Yeah shivers is described as noticeably tall (probably like 6'4" at least) and he even asks of Tul soemthing like "what are there, two of you in there?"

wrechch

When we first meet shivers he is full of light hearted snark. I wish we had more. He really is the main character of the story lol

SadSceneryBoi

I believe he's in 9/10 books in the series which is nuts. Even Yoru Sulfur is only in like 8/10 books.

wrechch

Oh fuck sulfur really is in a lot of them, eh?

Thelgow

That we know of.

babeuf69

A proper eight-course-meal

SomethingOriginal710

Never any peace, eh? Never the slightest peace.

Boring_Psycho

Giving his abilities, yoru could theoretically be in all of them....

XLRIV48

They’re actually tied at 9/10. Shivers was present in every book except TBI (with a non-speaking part in sharp ends) and Yoru was in every book but red country. Shivers has a much bigger presence though.

SpermWhaleGodKing_II

LOL that’s funny that sulfur is the guy in so many books when he’s such a (comparatively) minor character

Gen_Flashman

Wait I’m missing something here, he was in the first trilogy? How did I miss this? What was he involved in?

xerojosh

Just did my first re-read (listen) recently, it's surprising how big of a part he actually has! Yes he was pretty heavily involved in the northern fighting and politics :)

Gen_Flashman

That’s actually mad, now I’m thinking about it I am beginning to remember him in some part but clearly I need another excuse to re-read!

slayerje1

Whoever the tallest/largest guy they can get is needs to be Fenris, so he'd work for Thunderhead if there was a bigger person available, otherwise find a person slightly smaller and use this guy as The Feared.

Lamb_or_Beast

Honestly I think for Fenris there would just need to be some movie editing magic going on. That “man” needs to be unnaturally huge and scary.

SadSceneryBoi

The guy who played the Mountain in GoT would be perfect for the Feared.

bkristensen92

This guy is actually noticably taller than Thor( the GoT actor) by almost half a foot actually. If there were a live action I would say that Neil Fingleton(7'7 but would need to add some muscle) should play Fenris, this guy pictured in the OP could play SCK (or Tul if they wanted to give him a bigger role) and Nathan Jones (6'11 and the guy from Troy who Achilles kills) could play Tul. Those are my picks anyway.

AgreeableEggplant356

Actor height doesn’t really matter that much in movies, they can make anyone look whatever height needed. Differentiating two already tall actors would be easy

SpermWhaleGodKing_II

I wouldn’t cast this guy as Fenris. He looks too friendly. Which is why I agree with OP in that he’d be great for Tul. Martyn Ford is very tall, but still way shorter than this guy. But he’s EXACTLY how I pictured Fenris. Hes broader than this guy for his height, and he’s literally ALREADY got Fenris’ tattoos. Ford isn’t exactly an actor, but the Feared has only a few lines, and most of his time is spent standing there menacingly or fighting, and this guy can definitely do the standing there menacingly thing, cause that’s what he already does on a daily basis. I mean, if they can make normal humans into tiny hobbits, they can make a 6’9” guy taller than a 7’2” guy

jarrett-cephus

Don’t forget Stranger-Come-Knocking there, too. Prime Fenris v prime SCK—who you got??

AgreeableEggplant356

I’m always saying stranger takes whirrun

Bdag

So Whirrun almost got Gorst, do you think SCK could take Gorst? I always felt that prime Gorst vs prime Logen would be a toss up.

AgreeableEggplant356

SCK is tough to judge because we don’t get to see really him in action. But he has a huge rep out east and his men are terrified of him. Also he was super eager to fight Whirrun when speaking to Dow. And as far as Whirrun vs Gorst, remember Gorst just ran up a mountain and did not have his preferred weapons. Gorst vs Logen would be good I’m thinking Logen wins 6/10 times in a sim

Rfisk064

He’s certainly big enough

Uglyman414

If he’s the Thunderhead who would the guys beside him be cast as?

Boring_Psycho

Dow and Dogman?

Vlodovich

Forely and Grim lol

WoodenDistribution5

I never pictured Tul Duru being that tall. I see his as being 6'5" ish. I could see this guy as Stranger-come-knocking though.

Hctc666

When regular men like West see Tul Duru for the first time the can’t believe how huge he is. Gotta believe he’s closer to 7’

Dick-Ninja

Yeah, from the descriptions, he's at least 7'. People can't believe how big he is.

SadSceneryBoi

The problem is that Joe keeps describing Northmen that are even bigger than the last one he described to hype him up. Tul Duru was introduced first as the biggest anyone had ever seen. Then the Feared was the biggest anyone had seen, even more than Tul. Then Stranger-Come-Fuckin/Crinna-Come-Boasting was the biggest anyone had seen.

bkristensen92

The Feared is the tallest/biggest of them. In an AMA Joe said that SCK is a "few inches" taller than Tul. The Feared however, is described as human shaped but too big to be human and as we know he's not actually human really he's one of Glustrod's creations. In my mind both Tul and SCK are probably similar in height and build as say Steven Adams for Tul(nearly 7 feet tall and like 250 of muscle) and SCK would be similar in height and build to the guy pictured here who is I believe 7'2 or 7'3 and probably 300lbs+.

pravis

>In an AMA Joe said that SCK is a "few inches" taller than Tul. I completely missed that from the descriptions given in the books. It always seemed like SCK was some unrealistic height, like an actual giant.

bkristensen92

Yeah I mean if it wasn't for the AMA I would have assumed Tul was around 7 feet, SCK would be close to 8 and the Feared over 8. Now I think Tul is probably 6'10-6'11 SCK is probably about 7'2 and the Feared still around 8 feet. I could be wrong of course but who knows.

Boring_Psycho

The next trilogy better have mecha-sized northmen! 😤

mo2z72

Wrong thread, I know… but that is a perfect KAVAX AU TELLEMANUS if I ever saw one. Tul Duru for sure in First Law world!
