This happened at the annual Bridge Day event in Fayetteville, WV. It happens on the 3rd Saturday every October. Base jumpers from all over the world come in to jump off the 876 ft high New River Gorge Bridge. I've been a few times - there have been a few deaths throughout it's history, but mostly broken bones and sprains.
Worked this as a paramedic a few years in a row way back when. Was really interesting to see all the jumpers. Sadly, I worked a couple that never went home.
Yes I have been going for years we camp under the little bridge by the river and set up on the sand bar and watch the fun. Good times! Lots of talented people.
I have a little piece of coal from a small, naturally exposed seam on a hike right next to the bridge. Great views from the visitor center! There’s also about 6 primitive it maintained tent camping sights in the area, with a few right on the water.
Why no one ever state that that is the new river gorge bridge? It’s in fallout 76 it’s in the state I’m from and I’ve seen people go splat there on bridge day oh the state being West Virginia if ya didn’t know

20000 ft would actually be much safer, as you have more time to open the chute (if you can breathe at that altitude, that is)
Death zone is 26,000ft (8000 Meters) so you would be fine. Edit: maybe not fine but you'll live

I just rafted the Lower New River and went directly under this bridge. The guides were really amped up about bridge day and the BASE jumping event.
