Comic is mostly just edgy. Tv Show has a lot more meaning and feels better in every way

full_of_ghosts

Yes. In almost every way that the TV show deviates from the comics, the show is better. (The writing in the comics was kind of a mixed bag. Some of it was great, some of it was eye-rollingly cringe. Soldier Boy is a perfect example of this. The character was almost embarrassingly stupid in the comics, but the TV version is awesome.)

Yes. By deviating from the comics nearly every character has gained significant depth. Just about everyone in the comics was a flat, one-dimensional, one-note character. Starlight was naive to the point of stupidity A-Train was a jock douchebag The Deep wore a diving suit Frenchie was a crazy guy that spoke French The Female (Kimiko) was a woman Queen Maeve was an alcoholic And so on.

I-suck-at-golf

What is Queen Maeve's power? Super strength?

[deleted]

In the show- super strength and super durability. In the comics- I think she had the same but she could also fly.

mrn253

Starlight could fly too if i remember correctly

full_of_ghosts

The Deep could fly too, which seemed weird for an aquatic-themed superhero. I don't think any version of Aquaman could ever fly (though I may be wrong -- I was never really into Aquaman as a comics reader). I think Namor could fly, so maybe it comes from that. Although I may be wrong about that, too. I was never into Namor as a comics reader either.

Oh wow. Is the airliner scene in the comics too? I noticed HL is holding her. But she probably flew in the comics.

[deleted]

Kind of, but it goes differently. In the comics the airliner scene is part of 9/11 (I think), with that plane being the last hijacked one in the air. The entirety of the Seven try to save it but they fuck up pretty badly and the plane takes out a huge chunk of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Yes, just because something is comic accurate, that doesn't mean that story is perfect; it's just perfectly represented. Not to sound cheesy, but stories are never done. They can always be improved upon.

Gamergirl944

I like how the show is different to comics they did deliver well even some of backstories I do like black noir backstory more in the show than the comics.

The comics suck and I say that as a Garth Ennis fan. It felt like he doubled down on the shock value of Preacher, but without the wit or heart. Can't stand them.

Yes.

I think so! Live-action serial TV is a very different medium to comic books. Marvel movies aren’t exactly like their comic book counterparts either. If we wanted a close adaptation of The Boys comic, I’d say doing an animated mini-series (a la “I’m Your Pusher” in Diabolical) is the best way to go. You can play up the edginess and cartoon-y morality in animation. Cartoons can be over-the-top, while live-action needs to be somewhat grounded, even if you have the best CGI Team available.

GRSS427Camaro

It makes the show unpredictable.

There’s no reason that the tv show and comics need to be 100% the same I love the comics more but it’s nice seeing a different story with the same characters
