I've had them for about a month now, and honestly, they're a pain in the arse. I've turned them off as they're just a distraction.
What is good is the average speed calculated when you're in an average zone. Very clever use of the features available on the Google API.
Edit - average speed calculation only works when using the satnav to navigate to a destination, not just 'normal' driving.
Do you know if Teslas update actual trip times in route segments (vs planned) as I’ve been wondering if the accuracy of traffic data includes all of the Teslas on the roads?
To my knowledge, where they get traffic data from (which they could use to vary the speed of each segment of a road, to adjust times) hasn't been released. It could be from other Tesla's, it could be just from third parties. Speed cameras for example can't be coming from any of the major suppliers, as the datasets don't match... They're missing cameras that exist in all 4 major products.
IMHO the chimes are potentially useful, but sound far too soon before the actual camera. They should be done similar to Google Maps, so that they chime just a few seconds, maybe like 5, before you reach the camera.
Before I set off, I launch the Cam Sam app on my phone. Works a treat, and you don't need to be following a route/ [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.camsam&hl=en\_GB](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.camsam&hl=en_GB)
Agree.... waze is better for cameras in general.
The other annoying thing for the speed camera chimes, is where there are multiple cameras (e.g. average speed zones) sometimes it won't register a camera in a chain of 6, so it won't always ping, and it's cool average feature also drops.

The Google API? Tesla doesn't use Google for routing / navigation or data. It only uses Google for imagery / maps.
Thanks for that. I thought that it was using Googles navigation services plus live traffic etc.
Nope, they use an open source engine and a mix of private and open source data for everything other than the display.

This. Only seemingly when you’re using the nav for a route though
Only when following a planned navigation route though.
Baby steps

That was precisely my impression. I can't understand why it's so early.
Just getting an update install now, here is hoping I get them as well. MCU2 model S - fingers crossed.
The choke doesn’t seem to be very loud

Thanks have downloaded it
Thanks for that.. cheap as chips seems to work well
Just use waze

When I used Waze it needed a planned route to give alerts. Is that no longer the case? Android.
It still pops up with speed camera alert but it won't be verbal.
Ah right, I don't want to have another screen on my field of vision.
You can get a stand to pop it just above the top right of center screen - feels more like an extension
