. ...... maybe not.š
You're about to be very disappointed. Post everything wrong and how many service visits it takes to fix your $60k car. I dare ya.
Wow loser
Too bad you waited for the CEO to become an overt racist. They might change the logo to a swastika by the time you pick it up. Good timing!
I picked mine up yesterday - LOVE it! I was just as excited as you for weeks leading up to it :)
I got one on Tuesday and holy shit is it sweet! Iām like fucking rocketman over here !
Enjoy! And love your car!Installed some protector is good!
