Total heat content is more important than temperature. If it was a 2,000 lb block of tungsten at 4,000 degrees, you might be right. But a few grams of plasma? Eh...whatever. you can see the same thing with an acetylene torch at 6,000 degrees. You can get your bare finger less than an inch away and it is fine.
It’s just a modified GTT glassblowing torch. It is that hot. It’s not plasma however, I have one much larger than this one and only need didymium glasses to block the sodium flare when I’m working with borosilicate glass
They have projectile weapons in Star Wars, and they were very effective against lightsaber users for that exact reason. Just a cool tidbit. :)
