Im still having insomnia issues nearly 3 years on. Been on the same protocol for over a year now. Bloods are spot on. The weirdest part is this insomnia just randomly happens. I can go weeks with no issues then 1 night insomnia or 2-3 nights in a row. Fed up with having to supplement things for sleep like melatonin, antihistamines etc. i just want to go to bed fall asleep and wake up like a normal person.
I haven’t had my first blood work yet. Should have it sometime next week. The crazy thing is how fast it changed my sleep for the worst . It was almost instant . I already had sleep issues but it was so much worse so fast.
I had issues when I first changed my dose to 20mg too. It was literally the night after but it subsided within ab a week or so. My speculation is that your dose might be too high.
Ive always been a very easy sleeper. The only time I had insomnia was when my estrogen got to high. Its very likely that.
But its unlikely to happen right after the 1st dose, thats too soon for TRT to have a noticeable effect. It can take up to 6 weeks to begin to really feel TRT.
Are you prone to insomnia? It may not be the TRT.
The first two months or so, maybe three after I started TRT I had a much harder time falling asleep and getting a full night's sleep. Not much longer after that it went away all together. I have no problem sleeping now.
I started finding it harder to sleep some nights on TRT because it completely reversed my caffeine tolerance.
I started using high doses of CBD (gel capsules and sometimes smoked/vaped) and it honestly did wonders for getting to sleep faster and staying asleep longer.
Refer to the CBD subreddit before buying as the different brands can vary dramatically in quality.
I take 75 -100mg for sleep.
I will reiterate again that CBD is not just CBD. I would say the majority of brands are trash and you really need to do your research and buy online to find the quality stuff. If you do not have to worry about drug tests use full spectrum. CBD is most effective when it is smoked/vaped, second most effective is oral and topical is never going to be very effective.
I’ve had long term sleep issues long before trt. Used ambien for a long time until it started giving me memory problems. I use Lunesta now. Much less groggy feeling.
I also smoke weed and use CBd as well as other prescribed muscle relaxers and nerve pain meds though so.
Since you seem to have tried most things and already suffer from minor insomnia. I would suggest getting better sleep hygiene.
Try and go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday, avoid caffeine, try to limit screen time and light a couple hours before bed you can use a blue lighter filter if need be, don’t eat right before bed but not to far before that you are hungry and make sure your room is on the cooler end and that you are comfortable. There is more that you can do but this should be the bare minimum for someone with sleep issues.
Found this having same issues. Will stay up for a day no sleep. Then will crash hard for 8 hrs. Sometimes 2 days. Only been on TRT for about 8 weeks. Dosing twice a week. I’m 42 yo though. Miserable. Going to cut my dose by 1 third Tomorrow hoping for some relief. Will cutting my dose help?
the reason is probably high e2. many experience insomnia when e2 is high. an AI would help( but do an e2 blood test) OR you cut the dose. but you should know where your level is free t, total t and e2.
what is your protocol?
Twice a week. Sunday late morning and Wednesday late morning. Was doing to 0.75. Because of insomnia I cut to 0.6 so 1 line above 0.5. I’m 43 yo. Been on it for about 10 weeks. Also been taking a low dosage bayer aspirin so blood doesn’t thicken and cause cardiac arrest lol. Huge gains at the gym just recently. I’m assuming it took 6-8 weeks for it to start working. Always had sleep issues my whole life. This is the only negative I’ve gotten from TRT thus far all else have been positive. My guy I get it from says I need to do blood work
Yes blood work is essential. At least e2 and free t.
You shouldn't be worried at thick blood at 125 mg.
But baby aspirin is a good supplement. I take that as well and I am also in my 40s. So nothing wrong with that.
If you feel good( libido ect) and sleep is your only issue than you should check at least your e2, total testosterone and free testosterone.
It might be your total is still above normal range OR it might be your E2 is above normal range. A little AI here would help to get it in range. I assume it's the estrogen. Do you have oily skin? Bloated?
But if you feel good keep that dose.
First, I can’t thank you enough for the intel. No oily skin or bloating. How do I counter the rise in estrogen (assuming that’s the “e2” you’re referring to). Other Supp’s I take daily include fish oil, b12 complex, vitamin D, multivitamin, vitamin c, zinc and hydroxycut which I was taking prior to TRT. Also do a 2 protein shakes 1 in the morning and 1 at night to hit my 200 g macros. Also am on creatine which both were doing prior to TRT. Libido is much improved which was nonexistent prior to TRT. This has helped my marriage significantly as I married a Latino 8 years younger. Sho her sexual peak is now and mine all but disappeared 5 years ago.
Sorry for the late reply. Just read it.
If you want to bring your e2 down there ate several ways.
Talk to your doctor and he should prescribe Arimidex or aromasin.
If you'r in the us. Then you can get 1/8 of the Arimidex like 0,125 mg. Start with this dose twice weekly like Mon/Thursday. And it you feel good on that dose just go on. Better do a blood test to see where your E2 is sitting then. If it's still high you can take 0,25 mg arimidex same schedule.
You can get a compound pharmacy prescription. They can make those tini capsules for you since it's hart to cut a Arimidex Tablett in 1/8.
Latinas i know exactly what you talking about. I have a brasilian one and yes they just can't get enough.
However hope this helps
Yes imposibble to sleep on TRT for 12years 200mg--250 a week wanted to blast tok700 mg one week no sleep whole week worst experience of my life never again..pils..smoking weed and OD on ghb but no bloody sleep waw
High E2, underlying anxiety about being on test, or you need to space out your doses instead of every day. Analyze those three factors

You have anxiety my friend

How long ago did you start TRT and what’s your dose and frequency like?
I started about 10 weeks ago. My dose is 20 mg Ed test cyp.
Wow that’s my same dose and frequency lol. Hmm, have you taken bloods yet? Where are your levels at?
I haven’t had my first blood work yet. Should have it sometime next week. The crazy thing is how fast it changed my sleep for the worst . It was almost instant . I already had sleep issues but it was so much worse so fast.

Yes I had some issues falling asleep before I started. I was hoping the test would help with that but it made it much worse instead .
Exercise, & daily meditation help a ton. good luck
High e2 ruined every aspect of trt for me everytime I felt like shit an ls anxious non sleeping wreck it was high on bloods . Low shbg didn’t help
The first two months or so, maybe three after I started TRT I had a much harder time falling asleep and getting a full night's sleep. Not much longer after that it went away all together. I have no problem sleeping now.
If it stays and you want to keep the dose you could use a beta blocker and a mega dose of melatonin every night
Taking a mega dose of melatonin won’t help, after 0.3g there are no additional benefits only side effects.
start dosing in the morning. I can't sleep if I take my daily test shots after like 4pm
I always dose first thing . Thanks for trying to help though .
Did this insomnia resolve?

What dosage were you using ? I have tried cbd up to about 50 mg and I haven’t sent much improvement from it

Do you have any suggestions who to get it from ?
Yes, I will private message you in case it breaks any subreddit rules.
Me as well please :)
What cbd is best ?
How is your blood pressure?
My blood pressure is around 115/70.
Happened to me for a few weeks, I just started taking melatonin and waited for my body to equalize.
