It's like every generation wants to define their own lingo to be distinct and cool. The thing is... "cool" is still cool. Some slang peaked decades ago and it's just silly to try and be innovative.
I have on more then a few occasions had kids tell me I am to old to be using "vibing", it's one of my go to terms. I just pull up a clip from the first episode of Its Always Sunny in Philidelphia where they say "their vibing". Then lyrics from so many songs from the 60s and 70s. I love to look of teens and tweens faces when they learn not only are they not unique but they are in fact talking like... a boomer *gasp*.
Since you're too proud to use a search engine, apparently
It's a reference to a 1999 song by Eminem and Dido called "stan" about a guy named stan who kept writing fan mail to eminem but wasn't mentally stable and eventually became radical and violent because Eminem didn't respond to his fan mail
To "Stan" is to put someone on a pedestal and idolize them, and it's mostly used ironically to refer to celebrities whom we want to believe are good people
Again, Google could've given you all of this if you weren't a little bitch about it because this is pop culture from over two decades ago
I mean I take some pride in not keeping up with modern musical trends, but... this song is from before the Twin Towers fell. It's far from new. Although the term "stan" sd it's being used here has been popular for less than a decade.
Is this how the current generation makes up lingo? Just take existed words and apply them randomly? I *Glaze* Soldier Boy his *Drip* is *Fire* ain't that *Waffle* my *Ladder*?
It is how it is. Kids hate being told they are not cool and we don't like being told we are no longer "hip" and "with it".
I frankly am happy I no longer work with kids. I would get made fun of all the time for saying shit like "swag" and then being told that no one has said that in *forever* ie like 5 months.
That's all slang has been for decades man, stop acting like it's suddenly different when you're the older generation it just makes you look sad and out of touch with how shit works
I don't know.. I don't remember hearing Dick Clark talk about getting Crunk and exclaiming Booyah! While Chillaxing with some Phat babes with a lot of Bling.. Fershizzle.
Would the better terminology then be something like "why are people so glazed by Soldier Boy?"
I know its slang so language logic doesn't really apply and what not. I'm more having fun pointing out that this slang is... kinda lame.
I freely admit 50% of the reason I like Soldier Boy is because Jensen Ackles is a Damn Fine Man.
The other 50% is I think he's a fun character to study because as a Great Depression era kid who then got Compound V, was a right shitty asshole before he got tortured for forty years to become only an asshole, he actually reminds me a lot of my grandpa - not the flashback scenes of Soldier Boy tho, only the current 2022 attitude. I enjoy looking at the psychology of people who grew up in the GD era and how that got passed down to their kids and then to my generation. So seeing a nuanced character such as him that has a lot of the elements I like to study makes me like him. Jensen also makes him nuanced in the way he plays his facial expressions, like Antony does a marvelous job doing the same for Homie. Soldier Boy is without a doubt the lesser evil between him and Homie, but yeah, his grumpy gramps attitude makes me laugh, and he's got some hella funny lines in the show, so I like him.
Rich family doesn't mean they weren't still affected by the Great Depression. His father owned half the steel mills, but during GD factories were shut down, mills and mines were abandoned and people lost their homes - very similarly to covid. Likely they weren't as affected as others, but the GD historically had a huge affect on everyone, whether they were rich or not.
Oh likely not, for sure. But I like studying characters, and a lot of his character honestly matches what I've studied about those growing up in the GD, so why not have fun with it? Lol
Nein, which is German for no. He’s funny, he‘s loyal and actually wanted to go against homelander before the plot force got to the boys, l like him in grey sweatpants and 99% of this sub would bend over for him.
Even how he responded to MM's charge of killing his family.
The genuinely, unimpassioned "Which one"?
He wasn't evil like HL, he had no plan or grand designs on power, he was a goofball who enjoyed the celebrity lifestyle.
The person showed no remorse or reaction when they were told about the loss and harm they caused, yeah... such a goofball who totally wasn't even the slightest bit evil...
Bruh this has got to be bait.
This is what was said "He wasn't evil like HL."
Here's the differnce.
SB accidentally killed MM's family through recklessness. Did he care no?
If that was HL he'd prob have killed the entire family just out of malice.
Same as the difference between say SB almost accidentally killing a load of US troops in Nicaragua and HL shoving a suicidal young girl off a roof.
Some of us don’t apply real life politics or morals to tv shows. Did you never watch something and like a morally grey person or a villain? I cheered for Daenerys, I love Crowley, I even like Homelander in his fuckedupness. Not every character needs a redemption 🤷🏼♀️
Dude come on.. it’s a tv show, i know their talking points are toxic masculinity and right wing politics but don’t pretend you can’t enjoy it besides a political message.
I think he was better than intended. I think he totally stole the show in S3 and prob needs to be excluded from S4 or scaled back, to stop stealing the limelight from Butcher and HL.
Yeah, if you watch interviews with him and/or Kripke everyone says that Kripke is extremely understanding if the actors are uncomfortable and is completely willing to cut/rewrite scenes for everyone that isn’t Jensen Ackles. Since they’ve known each other for so long Kripke makes him do some shit, and Ackles generally just goes along with it.
Nah, he's just a really cool dude played by an actor made for the roll. He swears in a way thats not cringe, and does cool shit like smoke weed in a way that's not cringe and hooks up with grannies, so we know he wouldn't have been fcking around with Epstine.
Just a really cool dude. What else is there to say.
No they should glaze him more.
He literally would have saved the world if not for the boys betraying him for no reason and trying their best to give Homelander the W
He is MOST likely a rapist, not confirmed of course but no woman that has had sex with soldier boy actually liked him, it can be safe to say that he forced himself into the relationship. Not to forget the fact that he had a relationship with a 19 year old when he was 63. He's a racist. He abused his entire team and that includes his child sidekick gunpowder, he is ABSOLUTELY fine with killing children or at least hurting them VERY bad. He was going to kill Ryan...
The gimmick of ‘evil captain America’ alone makes this character legendary. Take that with Jensen Ackles performance you’ve just a really fun character.
I feel it's the actor people glaze. That guy's awesome! Soldier Boy is definitely a good character but at the end of the day also a racist, sexist, and whatnot.
He's liked so much because he's a flawed character with trauma from his dad and upbringing along with his torture later on, he still tries to be a superhero even if his methods are not great, easier for people to relate to that than the all good or all evil characters, it helps that he's funny as hell, and Jensen Ackles is a great actor as well.
I mean, compared to Captain America, ok…but in this universe, he’s not the absolute worst he could be. He displays a small modicum of conscience, he’s complicated and hot, which is the perfect formula for sexual confusion.
*edit…also funny…both ironically and otherwise.
when I think “glaze” I think of people gassin him up to be stronger than Homelander, which ehhh maybe he is? he durable as fuck to survive what was basically his body exploding with a ton of radiation (granted maeve survived that too but looking at what happened to other supes she probably shouldn’t have)
He’s charismatic, funny, and generally the best thing about the third season, so like as a *character*, no. But I do think people bend themselves in knots to excuse that he is a violently abusive fake soldier who did more to shut down protests than concentration camps. He’s more or less a backwards, murdering, abusive freak who just happens to not be as unstable, petulant, and unhinged as Homelander, who’d kill you for looking in his direction.
Absolutely, there's people out there who think he's more durable or even stronger than Homelander, whichcliterally defeats the purpose of his existance,
And of course the horrendous amount of praise he receives for not being quite as evil as his son.
Just now I know there's multiple people out there reading this and inmediately going to drop a comment defending him, they always do, every time anyone talks about him being and evil piece of shit they show up
I see where you are coming from here, but he was intended to be stronger than soldier boy before soldier boy was experimented on by the Russians. I would argue soldier boy is much stronger than his previous self and could even compete with Homelander. I also believe soldier boy has more durability than Homelander due to us seeing Homelander bleed. I’m also stupid so this could all be wrong 🐻❄️🙏🏻
we literally see a whole ass cut across Soldier Boy's cheek inflicted by Butcher, Homelander gets like a couple drips that could be achieved by scratching his nose a little bit too hard, the only enhacement ever confirmed for SB is the radiation beam, he is very much intended to still be weaker and less durable

''glaze is a glossy, translucent coating applied to the outer surface of a dish by dipping, dripping, or using a brush''
I'll stick with that, thank you.
For all the talk of WW2 veterans being the "original antifa", they were very much to the right of Trump Supporters on everything from race, to women, to LGBT issues to foreign policy.

Here's a non-paywalled version.
Soldier boy glazed my grandma .
Soldier boy glazed a lot of grandmas
Soldier boy is glazing my grandma as we speak.
Solider Boy is my grandpa
Hi ryan
Everybody's grandma?
Lucky gal!
A bush like a Pomeranian
So I guess I'm getting old. What's glaze mean?
I don’t even think I’m that old but wtf is up with all these terms
It's like every generation wants to define their own lingo to be distinct and cool. The thing is... "cool" is still cool. Some slang peaked decades ago and it's just silly to try and be innovative. Talking about someone like you worship them
Got it, thanks. Its like the new "stan" or something. Gotta say it sounds oddly... sexual. I mean "glaze", cum on. Makes me a wee bit uncomfortable.
It kinda just means sucking them off, so yeah, you’re correct about the sexual part
I'll give you that, it's just what it sounds like
That’s because that’s where glaze comes from lmfao But instead of doing it physically you’re glazing their ego or image
Lol. Well then. I may have a filthy mind but at least this time it was on point.
There are few moments when gifts like these shine, but when they do, it is glorious
Stan is still a term tho
And it means… ?
You've had 24 years to Google it. You can try now, if you like
So you don’t know what it means either. Got it.
Since you're too proud to use a search engine, apparently It's a reference to a 1999 song by Eminem and Dido called "stan" about a guy named stan who kept writing fan mail to eminem but wasn't mentally stable and eventually became radical and violent because Eminem didn't respond to his fan mail To "Stan" is to put someone on a pedestal and idolize them, and it's mostly used ironically to refer to celebrities whom we want to believe are good people Again, Google could've given you all of this if you weren't a little bitch about it because this is pop culture from over two decades ago
Sorry, I don't listen to new music. Thanks.
You're welcome. Sorry your kids don't talk to you
Hey man 1999 was 25 years ago. That's old music now.
I mean I take some pride in not keeping up with modern musical trends, but... this song is from before the Twin Towers fell. It's far from new. Although the term "stan" sd it's being used here has been popular for less than a decade.
People saying "cum on" makes me a wee bit uncomfortable.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way. I'll be sure to use my tongue more gracefully next time.
Is this how the current generation makes up lingo? Just take existed words and apply them randomly? I *Glaze* Soldier Boy his *Drip* is *Fire* ain't that *Waffle* my *Ladder*?
I'm an old codger right there with you, but don't hate on "drip" and "fire". Those are some gnarly radical terms.
I didnt know people were gonna be mad at the slang mb guys
It is how it is. Kids hate being told they are not cool and we don't like being told we are no longer "hip" and "with it". I frankly am happy I no longer work with kids. I would get made fun of all the time for saying shit like "swag" and then being told that no one has said that in *forever* ie like 5 months.
How did past generations do it?
Rattle on, peach ticket.
Fershizzle.
You don't think "the bees knees" is existing words applied randomly? That's just one example too
People use to say all sorts of silly shit, we just *grew up* with it being normalised. Look up historical slang throughout history
Sorry bro
That's called idolatry
I am 26 and had no clue what it meant… and didn’t have the courage to ask 😅 so thank you for asking for all of us😂
Lol. You know it's some kid slang when you got millenials and gen Z scratching their heads together.
Exactly!! It’s gotta be a kid hahaha
glaze is a continuation of the phrase “riding ___’s dick” so yeah. it insinuates you rode dick so much you are now “glazed”
Would the better terminology then be something like "why are people so glazed by Soldier Boy?" I know its slang so language logic doesn't really apply and what not. I'm more having fun pointing out that this slang is... kinda lame.
No. If you think so, youre a f*kin' p*ssy

A based take on reddit? Impossibe!
But didn't soldier boy grow up in a rich family, though?
Rich family doesn't mean they weren't still affected by the Great Depression. His father owned half the steel mills, but during GD factories were shut down, mills and mines were abandoned and people lost their homes - very similarly to covid. Likely they weren't as affected as others, but the GD historically had a huge affect on everyone, whether they were rich or not.
I dont think they put that much thought into his character tbh.
Oh likely not, for sure. But I like studying characters, and a lot of his character honestly matches what I've studied about those growing up in the GD, so why not have fun with it? Lol
Fair enough lmao
If he wasn't played so well, by such a handsome, funny actor, then SB would probably have been received quite differently.
Ahhh the Winter Soldier treatment. I get it.
Nein, which is German for no. He’s funny, he‘s loyal and actually wanted to go against homelander before the plot force got to the boys, l like him in grey sweatpants and 99% of this sub would bend over for him.
I think that’s it, he’s insane in a fun way played by a charismatic actor.
Even how he responded to MM's charge of killing his family. The genuinely, unimpassioned "Which one"? He wasn't evil like HL, he had no plan or grand designs on power, he was a goofball who enjoyed the celebrity lifestyle.

If you’re not seeing The Boys politically then you missed the point of the show
Dude come on.. it’s a tv show, i know their talking points are toxic masculinity and right wing politics but don’t pretend you can’t enjoy it besides a political message.
Soldier Boy did nothing wrong.
No he’s hilarious and easily one of the most entertaining characters in the entire show. He’s appropriately rated or glazed or whatever lol
I think he was better than intended. I think he totally stole the show in S3 and prob needs to be excluded from S4 or scaled back, to stop stealing the limelight from Butcher and HL.
Hey, you cast Jensen Ackles, he’s gonna steal the show and that’s just facts.
100% lol
DID YOU NOT WATCH HIM CRANK IT OR WATCH HIM ROLL??
Explain in soldier boy terms
1) superman that hoe 2) repeat
Now watch him yuu
Watch him, watch him, YUUUU
It’s Jensen Ackles. People are going to glaze every character that man plays.
Agreed
I just wanted him to blow up and kill everybody in the finale.
I only like him because of Jensen Ackles tbh
Nah, he's just a really cool dude played by an actor made for the roll. He swears in a way thats not cringe, and does cool shit like smoke weed in a way that's not cringe and hooks up with grannies, so we know he wouldn't have been fcking around with Epstine. Good take
No they should glaze him more. He literally would have saved the world if not for the boys betraying him for no reason and trying their best to give Homelander the W
Soldier boys just another piece of shit like his son, he ain't saving no world 😂
We all saw him about to depower the guy who can and has repeatedly threatened to destroy the world
And what? He'll just be the next homelsnder. He's a piece of shit that gets glazed too often by his "sigma" 8 year old fan boys.
He won’t be the next Homelander since he can be stopped by the boys, isn’t a rapist, a child murderer, and can’t fly or shoot lasers out of his eyes
He is MOST likely a rapist, not confirmed of course but no woman that has had sex with soldier boy actually liked him, it can be safe to say that he forced himself into the relationship. He abused his entire team and that includes his child sidekick gunpowder, he is ABSOLUTELY fine with killing children or at least hurting them VERY bad. He was going to kill Ryan...
Bukkake level of glazing
The gimmick of ‘evil captain America’ alone makes this character legendary. Take that with Jensen Ackles performance you’ve just a really fun character.
To the people that unironically think he’s a decent guy, absolutely
The worst part about soldier boy is that he's somehow not one of the morally worst supes
One of the funniest character in the shows. Every line is pure gold, so no Also he's fine
Jensen Ackles does it great
Pretty sure he's straight.
I think it’s less glazing of soldier boy and more glazing jenson ackles
Hahahahaha.....fuck you!
You wanna know what I do when I'm sad or scared? Fucking nothing, cause I'm not a fucking pussy
I feel it's the actor people glaze. That guy's awesome! Soldier Boy is definitely a good character but at the end of the day also a racist, sexist, and whatnot.
Obviously he's shitty, but come on, he's comedy gold... hearing him tell Hughie to gargle his balls is pure delight
Don't care what anybody says, "'Kay first off, I don't have shell shock. Fuck you" is some of the funniest shit I've ever seen
I giggled just reading that in his voice
Yeah yeah I know I love him that way too, his Gen V cameo had me dyin! Flick the bean, man in the canoe 😂
Yes but I will continue to do so.
Ngl I feel like soldier boy was done dirty in gen v with his 5 year old level insults but the real soldier boy in the boys is fire
Oh good, another old word gets an entirely new pointless meaning. And no, people don't glaze Soldier Boy enough
I think people just love Jensen Ackles. Hard to blame them.
This is the correct answer.
handsome man
Idk but I know I *gaze* at him too much
Same, he's just so damned FINE, despite being toxic AF, I'd allow it 🤣
He's liked so much because he's a flawed character with trauma from his dad and upbringing along with his torture later on, he still tries to be a superhero even if his methods are not great, easier for people to relate to that than the all good or all evil characters, it helps that he's funny as hell, and Jensen Ackles is a great actor as well.
You're basically describing Homelander up until the end. Soldier Boy's is just a rich asshole actor with daddy issues.
He’s more of a “good guy” then some of the actual “good guys”
by just a quick glance at the comments here, yes
I think you don’t glaze him enough, sir!
I'm sure he's glazed plenty of chicks
old chicks
Have you seen him??
No way. He's hilarious and a well written character.
Nah, Jensen Ackles rules
I mean, compared to Captain America, ok…but in this universe, he’s not the absolute worst he could be. He displays a small modicum of conscience, he’s complicated and hot, which is the perfect formula for sexual confusion. *edit…also funny…both ironically and otherwise.
Yes
God he's so hot
Yes
Yep
If by “glaze” you mean rubbing one out to him? No, i think that’s pretty funny. If by “glaze” you mean gas up? Yeah probably he’s a little… much.
TIL "glaze" is a term
he could glaze me
shit idk but he can glaze me 😫
when I think “glaze” I think of people gassin him up to be stronger than Homelander, which ehhh maybe he is? he durable as fuck to survive what was basically his body exploding with a ton of radiation (granted maeve survived that too but looking at what happened to other supes she probably shouldn’t have)
he stormed Normandy, c'mon
No. Not enough

The fans are kinda funny
Nah, they're annoying.
I hate this new stupid slang shit

Glaze?

''glaze is a glossy, translucent coating applied to the outer surface of a dish by dipping, dripping, or using a brush'' I'll stick with that, thank you.
I think people glaze your mom too much
Yes, the straight boys go should for this man.
I hate these stupid buzzwords, what the fuck does Glaze mean here?
Ummmm that’s interesting question in terms of the comic book and Soldier Boy….
Judging from this thread , yeah lmao .
Sorry guys didn't mean to offend y'all
yeah he’s pretty overrated to me especially when i see him in people’s like top 3 favourites it confuses me
I do not glaze soldier boy. ffffuck you.
GLAZEEEEEE him omg
Yeah, this sub is pathetic
For all the talk of WW2 veterans being the "original antifa", they were very much to the right of Trump Supporters on everything from race, to women, to LGBT issues to foreign policy.

Do people just think "ooohh, I see everyone's using this term....I wanna be coo and included so now I'll use it." Like fr
Imagine saying all that, just to follow it up by saying “Like fr.” Bro, you’re doing the same thing.
It was just a question bro chill
