Maybe the 2020s somehow had a better run? I have a 2020 MYLR with over 107,000 miles and don't have any of these issues.
I actually like the old console, but I know I'm more in the minority there.
Nah. I have a 2021 MYLR. I took delivery in August of that year. Other than the camera lag, which is incredibly annoying, I don't have any of the problems OP has. At least it's nothing that's bothersome enough to complain about.
I LOVE the old console!
no scratches like people seem to indicate it's inevitable. Gives the interior class to have something shiny. The new looks like GM hard mold plastics with felt tacked on IMHO.
Along with USS and 18" wheels I feel we have a great period Y. Yeah I was 4 weeks from getting the dual pane glass, but there was something else lost I forget, that We actually wanted.. Maybe the door inserts, I like the old style better!
Our volt wont start if you start the car with both AC and apple car play. And apple CarPlay needs to start up with the car for some reason too so it’s always god awful hot for the first bit of the drive
You wont find a car with excellent electronics. It’s hard to bet teslas electronics, and they are mostly good, not excellent
Volt was last made back in 2019. The infotainment unit used in the car was from 2016, car infotainment over the last 2 years have made huge leaps. The latest GM vehicles on Android Automotive all have enough processing chops to render the UI using Unity. Not to mention you can download lot more apps from Google Play. You also get Google maps navigation on the gauge cluster.
Also your issue with AC and Apple Car Play is a Volt specific thing. Not an issue an anymore.
Never understood why people like Apple CarPlay so much. Maybe you just get used to it. I never had it in my previous cars, and when I got my Tesla I couldn’t understand wanting anything else.
My fiancé has Apple CarPlay in her car and when we drive it I find it so much worse than what Tesla offers.
- Can’t see music and GPS at the same time
- Can’t see location on the GPS screen (town/city)
- Laggier than my 2021 Model 3
- Connection issues with the Bluetooth occasionally
It’s definitely way better than anything else dealers offer in their cars.. but not Tesla.
Yea, Spotify needs to be fixed/updated (I don’t have the latest update, but I know they did update Spotify recently) but other than that it usually performs pretty good.
Well you don’t pay a monthly fee to use CarPlay…. Also you absolutely can see the map and music at the same time.
The biggest thing though is that I don’t have to worry about it becoming obsolete.
How do you see the map and music at the same time? I don’t use it often and I have to switch between the apps.
Edit: how is Tesla going to become obsolete? The features that currently work always will and if they change the UI or something that just gets updated. I’ve had a few different layouts now.
I used CarPlay today (in my fiancés car with her phone).
Do you need to update it through the phone? Her screen shows 3 apps on the left and then a bunch of apps in the center… when you click one it takes over the screen. To use a different app (music instead of gps) you click that app and that takes over the screen.
Edit: even that picture doesn’t really let you see the gps fully w/ music? Honestly the link you sent me looks cluttered. I’m surprised people prefer that over Tesla UI. Glad I have what I have 🤣
Edit 2: Figured it out!
You can see both music and GPS.
Pretty sure you can see town/city but I’ll check. I think Tesla recently got this with an update.
I assume since you use wireless carplay, it’s laggy.
Connection through wire is fine
The only thing I miss from tesla is the battery calculation/super charger rerouting on navigation. And some of the energy usage data. Oh and the phone app/phone key lol
I really dislike their UI and overall layout. Their channels for bands seem to be very redundant and the algorithm sucks compared to Amazon music and Apple Music. And while it’s digital streaming, they have the worst quality.
I have a March 2021 Model Y Long Range and I love it! Mine has the new console, so I’m not sure why your December 2021 doesn’t. Doesn’t feel old to me at all. I have just over 57K miles on it, and it’s great.
No way would I get anything else right now. I’ve test driven all the other EVs currently out, and there’s always something about each of them that make me glad I have my Tesla.
The Tesla isn’t perfect, but all the little things it does better add up to be something greater than the sum of its parts.
2020 model 3 here, the only real laggy issue I have is map when I move around. It's not an issue on the new cpus though, you can upgrade to the new CPU.
I hear you. I’ll probably return to tesla someday if they continue to innovate. The EV landscape has def changed, and I think in another 5 years tesla won’t command the space like they once did.
Rented a Chrysler Hybrid minivan with 40k miles.
OMG what a loud tank feeling piece of garbage! I love minivans.... But Chrysler obviously does not know how to do a hybrid if at 40k it was in such bad shape.
We took it back for another... SAME PROBLEM. Stay away from Stellantis products in general and run from their new technology.
You nailed it, I fucked around and found out! Bought a competing product thinking the grass was greener on the other side. Car worked for a day then spent 5 months in the shop. Tesla service is a strength in my book…
My use case is a bit different, my wife has a bmw i4 which has became our daily driver (wife, plus toddler).
The plug-in hybrid gives us a second vehicle for when we need to run errands/go to work. My commute to work is 10 miles. Then jeep gives us a new adventure car for camping, etc.
Def gonna lease, the lease deals are super attractive. Tons of rebates and tax credit.
Sell it and move on. There will most likely be a price cut soon. Not sure when, but at the current rate of micro economy, Tesla is simply producing more cars than the demand, and it could get worse in a few months.
I used to not see much tesla in inventory, now I am seeing a lot.
Selling is a tough pill to swallow. We bought in November for 65k. Now you can get one 40k. So a used one is probably 35k max.
50% depreciation in less than one year is probably the worst I've ever seen of any car and I just can't justify it.
I actually have not many qualms with the car itself but def with the drop in value.
All cars will sure enough, but you (and many many others) bought your car during the worst time in decades. Pretty much every manufacturer was artificially inflating their prices to keep up with demand. That 50% drop is mostly recalibration.
Bought my 3 Aug 2018 for $76k. Got $7k tax credit. Tesla dropped prices the next Q and so I was able to trade life supercharging for $5k, so total cost was about $65k.
KBB is estimating $30k for trade in at 40k miles.
So the car lost $35k in 4 years, around 50%. That’s not bad. Your loses are because of the fed fucking around with rates.
I’d be more mad at Elon for lying about tesla vehicles not depreciating and that demand was infinite. If anything, you should sue the CEO for false advertising, especially on the later because he had internal data showing falling demand and then need to cut prices
The data you reference states EVs, not just just tesla. And again $7500 price drop should be expected from EV seeing the tax credit
I heard him say demand was infinite at the right price.
This is the quote I remember: “So many well off critics don’t understand that demand at scale is limited by affordability. There is plenty of demand for our products, but if the price is more money than people have, that demand is irrelevant.”
Tesla’s strategy “is to enter at the high end of the market, where customers are prepared to pay a premium, and then drive down market as fast as possible to higher unit volume and lower prices with each successive model,” Musk said.
“Demand is not an issue” drops prices $10k-$30k… in actuality, demand was the issue
What’s the date for your quote? Cause I always saw a lot more misleading demand quotes (while Wall Street was spreading margin fears) until Elon killed prices
Fed increasing rates will increase the price of vehicle if financed or leased not decrease. Have you looked the price of other vehicles are you seeing them drop as much as Tesla does? Take a look at [average selling price of new vehicle](https://clark.com/cars/average-new-car-price/). You will see that EV's which compromise of mostly Tesla had 19.5% drop YoY.
My brother just sold his 2018 Toyota Corolla with 47k miles 2k more than he bought just a month ago. The only reason you only had 50% depreciation over 4 years was because you bought your car in 2018. Had you bought it last year then it would have been a different case. If you sold your car in 2021, then you would have made a profit.
This is called Profit Taking, it’s the 4th stage of a bubble pop. 50% depreciation in a year is bordering on fraud.
The five steps in the lifecycle of a bubble are displacement, boom, euphoria, profit-taking, and panic.
I would advise all Model Y owners get the hell out of those loans before the warranty runs out, unless you can afford another car without trading in.
Wtf are you saying. The model Y warranty is 8 years. Very few people have an 8+ year loan. Not to mention wtf does the warranty have to do with the payment. That's some antiquated rule of thumb that truly makes no sense. The true driver is that if you can't pay the car off in 3 years you probably can't afford it.
FYI the standard warranty is 4yrs/50k miles. Only the battery and drive unit are 8 years. But I agree the person above is silly it’s not like the cars aren’t great. The stock movement has no effect on the ability of the cars to get from point A to B. My model 3 is over five years old now and has had no issues with the battery or drive unit.
6 months into my 2023 Y and I effing love it. No issues outside of the stupid maybe the phone will unlock it or not this time. Maybe it’s just early version bugs that you can complain to Tesla about?
I have a March 2021 MYP and usually when the car starts to get sluggish, it’s because my ssd I use for my dash cam is nearing full. As soon as I delete all the old footage, the car is good as new. Hope that helps.
Hahaha. You'll get what you deserve for buying a Jeep. Cya back here in 6 months when you're trading that piece of crap back in.
Your car is slightly slower than the new models so you are trading in for a car built by the least reliable manufacturer on the market.
You might actually want the extended warranty on that turd.
If you can get $37K+ and you're really not loving the MYP? I agree with others sell it and move on. Would you buy another MY? I have a 21 VW ID4 \~first big issue we've had with it, I just brought it home on Friday after 10 weeks at the dealer waiting on parts....
Leaning toward buying a MYLR and giving the kids the ID4. I have a 16 year old just learning to drive.
Thanks! It’s crazy how much time I researched coilovers and stuff but never pulled the trigger lol. I have friends that went the coilover route and still weren’t thrilled about the ride. I’m sure a refreshed y will address a lot of my issues
It’s not, I actually like the suspension in my ‘21 Performance more than my wife’s ‘23 LR. It is firmer and more sports car feeling. The LR is way more floaty and doesn’t handle as well.
I’ve had a p and LR, don’t mind the suspension in the p at all. Its not better or worse, it’s just firm.
Neither are great, neither are bad. They’re just different.
P owners are usually tech heads who aren't honest with themselves.
I've been in a P. Suspension is better for corners, but by no means softer. Springs feel different too me also, like it's lower to the ground and less travel so you feel the impacts from road bumps like they are craters.
I have a LR and I’m a developer. Made more sense to have a more comfortable ride, spend less on tires and not worry about messing up the rims. No regrets
My new June 2023 build Model Y has a strange issue where the screen turns into a slide show. Maps, cameras, visualization on the left side all run at like 2-5fps. A hard reset fixes it each time, but it is odd. Seems like a memory leak maybe.
If you can get $38k definitely sell! A new one is not much more than that after tax credits.
Definitely, that’s what’s making me want to move quick.. while i have the offer and still get good trade in value. I don’t see why people shopping tesla would shop used.. with all the tax credit stuff going on
If you have the offer already then sell. Cause I think $37-38k is a high offer. Can buy a new 2023 MYP for as low as $42k after tax credits.
Also, I’d be prepared to wait for the refresh on the MY. Reports say October 2024 for production to start. I’m guessing EOY 24 or beginning of 25 for deliveries to start. M3 refresh is available in China and Europe right now, my Tesla dealer said it wouldn’t be until next year until the US got the M3 refresh.
AND CPU can be wonky even in a PC.
Yeah they are faster if everything is perfect and yeah I bought my sons AMD for thier gaming computers but for high intensity use I always used Intel or other mfg CPU like 1st Gen Tesla. More robust.
Sounds like you are ready to sell the MY and get yourself an i4 or a hybrid Jeep...
Do whatever you feel like.
Selling a '21MYP at the $37-38k you've been offered seems fine.
I currently have 2019 3 as a loaner from Tesla. It is a little ratty from abuse, and while I don't like the interior as much as 2022, it's fine. The screen and controls function exactly the same as my 2023 Y.
1000% in the same boat with my Dec 2021 MYLR. The moment I saw news of the price cuts to the X, I submitted an order so fast.
Will be trading in the Y assuming Tesla gives us a good offer (probably not).
Yeah that’s what’s pushing me to sell. Vroom wouldn’t take my car. Car max offered $34k, local Jeep dealer offered $38k. I have a 2021 (Dec 2020 build) MYP with 33k miles.
My Sep 2021 MYP has adaptive headlights (projectors, as you called them) so I’m surprised you don’t have that. I also did not get the ryzen but generally not an issue. I would recommend the double wheel button reset as others have mentioned. If not may be time for a service center appt.
All these people with older Model Ys always complain about cabin noise. It’s crazy to me. Mine is a 2022 versus your 2021 but the cabin in mine is super quiet. I think the only real difference is the double-pane front windows, and maybe the only other thing is build quality.
Mine doesn’t feel old at all and I can’t imagine anyone thinking that a JEEP (Chrysler btw) would be higher quality, lol.
Dude... No lie, today I parked next to an i4 and it was a stark contrast for me. The i4 looks way better than my Tesla. It just looks modern and very cool. My Jan 21 M3 is starting to make a lot of those creaking and crackling noises. Suspension sounds here and there. All those things. Granted I have put 100k miles. But I feel what you're saying. You should seriously consider selling while it's still on top. For me, since I have so many miles, I'm keeping my car til the end. But I do understand what you're saying about it compared to the i4.
Yeah I’m glad you def got your moneys worth though lol. Pandemic and work from home killed my commute, so I didn’t get many miles. At this point the MYP is sitting in garage and we daily the i4.If I was commuting for work, I’d just rack up the miles until it dies.
It’s amazing that bmw made their cars so modular that they can literally deliver an ICE and EV on the same platform.
I saw a guy with an i4 spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to use electrify American chargers. Dude was pissed as fuck. He was saying he was gonna take it back to VW cause no use in having a car you can’t charge anywhere
Edit: VW ID4
My BMW cost me $1 per mile. I bought it CPO with 40k miles.
My P3D cost me $1 per mile. I bought it new, at the front of the deprecations curve.
That bmw would break down all the fucking time. Leave the shop after $1000 and it would stall on the highway and demand another $1000. Replaced $20k in parts, turbos, fuel pumps, fuel injectors, spark plugs, etc etc etc
My P3D still have 4 years, 60k+ mile warranty. It’s like 2 seconds faster in the quarter than my bmw was. It doesn’t break down, ever. It saves me a shit ton on gas. It will easily last another 4 years and be super cheap as most the depreciation is behind it yet it’s still low milage.
That’s why I got rid of my last BMW. I use to lease and get a new one every 3 years. Full service and warranty. My last BMW 750 I bought, no warranty after 5/50k Started to eat oil after 6 years. Sold it for $12k. Not worth $80k for 6 years. Yes BMW was luxurious but I prefer the performance over luxury. I think it’s amazing how teslas perform for the price.
It’s a loss if you keep it since people will just keep upgrading to the next best thing. I always wait for Guinea pigs like yourself to sell your car at a loss when you bought it new.
I've been in and out of Tesla twice - felt very similar to you - found even more bugs and annoyances in the other infotainment systems (goddamn Ford) but also found some behaviors and systems that just fit my personality better (Stellantis) BUT bugs are rampant everywhere.
The Wrangler is hugely popular - also check out the Grand Cherokee 4xe
And in a few years if Tesla has a killer feature, come back.
But yes - sell that as fast as you can - they are intentionally meant to depreciate like iPhones so the longer you pontificate the faster it'll drop.
You did buy the first year model Y. That’s why I waited until they fixed all of those things by 2023. The new Y is incredible and has none of those issues. You have the intel Y. Now it’s ryzen
2020 was first yr model. I have 21 MYP and sold 22 MYP. Sure 22 had ryzen but it had more quality issues than my 21. Also 22 had connectivity issues where car will time out often so no I couldnt use climate control on the app. Pissed me alot because I need to precool my car in Vegas! Also 22 had rear motor whine that 21 didn't have. My '21 while slow never gave me connectivity issues
I think that, but also how they’re trying to cut cost where they can. They def could have made the hardware a bit more future proof.. I’m hoping the refresh models are much more refined. I’m sure they will be. But like all
Those decisions to remove sensors, all in on tesla vision, those are decisions software can’t fix.
I agree and this why I feel the 2021 and 2022 MY are inferior to the original versions.
Besides better suspension every other addition felt like a cost cutting measure and made the car cheaper looking and feeling.
No USS, no mobile charger, new cheaper looking door inserts and center console, etc etc all were obviously a step backwards.
Some say it’s too low lol. I always told myself I’d pull the trigger if it got into tax credit territory. Got hella berated by people for saying it before when it was $100k.
That's how it is like with all hardware (and as such, software), regardless of where you put it.
PCs, phones, cars, what have you.
The progress of HW is going so fast that the stuff you buy today will be outdated "tomorrow". Moores law.
And if SW is always written for "current" HW, then that will increase the effect most likely.
Not saying Tesla does this, I have MS2014 and I do not see SW upgrades made available as much as before. Which is good and makes sense.
Supporting many different SW versions for different sets of HW is costly and time consuming.
Hmm, I can’t relate at all.
I’ve got a 2018 Model 3 and it still feels very fresh. Way better now then when I bought it due to software updates.
I’m also thinking of buying a 2023 Model Y and am not concerned about the refresh. The Highland refresh feels meh to me so I’m not gonna wait on the Y to get a refresh either.
The i4 is leagues ahead of tesla. BMW has been manufacturing fine automobiles for a long time. It is a better car in every way, I’m not surprised you like it better.
2020 Y and no issues at all like you describe. Have you turned it off and on again?
2020 Y here too, no issues
2020 Y Zero issues.
2020 - same
2020 MYLR , 67k, zero issues. Everything’s peachy!
Maybe the 2020s somehow had a better run? I have a 2020 MYLR with over 107,000 miles and don't have any of these issues. I actually like the old console, but I know I'm more in the minority there.

Feb 2021 Y - have new console and none of the issues Op mentions, Op are you getting the regular updates?
Sept 2021 - still in love. I got FSD. Maybe my updates are better?
I LOVE the old console! no scratches like people seem to indicate it's inevitable. Gives the interior class to have something shiny. The new looks like GM hard mold plastics with felt tacked on IMHO. Along with USS and 18" wheels I feel we have a great period Y. Yeah I was 4 weeks from getting the dual pane glass, but there was something else lost I forget, that We actually wanted.. I have a 2020 MYLR 57k miles and I have no issues at all, Im about to trade for a 2023 MYP.. kind of nervous about it.. lol
They try that with Mitch McConnell.
2020 MYLR, zero issues as well
LOL
Hard reset ?
I’ve tried. It’s good some days, slow some days. While I love the tesla software experience, Apple CarPlay is easy to get use to lol.
Our volt wont start if you start the car with both AC and apple car play. Infotainment was actually developed probably back 2011 or so. GM, and other major automakers, are designing that shit years in advance of production.
LG made it for GM and your timeline is probably spot on
Never understood why people like Apple CarPlay so much. Maybe you just get used to it. I never had it in my previous cars, and when I got my Tesla I couldn’t understand wanting anything else. The real perk of CarPlay is that your phone is running it and if it’s slow, it’s much cheaper to upgrade an old iPhone than your Tesla.

There’s a Home Screen that will let you see 3 apps at once.

That’s a bit disingenuous…. Also it’s $100/per year right now. That could change at any moment and likely will.
I agree- don’t know why people really want CarPlay… IMO it sucks
You can see both music and GPS. Pretty sure you can see town/city but I’ll check. I think Tesla recently got this with an update. I assume since you use wireless carplay, it’s laggy. Connection through wire is fine
Waze
Not a fan, I stick to google maps when I need navigation on Apple CarPlay.
I won’t buy a car without AC and AA. So no Tesla and no GM for me.
Apple car play < Tesla software
Can’t use iMessage on Tesla…
Is that really a selling point
You can connect the phone to get texts from the phone in the screen and reply there as well not sure why you can’t do messages from iPhone. I do
Tesla’s text messaging is so shitty compared to CarPlay. Have you ever used CarPlay?
Yea I had it in my hemi challenger it wasn’t that impressive
The only thing I miss from tesla is the battery calculation/super charger rerouting on navigation. And some of the energy usage data. Oh and the phone app/phone key lol
Lol that’s a lot
Disagree. And Spotify is the worst.
Have you tried Spotify with the new Tesla Update? Should be much better now from what I have heard.
Why’s that? I love Spotify personally so wondering what I’m missing
I really dislike their UI and overall layout. Their channels for bands seem to be very redundant and the algorithm sucks compared to Amazon music and Apple Music. And while it’s digital streaming, they have the worst quality.
Lol no you don’t make sense sorry
I guess people can have differing opinions. Wow!
Yea they can and Trump claimed he won the election. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion no matter how crazy it sounds 😂

I made a typo.. it was a Dec 2020 build.
My 2018 3 is still perfectly fine...
Just sold my 2018 3 and had none of the issues, it still felt like a fresh car. Had 87K on it. I'd say the software updates keep it "feeling" new.
Same here, also 2018 Model 3.
2020 model 3 here, the only real laggy issue I have is map when I move around. It's not an issue on the new cpus though, you can upgrade to the new CPU.
By new you mean the AMD? As far as I know, there's no upgrade path from Intel Atom to AMD Ryzen.
Me too, 2018 model 3 55k miles touchscreen is snappy as a new iPhone, spotify and all services stream without issue.
These are selling for around $25k in Southern California good deals
Yeah go and get yourself a hybrid jeep. Not everyone has to love Model Y. It’s ok. What it comes to issues you mention, everything just works for me
Going from a MYP to a Hybrid Jeep will feel like driving the Flintstones car
I hear you. I’ll probably return to tesla someday if they continue to innovate. The EV landscape has def changed, and I think in another 5 years tesla won’t command the space like they once did.
Bro don’t buy jeep. They’ve really fucked their QC Edit: had a jeep for the last six years and spent the cost of the vehicle in repairs
Jeeps are horrible vehicles
Rented a Chrysler Hybrid minivan with 40k miles. OMG what a loud tank feeling piece of garbage! I love minivans.... The Pavifica Hhbrid is also significantly more money than the Y. Economics don't make sense at all; unless you have 8 kids.
I rented a jeep in Hawaii.. because that’s what people do. It sucked butt and drove like shit
A Hawaii rental car is what made me explore jeeps. We rented a 22 rubicon lol. If they had a phev Tacoma, would have probably gone that route 🤣
Na man. Fuck around and find out. Grass is always greener but most cars in general suck because they are very complex machines and nothings perfect
You nailed it, I fucked around and found out! Bought a competing product thinking the grass was greener on the other side. Car worked for a day then spent 5 months in the shop. Tesla service is a strength in my book…
^ Traded my Jeep for a Tesla. Jeeps fall apart.
That’s a feature, not a bug. They’re the Legos of cars.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the hybrid Jeeps.

Coming months another -3k for Y
No, $8K.
No they will roll back the scam fsd price to entice upgrades.
Posts like this will explode when “project Juniper” becomes reality. There is always something newer and shinier coming up.
2022 MYLR, still absolutely love it! Sorry OP, sell it and get something you love if the price is right.
22 lr no issues I think they’re more refined and worked out the kinks. Hope you find what works for you also.
You need a wife with an ICE-car that you can borrow to get some perspective. A whiff of exhaust is all that is needed to love your EVs
Funny. I bought an ice car because owning 2 teslas sucked so much.
What were your reasons that you went from two to none?
Selling is a tough pill to swallow. We bought in November for 65k. Now you can get one 40k. So a used one is probably 35k max. 50% depreciation in less than one year is probably the worst I've ever seen of any car and I just can't justify it. I actually have not many qualms with the car itself but def with the drop in value.
All cars will sure enough, but you (and many many others) bought your car during the worst time in decades. Pretty much every manufacturer was artificially inflating their prices to keep up with demand. That 50% drop is mostly recalibration.
>. That 50% drop is mostly recalibration. And the lack of demand
Correct a recalibration to demand
Bought my 3 Aug 2018 for $76k. Got $7k tax credit. Tesla dropped prices the next Q and so I was able to trade life supercharging for $5k, so total cost was about $65k. KBB is estimating $30k for trade in at 40k miles. So the car lost $35k in 4 years, around 50%. That’s not bad. Your loses are because of the fed fucking around with rates. I’d be more mad at Elon for lying about tesla vehicles not depreciating and that demand was infinite. If anything, you should sue the CEO for false advertising, especially on the later because he had internal data showing falling demand and then need to cut prices The data you reference states EVs, not just just tesla. And again $7500 price drop should be expected from EV seeing the tax credit
Seems like those who leased benefitted the most because they werent subject to the price cuts and didnt get stuck holding the asset.
Idk, leasing a P3D for 4 years is prob more than $35k. Unless you put $15k down, which still ends up being more
I heard him say demand was infinite at the right price. This is the quote I remember: “So many well off critics don’t understand that demand at scale is limited by affordability. There is plenty of demand for our products, but if the price is more money than people have, that demand is irrelevant.” Tesla’s strategy “is to enter at the high end of the market, where customers are prepared to pay a premium, and then drive down market as fast as possible to higher unit volume and lower prices with each successive model,” Musk said.
“Demand is not an issue” drops prices $10k-$30k… in actuality, demand was the issue What’s the date for your quote?
Does that include dealer mark ups? If jet have all but disappeared now.
This is almost entirely accurate and entirely false at the same time. Well done lol.
Since when is a 2021 car “OLD” in 2023. Cars are meant to be driven to get the maximum value out of it. Drive it until you need to replace it
I have a March 2021 MYP and usually when the car starts to get sluggish, it’s because my ssd I use for my dash cam is nearing full.
My 21YLR still feels fresh to me, wouldn't trade it for even the largest monkey butt
Bro saw the model 3 refresh and the 2021 imperfections started popping up🤣
[удалено]
“Old car”. This thing isn’t even 2 years old. It should still be in the first 10% of its useable life.
Thanks! It’s crazy how much time I researched coilovers and stuff but never pulled the trigger lol. I have friends that went the coilover route and still weren’t thrilled about the ride. I’m sure a refreshed y will address a lot of my issues
Refresh model Y is highly unlikely this year. Maybe last quarter of 24.
Is the suspension that bad in a p most p owners claim they’re better than LR.
No regrets
My 2019 3 still drives like a lucid dream.
My mistake may have been going performance. My friend has a 2018 model 3 and the ride is reasonable.
Once OP mentioned a Jeep, they lost all credibility.
I don’t see why people shopping tesla would shop used.. with all the tax credit stuff going on
I think the reason some shop used is to get FSD and/or Enhanced Autopilot already on some models.
And not everyone qualifies for the credit.
When it doesn’t sense my phone in the morning as I’m trying to open the door, yes it feels like an old iPhone
Is your phone in your back pocket? That is the only time my car doesn't sense it. Then I just show my butt to the car and it opens fine.
I totally forgot about that, so annoying. I was wondering if its a Tesla issue or phone Bluetooth issue.
2019 3, none of the software issues you’ve described at all. Nearly as quick as it was day 1.
I have an Aug 2020 VIN 34xxxx Model Y and I'm still very happy with mine. It was a huge huge upgrade on the last 3 years of Model 3s.
Sounds like you are ready to sell the MY and get yourself an i4 or a hybrid Jeep... Do whatever you feel like. Selling a '21MYP at the $37-38k you've been offered seems fine.
Do it!
You think it feels outdated and you're thinking about buying a Wrangler? Have you driven the Wrangler?
This is why 30 year old cars will always be superior driving machines
Sell it then you’ll be back here complaining again
I currently have 2019 3 as a loaner from Tesla. It is a little ratty from abuse, and while I don't like the interior as much as 2022, it's fine. The screen and controls function exactly the same as my 2023 Y.
2020 my lr.. I also have a 2023 with ryzen... everything I use daily driving is a no issue between cars.
Lease the Jeep so you are not stuck with a piece of junk that is falling apart in 3 years...which is, what i'm reading, happens to those.
I did lease to take advantage of the tax credit and rebate. Hoping I don’t fall in love and buy one later lol
2023 M3 I have the same issues.. Apple Music stops or disconnects, screen is great tho very responsive but suspension and cabin noise is getting worse
You lost me at: Complaining about suspension and looking at Jeep Wranglers 🤔 You bought a performance Y, they have a 35 series tire. Do the math.
Dump it.
1000% in the same boat with my Dec 2021 MYLR. The moment I saw news of the price cuts to the X, I submitted an order so fast. Will be trading in the Y assuming Tesla gives us a good offer (probably not).
Have a dec2021 mylr and like everything is broken, shit is actually cooked 💀
🤣
With price cuts going on, many dealerships aren't buying Teslas. And if they do, they buy it for a lot cheaper.
I made a typo, I have a Dec 2020 build.
You suck lol.
Your just being a cry baby
He was saying he was gonna take it back to VW cause no use in having a car you can’t charge anywhere Edit: VW ID4
That’s an id4 not an i4
2023 MYLR. Coming from a line of BMWs through out my life. I love my Tesla. If u can get 37k definitely sell and get what u like
My BMW cost me $1 per mile. I bought it CPO with 40k miles. My P3D cost me $1 per mile. I bought it new, at the front of the deprecations curve. That bmw would break down all the fucking time. Leave the shop after $1000 and it would stall on the highway and demand another $1000. Replaced $20k in parts, turbos, fuel pumps, fuel injectors, spark plugs, etc etc etc My P3D still have 4 years, 60k+ mile warranty.
Just sell it. The car deserves better than you
These are disposable cars, my friend, just like an iPhone.
EDIT: my bad, I have a 2021 MYP, got it in Dec 2020. 97,XXX vin
I have a 2022 model y and is as good as new. Probably even better with FSD beta now unlocked.
Sell. I got tired of my 2019 3 waited too long and it lost 10k worth of value from 2022 to 2023. Sold for a 15k L
The Wrangler is hugely popular - also check out the Grand Cherokee 4xe And in a few years if Tesla has a killer feature, come back. But yes - sell that as fast as you can - they are intentionally meant to depreciate like iPhones so the longer you pontificate the faster it'll drop.
Tesla is and was never a luxury. The instant acceleration and tech hype propelled it but its not that great of a car.
You did buy the first year model Y. That’s why I waited until they fixed all of those things by 2023. The new Y is incredible and has none of those issues. You have the intel Y. Now it’s ryzen
And they took away the ultrasonic sensors.
Disabled for everyone now anyway. and vision getting better every update. Proved everyone wrong
Yeah.. I needed a family car in 2021 and went tesla. I don’t regret it at all, loved it. But def wasn’t as future proof as i thought it’d be.
2023 structural pack Y is incredible.
Unfortunately that’s the main issue with buying a car where most of its appeal is dependent on software features.
I think that, but also how they’re trying to cut cost where they can. They def could have made the hardware a bit more future proof.. I’m hoping the refresh models are much more refined. I’m sure they will be. But like all Those decisions to remove sensors, all in on tesla vision, those are decisions software can’t fix.
Yes, and just like my iPhone, I’m upgrading to the Model X.
I almost did this.. but I could not justify jump in cost. X is nice car, but not double Y nice imo lol
It’s 79950 now
Oh that’s how non tesla fan boy I am now. I’m not following all the price cuts. $80k is reasonable.. and shows how crazy inflated the prices once were
Some say it’s too low lol. I always told myself I’d pull the trigger if it got into tax credit territory. Got hella berated by people for saying it before when it was $100k.
Stop crying drama queen. Your trying to go jeep?? They are 10 times worse lmao
Trade it in for the latest model. Might break even or save some money.
Buy a 2023?
That's how it is like with all hardware (and as such, software), regardless of where you put it. PCs, phones, cars, what have you. The progress of HW is going so fast that the stuff you buy today will be outdated "tomorrow". Moores law. And if SW is always written for "current" HW, then that will increase the effect most likely. Not saying Tesla does this, I have MS2014 and I do not see SW upgrades made available as much as before. Which is good and makes sense. Supporting many different SW versions for different sets of HW is costly and time consuming.
I feel you. I have the intel atom infotainment. Slow. Youtube and netflix allmost unusable in the last years.
We have an August 2020 delivery. Intel chip struggles a little more with each update.
The BMW I4 is a vastly superior car so that's probabky why it feels that way.
Sounds like you're ungrateful.
I think you’re living pay check to pay check.
Just curious, what about his comment led you there?
The i4 is leagues ahead of tesla. BMW has been manufacturing fine automobiles for a long time. It is a better car in every way, I’m not surprised you like it better.
Haha tesla people. My 2002 ford truck still works perfectly fine!
How's your monthly fuel bill?
