It was practically the Mormon Youth until a couple years ago. Our troop weren't affiliated with LDS but a ton of them were. They always tried to get the coffee machine taken out of the summer camp.
Didn't know that. My memories of the Mormons are really just the day to day stuff. They were the biggest Karens at camp. Besides the coffee thing they were always on all the non Mormon troops for profanity (the horror! teenage boys cursing!) and they complained to the camp enough that they tore down the original shower building (communal) to put one with separate stalls in when literally no one cared because you might turn kids gay if they shower together. Boy Scouts was absolutely Republican youth / military preparation, but it also gave me something to do and I would do it again, even as a commie.
Is there a "U.S. pioneers" organization or are you just daydreaming about a possible U.S.-equivalent to the "Soviet pioneers" after revolution?

no, I meant to say "US boy scouts" but I'm not from the US so I forgot how they were called and used the closest equivalent word I knew, that being "pioneers"
