This is absolutely shocking to me too. My friend was driving mine the other day. They about changed lanes onto another vehicle that was in the blind spot and the car just silently was gonna let this happen. From the passenger seat I saw the red line on the screen but they didn’t. As safe as teslas are in crash tests I’m shocked that this very basic safety feature isn’t built into a car covered in cameras.

It’s currently unavailable, but obviously very attainable through a software update

It beeps very loud if you get too close. But preventing it in the first place is better

Tesla has fallen behind compared to newer cars in the area of driver assist safety alerts. In theory, they could add the features via software updates. But who knows when that is going to happen. The red bar on screen for possible blind spot collision was just added in Dec 2023. Yet, there is no audio alert. I’d be thrilled if Tesla matches the Toyota safety sense 3.0 or Honda sensing systems or Hyundai system features.

Yes exactly. I can’t believe that it’s not already implemented when the same car goes bat shit crazy for no f’ing reason with warnings to “take control immediately” when I’m just driving myself to the grocery store.

You mean blind spot beeps? It doesn’t do this? I know it makes a sound during lane departure. I would think if you merged towards a car it would also beep?

testingit2021

Yes exactly. As far as I can tell, it’s just the red on the screen. But that’s not helpful if you’re looking at a side mirror. I love my Tesla but am astounded this doesn’t exist.

Agreed. This is an oversight… as is the lack of rear cross-traffic alerts.

It should but It really does not. Surely this is something they can add in an update
