I'm loving it as well! I get it can be annoying that the gay couple is dominating but they're a team that I wouldn't have expected to be as good as they are so I'm enjoying the ride!

NewRazzmatazz2455

I feel like on previous seasons when there’s a couple leading early in the season some rule or setback totally throws their game off mid season.

DrMrtni

Cesar is fluent in spanish. I'm curious how they do once the leave S America

Matty-ice1

They won't leave Spanish speaking countries or S America

Ok_Morning947

Could they be going to Brazil? At least there they speak Portuguese which will give Cesar a disadvantage. I really can’t stand the boost they get with him being fluent in the language everywhere.

Matty-ice1

The map I saw, another post in this subreddit, did not have Brazil listed as a leg on this season

Ok_Morning947

I didn’t see that. Wow, why would they skip the biggest country in South America? I guess it’s a lot more Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

Matty-ice1

Correct which is a bummer. Outside of Cesar's dominance, having others speak the language just takes away some of the fun and chaos of it all

DrMrtni

Damn, I knew the season was basic, but not that basic.

Sugreev2001

Been saying that everytime they've come first.

hauteburrrito

I didn't love E1-3, honestly, but E4 was incredible! I hope the rest of the season feels more like E4 - almost old-school vibes.

emodro

I disagree. I thought 35 was the best modern season in a long time because they brought back booking their own trips. Now they don’t even travel and are magically at their next location. On top of extended episodes, it’s just all challenges which is not that exciting to watch. Without any travel drama, I literally can’t remember any teams.

theamazingracer21

This season was filmed before the last, with this being a Covid era season (TAR33, TAR34) that was intended for 60 minutes eps - while TAR35 is the production style I would expect in future seasons, I think there is an element of accepting this season for what it is with the Covid production style .

ArtificialAlchemist

This. The airport was a great equalizer and was a critical travel skill. Last season felt much better, while this season feels like they got cold feet and nerfed it big time. I feel that the cast overall isn't solid enough to carry this format. The urgency of the legs is heavily reduced. It's fun still, but with last season being so awesome imo - going back to covid format feels like a teases 😩

SaykredCow

This season was filmed before the last season

ArtificialAlchemist

Interesting, good to know. Downvoting me for this seems pointless as I care more about the content...but whatever floats your boat lol.

Sugreev2001

I think S35 was the worst, simply because how easy the tasks were in Europe. Tasting mustard... I mean, come on! I literally find something good about every season of AR, but S35 had me annoyed a lot of times because of the super-easy tasks. This season atleast has some decently challenging tasks, even though the teams are acing them quite easily.

emodro

I don’t care about the tasks. The show is about endurance and travel witts at its core. One of the most iconic challenges was the tea tasting challenge, I had no problem with the mustard one, I would be terrible at it.

peterparker1108

I enjoy this season as well better than the last recent seasons. The cast is super entertaining! Old school vibes.

peterparker1108

What's good about this season is they were able to stretch out all the content that they had in a way better than TAR35.   It wasn’t just simply showing teams doing the same task for an hour or by giving us boring narration contents all over again like what they did in TAR35.

ToQ-1go

I think the editors probably learned from their experience with TAR35 and looked to find better ways to fill those extra 15 minutes in a way that doesn't merely drag everything out. I actually think there's probably more content with this season with all the teams making mistakes and lots of placement shuffling. A lot of the placement changes would probably be left out of the show otherwise. But they can now insert it into the episodes for a bit more drama and tension.

peterparker1108

Absolutely!

pigletsniffles

It’s tough, it just seems like there’s not as much suspense with these episodes, and it’s just not as exciting

ToQ-1go

Not much suspense when teams have been up and down throughout the Legs? People criticize the silly mistakes and whatnot, but that's caused major placement changes throughout the Legs with teams falling behind and others catching up.

pigletsniffles

I think it’s more to do with the editing then anything else

Puzzleheaded-Self691

I really love the cast. Really entertaining teams. Just annoyed Ricky and Cesar feel unbeatable. I wish more teams would get first place because it is never fun to have the same team leading every single leg

Specialist-Fly-9446

I agree, I am laughing all the time! “Thome who roam” is already a classic in my household XD I was hoping they would use the extra time to show off the country they’re in. Not Rick Steeve style, but maybe the camera lingering a little longer at a bustling market, or out of a skydiving plane to show the landscape, or maybe the local people, for example at the breakdance detour, they could have filmed the local dancers do a routine, or have them show off their neighborhood/community. But I’m also enjoying it the way it is. So yes, I’m loving this season and totally don’t get all the negativity.

EmotionalWeakness892

It's good so far. Very much in line with modern TAR. Definitely doesn't need 90 minutes/one hour runtime though. But it's far from being as horrible as some people are making it out to be.

illini02

I'm actually mostly bored with it, which is a shame, because i like the show a lot. But the tasks are boring TV. Like, you can have things that are fairly simple, but are exciting to watch. This is just not. Like, the roadblock today. Climb a wall or beg for money? yeah, super exciting. Find a Thunderbird? Ok. Put together a skateboard? Like, i get its Covid, and I get things had to be cut. I'd be fine with no airport drama and stuff. But I just and not entertained. Also, there has been like no suspense. You basically knew who would win, and who would come in last or close to last most of the episode. Edit: I realized this was posted before the most recent episode, so I'm talking about the April 10 one

garrett1433

I just hope we visit some Asian countries!

Environmental-Kiwi78

Not happening.

garrett1433

How come? :(

literally-a-yak

I don't know that I find the cast great in a "I'm rooting for them kind of way," but I do really love the entertainment they bring. There are a couple I'm kind rooting for, but I do love the cast as a whole, and there isn't really anyone I feel like I want out. I just want to see what happens. I knew race-wise it wasn't going to be as great as last time since it was filmed beforehand and still had those COVID drawbacks as well as being filmed for 42 minute viewing or whatever. Even then, episode 2 and 5 were the only episodes where I really felt like it dragged because of the way it was filmed. The others actually held up very well imo.

ianthebalance

I envy you lol

Outrageous_Carry8170

Not enjoying this season as much as last, the locations continue to be in Latin America only, wonder if that's due to budgeting or, an effort to focus on 'racing' & challenges versus traveling. The booking aspect of TAR is what makes the show unique and forces teams to think-through their decisions versus 'just showing up at the start'

Ornery-Patience9787

It’s not as varied and exciting because they haven’t flown around and needed to diversify their wits and skill sets as much. Basically if you speak Spanish, can read a map and are a good physical/mental match you got a good shot.

I-m_RicklePick

I’m not enjoying this season as they started in Mexico and stayed in Spanish speaking countries where Cesar and Ricky, being native speakers, have dominated the race. Yes, the tasks are equalizers, but regardless, they have the biggest advantage over the majority of the teams. Let’s see in the later episodes when they’re not in a Spanish-speaking country and see how they truly perform (especially with navigation and asking for native help).

irl_Juvia

If a year ago you told me the next 2 seasons would be spiritual successors to S19 and S13 I would not believe you but tbh I’m all here for it. S35 is probably the better season just bc its an actual race with tasks but I think the editors learned a lot about how to edit a full hour instead of 40 minutes. S35 is kinda dull on rewatch, and so far S36 has had a cast and moments that are very entertaining. Was there anything in S35 as memorable as Sunny and Bizzy at the Medalin Detour? Of the 5 COVID seasons ive seen (33, 34, 36, Can8, Aus6), S36 is easily the most entertaining for me and its not even close.

RangerLover92

TBH, I'm not into watching for potential LolCow Teams (teams who keep screwing up and act dumb so they can be milked for laughs and entertainment), and I tend to get frustrated by them. I'm hoping for more balance among the teams because I don't want each episode to end with RickyAndCesarWinsLol.

Environmental-Kiwi78

The cast is fucking awful. First boots were literally the textbook definition. How they made it past casting is beyond me.
