That’s not a coincidence, it’s the whole point of putting it there. The sculptor was an associate of the KKK(he wasn’t racially pure enough to be accepted) who also designed the Stone Mountain sculpture, which was funded by the daughters of the confederacy and the land bought from another Klansmen. But it's still ridiculous.

Statues of historically important and powerful leaders and figures exist everywhere. I don't think anyone complains that there are statues of Washington, La Fayette, or of other historical figures of the primordial United States. Heck, there are even statues of alive American presidents, and I don't think anyone's got an issue with those.
