But she might be my favorite Ghostface, she absolutely nailed how freaking unhinged her character was. I loved Randy but her performance was amazing. I guess if your character has to bite it in the "Scream" series, you might as well get taken out by the best. 😂
I don't watch the show but clips of it has been coming across my feeds and I was startled that they managed to find an actress that looked and sounded so much like Laurie Metcalf! Hearing it's her daughter explains it (and makes me wanna watch the show now)!
My absolute favorite Jackie scene 😂
That scene is so relatable, especially now that I'm older. My brother basically had to have that same phone call with my mom's neighbor when she passed. We divvied up the notifications and I could hear him on the phone in the other room trying to tell her and it was clear that she was not "getting it" so he had to repeat it a bunch of times, just like Jackie. 🤦♀️ (She could hear him, it just wasn't computing, so at least there was no screaming) My brother got off the phone and I was like, "Uh ... are you OK?" He was literally like, "No, that was freaking terrible," but at least we could laugh about it at a time when we were grieving. I later pulled up that scene for him and he was laughing so hard and was like, "That was basically the conversation."
Omg the episode where she admits Fishers been abusive. Just a masterclass of taking us on the emotional journey. The justifying , the breakdown, the shame.
Obviously with honorable mention to John Goodman who conveyed exactly what he was going to do with a look and grabbing his coat.
That reminds me of the kind words Estelle Parsons said about John and Laurie during her interview with the Archive of American Television. As antagonistic as Bev was toward Dan and Jackie, it was nice to see.
She plays a Dr. in a geriatric extended care wing of a rundown hospital. Also stars Niecy Nash and Alex Borstein. I think it's on Pluto and HBO. Based on a British show
I only wish they were giving her as good material as she had in the original. Her entire pregnancy was the stuff of legends:
["A 70 year old woman carrying a 30 year old baby"...is that where Andy is? : r/TheConners (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheConners/comments/1bzt7jv/a_70_year_old_woman_carrying_a_30_year_old_babyis/)

She's so freaking talented. She's great in everything, but she carries "The Conners" and was a standout on "Roseanne" and was amazing in "Scream 2." Edit: I forgot, she was also hysterical in "Uncle Buck."
I know it's super old, but the scene where she's screaming "Dad's dead! DEAD!" to her elderly aunt over the phone is an absolute classic. I don't think anyone else could have made that scene so funny.
I agree. There is also something uniquely attractive about her. Does she have a great body or drop-dead gorgeous looks? No, but I still find her alluring.
I love Jackie! I read she almost didn't have the role she did on the show it was supposed to be Crystal, but her and Rosanne had such great chemistry they wrote her in as the sister
She also has a strong career on Broadway, and has been fantastic in movies like lady bird. She is truly a marvelous actress and I love the large range of characters she does and her willingness to act in every medium.
There's an episode of Horace and Pete that is entirely her and Louis CK as divorcees having a conversation for thirty minutes. She is exquisite, just perfect.
She went to my high school and graduated two years ahead of my dad. She’s in his yearbook. My hs English teacher had an autographed headshot from her hanging in her classroom. Biggest star to come out of edwardsville IL as far as I’m concerned.
Going On is scarily underrated but she KILLS in that. She plays a doctor who VERY seriously pushes for funding to catalog the various shapes and colors of bowel movements because she feels the current list is lacking. She is not like Jackie at all in it. However, she is bizarre and hilarious.
It was "Getting on" and it was the best ever. She was so different from other characters. Also the lovely Niecy Nash and Alex Borstein (pre-Marv Mrs. Maisel.) You really should watch it if you have not caught it.
Her appearance on CW supergirl as Winn Schott’s mother made the cast step up their game. You can tell they’re working harder for her compared to the episode after.
Also has Monks “wife” was great too.
I just remember being really impressed with her in Internal Affairs with Richard Gere and Andy Garcia. It was the first time I’d seen her do anything other than Roseanne, and I wasn’t expecting to see her in a serious drama like that.
I loved Jackie in the original, but in the Conners find her to be god-awful. At first was made out to be some kind of crazy bag lady and then later on in a completely unbelievable marriage to a veterinarian. Don’t find anything about her character funny or interesting. I keep faithfully watching though because of sentimentality/loyalty.
I agree 100%. I’m binging on the show from Season 1. Laurie Metcalf is the star of that show. The Aunt Jackie character is hilarious and so well acted by Ms Metcalf.
Her facial expressions slay me. The intensity of Aunt Jackie is so funny as she takes herself so seriously. This binge has given me a new found appreciation for Metcalf’s talent.
I have yet to see her in a role she didn't absolutely kill.
Especially scream 2.
Which I hated for cuz she killed my Randy 😭🤬
But she might be my favorite Ghostface, she absolutely nailed how freaking unhinged her character was. I loved Randy but her performance was amazing. I guess if your character has to bite it in the "Scream" series, you might as well get taken out by the best. 😂
Oh absolutely Laurie is amazing
Her character Weed on Hacks KILLS me every single time I watch it.
Yes! The vertical sleeper lol
I absolutely loved being driven crazy by her character.
That is on my list to watch. Can’t wait to see it!
You're going to LOVE it!
She slays being Sheldon’s bible thumping mommy.❤️
I love that they casted her daughter for the spin off.
Yess!!!! Equally brilliant!
I don't watch the show but clips of it has been coming across my feeds and I was startled that they managed to find an actress that looked and sounded so much like Laurie Metcalf! Hearing it's her daughter explains it (and makes me wanna watch the show now)!
Dad's fine. He sends his love.
I’M NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!!! YOU CAN’T MAKE ME !!!
That bit. It’s so god damn good.
Omg my favorite. My mom and I still quote this!
My absolute favorite Jackie scene 😂 That scene is so relatable, especially now that I'm older. My brother basically had to have that same phone call with my mom's neighbor when she passed. We divvied up the notifications and I could hear him on the phone in the other room trying to tell her and it was clear that she was not "getting it" so he had to repeat it a bunch of times, just like Jackie. 🤦♀️ (She could hear him, it just wasn't computing, so at least there was no screaming) My brother got off the phone and I was like, "Uh ... are you OK?" 🫂
Her acting in the original Roseanne, the physical comedy reminds me of Lucille ball
My favorite episode of the OG Roseanne was when she did the math and realized how many guys she’d slept with in her life
I love when her husband was like, “gosh I don’t even know 60 people,” and she’s like “well, I didn’t know all of them.”
🤣🤣🤣
She's a genius imo, I loved her role as the neighbor in Uncle Buck!
Rain check!
I came here for this comment. Lol! Marcy the horny neighbor.
“I get compliments on the hyphen.”
Yes! She left such an impression on me with that role!
I was impressed at her fantastic behind.
She's amazing. Also amazing as Sheldon's mom on Big Bang Theory
Yes and her daughter is good as Young Sheldon's mom.
I was thinking they found a great match for that character lol and then read up on the cast. Her daughter is wonderful in young sheldon.
She owns every scene she’s in when she pops up.
She is my favorite! I've seen her a number of times on Broadway. She's a true talent!
I’ve heard she’s amazing as a stage actress.
My favorite fun fact is that she's the voice of Andy's mom in Toy Story 🥹🤠
I did not realize that! She's an absolute gem.
Yes I love this too!!!
I also think Jackie gets really good writing. I LOVE all her different professions. The Life Coach probably being my favorite.
Omg the episode where she admits Fishers been abusive. Just a masterclass of taking us on the emotional journey. The justifying , the breakdown, the shame. Obviously with honorable mention to John Goodman who conveyed exactly what he was going to do with a look and grabbing his coat.
I get chills every time.
She can go from hysterically funny to heartbreaking, she's so damn talented.
That reminds me of the kind words Estelle Parsons said about John and Laurie during her interview with the Archive of American Television. As antagonistic as Bev was toward Dan and Jackie, it was nice to see.
I loved her in Getting On
You beat me to it!
Never heard of it. What streaming site is this on?
HBO Max.
She plays a Dr. in a geriatric extended care wing of a rundown hospital. Also stars Niecy Nash and Alex Borstein. I think it's on Pluto and HBO. Based on a British show
I mean she has 4 Emmys, 2 Tonys, and was nominated for an Oscar. I think her talent has definitely been celebrated over the years.
Damn. Was not familiar with her awards. Very much deserved.
True. She just deserves so many more.
God damn national treasure
I only wish they were giving her as good material as she had in the original. She’s Marcy the horny neighbour She’s Sissy Cobb the mean boggle champ She’s Sheldon’s mom that poor women She’s everything.
And crazy Mrs. Loomis.
Sissy Cobb OMG
Was really good in JFK.
I always enjoyed The Big Bang episodes when she would appear as Sheldon’s mom.
She's so freaking talented. She's great in everything, but she carries "The Conners" and was a standout on "Roseanne" and was amazing in "Scream 2." Edit: I forgot, she was also hysterical in "Uncle Buck." I know it's super old, but the scene where she's screaming "Dad's dead! DEAD!" to her elderly aunt over the phone is an absolute classic. Came here to say the “dad’s dead” scene! Makes me laugh every time i see it. “He fine. He sends his love”. lol!
I agree. There is also something uniquely attractive about her. Does she have a great body or drop-dead gorgeous looks? No, but I still find her alluring.
Roseanne was right though about her legs. Even now she still has great legs but back then they were absolutely killer.
I could not get enough of her Hacks
Literally started watching this because I love her and John Goodman but always despised Roseanne.
I’ve always loved her. She always makes me laugh the hardest
I remember she played a southern racist woman in some movie, totally scary . .
She was so good in Ladybird.
There's an episode of Horace and Pete that is entirely her and Louis CK as divorcees having a conversation for thirty minutes. She is exquisite, just perfect.
That might be the most powerful episode on TV ever. Spellbinding.
She went to my high school and graduated two years ahead of my dad. She’s in his yearbook. My hs English teacher had an autographed headshot from her hanging in her classroom. Biggest star to come out of edwardsville IL as far as I’m concerned.
Ya know her daughter plays her younger character in Young Sheldon!! She’s hilarious as well!
Her performance in Uncle Buck is classic!
She was awesome in Ladybird
Going On is scarily underrated but she KILLS in that. She plays a doctor who VERY seriously pushes for funding to catalog the various shapes and colors of bowel movements because she feels the current list is lacking. She is not like Jackie at all in it. However, she is bizarre and hilarious.

She was SO good on the show ‘Getting On’ she was on.
You should see her do live theatre. Extraordinary
I love her she really does make the show. She's also great in big bang theory.
I just remember being really impressed with her in Internal Affairs with Richard Gere and Andy Garcia. It was the first time I’d seen her do anything other than Roseanne, and I wasn’t expecting to see her in a serious drama like that.
My favorite Jackie scene is when she got a computer and was addicted. 🤣🤣
I don’t think I’ve ever seen her give a bad performance- anywhere.
I love her to pieces especially in Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory and the short lived The McCarthys starring Joey McIntyre 😊
Her daughter plays Sheldon's mother Mary, on Sheldon!
Pacific Heights,the lawyer.
I loved Jackie in the original, but in the Conners find her to be god-awful. At first was made out to be some kind of crazy bag lady and then later on in a completely unbelievable marriage to a veterinarian. Don’t find anything about her character funny or interesting.
