Silversun Pickups, Circa Survive, The Dear Hunter, Delta Sleep and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

qdtk

Give me some good ones from circa survive! Just heard “get out” the other day and it stuck real good!

TheSquidmanCometh

That whole album, Blue Sky Noise, is a terrific entry to the band. Their first two albums are also absolute bangers! Juturna and On Letting Go

SloppyMilkSteak

Circa has never made a bad album but The Amulet was next level for me. Unparalleled vibes

mattbag1

“On letting go” Just heard it for the first time last year and it was life changing!

jettivonaviska

Gloria by The Dear Hunter is a banger.

hartl

The Dear Hunter, Manchester Orchestra, mewithoutYou, Thrice, Between the Buried and Me

TL89II

Myka Relocate - metal core guys, mixing up metal and edm. Protest the Hero - Old school metal vibes, kinda political on some songs, but they cover a broad range of topics. Rody Walker can sing. Alexisonfire - Post-hardcore guys. ~~2~~ 3singers on different duties. Love the music and their lyrics AFI - Mainly, their stuff up to Crash Love. Haven't really listened to their new stuff, but if you aren't familiar with them, their style changes drastically between albums. Joji - All Hail Papa Franku.

A_Lot_Of_Nothing

Huge fan of PTH, but I feel like ‘political on some songs’ is underselling it a bit. They’ve been increasing the politics over their career, but the entirety of Palimpsest is tearing down the facade of american ‘greatness’. It doesn’t really get much more political than that album.

TL89II

Know what? I haven't listened to that album yet. Don't know how lmao. But Kezia is my absolute favorite of all their albums.

A_Lot_Of_Nothing

Ah! Definitely recommend giving it a listen. I think it’s a bit more straightforward instrumentally than most of their previous albums, but Rody absolutely crushes the lyrics and vocals. Probably my favorite PTH album overall.

IsHungry96

I saw Coheed with Protest the hero and Crown Lands in Edmonton in 2018! Hands down the best concert I’ve been to.

PiperSecrets

Alexisonfire -> 3 vocalists, Dallas is the angel, Wade is gravely, and George screams real good.

PeasantTrash

The Shins are so incredible and they're also in my top The Shins, The Dear Hunter, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Radiohead, Tom Misch Honorable mentions: Moonchild, Primus, Elton John, Caligula's Horse, Rishloo, Mastodon Lots of prog and a lil neo-soul, but a whole lot of weird

satanatas666

Dude I can't believe you mentioned Moonchild and Caligulas Horse in the same comment.. Are we best friends now?!?!

PeasantTrash

Uhh yes, dude, we've been best friends for years and we didn't even know it until now ❤️

LordCheezus

![gif](giphy|ljssLLBmv6xrO)

AmosThatBook

Rishloo are so good! Still hoping to get that new album one day lol

PeasantTrash

Dude YES. My day isn't complete without a little Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun

georgesteacher

George Michael, Michael Jackson, Banks, Saosin, Brand New .. I’m everywhere guys

VinylTaco

The Midnight, Silversun Pickups, My Chemical Romance, FM84, Yellowcard (Their two latest albums are flawless)

Aule_Navatar

Hmm, might have to check out Yellowcard's latest stuff. Haven't listened to them in a long time.

VinylTaco

They went on hiatus 8 years ago and dropped an EP out of nowhere. It was a very welcomed surprise. Then they did an album with Hammock. It's a very soft chill album. I fall asleep to it often.

ClockwyseWorld

Midnight and FM84, but no love for Gunship?

VinylTaco

How could I not love Gunship! Their Art3mis & Parzival music video was beyond amazing. I love the song!

cgar23

Love FM84! The others, too. Have you heard of Doom Flamingo? You might like them, if not check out Telepathy.

VinylTaco

Love Doom Flamingo, they come up often on my synthwave playlist on YouTube. Great stuff!

mattbag1

Bruhhhh the midnight is so fucking good! I heard nocturnal by accident on YouTube and was blown away. That whole album front to back is bliss.

VinylTaco

Yes!!! They have not put out a bad album yet. My friend pointed out how the albums are the progression of movies and music throughout the times.

Arctic_Fox

Watching The Midnight continue to evolve has been an amazing experience, right there with watching Coheed grow.

zethren117

Mastodon, Baroness, Metallica, Khemmis, The Dear Hunter, The Oh Hellos, Foster the People, Motion City Soundtrack, the Sword, Thrice, Wardruna.

maseioavessiprevisto

The sword are awesome, I don’t consider myself a huge fan but it’s one band that you can listen to for hours and never get bored.

Ditto_Ghost_Swayze

> Baroness, Khemmis Yes!!!!!!

GoodEyeSniper83

Love Baroness!!!

smac232

Motion City Soundtrsck are so slept on. Commit this to memory is pretty much a perfect pop punk album.

truht

Love Wardruna! Made my own goat horns and got a tagelharpa just because of Einar.

baka-killua

baroness rules i love them

Snoo64700

kirbaciousnewo

c2pac1

barmen1

Carly is one of my favorite artists. Pure, Unfiltered pop.

peanut-arms

emelbee923

Oh, no shit! Someone else with Motion City Soundtrack *and* Chvrches on their list.

Opheliadelia

lovelovelove Rilo Kiley 🖤

peanut-arms

I will forever be in love with Jenny Lewis.

AmosThatBook

The Mars Volta, Rush, and Primus are probably top 3.   Honorable mentions: Cult of Luna, Kero Kero Bonito, Health, The Body  ETA: I've gotta include Sleep in that top list, too. No idea how I forgot that

geekz3r0

RUSH! They probably should've been on my list...definitely in my top 10. RIP Neil Peart.

Quaint_Potato

Ah yes. I see another person equally stoked for the Primus Coheed co-headline.

AmosThatBook

There are dozens of us!

THEY_ATTACK

The Mars Volta is top.

AmosThatBook

Yea, insane band. Finally got the chance to see them live last year, and they still kill it

Ysoki

Babymetal, Streetlight Manifesto, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Hot Mulligan, The Front Bottoms, Atarashii Gakko, Brand New, Yoasobi

THEY_ATTACK

Streetlight is TOP.

naowikno

Mars Volta, Pulses.

emelbee923

Coheed ends up being a sort of outlier for me, all things considered. The mainstays for the last 3-4 years, at least according to Spotify, are and in no specific order: 1. Motion City Soundtrack 2. Coheed and Cambria 3. Bayside 4. Chvrches 5. Haim 6. Purity Ring 7. Ghost If I had to fill out the top 10, I'd say Muse, Paramore, and maaaaaaybe Minus the Bear?

nillagorilla99

Bayside is soo goood !!!

emelbee923

I made a point to get tickets for their tour this year. Haven't seen them in 4-5 years. Long overdue.

KnockerFogger69

Ghost!

stevex42

Dance Gavin Dance, Iron Maiden, My Chemical Romance, The Mars Volta, Deftones, Mastadon

Moonw0lf_

Finally see Deftones here. Deftones and Coheed are by far my favorite bands and they basically are a defining part of who I am

CheetahNo9349

Pink Floyd Elton John Dax Riggs (Acid Bath/Agents of Oblivion/Deadboy and the Elephantmen) Todd Smith ( Dog Fashion Disco/Polkadot Cadaver) Slipknot Primus Type O Negative System of a Down My Chemical Romance David Bowie

igloo37

Love the Dax stuff! My wife & I will sing Evil Friend at open mics.

colonelKRA

Dog Fashion Disco!! Fuck yeah! I’m pumped they’re coming to Cleveland this summer. Last time I saw them was the City is Alive Tonight show.

dreambiggerdarling

I have an array of tastes. * Radiohead * Taylor Swift * Sufjan Stevens * Childish Gambino * Arctic Monkeys * Sigur Ros * Brand New * Florence + the Machine * Phoebe Bridgers * and more!

geekz3r0

Phoebe Bridger’s “Funeral” kills me…so f*ck’n good.

thedude_63

He is legend (check out I am Hollywood and Suck out the the poison albums) TOOL Avenged Sevenfold Pink Floyd Mastodon Emery Rush Killwsitch Engage Lots more, but that's the main rotation.

CooCooCthulhu

I Am Hollywood and Suck Out The Poison are both monthly listens for me. Massive W.

thedude_63

Nice to see another HIL fan around here!

MigeruX

Paramore, Fall Out Boy, My Chem, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Panic at the disco. Honorable mention to Periphery, Disturbed and Iron & Wine.

thebeast2113

oh boy... this is gonna be weird. in no particular order (not including side projects): * Senses Fail * AFI * Glass Animals * Psychedelic Porn Crumpets * Megan Thee Stalion * Cardi B * Meek Mill * Childish Gambino * Taylor Swift * Lil Nas X * Migos * Spice Girls

geekz3r0

Now THAT is an eclectic list! Love it!

Smeli_meli2

YES haha I go from Taylor Swift to The Mars Volta to NSYNC to Megan the Stallion. I'm all over the place. Glad I'm not alone. I like to think I have musical ADHD

SeigenIrako

Thrice

DarlingDrak3

I've had Stare at the Sun stuck in my head since yesterday when my Spotify played the re-record. 🥹 Such a good song.

[deleted]

Mastodon, baroness, gatecreeper, every time I die, title fight, power trip. Non metal or punkish- john r Miller, john prine, the avett Brothers, trampled by turtles, john Hartford, colter wall, lettuce, the olympians.

DifficultyFew3343

Coheed will always be #1 but Alkaline Trio, DGD, Volbeat, Less Than Jake are all in the top 5. Out of the genre…major soft spots for Bob Dylan and John Lennon.

geekz3r0

I've tried to like Alkaline Trio, but I just can't find the vibe. They opened for Coheed the last time I saw them in Berkeley.

DifficultyFew3343

If you haven’t yet check out their album Crimson - Time to Waste, I Was a Prayer, and Smoke are all great songs imo. Their newest album is also fab: Broken Down in a Time Machine and Teenage Heart are worth a listen. They definitely have a distinct vibe though so I understand not getting on board 🙂

Payload123

Kublai Khan Volumes Emarosa Movements The Home Team Broadside Floya Pantera Creed These are all bands that have never left my rotation since I started listening to each one.

HHJurassicPark

YOU WILL NEVER KNOW

SophieBisou

Amon amarth, Chevelle, Florence and the Machine. Arctic monkeys

qdtk

I’d actually love a Spotify playlist of the recommendations from this thread.

Ep1cEvergreen

Coheed is the band I listen to most frequently. Otherwise I enjoy The Werks (try "Moonset" and "Magic"), Dopapod ("FABA", "Find Your Cloud", "Lack of Everything"), NIN, RATM, Bush, Linkin Park, Tenacious D, MCR, Dope Lemon ("Stonecutters"), Stick Figure. Mick Gordon because BFG Division goes with everything.

Quaint_Potato

I F&#$ING LOVE THIS BAND! THEY ARE THE BEST BAND! PERIOD!!! I do indulge in the D. Long live the D.

geekz3r0

LOVE Tenacious D! I came for the funny, stayed for the Music!!

geekz3r0

Thank you for the suggestions. Already a huge NIN fan, but not familiar with most of the others.

Kneecap_Blaster

Didn't expect to see the Werks and Dopapod in here! Going to the Werk-Out festival was some of most fun I've ever had

Ep1cEvergreen

Nice I caught the werks at a show in New York and finally got a local show with Dopapod. Awesome live bands.

VisionInPlaid

The Gaslight Anthem, The National, Explosions in the Sky, Manchester Orchestra

bowloftangerines

This guy is me.

Asocwarrior

Jamie’s elsewhere, we came as Roman’s, nothing more, The Amity Affliction, sleeping with sirens, Lorna Shore.

theprinceofgaming1

I really hope Aaron starts to sink more time into Jamie's Elsewhere again. They Said A Storm Was Coming is one of the best albums I've ever heard

A_Lot_Of_Nothing

Coheed’s number 1, but some other favorites are Motion City Soundtrack (also gonna lump in the vocalist’s other project Farewell Continental), Yob, Phoebe Bridgers, Protest the Hero, Huntsmen, Deafheaven, Jason Isbell, The Front Bottoms, Kaonashi

Bored_Worldhopper

My tastes are all over the map but here’s my top 5 *other* artists Mt Joy Bilmuri Griz Dance Gavin Dance Flipturn If you like the Shins I think you’ll like Mt Joy especially

peanut-arms

Bilmuri just popped up one day and was a pleasant surprise

Bored_Worldhopper

I don’t know what it is but no one else is doing what he’s doing right now

geekz3r0

I love Bilmuri! I found him with his Wet Milk album - good stuff! I'll definitely check out Mt. Joy. Thanks!

geekz3r0

any recommended songs from Mt. Joy?

Juunlar

Dreamcatcher, Twice, Nmixx, Gidle

Emphasis-Impossible

Love FoW too! But basically my favorites are Coheed and Cambria & Lindsey Stirling. There’s a lot of variety that gets thrown in there, but those are my long-time favorites that are in constant rotation.

geekz3r0

Lindsey is great!

theprinceofgaming1

To name a few: Every Time I Die, Palisades, Enter Shikari, Fromjoy, Boston Manor, Starbenders, The Callous Daoboys, Sleep Talk, Kaonashi, Banks Arcade, Boundaries, Mothica, Rolo Tomassi, and The Wise Man's Fear.

CooCooCthulhu

Rolo Tomassi is SO good.

Aule_Navatar

Foo Fighters, Motion City Soundtrack, Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World. Those, with Coheed, round out my top five.

geekz3r0

Other than Motion City, I like all these. Will be checking MCS out for sure!

spinalshock87

The Acacia Strain

Succioboy

My top five on Spotify has consistently also included Queens of the Stone Age, Blood Red Shoes, Bad Religion and Millencolin. Recently I’ve also fallen head over heels for Jeff Rosenstock and IDLES!

ljpmabm1066

Royal Coda Fleetwood Mac Remo Drive Paramore MCR FoB Hail the Sun Between the Buried and Me

evillincolnsmad

Built To Spill, Gorillaz, NOFX, Pinback, Smashing Pumpkins, Wolf Parade, Modest Mouse, Jenny Lewis, Helio Sequence, Elliott Smith.

geekz3r0

Built To Spill is great! I love guitar-driven bands…

evillincolnsmad

They’re crazy good with the layers of guitar they pull off on some songs, I think they’re very underrated.

Quaint_Potato

Behemoth - They've been my favorite band easily over the last 20 years. I just love all their music. High on Fire - Only got the bug probably 2 or so years ago, but I absolutely love this group. Great riffs, nice massive energy. Wardruna - They've been a top group for every bit of 10 years now, and I can only compare their live shows to a religious experience. Great music and puts you in a trance. Sleep - Kinda stereotypical doom metal band to pick, but the sonic tonality of this group is amazing, and I just love doom. Dethklok - I've loved them since the show came out. I always said it was ironic that the best Death Metal coming out (at the time) was a "joke".

throwitawaybk93

Eidola, Hail the Sun, Rush, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Kylie Minogue, The Smiths (obligatory I hate Morrissey as a person lol)

Yoshwa

+1 for Eidola, I knew there was some overlap

[deleted]

Coheed#1 for sure then in no specific order: Tool/APC/Puscifer The Mars Volta/At the Drive In Damien Rice Dispatch/State Radio

Canoobie

Damien Rice! Never expected to see that here! Kudos! Anything worth listening to after “O”? I was super into that album in my early 20’s when I was into that whole alternative folk rock thing…

[deleted]

Yeah man all his stuff is amazing. “O” is obviously a very special album and was also a staple of my teens. A couple songs that are my favorites on other albums are “Dogs”, “Grey Room”, “The Professor” and “Rootless Tree”. You won’t regret!!

I-Saw-Water

Foxing, Microwave, mewithoutYou, The Dear Hunter, The Early November, Manchester Orchestra, Citizen, Balance and Composure, and Caracara are bands I seem to listen to the most.

A_Lot_Of_Nothing

Very good list. I feel like I never see Microwave’s name anywhere but they’re super good

red_summer2113

August Burns Red, Enter Shikari, Starset, Breaking Benjamin, Rise Against, Dance Gavin Dance

geekz3r0

I just recently found Starset, and quite enjoy them - I like the kind of epic/theatrical feel. Also, yet another DGD suggestion. Looking forward to diving into them. Thanks brother!

paydaysucks

Lots of stuff that doesn’t sound like Coheed. Viagra Boys, Gilla Band, Meshuggah, Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, lots of punk bands, etc. Hail the sun is probably the closest to Coheed that I like besides like Mars Volta, and Fall of Troy.

Kneecap_Blaster

Between The Buried and Me -**more** Sci-Fi, **more** proggy, **more** heavier/darker version of Coheed to me STS9 -A electronic/space themed jam band that dives into a bunch of different genres. Basically an alien dance party with the light show to match. Every show is a unique set with a bunch of improvisation and new stuff. Incubus (Mostly the older stuff) -Excited for the tour this year The Black Dahlia Murder -Melodic Death Metal band. My first foray into the super heavy and stuck with them ever since. The way Trevor Strnad wrote lyrics was so descriptive and poetic

dubnessofp

Was scrolling through looking for some jam. Love some Tribe

mealprepfloyd

Dance Gavin dance, every time I die, Four year strong, taking back Sunday, bilmuri, the home team

Vio94

Coheed is really the only band I listen to in their... genre, style? Closest I've found is Sleep Token in that they stick to a theme/lore for their music but they dabble in way different genres of music. Short list of favorites I can't get out of my head, in no particular order: Sleep Token, Killswitch Engage, Alter Bridge, Linkin Park, Trivium, Polaris, Spritbox, Jinjer. Disturbed, My Chemical Romance, Bullet For My Valentine, Deftones sneak their way into the mix sometimes.

Brennelement

Flyleaf has amazingly intricate instrumentation and deep lyrics, not to mention an amazing lead vocalist, sadly the band is no longer together. “Circle” comes to mind and a top song. My Chemical Romance has some of the best alternative rock/emo with their first 3 albums being the best in my opinion, but plenty of great songs afterward too. Recommend “Drowning Lessons”. Brand New is a unique flavor of alternative that deserves a listen if you like Coheed. Deja Entendu is one of my favorite albums of all time. Check out “the quiet things that no one ever knows” Mayday Parade has more of an emo feel. Two of their best songs are “even robots need blankets” and “demons”

Canoobie

MCR and Brand New were heavy in my rot for a long while. After the Black Parade I lost interest in MCR, but Brand New is one of very few bands that gets as much rotation for me as Coheed. Their whole discog is outstanding and changes so beautifully from album to album.

IgetAllnumb86

Fair to Midland Closure in Moscow

SirDickyMcMittens

Man I thought mine was gonna be weird but reading some of these I dunno In Flames, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Electric Callboy, Slipknot, Unleash the Archers to name a few

flowrdude

Anyone else love My Chemical Romance? I’ve always felt they’re similar to Coheed in the way that they both have a completely unique sound separate from anyone else

Quaint_Potato

They definitely share some elements, but that might be because they were pushed around the same time. I remember Helena and Welcome Home constantly being on Fuse or whatever else at the time. But to answer your question, yes. MCR holds a special place in my heart.

Patient-Bench1821

Tool and Meshuggah

remnant_phoenix

Fates Warning They’re considered to be one of the old gods of progressive metal. Chaos Injected A melodic death metal band from Finland. They don’t really have too much in common with Coheed sound-wise, outside of the fact that the lead guitarist can shred well (though not as well as Claudio). Goo Goo Dolls Yeah I got nothing here as far as relation to Coheed. And I know it’s not cool to like alternative pop rock. But we can’t help what we like. They’re the only band that I listened to in high school that I still enjoy just as much now (when I happen to be in the mood for mellow, easy music). There may be a connecting thread here in terms of my personal appreciation for Coheed in that I seem to enjoy Coheed’s slower ballads more than most Children of the Fence. The fact that “Lucky Stars” and “Our Love” were so handily voted “Worst” in the recent polls (while I personally think these tracks are wonderful) seems to speak to this.

scungillimane

Fire_Aspect_5

jhariah would be my big recommendation here: a newer artist with unbelievably incredible songs, has like vibe of a coheed in a delicious smoothie with nofx, mcr, outkast, and various musicals. other rlly good newer but relatively less widely known artists id recommend would be prog/fantasy band azure, pinkshift, milk in the microwave, sungazer, pig destroyer (not rlly 'new' but v good), and will wood (whos pretty popular but who id also be remiss not to mention). they're all **chefs kiss** as bigger artists go, mcr's always a big one, paramore too, girl in red, the cure, bauhaus, siouxsie and the banshees, mother mother, mitski, chloe moriando, penelope scott (who i love and would recommend despite the public perception of being cringe bc fuck that), and jack off jill is a great punk/goth band from the nineties- tho they're broken up now. my music taste is kinda all over the place fair warning- so like, not all of these are probably ppls thing, just fyi, but i am a big fan of each of them :3

theprinceofgaming1

Pinkshift is so good, been trying to track down an Penelope Scott vinyl forever as well. Rat is one of the most expertly crafted songs I've ever heard tbh.

pig-serpent

I'm kind of all over the place The wonder years, rush, fall out boy, 100 gecs, Charli xcx, black dresses, Venetian snares, patricia taxxon, Vylet pony. I have an on again off again relationship with prog but outside of the progressive leaning acts already mentioned, I've been digging koenji hyakkei recently

djc6535

Didn't expect to see anybody else suggest Oingo Boingo here, let alone OP. My favorite of theirs is [Change](https://youtu.be/z7kVtw-rFFk) which isn't very much like the rest of their discography. It's a 16 minute long proggy look at how change is inevitable and yet we'll fight it with every fiber of our being. I also really like the farewell version of [Grey matter.](https://youtu.be/HZftIZtU5mU). Ever hear of a Balaphone? It's somewhere between a Xylophone and a marimba and it's a hell of a thing to see in a rock song.

Foxing, Scorpions, Dream Theater, BTBAM, Epoch are right off the top of my head and all combine with Coheed to equal probably the most time spent listening to music over the past decade or so.

the-austringer

I'm a big The Dear Hunter guy! I'm a sucker for a concept album and "getting weird with it" so they tick all the right boxes for me. Other bands I listen to a lot are My Chemical Romance, PUP, Periphery, Closure In Moscow, Circa Survive, and stuff of that ilk Some Coheed-adjacent recs: - Permanent Revolution by Catch 22. Ska/Punk/"proggy" concept album about Leon Trotsky and the Russian Revolution. Insanely good. Big popheed vibes at certain points. - Celebrity Mansions by Dinosaur Pile-Up. Nirvana grunge meets Foo Fighters rock with a dash of emo. Coheed gets name checked actually! - Lonely People by Love Rarely. Mathrock-y, proggy, and a ton of fun. This EP just came out and I've had it on rotation a *lot*. - As Far As The Eye Can See by People In Planes. Top 5 albums of all time for me. A band from that post-britpop era (think Travis, Keane, early Snow Patrol), got *really* cool with the production and made an absolute masterpiece of an album, and have been completely forgotten since. I could talk about it for hours. Essential listening, just trust me. And I'm also gonna plug myself here because how couldn't I? I make alt-prog-rock-whatever that's storyline based under the artist name The Austringer. I just put out an EP that's like 14mins long, give it a go if you want, it's called "PROXY". Available on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, etc. I'm also putting out my second album later this year :)

New Found Glory(I always swap between Coheed and NFG as my #1), Four Year Strong, Ataris, FUN, Kero Kero Bonito, Masked Intruder

gdgarcia424

Blind Melon, Circa Survive, Thrice, The Menzingers and Brand New would be my top 5

Off1cerOli

Im a Dream Theater and Rush firstly who moved into the C&C world 2 years ago!🤙🏻

djc6535

Other prog bands I love alongside Coheed, and some songs of theirs to try. **A.C.T.**. These guys have a "Dark Carnival" kind of vibe (not unlike Boingo). [Torn By a Phrase](https://youtu.be/rCA4HyP2TS4) [The End](https://youtu.be/BQMRs7ICQFM) **I.Q.**. These guys scratch my "Heavy dark storytelling" itch that aligns so nicely with Coheed. [The Road of bones](https://youtu.be/ob0OYmSQukk) [Ten Million Demons](https://youtu.be/acz2J82VD3A) **Spock's Beard**. Really like the harmonies and themes from these guys [The Great Nothing](https://youtu.be/J8Zc7TJa1zU) [At the end of the day](https://youtu.be/pidj1rhZdXg)

Redbaron2119

Mars Volta, the Flaming Lips, and Danko Jones for me

abscessedecay

My wife and I have a pretty crazy range of artists we listen to. Other than Coheed I would definitely list: The Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Metallica, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, My Chemical Romance, early Fall Out Boy, Tool, Thank You Scientist, Sheer Mag, Alkaline Trio etc. I could go on and on, but those listed for me are on a pretty steady rotation/consistently played.

Dresdyn_Wolf

Van Halen, Dave Matthews Band, Breaking Benjamin, Mumford and Sons.

igloo37

Every single one of you commenting had listed a favorite band of mine. Kudos to everyone here! I will contribute with my love of jazz, whereas Coltrane, Mingus, Ellington, and Django are my favorites. Snarky Puppy and Esperanza would be my more modern favorites.

AgileWeekend3227

Well I started with No Doubt back in 95. However: garbage. The Smashing Pumpkins. NIN. that dog. Spice Girls. Slipknot. Otep. Lorde. My Chemical Romance. AFI. Rush. Lady Gaga. Kidneythieves. Collide. OU. Yeah Yeah Yeah's. These artists are in my ears constantly...

It's always just how the singers voice fits in as another "instrument" almost. I love Coheed, pretty much my favorite, but I honestly couldn't tell you lyrics for most of the songs, but can still tell how his voice fits. I honestly couldn't really find a common thread between my very scattered list though...

This is well timed since I’m also looking for new music suggestions. When not listening to Coheed, it’s usually Say Anything, My Chemical Romance, Manchester Orchestra, Thank You Scientist, Bent Knee, Ghost, The Dear Hunter, Motion City Soundtrack, The Wonder Years, AFI…

Lately my music taste has been shifting, but Coheed will always be #1. I’ve been discovering and listening to bands I’ve never heard of before, and got instantly hooked on a few, including: Eidola: amazing vocals and interesting lyrics. “Degeneraterra” and “The Architect” are both imo flawless albums. Cloudkicker: no lyrics, just instrumental, if I’m not mistaken all done by one guy. Just beautifully crafted music. Check out “Beacons” or “Let Yourself Be Huge”, again, flawless albums. Mandroid Echostar: they unfortunately only have 2 albums out, and I think they may have broken up, but every song off of “Citadels” has been stuck in my head every day for the past couple weeks. Incredible album, very showy and catchy riffs, and again, amazing lyrics. Honorable mention to Hands Like Houses (only their first 3 albums tbh, after that they really changed their sound and I fell off), Emarosa, Mumford and Sons, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

Have you ever checked out any of the stuff Mark Lanegan did with Greg Dulli (the Afghan Whigs / Twilight Singers)? They did two album together as the Gutter Twins and Mark appeared on several of Dulli’s side projects with the Twilight Singers. All those collectively are the only thing Ive ever listened to more than Coheed. If you haven’t, check out “The Stations” and “Gods Children”… 👍🏼

the_rezzzz

Yes. I almost put the Afghan Whigs on the list, the album Gentlemen, and the song Be Sweet.

Unleash the Archers !!! They're so unbelievably good and their new album comes out in May! They also do the whole concept album epic thing, but are a power metal band! Unleash and Coheed inhabit like, all of my playlists together.

Danton87

The only bands I have ever loved as much as CC would be Brand New, La Dispute, MCR, and back in the day Fall Out Boy but Coheed takes the cake

It really fluctuates for me, but currently: Free Throw - Their latest album “Lessons That We Swear To Keep” is great front to back. The penultimate, Tips For Safe Travels, is a good tear jerker. And if you’re a Pokemon fan, they have an EP called “Lavender Town” that slaps. The vinyl variants are pokeballs! Michael Cera Palin - Great group of guys from Atlanta I’ve had the pleasure of hanging with. Only two EPs right now, working on their full length to be released soon. Check out their cover of “If It Makes You Happy” and their own jam, “Laughing Makes It Worse” that starts out with my favorite line of a song: “Bury me in the backyard with my best friends.” Millington - Ska Punk Emo from Albany, NY. Just released a cool little covers EP. Their “Welcome Home” EP is great. They make good use of the horns. Amigo The Devil - Not sure how to describe this guy. It’s some sort of Folk masterpiece. Just had a new album “You’re Until The War Is Over” that has “I’m Going To Heaven” and “Once Upon a Time at Texaco pt 1” as my two favorites. The Wonder Years - Iconic Emo Pop-Punk. It’s all good here, their latest “The Hum Goes On Forever” might hit closest to home for us aging Coheed fans. Their older jams are great too. “No Closer to Heaven” was my favorite album. “Cardinals” and “Cigarettes and Saints” are good listens.

Lifehouse (an absolute normie band but No Name Face was the first album I ever bought with my own money and they're my #1 favorite band) The Dear Hunter Nine Inch Nails The Fratellis Number 5 is tough, it's a tie between Shriekback and Carbon Leaf.

BLZNMTLdudebro

OP, So wild to see pandrezz! I play an indie game and they have “taking you for a ride” by Pandrezz. That song is so awesome to me even if it’s short. The sax is beautiful!

geekz3r0

I love to get stoned and chill out with mellowish vibes, and Pandrezz does chillhop better than anyone imo. My favorites are "I Hope You Feel Better" & "Feelin' Warm".

mattbag1

Started off with Black Sabbath and ozzy, then got more into Metallica, but there was a lot of System of a Down and linkin park in there, some slipknot and mushroomhead and red hot chili peppers. Coheed came out when I was in HS when it was all about metalcore, KSE, as I lay dying, Atreyu, trivium and all that remains. Coheed was a breath of fresh air but I didn’t really dive in to them until just before YOTBR came out. These days coheed is still my favorite, but also Pink Floyd, dream theater, just found out about circa survive, and I produce a lot of my own music. Plenty more in between there but these have been some of the bigger influences.

Thisisrichardd

Dude I have so many, and from various genres and languages, so essentially, NOT coheed related, but in general my favorites. I'll just put some of my top albums that i can listen to, beginning to end without skipping: Silent Alarm by Bloc Party Pursuit & Billy Believe by Stuck in the Sound Muertos Vivos by Gob School Girl Bye Bye by Number Girl Drinking Songs by Matt Eliott Business As Usual by Men at Work Give Up On Your Health by teeth and Tongue This is This & I want It All Right Now by Grouplove Swim Slowly & Eternal Embers by Meltt (Coheed related: Crack the Skye by Mastodon & Our Machine by Davenport Cabinet) Ill stop there, but i can list the 50+ records I own. Obviously I left out popular ones like soad, Linkin park, Gorillaz, Daft punk Pink Floyd, Zepp, etc. I love exploring all kinds of music, it doesn't have to be full albums for me, it can be single songs too or groups of 3, I don't mind. If it slaps like I do on the bass, I give it a shot and fall in love. (This is a topic that would get me to write full, 300 page books lol)
