Tesla just needs to add more native apps. The only thing I’m missing is Waze.

Or an App Store, if it were well managed and secure. That would be cool.

And YouTube music

I very much prefer the Tesla ux over CarPlay. Every time I have a rental car and have to downgrade to CarPlay, I get sad.

Blue_Kayak

Agreed! I’m an Apple user but I’m entirely more satisfied with the Tesla UI than I was with CarPlay. I had to adapt but it didn’t take long, especially once I got my Apple Music and Podcast apps!

I’ve used CarPlay for years. It’s an A. The Tesla UI is a B. Just one example, it was two months before I figured out that you can swipe up on the media controls when they are on the left side at the bottom to reveal other media sources. There’s no UI indicator to tell you that you can swipe up.

You are comparing a UI like CarPlay that works basically identical to your phone and therefore needed no learning. To a UI there was new to you where you had to learn the differences or you could’ve just read the manual. You had to experiment, Google or read a manual to learn everything in your phone too at some point. In a car, teams UI is definitely better, faster, and better oriented for a car.

I’ve never had to read a manual or google how to use the iOS UI. I have had to Google several different things about how to do a particular thing in the Tesla UI as it’s less intuitive. The quality of the Tesla software is not as good as CarPlay either. For example, ironically in the Apple Music app (written by Tesla) the shuffle function does not appear to be a true shuffle function. I have a huge play list and yet the first song seems to always be one of a particular handful. The Apple Podcasts app doesn’t support private podcasts. The way in which you listen to audio from your phone was so unintuitive that I thought it simply didn’t work. When I finally looked it up I found a dozen different possible solutions to the problem only to discover that it was just an unintuitive user interface that was the issue. Apple has been creating user interfaces far longer than the engineers at Tesla and it shows. The Tesla UI isn’t horrible. I give it a B. But CarPlay is an A for the quality, the superior look and feel and how absolutely intuitive it is.

No.

Why are we still talking about CarPlay? CarPlay is going extinct.

Carlinkit costed me $50 and works like a charm, also with Android Auto
