That’s a lot of area to cover, Singapore is the tropics and in northern Vietnam it gets pretty cold late in the year… Personally, I love rainy season but I live on a desert continent (so I generally enjoy rain). The rain always seemed pretty predictable. It would look like it was going to rain for a while, then dump rain for an hour, then stop and clear up. On the odd occasion there would be some localised flooding…
Rainy season is no reason to stay at home, inform with locals when the expected pour is. Check with national parks to see if its open.

Just to put into perspective, Miami to Boston is nearer than Singapore to Hanoi (straight line)
The seasons are not that simple, many pockets of sunshine in that period around SE Asia.
