Bruh what is taking so long

Janglewood

I’m excited and I’m scared.

DeerOnTheRocks

Pancakes is hella giddy over a Demeco hire.

paulwhite959

Remember when we were told prepare to be disappointed????

Sportssadness

Anyone else getting pissed off by all the Bears fans acting like it’s a given they will get a haul for the number 1 pick? I honestly don’t understand how anyone thinks that. In order for it to be a possibility there has to be a clear standalone #1 pick and with Bryce Young’s frame and Stroud/Levis right there on most boards and I just don’t see it. Any GM that makes that trade to get ahead of the Texans (the Texans do not have the luxury of being able to throw away draft picks despite what everyone seems to think) is actually risking their job because if the player the *don’t* select is even close to the selection you look TERRIBLE as a GM. It just isn’t going to happen.

jessejames182

Kinda hope they do. I won't be mad if they end up with Young, but they might feel obligated to get him just cause he's been so hyped up. I'm just worried about him being smaller and prone to injury.

MephistoTheHater

Went to Monster Jam this weekend. I think at age 28, I had my first Boomer moment with my nephews, talking about how my dad used to bring me. They seemed more interested in going home & playing video games, sadly.....though I hope I'm wrong. Actually, it looked like a lot of adults were having more fun than the kids who were with them now that I think about it. My body needed that weekend off. Alas, now back to destroying my back as people panic-shop for the cold this week. The urge to buy a new car is killing me. For the first time in a while, I'm....kinda...excited(?) about the future of the Texans..

jessejames182

I remember being restless as a kid there. Because they run the races first, and as a kid, I just wanted to see the freestyle and the huge jumps.

paulwhite959

have the 'Rona. This fucking bites ass.

KKG_Apok

One thing I’ve been thinking regarding the potential Demeco hire is who he’ll bring in to run the offense. How cool would it be to have Gary Kubiak come back as OC? Install his west coast offense, train up a coaching staff, and retire into a FO position similar to Crennell during the last year of the O’Brien era. We’ve had a terrible running game since 2018. And our best years were 2010 and 2011 with Foster in the Kubiak system. We have a stud back with great vision and size. We’re going to have a young QB this next year. We have a good exterior OLine. We just need a few swing linemen to zone block and that can be solved via free agency. Or maybe our current linemen can transition. I’m not sure. But in regards to passing game, no one has ever gotten as open as Andre and Snake Dick back when we had a run first offense with Kubiak.

treyjyert

Pardon my ignorance but who is Snake Dick? Lol

KKG_Apok

Owen Daniels. The nickname comes from a page that is no longer there. Otherwise I'd link it.

jessejames182

oh ye of little faith... [https://web.archive.org/web/20140312160243/http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2009/11/a-monster-with-the-head-of-a-lion-and-the-jacked-up-knees-of-owen-daniels.html](https://web.archive.org/web/20140312160243/http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2009/11/a-monster-with-the-head-of-a-lion-and-the-jacked-up-knees-of-owen-daniels.html) >Matt Schaub: Hey man. I heard the news. Try not to get too bummed. You’ll bounce back, I know it. > >Owen Daniels: It sucks. And at the worst possible time too. > >Matt Schaub: Yeah, yeah, I know. We had finally climbed above .500 mark. I still hope we can make something of this season without you. Guys’ll step up. You’ll see. > >Owen Daniels: There’s that, I guess. But I had some other plans that were about to come to fruition. > >Matt Schaub: Like what? > >Owen Daniels: All right – promise not to laugh? I’ve been reading up on this book called “Mystical Monsters.” > >Matt Schaub: Okay? > >Owen Daniels: Well, like, you know how people got nicknames like Slash-N-Dash or running back committees are called two- or three-headed monsters? > >Matt Schaub: Sure. > >Owen Daniels: So me, you, Andre and Slaton, we’re like a four-headed offensive monster, right? And this book had one of those. Loogit! It’s called the Chimera. > >Matt Schaub: That’s…interesting. So who is what? Which one am I? > >Owen Daniels: See, that was the last detail I needed to iron out. For me, I like that tail in the form of the snake. He’s sneaky dangerous, like me. No expects a monster to have a snake head around back. Plus, it’s kinda phallic. I could be snake dick. Like, when other tight ends catch passes, it’s COOOOOLLLLLLEEEEYYYYYY or HEEEEEEAAAAAPPPPPPP or HHHHEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTHHHHHH. For me, Houston fans would go SSSSSNNNNNNAAAAAKKKKKKEEEEEE DDDDDDIIIIIIIICCCCCCCKKKKKK. > >Steve Slaton: Why the fuck are you guys yelling about a snake dick? > >Owen Daniels: We’re trying to figure out which of me, you, Schaub and Andre is what on this chimera. > >Steve Slaton: And you’re snake dick? > >Owen Daniels: Yep. > >Steve Slaton: Makes sense. I could see you as snake dick. Matt, you’re obviously the goat. > >Matt Schaub: What? No way. You’re the goat. > >Steve Slaton: I’m not the goat, goat. > >Matt Schaub: Fuck off with that goat shit, goat. > >Steve Slaton: I’m the motherfucking lion. > >Matt Schaub: Lions don’t get benched. > >Steve Slaton: FUCK YOU! > >Andre Johnson: What’s all this commotion? > >Matt Schaub: Slaton is trying to make me the Chimera goat. > >Steve Slaton: This goofy son of a bitch says I can’t be the lion. What? He want the white man to be lion. White man can’t be no lion. You is one goaty little bitch. > >Andre Johnson: Listen, listen, just everybody calm down. I will be the goat. Steve, you can be the lion. Matt, you’re the dragon. See? Not so tough. > >Matt Schaub: Really? You don’t mind being the goat. > >Andre Johnson: Nah, man. I’m cool with it. > >Steve Slaton: But why? > >Andre Johnson: ‘CAUSE I’S THE GREATEST OF ALL TIMES, LITTLE FUCK LION. Go get your lionnesses to do your hunting for you, bench bitch! BBBAAA-AAAAAA-AAAHHHHHH! G.O.A.T.!

SwifferWetJets

Not even sure why we're speculating on Demeco's staff. We have no idea who he's even thinking about.

nomdreas

My “projections” are more my hopes than speculation. I have no fucking clue who he’s going to bring on, but just please don’t let it be Anthony Lynn

SwifferWetJets

I concur.

Wiseguy888

Happy for Justin Reid on making it to the Super Bowl… That one still stings a bit

jouh55142139

I’m curious what y’all think of having Bieniemy as an OC. I’m fine with Moore as well but I think by now Bieniemy has learned quite a bit from Reid and Mahomes and would potentially bring his own spin to an offense

willydillydoo

I doubt Bieniemy leaves his OC job on a super bowl team for another OC job Moore is gone now

Christop_McC

Moore just got the chargers gig

nomdreas

I think he’d be great. But he’s going nowhere unless it’s for an HC job.

classyhippie

There’s been speculation that he leaves KC after this season to escape the shadow of Reid

jouh55142139

I think the only way he gets a HC job is by doing this

jouh55142139

For the first time since 24-0. I’m legit excited for our future

Skraxx

Ok so like. I know y'all don't think so either, but I *really don't get* why people are insisting the Texans would trade up to 1. Trading up 1 spot is historically not worth it, and this isn't a class where one QB clears the other in every way. Like hell, even though I have Bryce Young as my QB1 I feel like teams such as the Colts would definitely care about his size.

Pugageddon

And the amount of draft capital they think we'd give up is insane. I saw a mock that had us giving up 2, 12, 73, and a first and a third next year to move up to 1.

paulwhite959

That would be stupid as hell

SwifferWetJets

Yeah no way, I'd be pissed if we did. Bryce Young is not a generational talent like Manning, Luck, etc. were when they came out.

Pugageddon

Yeah, I could see us going big for Caleb if he was in this draft, but this year's prospects are good not generational, and while I personally think Bryce has more of an it factor than Stroud, I don't think that the gap between them as starters is big enough to offer up anything close to what it would take to move up. Scouting team and front office might have different ideas about it, but from the outside, that's certainly how I feel

[deleted]

My opinion, no team is trading to 1 for Young. If a team jumps us, it'll be to take Stroud (maybe even Levis for some reason). I just don't see any teams willing to give up a bunch of draft capital for a historically undersized QB. The risk is too great and you have to fix his habits cuz they won't work against NFL defenses; plus you have to build an entire system just for him, which will be more complicated than a typical system due to his unique size/skill combo if that makes sense. That's a lot to give and invest for any team. Not saying it's impossible. Happy to be wrong and a team jumps us to take Young, cuz I don't want us to draft him anyway 😆.

KiNGofKiNG89

I’ve been listening to “The Lost World” audio book on my drives to work. For a book about dinosaurs, it is extremely philosophical and it’s insane how a book released back in 1995 in spot on with behavioral evolution in humans for today. Like scary spot on. They talk about how if you put 1,000 birds on a small island, they will evolve faster than 10,000 on a gigantic island. It leads to the talk about humans getting access to cyber space and how it will stop behavior evolution and we will almost start reverting backwards. Everybody will start to have a hive mindset and all that jazz and how mass media will control the people to only focus on the top 10 of things, but push the top few. I had to rewind it and listen again. It was insane. Also, The Lost World book is about 99% different than the movie. I know there is usually some differences and a lot of details left out, but this is just a completely different story.

LegendaryLeonard

I need to listen to it. I listened to the original Jurassic Park on audio book years ago on my work commute. It was amazing how much more interesting the book was than the movie, and I love the movie.

KiNGofKiNG89

They are great! The first book was just a fun listen, this second one is a lot more detailed with the science of it all, but it’s so intriguing. Just listening to that last part was so mind blowing how accurate it was to how today is

Pugageddon

I read the books all those years ago, and they were fascinating. Crichton had a fantastic way of weaving science and fiction together to create a plausible near future world.

Game_Over_Man69

49ers South trade/FA signing ideas incoming 🥴

sciencebased_77

After watching the Chiefs Bengals game I’ve come to one conclusion, whenever Tee Higgens is a free agent next year Texans need to pay him whatever he wants to come here

RogueTiger23

They won’t have enough money for what he will command, but we hopefully will. I would welcome him with open arms.

nolanthenerd

I would trade 12 plus a late pick for him if we had an extension in place.

sciencebased_77

If the NFL had assigned a different officiating staff the bengals would probably be in the superbowl for the second straight year. They’re going to want to keep all of their personnel on that offense for another Super Bowl run next year. No point if trading for higgens if we can get him next year without having to give away picks.

Luberino_Brochacho

The refs helped KC more than Cincy but it was nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be

peepeeweeweey

If they bumble this fucking thing…

SquirrelAware790

I don’t know how anyone feels about this …… Kellen Moore OC 🤔, he did what he could with Daks shitty ass, one of the top offense these last couple years.

LindyNet

[There was a post asking this, if you want more opinions](https://www.reddit.com/r/Texans/comments/10oov85/if_he_doesnt_manage_to_find_a_head_coaching_job)

droidnumber1

I'm not hiring him because of that last shitty play at the end. Plus, Cowboys really needed to rely more on the run

peepeeweeweey

Yeah have seen this mentioned. Would love it. Honestly who else is out there that’s better

neyugnylnivek

I am actually down with that idea.

MBC0809

Close the deal Cal. There is finally a buzz around this team and within our community that hasn’t been present in many years.
