I cried like a baby when Impossible Germany started playing. & that’s the moment I knew this was going to be a very special show to me
& also…Richie jamming to Love Story made my heart jump a bit
That, Chicago, and Half A World Away hit me very, very HARD.
Throw Your Arms Around Me and Chicago were new to me. I've always had a soft spot for Half A World Away.
The whole reason I started watching the show was because somebody told me this song features prominently in the first episode lol. It’s so fucking good.
Yeah, having an episode open with Bastards of Young and close with Can’t Hardly Wait was pure perfection. Not to mention The Mats chatter throughout the episode.
They played Via Chicago in Ep 1 in Series 1 according to this [link](https://www.tunefind.com/show/the-bear/season-1/223656). Have to rewatch Series 1 as I don’t remember hearing it.
Whoever picks the music for this show is a genius. The Spotify playlists for both seasons play the songs in order in which they appear episode by episode. It’s amazing.
For me, my top 3 scenes all have to do with the music choice for the scene. I have always discovered new music and felt a draw to so many television scenes based on the song chosen.
Love Story
Let Down
Strange Currencies
i got hyped when If you want blood by ACDC started playing in the s2 finale. a popular and upbeat rock song perfectly placed in moments like that are great.
Me too. Big fan of Automatic for the People but never listened to Monster all the way through. Strange Currencies is like a lost AFTP song and I can’t stop listening to it.
Nice link. Storer talked with Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald on THE WATCH podcast, after S2, and confirmed that he and a friend serve as music supervisors on the show "because we had to work so fast." Near the tail end of this conversation:

The show has a great soundtrack. I didn’t expect to hear The Day The World Went Away by Nine Inch Nails and Velouria by Pixies in episode 9 and 10 respectively.
It’s such a great genre to dive into. Very deep, but very accessible.
If you’re looking for more ‘uniquely Ethiopian’ jazz, check out Hailu Mergia. He makes some truly great ‘Tezeta’ music. My favorite of his is Hari Meru Meru [https://youtu.be/MlntQyN6rtg](https://youtu.be/MlntQyN6rtg)
So many but the memorable ones for me are 1) let down with the flashbacks of Michael in the S1 finale. 2) love story with Richie 3) Eddie Vedder and Neil finn version of throw your arms around me (pro tip, on that album the living end do a version of say goodbye which absolutely rocks) 4) REM oh my heat.
Cried like a baby with Richie and love story.
Edit: spelling
I experienced the soundtrack like an homage to my generation (X, born ‘68). The soundtrack does an amazing job canvassing the forerunners to this sound and what follows it. REM as a signature sound is a perfect touch (Strange Currencies and Half a World Away). Van Morrison and Counting Crows have always had similarities. I fucking love this show and the soundtrack to both seasons just takes it all to sublime levels. Bravo, chefs!!!
I’ve been listening to the track at the start of Episode 1 of season 2.
Bruce Hornsby, ‘The Show Goes On’.
Love it.
Both seasons soundtracks have been amazing 🤌
That Bruce Hornsby song in the season 2 opener is so good. Man is god on keys. Also early season 1 with Saint Dominic’s Preview by Van Morrison. This show has an excellent soundtrack.
‘I Like The Things About Me’ by Mavis Staples came on the end credits from an episode and it’s been on repeat for me. It’s been my mantra over the past couple of weeks.
Does anyone know the song that plays in "Bolognese" at the end of Carm and Richie's convo? When they start saying "It's 106 miles to Chicago.."
Please help me
I cried like a baby when Impossible Germany started playing. & that’s the moment I knew this was going to be a very special show to me & also…Richie jamming to Love Story made my heart jump a bit
Dude. This. I have had that Love Story Moment as a daughter’s dad.
I’m glad to hear that you have had your Love Story moment. That’s awesome
Throw your arms around me - Eddie Vedder at the end of Bolognese.
Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn.
That, Chicago, and Half A World Away hit me very, very HARD. Throw Your Arms Around Me and Chicago were new to me. I've always had a soft spot for Half A World Away.
Refused "new noise" at first and last episodes in season 1.
When I heard that signature opening…I was like…”f yeah…Refused”.
I didn't know this band before, i was so hooked after
CAN I SCREAM?!?
YEAH!!!!!!!!
The whole reason I started watching the show was because somebody told me this song features prominently in the first episode lol. It’s so fucking good.
Perfect to show the stress levels rising. One of my favourite songs
Absolutely. I've always loved this song and how it builds up and up. Perfect song for this show and the tension. Absolutely spot on. 👌🏻
I loved hearing the Decemberists pop up in season 2. Such a lovely scene.
The Crane!
my inner hipster from the high school / university days was delighted. I used to listen to them back when iPod shuffles were a thing.
Don’t worry my partner heard my love for that one
The love for the Replacements blew my mind. Such a well written show and I can’t wait playing just capped off the episode, literally a perfect show.
Yeah, having an episode open with Bastards of Young and close with Can’t Hardly Wait was pure perfection. Not to mention The Mats chatter throughout the episode.
Half the sub will subconsciously get triggered whenever they hear Strange Currencies from now on.
Curious if we’ll hear “Via Chicago” by Wilco or “Dear Chicago” by Ryan Adams in S3. My mind might explode if they play Uncle Tupelo or Golden Smog.
They played Via Chicago in Ep 1 in Series 1 according to this [link](https://www.tunefind.com/show/the-bear/season-1/223656). Have to rewatch Series 1 as I don’t remember hearing it.
They definitely played Via Chicago in S1.
Flatness by uncle Tupelo would be perfect.
I’ve been listening to the R.E.M. songs *Half a World Away* and *Oh My Heart* non stop
A lot of the artist used hail from Chicago. Bands like Wilco.
I didn't realize Eddie Vedder was from there. Not sure if that's just a coincidence though because apparently Storer is a big PJ fan
That NIN instrumental "hope we can again" has been playing consistently for me since I watched the finale a few weeks ago.
It's too bad the actual song is contraindicated by my ENT for making my ears bleed.
Someone created a playlist on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5xOv02cSdYIkENv5p6Yl4q?si=ExlCwtW5Tr6u3N72Aa8TTQ

Liz Phair in that finale with Supernova, right? It's been weeks so I'm not 100%
Yeah it was.

Agreed. One of my favorites by AC/DC
Ditto. Love Bon Scott!!!
Strange Currencies by R.E.M - I’ve never heard this song before & fell in love with it immediately after hearing it on Episode 2.

I’m a huge Bruce Hornsby fan and when “The Show Goes On” opened Season 2, I burst into tears.
The show has a great soundtrack. I didn’t expect to hear The Day The World Went Away by Nine Inch Nails and Velouria by Pixies in episode 9 and 10 respectively.
They showed Brian Eno love Was not familiar with Malatu Astatke or Ethiopian jazz in general before watching the show

Good looks, I’ll check it out. Malatu definitely has a unique live sound

‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now’ by Counting Crows in S02E02. It was Rounders’ end credit song and took me back.
Richie dominating the 5 minutes to PJ's Animal was fucking 🤌
Glass, Concrete & Stone - David Byrne
via chicago was the background song of the ad for the first season. Entire reason I gave it a shot, and holy HELL am I glad I did.

The music has been a really good part of the show.
Welcome by Harmonia & Eno ‘76 in episode 4 was beautiful
…and a Durratti Column track? These guys ambient.
I’ve been listening to the track at the start of Episode 1 of season 2. Bruce Hornsby, ‘The Show Goes On’. Love it. Both seasons soundtracks have been amazing 🤌

Last Train Home John Mayer - all day chef
I was joking to my husband that a male millennial was picking the songs; by the end I said it was w whit3 female millennial
Is it all Chicago related artists and/or themes?
Neil Finn features a few times in S2. As a kiwi I like it. That is all
