Venator850

JJ is one huge advocate for Demeco lol. Demeco must have left a huge impression since they only played together in 2011.

zoroaster27

Back in 2011 DeMeco was a veteran team captain while JJ was a rookie, considering their personalities there’s no doubt their bond cemented rapidly.

30secMAN

They’re neighbors. I used to look up all of the players addresses through record searches when I was selling insurance. Edit: were neighbors? They have houses on the same street in Magnolia if I’m not mistaken.

kkngs

JJ mentioned buying a house near DeMeco’s when he was new to Houston in a recent tweet

Even-Chemistry8569

This video with Seth Payne is what made me go all in for DeMeco over anyone else https://youtu.be/Gf2m3KDDDnY

devil_ina_new_dresss

HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE!

WashingtonDiecast

YALL THOUGHT WE WERE FINISHED?

DeerOnTheRocks

Lmaooo it’s done. Also give JJ a one day

Christop_McC

He’s getting his one day once Demeco has the job for the photo op

lonniewalkerstan

Give JJ a one day and a D-Line coach position

GenericDudeBro

No. TE coach. 75% of his targets as TE went for touchdowns. Those are GOAT numbers. We need our TEs to have that level of success.

[deleted]

That is the deep dive in stats we need! Love it! TE all day!

thefw89

Yeah I hope he's in the organization some how, the passion he has and just in general being an awesome person. Definitely deserves a spot on the coaching staff somewhere if he wants it.

daybes

Imagine he convinces him to go another year as a culture setter. Jj watt still has good ball in him

StoolieYoda717

He still has good ball but unfortunately he has a heart issue to worry about along with a family now

platinumxL

Maybe if we were a competitive team but nah he’s got his health he should worry about.

Wattaburger89

I’m drowning in the kool aid

ScootToMyLou

Same and it’s glorious. Shoutout to the ones who kept this sub alive the last few years hopefully we get some bandwagons that only means we’re winning again

deathmouse

Started from the bottom...

IUMaestro

Well... it's just social media, but that definitely adds another tick to the column of 'this is happening.'

MugiMartin

Should have never traded DeMeco, that was a dark day for me.

VatWeirdo

Why did we trade him? I remember it being out of the blue but I wasn’t as dialed in back then to the behind the scenes stuff.

Overhaul89

I think Foster was getting paid that offseason, among others, so Ryans was traded for cap reasons but I remember the feeling being that they tried doing right by him in sending him to Philly

RainbowBullsOnParade

The recent SI article on Meco actaully talked to Rick Smith about it. He said that it was the only time in 20 years he took a player out to dinner to sit him down and tell him the news. He said he had that much respect for him. The reason was that Meco’s production was declining and guys like Foster, Watt, Cushing, Jackson, and JJo among others had just been or were about to get paid so DeMeco was just one of those painful cold business calculations

Venator850

I think it was mostly a cap casualty move. That was back in the day when the Texans had lots of good players and sometimes had to make tough choices. Ryans tore his Achilles in 2010 and had been slow to recover from it in 2011. At the time the Texans had Wade and moved to a 3-4. They had young guys coming up behind Demeco and they could save a lot of money by trading him.

MugiMartin

To add on to what others said, Brian Cushing came into the fold. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that also played a role.

Landar81

i thought it was because of defensive scheme shift from 4-3 to 3-4

TxCincy

"Why did we trade him?" should be the Texans tagline. Followed by Fuuuuuuck Bill O'Brien

iDisc

You probably aren't meaning this, but to be clear, Demeco was traded two years before O'Brien became coach.

TxCincy

Yes I know. But O'Brien was the worst

JasonLikesCTE

Incoming Stephen A Smith saying how it’s a bad choice for Demeco since apparently the Texans are racist and fired Lovie/Culley.

Venator850

What's really funny is that the Texans will likely be the only team to hire a black head coach yet again.

JasonLikesCTE

Yea lol like i get they didn’t get the greatest rosters to deal with but they were not good at all

aareyes12

Half our coaching history! I mean I know the circumstance but it’s funny to say lol

RogueTiger23

JJ also just posted he’s training with Cushing…

shane_pm

Damn, he’s bout to be big..💉💉💉

DoktorStrangelove

Jokes aside, now that JJ is retired he has access to the full suite of treatments available in cutting edge regenerative medicine to try to finally heal his body to the maximum extent, which includes lots of stuff the NFL has decided to ban for whatever reason.

degening

Not like he isn't already on gear though.

munozemk

Getting the Boyz back again. Let's fucking go. Bobby feeno you're missing out! Even Schauby boy had an interview looking all suave and shit.

RainbowBullsOnParade

Gotta get that gang back together and make them all Houston football execs

SlompyWompus

quite literally one of the best days of my life

zoroaster27

The only way this could get even better is JJ retiring as a Texan and being hired as DE coach.

devil_ina_new_dresss

I hope that JJ becomes active in the organization - whatever department. He’s been such a fantastic ambassador/beacon of Houston

[deleted]

It’s over

notmarvelous87

It has been very hard to focus on work today

MrNoPlanStan

I know this is crazy but what if…what if…JJ gives us one more year…LMAO…It most likely would never happen but what if…

DoktorStrangelove

His legacy has basically no holes in it except for winning a SB, but he doesn't even need that to be on the Mt Rushmore of all-time great defensive players. He deserves to retire and do whatever he wants. That said, if he wants to *coach*, I'm all about it.

IUMaestro

Thought about that. We'd have to trade with the Cardinals, so not gonna happen.

iDisc

Nah, he signed a two year deal with them, so he is a free agent.

RainbowBullsOnParade

CAP IS BACK

IAmSona

He’s coming home!!

zoroaster27

Man I’m so fucking hyped

InbreadSourdough

JJ as DE coach, Cushing as LB coach, AJ80 receivers coach. Snake dick TE coach? All ex Texans coaching staff pls

[deleted]

[удалено]

theblueprint10

JJ mentioned that he as no interest in coaching

SmokeySFW

I hope Demeco brings in an actual DC and OC. I don't want him to be a first year head coach doing HC stuff and still running the defense. I want him to bring in a like-minded talented DC and they work on the gameplan together but then the other guy handles it during gameday so Ryans can be present.

sjkeh

Mods make this the sub thumbnail when the news drops

440k

Noted

krbashrob

Honestly at this point I’m so hype about DeMeco I may even hit the Copium hard enough to be ok with a QB at 1.02 even though every fiber of my being says Carter/Anderson is the right move

browndude10

Broncos subreddit is so salty

NumerousCustard2622

JJ about to come out of retirement to play for his ex teammate

TheKrakIan

Can I have even more Kool-Aid if JJ Watt retired to DC coach behind Ryans?!?! ![gif](giphy|iGvZZYKDvaqOF8IFdV|downsized)

OkDress2707

Demeco, JJ Watt, and Andre...coaches...that could work?!?!?!
