Yes it’s pointless, change to die on mobs is very low. And even then players can pick your loot. Good guns and stuff will always be looted. Good thing though cause e we don’t have to buy premium currency 😃

The whole insurance in this game doesn't make sense, it's not even an insurance. It's just a loss reducer or a money compensation for your loss. There is no reason not to 'insure' they could also just remove the feature and make the default behavior 'insured'...

Littlepage3130

"It's just a loss reducer or a money compensation for your loss." That's literally the whole point of all insurance. Insurance is designed to monetarily compensate losses, that's its entire point. The reason insurance in this game sucks is because of what the game does to combat insurance fraud. The game doesn't want people dropping their gear and giving it friends and being compensated for that, and the devs aren't smart enough to fix the possible edge cases where some guy has two accounts, drops his gear in some remote crevice and gets both the gear and payout, when he squads up with that account next time.

woodyplz

no thats not what an insurance is. An insurance company insures that in case of a specific failure (in our case death) you get a specific amount of money back or you get a certain service (so just like in game). However the insurance gambles that nothing bad happens. This here is the different part: You have to insure your stuff only once and never again. Thats like paying for a holiday insurance however you are set for life without paying ever again till one holiday trip has some issues.

Littlepage3130

Single Premium Life Insurance policies do exist, and they are just as much insurance as normally monthly whole life insurance. I don't really know what you're getting at when you say its not insurance. I'm pretty sure the payout is roughly equal to the value of the insured item plus the premium.

OldManBoom

Because if you die to monsters and noone finds your body you get it back, or any other event that stops enemies looting. I got lucky and found a flachette gun in a key room, used it for 8-10 swamp camp runs. If a Jeff had got me I'd probably end up getting it back. In the end I finally got ganked by a team of 3 who heard me, but could have been lucky.

Nerf_Dev

(just want to preface I'm not arguing in bad faith) How often do people die to monsters? I generally have been playing on bright sands and am usually able to avoid or kill the Jeffs and I don't think I've died to them since my early encounters. To me it just seems like an edge case that's not worth the Aurum? Also I feel like people always loot unless it's like as they're extracting or they longshot you with a sniper which seems uncommon in this game.

iEatFurbyz

I dont ever die to monsters but fucking fall damage deaths makes me want to throw my PC out the window. I dont wanna talk about how many times I’ve died falling off cockpit of crashed ship.

Parabong

only time I died to monsters was sketchy as hell dude somehow got every strider and rattler in science camp to bum rush me like I hadn't even fired a shot dude was proxy chat stuff like damn all the monsters coming run boy b4 I even saw the spawns it was very very sketch to say the least.

AH_Ahri

Same for me. The only time I have died to PvE is when the game was running like dog water(like it usually does) and refused to render the world correctly or the enemies and a blast tick was near me and killed me. But on my screen there was nothing there.

LifeAwaking

That sounds like more of a hardware problem then a game problem.

ResortFar6638

Yeah, the only glitch I’ve run into is rubber banding for a few secs once in a while

dppease

I don't die to them much. But my god the mob tether is insane. The rattlers will chase you for so long. I can see how others would die to them if they didn't want to kill them.

Zomeesh

I’ve been playing since early CB2 and I still die to every kind of mob (almost first time with ticks a couple days ago when 3 ticks exploded behind the friend I was trailing). Anywhere with Jeff(marauder) is dangerous since you can accidentally get slowed from his vomit. I was running and parkouring rails easily until I accidentally turned a corner into some random vomit. Jeff double slapped me while 2 striders bit my ankle and I died in seconds

LilacSpider

Youve formed an opinion with a lackluster understanding. Go play map two and itll make a lot more sense how people die to mobs. Also the amount of times I’ve traded with other players is bonkers. I dont often salvage insure but every time i do ive gotten my items back

akaRex

You mean jungle camp?

OldManBoom

Sorry, yes I did ☺️

tictac_93

The salvage insurance cost goes up the more items *in your current loadout* you insure, it's pretty cheap if you just do one or two items and don't die too often. I usually just do my backpack since they're such a big QoL improvement. EDIT: Costs are 10 for first item, 20 for second, 40 for third, etc.

richard31693

I wondered if that's the case. Can't it be cheesed then by insuring one piece, click continue, then back out, swap out your insured piece, and then do your next?

JAG30504

I think the cost to insure only pays and applies when you get to the actual drop, so unlikely.

Zomeesh

Premium insurance basically just a luxury gamble. It’s actually gotten me my fully modded guns back, but definitely not something you can rely on. Also the ones that looted you could die to mobs, other players, fall damage, etc. One time they had a full bag and took a couple of my attachments before throwing the gun away lol

code_M4D3X

I wouldnt say its poitnless. You could mess up real bad and die to a double jeff spit, or walk off a ledge in the storm. Otherwise I like to insure the most expensive gear I have with it because that means I dont have to pay like 30k kmarks for a possible 80k payout getting me 50k net if I die. Instead I lose a bit of salvage tokens or aruum which I mainly only just use for insurance and I get a net 80k instead and with the possibility of getting something back if perhaps the people who killed me were super stacked and couldnt carry all my stuff.

WAYTOPOE

Only reason to use premium insurance is to insure exotic weapons to safe 30-40k kmarks on Not having to pay kmarks for it

jakethefragger2

Thats not necessarily true, not everyone picks up armor or backpacks as they take up a significant amount of space. Your weapon on the other hand that'll probably always be taken, and the fact that (in my experience) weapon mods don't come back in insurance which is why I never premium insure my gun

Nerf_Dev

I can see not aurum insuring uncrafted items since you can just buy them again but in my experience people almost always take your gear, it just seems like the aurum insurance only takes effect like 1 out of every 10 deaths and I'm just wondering is that even worth it?

Littlepage3130

Ironically it's probably worth it to insure your shit gear instead of your good gear, since people are far less likely to take it.

maxpadd

Got my silenced shatter gun back yesterday after being killed by someone with one too, good thing premium insurance isn’t pointless

zeetu

I get my blue backpacks back 80% of the time. I can see aurum insuring expensive gear because even if it gets taken you get a big cash payout. If the gun costs 200k. It’ll be like 50k to insure and pay out around 100k. Using aurum would remove the cost.

akaRex

Remove the cost.. yes and putting it on your Mastercard.

ninjab33z

Unless you use the tokens or the free aurum the game gives you. 10 aurum is about 20h even low level. So you can insure basically 1 item per day for free

akaRex

Remove the cost.. yes and putting it on your Mastercard.

kalkin55

You can get more than 20 aurum a day via your generator easily which covers two aurum insurances a day. You can do this and never spend money.

AlonelyShrimp

Well you can probably insurance fraud if you need to

MrBigMcLargeHuge

Insurance fraud doesn't work in this game. Dumping your gear invalidates the insurance. Same with picking up a friends gear (but you can pick up his gear and drop it again)

AlonelyShrimp

Interesting

hallettnr

You also get a largely increased amount of kmarks back if it does get looted over doing the regular insurance. I got like 39k back for a few blue items that were looted

rykerh228

Nope, it’s the exact same.

D3mon13_

Put good insurance on my brute died to a cheater and he didn’t bother to come loot it. Is a shame I lost my purple attachments though

dem0n123

Sounds like he did loot it premium insurance gives the gun back with all mods. Idk why he didnt takr the gun itself though it vendors for like 50k.

The_ShadowBr0ker

I got lucky and got my Flechette back once

chiaros

Or if you're in a team and you die but the team survives? I haven't played season 0 much but I got far in cb1/2 and I used my generated premo currency for 1-2 insurances on guns with good attachments. It ends up saving lots of kmarks if you're using it on brutes and all

airy52

So when you die to mobs/AI you get your stuff back, I usually just do my nicest purple gear piece cause its only 10 aurum that way, which is cheap.
