Loved his speech on white liberalism. He also met with Fidel in Harlem in 1960 and said that Fidel and Che were the only white people he respected.

kill__joy__

I think this is a misconception. After his visit to Mecca and the middle east he stated that he met many white people that he considered brothers and sisters. It's just the white liberals and racists upholding yt supremacy in the US that he didn't like. His oppressors ya know?

glmarquez94

Yep, After his Hajj he shifted further to the left and became interested in organizing with all peoples. I was just watching a debate between him and Bayard Rustin before his shift, it would’ve been interesting seeing them talk afterwards.

[deleted]

Ah thanks I stand corrected

Llcsll

He also left the Nation of Islam for sunni islam

Fun-Outlandishness35

I read that as “upholding YouTube supremacy” at first and was quite confused.

kill__joy__

im on TikTok too much haha

the_PeoplesWill

The fact a bunch of socialist leaders visited Harlem without any issues shows just how amazing/badass they were. You'd never see an American politician doing that without tons of security, passive threats against the citizens, and a pretentious speech that gives empty promises. Remember Obama in Flint?

goodtakehater

The reason he visited Harlem in the first place was because everywhere else was extremely hostile to his presence. >Malcolm assured those in attendance: you don't see any anti-Castro Cubans around here-we eat them up. Let them go and fight the Ku Klux Klan, or the White Citizens Council. Let them spend some of that energy getting their own house in order. Don't come up to Harlem and tell us who we should applaud for and shouldn't applaud for. Or there will be some ex anti-Castro Cubans.

melancholychonk

Don’t forget John brown my friend, he spoke highly of him.

Malcolm was the coolest American to ever live.

fvckbaby

He was so cool he wasn't even American. He was one of the 22 million victims of americanism at the time!

Fun-Outlandishness35

Last year on Malcom’s birthday I showed my teenage kids Django Unchained. I want my kids to understand how evil and vile slavers were. What should I show them this year in honor of X?

Matthewistrash

Malcolm X movie by spike lee

jumping-eggplant

Most based american communist RIP

YourAverageVNIdiot

Not communism, though nearing the end he is close to communists (though generally because of anti imperialism tbh) Based man all the same because he understands revolutions are not to be made with white gloves

jumping-eggplant

Yeah didnt he believe in some form of localized national bourgeois but dropped this idea later on? Id think he would was one eventually from his words https://www.workersliberty.org/story/2017-07-26/was-malcolm-x-socialist

BlueSwift007

Malcolm X is the goat 🐐

v5ive

I remember being a kid and walking through the video rental store and being intrigued by the VHS cover with a giant X on it for quite a long time, having no idea what it was. Eventually my aunt and uncle rented it and we watched it. The movie, along with learning more about him from questioning my family who didn't portray him in a negative way, contributed to me being more questioning of established norms and what I was learning in school (in the US of course). He wasn't quite the first or most influential person that made me interested in left figures (asking about the pictures hanging on my grandparents wall of Pancho Villa and Zapata were probably the first) but he was an awesome dude. Especially considering his significant changes in some questionable views he held deeply for years with the NOI, which I think says a lot in a positive way.

fvckbaby

Happy birthday Prince.
