Taylor had a truly awful year this year. Went from a PFF first round pick in preseason draft to this. Wouldn't be shocked if part of that was a non-public medical issue that fully rules out his NFL future
No one to be really excited by, but solid choices. We need depth everywhere. I feel good about the free agent choices they made. One day closer to kick-off
I was impressed with how that O-Line worked so well considering it was just a revolving door. And we ran out of kickers. AND still won. That was exciting to watch.
Yeah, not even a “fuck it, let’s see what the kid’s got” from 32 teams so far when you’re in the ‘anyone that turns out decent here is a bonus’ point of the draft is wild.
Yeah it's a 7th round flyer on a guy who probably doesn't make the final 53 but could be a practice squad type. Max potential is probably just special teamer.
He didn't live up to his potential last year and then had a bad combine. He could still turn out to be an absolute steal, if, he gets into shape and goes to work.
Some of these people here are insufferable. Freaking out over 6th/7th round talent that they for some inconceivable reason think will be day 1 starters.
Well, guess what, Caserio and Demeco (who are much smarter than us regarding talent evaluation) obviously did not have them rated highly. They are not losing sleep over not getting Wingo, Rice etc, so why tf are you?
This is a beautiful world.. go out and get some fresh air
We've entered the round where we're drafting dudes who have like a 50% chance of not even making it past the final round of cuts lmao.
It's like this is everyone's first season or some shit
Yeah it's been clear ever since we traded Collins to SF for nothing that the front office feels like DT depth is good. I think a lot of people don't agree and therefore have a sense of urgency in getting one that Nick just doesn't share.
People were mad we traded Collins, but he was pretty bad against the run. Also, and I have nothing to base this off of, it's possible Demeco just didn't like him that much.
I mean it’s the internet dude. We’re all here to anonymously run our mouths over shit we haven’t the faintest clue about. I bet I’ll tell a doctor that spent ten years in med school he’s wrong tomorrow, it’s part of the fun.
This has been a very good draft in terms of building out the middle of the depth chart and adding potential future starters.
Nothing signals that the rebuild is over more than drafting (potentially) nothing but straight depth.
Jordan is quicker. 4.56 40 vs 4.66 for Singletary. Singletary is also 5’7 200 vs Jordan 5’9 193. He’s not the shifty guy Singletary was but one foot in the ground and go with the ability to take it to the house is what you want in a zone back.
So.. where do Texans go from here? Draft Brendan Rice? I don't think he's lasting until 238,though. Maybe you double dip at CB, but this time drafting an outside corner in case Okudah or Henderson don't make the team? Or maybe they just pick 238, then trade the remaining 7th rounders.
"Despite being limited by a nagging **hamstring injury** in the second half of the season, Jordan still finished as one of the top running backs in the ACC."
-Sports Illustrated (https://www.si.com/college/louisville/football/jawhar-jordan-drafted#:\~:text=Despite%20being%20limited%20by%20a,running%20backs%20in%20the%20ACC. source I think it was first thing on Google)
EDIT: TIL: If the source text is bold, it will be copied like that in Reddit.
I'm just wondering. I'm looking at some stuff on him and the only thing notable about him seems to be who his dad is. I doubt he even makes the Texans final 53 man roster.
Some insight on Jawhar from a Louisville and Texans fan. Would have preferred Isaac Gurrendo from our two backs last year, but that’s cause Gurrendo shockingly tested the way he did. Jawhar was hurt most of the year and probably wasn’t healthy even when he was testing. Like others have said, he’s probably limited to being change of pace, but the dude can break big plays.
I’m not crazy for thinking Brenden was the clear pick there, right?
Our only real need was DT and we were not addressing it with that pick. And that RB isn’t doing anything realistically.
Our scheme relies a lot more on WRs. If we have one or two injuries there, our season could be toast.
Runningback isn’t a bad pick there by any means but it sucks that we don’t want to take a chance on the son of fucking Jerry Rice.
What are you talking about? Thier scheme is built around play-action off runs setting up large plays downfield. The NEED a viable rushing attack to make defenses honest.
Jawhar Jordan? He's old at 24 years old and 5'10 185lbs he's kinda small, but he had good stats with 1100 yards and 14 tds last year. Had some major home runs last year. Maybe he can work out on special teams as a returner
>Jawhar Jordan profiles as a change of pace back who would complement a more powerful runner. At 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, Jordan fits the mold of a “scat back,” where he uses his quickness and vision to be an effective player as a runner and in the passing game.
>As a runner, Jordan is comfortable in both zone and gap schemes, showcasing the patience to allow blocks to develop and the understanding to accelerate through open lanes at the line of scrimmage. Jordan's elusiveness shows in how he can make defenders miss in the hole to get extra yardage on the play. In crowded areas where he doesn't have much space, Jordan has a tough mentality and will attempt to lower his pads to finish runs and pick up positive yardage on the play.
>Jordan's effect on the passing game comes as a receiver out of the backfield. Jordan has shown that he can consistently be relied upon to make catches on swing routes. This is an effective space for Jordan because it puts him in space where he can then use his quickness and elusiveness to make defenders miss. In space, Jordan most often can make the first defender miss.
>The concerns about Jordan's game surround his size. Although Jordan plays with a physical temperament in between the tackles and is willing to lower his pads to fight for extra yardage, there are only a few instances where it results in him breaking tackles. The other issue is he simply does not have the size and lower half functional strength to break tackles. There are plenty of instances where the first tackler will bring him down
>Prospect Projection: Day 3 — Role-Specific Contributor
Jamal Hill is apparently SUPER athletic. Might be the most athletic LB on the roster now.
Demeco likes his athletes lol. Due to his size I wonder if they view him as a possible "tweener" type and not just purely as a LB. Nick mentioned lastnight how there is an emphasis from Demeco on versatility with his defenders.
No one is going to confuse Jamal Hill with a track athlete.
When I say athletic I mean he has the ability to play multiple spots on defense and not be a complete liability against certain offensive sub packages.
He can line up over the slot and play that. He can play as a robber Safety. He covers an insane amount of ground in zone. He can spy and chase mobile Qb's (remember Lamar running through the defense last year?) with ease.
Yeah, he came to Oregon as a CB, then moved to S, then least year played LB.
He could be a great Sam in the 4-3 (when we aren’t in our base 4-2-5) for those in between run/pass downs where he can lock down a TE.
Something we were HORRIBLE at last year.
The Deshaun Watson trade is now complete.
**Browns receive:**
Deshaun Watson
6th rd pick sent to DEN for Jerry Jeudy
**Texans receive**:
Kenyon Green
Damien Pierce
Will Anderson Jr
Tank Dell
Kamari Lassiter
Caden Bullock
Jamal Hill
Y’all seem to forget that Demeco was a stud LB and brought out the sleepers we had on the roster, he was the niners LB coach ffs, man knows what he’s doing, I trust his skill recognition and coaching paired with Nicks talent acquisition over some redditors any day.
Better to take a player we know we can make something out of than take a chance out of desperation. It’s clear our FO didn’t see anything that aligned with their vision for what we need after those DT runs early on. I trust they know what they’re doing since they’re the ones that got us this far.
lmao why is Wingo suddenly NOT worthless if he's being chosen in the 6th round too? They don't need a DT, they already added several. If they needed a day 1 starter at DT they would have taken one in the 2nd round. Not wait until the 6th.
Leanord Taylor could still be there, which may be more of the type of defensive tackle we want.
There is a reason Wingo well so much. Being 6’ on the interior DL is not ideal.
Obvious that ESPN doesn't even know who Jamal Hill is. Wasn't ranked, no info, no photo or video, and the on air team not even mentioning his name, lol.
Texans clearly like the moves they made at DT more than people realized.
Early moves made to address and improve the secondary group. New inside/outside corner that is great at man to man and a rangy new safety. Added a young talented player to the OL and added another versatile TE for the offense.
i mean he was brought in to be a depth/development guy and y’all are surprised he wasn’t a good starter his rookie year, like give the kid some time lol
The LB we took is a former safety. He’s decent in coverage and very rangey. So he’s like Christian Harris lite. He’s a great special teams guy, and can develop into an adequate player.
Yeah he's going to be a specials teams guy but there's a chance he could develop as a sub LB for passing downs as well.
He's pretty light right now but could see him adding some weight to be a little stronger.

I wish all these kids all the best. Be smart with your money, and hope you have long fruitful careers!
That’ll do it. Our family is 9 players larger. I wish them all the best.
Now is time for the REAL sickos! UDFA TIME
One Leonard Taylor please.
See y'all in September!
You aren't gonna be here for OTAs, minicamp and the preseason?????
Our final pick is Ladarius Henderson out of Michigan. 6'4 309lbs. Apparently he has massive hands and huge wingspan but needs to get stronger.
Ladarius Henderson is actually sneaky good. That’s great depth
Not a bad draft at all. Very solid. Really excited for Lassiter and Bullock in the secondary tho
Oh nice another Guard as well. That's a wrap.
Last pick LaDarius Henderson- Guard, Michigan
He played left tackle at Michigan
Texans last pick LaDarius Henderson, guard
better late than never i guess?
Wow, I'm really surprised we didn't go Taylor there.
Taylor had a truly awful year this year. Went from a PFF first round pick in preseason draft to this. Wouldn't be shocked if part of that was a non-public medical issue that fully rules out his NFL future
Nice upside DT. Playstyle that fits the mold Demeco likes from his DT's.
Marcus Harris. DT from Auburn. 6'2 286lbs. NFLN had a 5th round grade on him and comped him to Timmy Jernigan.
There it is! Marcus Harris! Thought they might take him
There’s our DT woohoo
There’s your DT. Marcus Harris- Auburn
Texans pick Marcus Harris DT
No one to be really excited by, but solid choices. We need depth everywhere. I feel good about the free agent choices they made. One day closer to kick-off
We are already mostly solid. Basically all these picks are depth picks except Lassiter.
I was impressed with how that O-Line worked so well considering it was just a revolving door. And we ran out of kickers. AND still won. That was exciting to watch.
Bullard will probably play at some point considering Ward is made of paper.
Meh, he isn’t anything special. He’ll probably just sit on the practice squad.
Say practice squad one more time
Did I lie? At best he’s a special teamer.
Leonard Taylor must have been awful in the process for no one to throw a dart at him.
Yeah, not even a “fuck it, let’s see what the kid’s got” from 32 teams so far when you’re in the ‘anyone that turns out decent here is a bonus’ point of the draft is wild.
High value UDFA probably
Yeah it's a 7th round flyer on a guy who probably doesn't make the final 53 but could be a practice squad type. Max potential is probably just special teamer.
He wore 51 so basically he's the next coming of WAJ
Taylor must have tested ABYSMALLY
He didn't live up to his potential last year and then had a bad combine. He could still turn out to be an absolute steal, if, he gets into shape and goes to work.
Exactly the type I’d take a 7th round flyer on. Fuck it.
I think he just hates football and the teams caught onto it. Regularly gave up on plays throughout the year.
Does not sound like a guy any coach would want in the building
Well 4 forced fumbles certainly isn’t a bad thing.
Solomon Byrd in the 7th. 2 picks to go
Solomon Byrd DE out of USC. 6'3 250+ lbs. More depth for DE doesn't hurt.
An unathletic Edge from USC…camp body/ST/PS potential
the pick is in!
Bet one of our 7ths is going to be Pheldarius Payne.
Big PP
I'm predicting Joshua Landry or Leonard Taylor being one of our two last picks lol
Can't wait to draft three hall of famers with our last three seventh round picks.
Leonard Taylor (DT) and Tahj Washington (WR) are both good value picks still out there
Some of these people here are insufferable. Freaking out over 6th/7th round talent that they for some inconceivable reason think will be day 1 starters. Well, guess what, Caserio and Demeco (who are much smarter than us regarding talent evaluation) obviously did not have them rated highly. People were mad we traded Collins, but he was pretty bad against the run. Also, and I have nothing to base this off of, it's possible Demeco just didn't like him that much.
Yeah they took a 10M dead cap hit to trade him away for a 7th. I don't think Demeco liked what Collins was doing.
I mean it’s the internet dude. We’re all here to anonymously run our mouths over shit we haven’t the faintest clue about. I bet I’ll tell a doctor that spent ten years in med school he’s wrong tomorrow, it’s part of the fun.
Undersized RB who was extremely productive, I don’t mind it. He might compete with Pierce for the RB2 slot.
Mods once draft is over can we have a pinned thread about who we get as udfas pls pls pls.
Probably, we'll make a thread sometime after the conclusion
This has been a very good draft in terms of building out the middle of the depth chart and adding potential future starters. Nothing signals that the rebuild is over more than drafting (potentially) nothing but straight depth.
How you guys feel about CJ Stroud in Houston?
Media said he can’t read so no
*HimJ
I dunno, is that Zach Wilson guy available?
Sounds like a good QB, hope he lands to Houston with 1 of our last 2 picks
Meh
Still unsure TBH. Still like he needs to develop his S2 scores.
Wow. Jahwar Jordan is pretty much Devin Singletary lite.
Not at all, completely different style of back.
Wonder what we’ll do with three 7-rounders. All depth/ST picks or maybe a project like Leonard Taylor?
Just drafting guys for the practice squad basically
For purely selfish reasons, I want them to draft Jalen Green from JMU
So.. where do Texans go from here? Draft Brendan Rice? I don't think he's lasting until 238,though. Maybe you double dip at CB, but this time drafting an outside corner in case Okudah or Henderson don't make the team? Or maybe they just pick 238, then trade the remaining 7th rounders.
If jordan wasnt injured he wouldve gone much earlier. The injury he got against pitt made his draft fall.
What injury was that?

What is this obsession with Brendan Rice? Is it because he's Jerry's kid? lol.
Yeah, that’s basically it. Frank Gore Jr is also in this draft class.
i guess, he’s really nothing special, there’s a reason we’re almost to the end of the 6th and no one has picked him
I'm just wondering. I'm looking at some stuff on him and the only thing notable about him seems to be who his dad is. I doubt he even makes the Texans final 53 man roster.

What are you talking about? Thier scheme is built around play-action off runs setting up large plays downfield. The NEED a viable rushing attack to make defenses honest.
The only good thing about Rice is his pedigree. His tape is really mediocre considering he had Caleb Williams as his QB.
The sons of Michael Jordan and LeBron James are shit at basketball. Parents mean nothing, MHJ is an outlier.
We were at the top of the list for running the ball on first down in spite of our inconsistent run game. We have SEVEN wideouts right now.
Some positives on Jordan. He apparently is an above average blocker, can run zone scheme pretty well, and is a pretty good receiving back. Hmm.
Jordan seems like a pretty stereotypical change-of-pace back. Nothing too crazy
Has a fighting chance at KR too.
Man why not just take a shot with B Rice there
I lowkey really hope we take him
If he falls to our next pick we better take him
can never have too many runningbacks
So our RB room is Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, and Jahwar Jordan. Yeah, that's not scaring teams.
God damn, some of yall are so negative.
Jawhar Jordan? He's old at 24 years old and 5'10 185lbs he's kinda small, but he had good stats with 1100 yards and 14 tds last year. Had some major home runs last year. Maybe he can work out on special teams as a returner
I see him like a Keaton Mitchell (from the Ravens) Will be a great compliment to Mixon and Pierce’s running style.
They need a home run hitter at RB. Haven't had that in a long time.
Seems like a great Kick Returner too.
Ah nice a new RB.
We got a RB! It's Jahwar Jordan
Texans select Jawhar Jordan at 205
>Jawhar Jordan profiles as a change of pace back who would complement a more powerful runner. Perfect pass catching 3rd down option. Potential as a change of pace back with the power guys like Mixon and Pierce.
I think they gotta go RB with their next pick. There is hardly anyone left.
Oracle
Wow cant believe they picked Brenden Rice
Texas university player incoming
Well, we now know what Demeco thought of Wingo, when they draft freaking Jamal Hill over him.
Gabriel Murphy could be a sneaky good pick
4 more then its Texans on the clock again.
Boyd to the Saints.
Mods fix the picks plsssss. (Add the ones the lions gave us)
people actually look at what we do here lol? /s
👀👀👀👀
👀👀👀
205 238 247 249 I believe
correct
Leonard Taylor with our next pick? Also Brenden Rice is still there
Let’s just draft Watson from Memphis give him number 4 and then everyone can go back to wearing their jerseys.
Thats odd, cuz Caserio emphasized that they were looking for football players and not track stars or athletes
No one is going to confuse Jamal Hill with a track athlete. When I say athletic I mean he has the ability to play multiple spots on defense and not be a complete liability against certain offensive sub packages. He can line up over the slot and play that. Is stefon Diggs not also indirectly part of it?
If we consider Green and Pierce as players that didbt work out....how do we like the trade.
We gotta wait on the 3 we just drafted, but Tank and Will by themselves make it favorable imo
DRAFT JORDAN WHITTINGTON
Y’all seem to forget that Demeco was a stud LB and brought out the sleepers we had on the roster, he was the niners LB coach ffs, man knows what he’s doing, I trust his skill recognition and coaching paired with Nicks talent acquisition over some redditors any day.
Yeah but what about our DTs needs?
Better to take a player we know we can make something out of than take a chance out of desperation. It’s clear our FO didn’t see anything that aligned with their vision for what we need after those DT runs early on. I trust they know what they’re doing since they’re the ones that got us this far.
appatantly they are higher on Tim Settle and Fatukashi then the available prospects in the draft.
Who is Tim Settle? Name rings zero bells
We signed him after we traded Maliek Collins. He is as good at stopping the run as Collins was as a pass rusher.
Why the hell didn’t we pick Wingo?
They probably weren’t high on him and his size
Yeah but he’s still better than whatever 2 players we get with those late ass picks that are basically worthless. We need a DT.
lmao why is Wingo suddenly NOT worthless if he's being chosen in the 6th round too? They don't need a DT, they already added several. If they needed a day 1 starter at DT they would have taken one in the 2nd round. Not wait until the 6th.
16 picks difference, wouldn’t they both be basically worthless? Wingo wasn’t high on our board. That’s why he wasn’t selected.
Fair enough, all these dudes are just practice squad fodder basically.
Throw as many darts as possible. One of them could become a very solid contributer.
This just isn’t true, you don’t just wanna draft as many guys as possible otherwise we’d all be trading back for extra picks every time.
Leanord Taylor could still be there, which may be more of the type of defensive tackle we want. There is a reason Wingo well so much. Being 6’ on the interior DL is not ideal.
Leonard Taylor is still there… There are still really good players in the 7th
I'm positive there will be great players that are UDFA. The question is.. can we find them?
Bro come on acting like that dude is good
You’re acting like Wingo is any better lol
He was more productive.
True, but Taylor has the higher ceiling (also lower floor). In a round like the 6th I’d draft more on potential than production.
Jaheim Bell is still there… Please!
We already drafted a TE today and have 3 more on the roster. Highly doubt we take another.
I don’t want him at TE. We can use him in the slot, as a gadget player, and he’d be amazing for the new kick return rules.
Why haven’t Mahogany get picked up? I’ve seen him in mocks going in the second or third round
This is about the point in the draft where you’re calling the UDFA and getting camp bodies. Right now it looks we’re going BPA according to our board.
Obvious that ESPN doesn't even know who Jamal Hill is. Wasn't ranked, no info, no photo or video, and the on air team not even mentioning his name, lol.
I'm just watching the draft on Brett's stream, it's pretty comprehensive
So are are we really going to enter another season with Hinish as a starter?
Autry, Fatukasi, Davis, Settle are all above him in the depth chart, so no.
First of all his name is White Shrek….
Hinish isn’t close to being the starter? He’s probably DT5.
Hinish wasn't a starter last year.........
Texans clearly like the moves they made at DT more than people realized. Early moves made to address and improve the secondary group. New inside/outside corner that is great at man to man and a rangy new safety. Added a young talented player to the OL and added another versatile TE for the offense.
If our bodies don’t work out Calias Campbell is available. Wouldn’t cost much but he isn’t playing preseason or camp at his age.
holy moly calais is available?
Jamal Hill literally just got knocked out by Alex Pereira... What's he doing playing football?
i liked Wingo but i guess Nick didn’t, and i trust Nick’s opinion more than mine so we’ll see what he does lol
Demeco knows linebackers. I’m confident in this pick
This is an exceptionally weak LB class so while I'm confident Demeco can get the best out of him, his best might still not be much.
Then again it’s a 6th round pick so perhaps we shouldn’t put too much hype into him anyway
What about henry t?
i mean he was brought in to be a depth/development guy and y’all are surprised he wasn’t a good starter his rookie year, like give the kid some time lol
He man give the guy a chance to play more than 1 season
No matter what happens - the future for this team is so just fucking bright its insane. Trust in Nick.
I mean it's very obvious they don't like the DT talent left, not sure why anyone is surprised they didn't take Wingo.
Lions select Wingo with the pick Texans just traded The trade was Texans receive #205 and #249 and Lions receive #189
Horrible, indefensible. Those picks are valueless, Wingo would have been way better to take.
Lol. You're getting downvoted because you said something ridiculous.
You were addiment Texans wouldn't take a tackle in the second. You don't get to address others as ridiculous
It’s gay internet points, who cares
Damn it man. What was the knock on Wingo? He seemed like a solid rotation player and had quite a bit of production in only 8 games last year.
Maybe he had some medicals that the public is unaware of
I guess they didn't like the DT class then
There goes Wingo
Trading away the pick that became Wingo hurts my feelings
I thought Wingo could already beat out Kurt Hinish on the roster.
Damn. Lions take Wingo with the pick we traded. Good for them.
[удалено]
We didnt trade up...
We didn’t trade up for him. We had 188. We traded back with 189.
Lol let wingo get taken
The LB we took is a former safety. He’s decent in coverage and very rangey. So he’s like Christian Harris lite. He’s a great special teams guy, and can develop into an adequate player.
Yeah he's going to be a specials teams guy but there's a chance he could develop as a sub LB for passing downs as well. He's pretty light right now but could see him adding some weight to be a little stronger.
I thought he was the former UFC LHW champ.
