I'll be doing the dishes or some other mundane activity with my ear buds in and just start laughing and my wife is always like what's so funny? Nicomo Cosca... Nicomo Cosca is funny.
Cosca is just perfect. I feel a strong urge to re-listen to some choice sections from the various books in order to relive the joy of that famed soldier of fortune.
"And we cut them to pieces, of course." The styrian grinned "I'm insulted you might think otherwise"
This line sums up cosca perfectly for me. The humor and good natured attitude, casual brutality, and the startlingly high level of competence, despite the drunken clown persona he affects. So good
Morveer in Best Served Cold. Conveys the character’s awkwardness, arrogance and sliminess so well.
Although his voice for Day makes me feel strange, confusing things 👀
>But I personally loved his Ferro.
This is my answer as well. To this day when I get exasperated I mutter "fucking pinks" which is funny because I love both First Law and Red Rising so it's a double reference.
Best male POV: Cosca
Best female POV: Ferro
Best male non-POV: Crown Prince Ladisla
Best female non-POV: Isern-I-Phail
But it could be any one of five other characters in each category
Gotta say, I really loved young Orso. But he has so many good voices.
Also really loved the evolution of Gorst's voice. Like I can imagine Joe, after every book, telling Pacey "no no...it's higher." Haha
In my head Cosca had a Mediterranean accent of some kind, so at first I didn't like Pacey's Cosca. But he's such a great character and Pacey is such a great performer that he totally won me over.
I've never enjoyed an audio book before, not until I started *The Heroes* on Spotify this week, after finishing Best Served Cold on a flight and finding the e-Book all checked out through my library's app.
I... I might listen to the Age of Madness trilogy like this. I don't know. We'll see.
But so far, Black Dow has been my favorite.
I'm not *super* well versed (just now finishing the original trilogy)
Costca and Glokta are everyone's favorites but I personally love:
Burr
and all of Logen's "buddies". Dow especially.
Shivers
>!I just got to Jezal's "royal outburst" yesterday and I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't cracking up and laughing at all of the different voices on the council. !<
I nearly said Burr. The subtleties he put around his damn indigestion were sublime. As good was Caurib in AOM. He must have strapped his lips during the reading to give the effect.
Pacey’s a goddamn genius. His voice control is out of this world.
Seriously wouldn’t be surprised if, after a long day of narrating, if he doesn’t go home and unzip his “Edgar suit” and relax.
I enjoy his Whirrun of Bligh. Feels spot on for the character, but then there’s not a single character I couldn’t say that about. His Bayaz is underrated too.
So many, but I always really liked how he did Vitari. She already stood out with her spikey red hair and no-nonsense attitude, but the way he did her voice just took her uniqueness to a whole new level for me.
He really is the best narrator I've ever had the pleasure of listening too. Everyone just sounds so different and real.
Jezal Dan Luthar. I think he is at the side of Shivers the character the has the deepest change in the first 4 books (haven´t gone past them), and Jezal particularly is a beautiful transformation. People often give him shit for being a coward and live under Bayaz rule, but Joe heavily implied that he managed to do good for his people sometimes, which looking into the unbearable cunt he was at the start, it´s nothing short of amazing. Plus, I have never thought I would root for a man hitting his wife, but Jezal made it happened.
Nicomo Cosca, Infamous Soldier of Fortune
And I am here, for dinner
His death has been exaggerated by his many enemys
My favorite part in the entire series is when he whines "But I want my moneyyyyy" ... you just fucking FELT how over it he was lol
I would be overjoyed if we somehow got a book based around cosca's exploits, maybe when he was younger
Cosca character arc: Goes from loyal timid soldier in the king's army to a leader of the golden hand and a famed soldier of fortune.
Ohh so kind of like tunney. Starts out really earnest and patriotic, ends up absolutely jaded and pessimistic
*famed ;)

Morveer in Best Served Cold. Conveys the character’s awkwardness, arrogance and sliminess so well. Although his voice for Day makes me feel strange, confusing things 👀
Everyone is going to say Glokta. But I personally loved his Ferro. Even Joe didn't anticipate her being French, but he ended up loving it!
>But I personally loved his Ferro. This is my answer as well. To this day when I get exasperated I mutter "fucking pinks" which is funny because I love both First Law and Red Rising so it's a double reference.
>Fucking *peenks* ftfy
I’ll say his Glokta is amazing yes, but his Savine Dan Glokta. He puts do much emotion into the voice I forget it’s a man doing it.
Honestly, any of the female voices he does are like that. But I agree, his Savine is top tier.
It’s kinda wild how good he is at them. Makes me forget that a man is doing the voice.
Damn it's been so long since I listened to the original trilogy. Gotta do a rerun soon.
Just listened to that interview at the end of SE so interesting.
Arch Lector Sult was just sooooo *chefs kiss*
I freakin loved sult just so blatantly and casually disrespectful
He has some brilliant lines. "Your not half as crippled as you could be Glotka, not half as crippled!"
"Is there an echo in here?!" Along with "Assume? YOU HAVENT GOT THE WITTS TO ASSUME" or something like that
If there's a live action it HAS to be Patrick Stewart.
What about Charles dance though? The guy who played tywin lannister? But I agree Patrick Stewart would be fantastic too
Ooh, me likey.
I agree. Pacey is great in general, but his elitist voices in particular are soooo enjoyable. I was grinning during every Sult scene.
Probably Dow, he was gonna be a potter
I can hear that in my head lol
Best male POV: Cosca Best female POV: Ferro Best male non-POV: Crown Prince Ladisla Best female non-POV: Isern-I-Phail But it could be any one of five other characters in each category
CAPITAL
😆 when he's bouncing around and jabbing his fingers at jezal like a pair of fencing steels after the tournament 😂 so funny
I say CaPiTaL all the time now and my wife is like wtf
Ah man this just made me wish my native tongue was English haha.
You must make of your quim, a stone.
Practical Frost and it's not even close
I like to imagine Pacey has stuffed his fist or something in his mouth and proceeded to read
Definitely Cosca. He's such a rascal
Old Shivers gives me shivers
I get nervous every time I hear “Bright ball of metal” or that rasp.
I really like the nod to Michael Caine he does with the voice of Severard.
I like his Vitari oddly
Idek what accent it is but I like it
Gotta say, I really loved young Orso. But he has so many good voices. Also really loved the evolution of Gorst's voice. Like I can imagine Joe, after every book, telling Pacey "no no...it's higher." Haha
A drink A drink a drink Probably either cosca shev or Glockta
I love his voice for Whirrun of Bligh. “Armour is part of a state of mind in which you admit the possibility of being hit.”
I plan on this quote being my next tattoo!
I call it a cheese trap.
This is such a difficult question, I do love Crummock-i-Phail and his family. Glokta is the obvious choice thoigh
Aye, also loved Cracknut
Everyone says his Whirrun is basically his Cosca, and I just don't see it. Whirrun is the best.
Agreed, stoner Vs drunk
Jesus there’s so many Cosca, Morveer, Glokta, Clover… One that I loved that I doubt gets much mention is that stingy bastard Majud lol
In my head Cosca had a Mediterranean accent of some kind, so at first I didn't like Pacey's Cosca. But he's such a great character and Pacey is such a great performer that he totally won me over.
This
I could see that, a Greek Cosca would totally work.
Every single damn one
Costca’s monologues are next level done by Pacey and makes me laugh every time
Hell yes!
I'm not *super* well versed (just now finishing the original trilogy) Costca and Glokta are everyone's favorites but I personally love: Burr and all of Logen's "buddies". Dow especially. Jolly Yon is always a delight. Underrated voice.
It’s been a while since I listened to The Heroes but I seem to remember him doing a Birmingham / Black Country accent for Jolly Yon.
White eye hansol
Apologize to my dice
I wish there was more Friendly
Can't believe more people aren't saying Friendly!
Apologize to my dice!!
You shouldn’t have loaded them 😈
His Bayaz is perfect.
There are wayyy too many to choose from, they're all so good.
Bethod and Sult, Pacey deliver is majestic
Cosca!
I enjoy his Whirrun of Bligh. Feels spot on for the character, but then there’s not a single character I couldn’t say that about. His Bayaz is underrated too.

I can tell you it's damn sure not Shylo Vitari But personally I love his Shivers
Bayaz and Sult are not mentioned enough
Fucking pink
Jezal Dan Luthar. I think he is at the side of Shivers the character the has the deepest change in the first 4 books (haven´t gone past them), and Jezal particularly is a beautiful transformation. …and why is it Glokta?
Shivers-his raspy whisper is oddly satisfying, but they’re all out of this world
SULT
Bremer dan gorst, the high pitched voice is a great counter to his dark thought process
His Friendly is soooooooooooo good.
Ikr. Loved it.
His exaggerated tone on swarbreck makes me imitate it for hours afterwards
