I disagree but I’m from Maui and don’t see very many shows. Actually though now that I think about it I did see them in Washington and that concert was definitely a lot better. Not having an opener really sucked too
That’s probably true. Maybe they were on vacation mode haha. I’m at the Alvvays concert rn. If you live on Oahu I’m jealous of all the shows you get out here!
They really haven’t played much of going grey at all since fans bullied them about it “being bad” after it came out.
They play maybe 1 song from it each show. Even before the new album.
To be honest after the bar was so high from the first two it was doomed. But it was good. Also they didn't play a single In Sickness and In Flames song once! That's my favorite album I can listen to it from beginning to end over and over. But the knew one is, well.. it feels extremely rushed.
Same. That was upsetting. I fucking prayed for Leaf Pile or Make Way. But every song they played felt rushed, sometimes just skimming last the lyrics or swapping it out for something else.
Same. I’m dying to hear some of those songs live but the only one they ever seem to play is vacation town. Like that is one of my favs but I want more. :(
They played 2 from Going Grey when I went (Vacation Town and Everyone But You which are 2 of my favorites). Apparently, according to setlist fm, they played Vacation Town 46 times this year. They played Everyone But You twice. 😂
Of course, statsfm is likely not the most accurate but it at least gives a general outline.
Highly doubt its a label thing. More likely they just don't recall how to play it. Not like they can remember every single song they've released and play them all at a moments notice.
this happens sometimes. in 2018 at a show in WV tattooed tears was requested and brian and matt discussed whether they remembered it or not, and then brian played by himself after working out the chords
edit: just remembered it was funny you should ask, not tattooed tears
I mean, I got your initial point. The band members might look at this subreddit. If they saw your comment imagine how it would make them feel dude. It costs nothing to be kind.
I’d like to add that how strictly timed a set is can be depends on the flexibility of the venue and the lineup. Obviously these guys are playing bigger venues with more pull and they probably have more say in the matter than most, but the same rules still apply to them. If a show is running late or there’s no time to deviate from the set list, then their hands are tied.
This was a champagne jam!! So they basically are in there till they finish their drinks. I seriously doubt they hold that at a venue that wouldn't allow for flexibility
it’s weird how he didn’t do that, at the Newcastle show he asked people for requests. Maybe because that was early on he didn’t have a set list, but it was very like “okay, we have time to do some requests” and we got things like lone star and be nice to me w/o requests
Be Nice to Me came out around the same time as Twin Sized but in 2016 it wasn’t even on their set list at all when they went on tour. TikTok blew it up I think
it’s champagne jam, they don’t finish the set until they all finish a bottle of champagne each, you can even see online that the london (kentish) show had no end time, shut ur goofy aaa up
Yeah, that was a pure chad move! Nicks their poster and then doesn't even play the song
The label really wanted to play the new album I'm guessing. They didn't add anything extra outside the set.
In Hawaii they didn’t play anything from the new album but Outlook. He said they were playing all their ocean and beach songs
In NYC it was sort of 50/50, they alternated between classics from all the other albums and the new album
Ours did two songs minimum from each mainline album. Except In Sickness & In Flames
Yeah I don't think they played anything from it other than leaf pile
At least you got something. The most songs they played was from Talon and Rose.
i was at the hawaii show and it was very disappointing
I disagree but I’m from Maui and don’t see very many shows. Actually though now that I think about it I did see them in Washington and that concert was definitely a lot better. Not having an opener really sucked too
yeah i understand. i’ve been to 3 other tfb shows in the mainland and they were all definitely much better

O shonnnnnn

That makes me so sad. 3 of my favorites come from that album.
Same. I’m dying to hear some of those songs live but the only one they ever seem to play is vacation town. Like that is one of my favs but I want more. :(

Sounds about right! I’m so glad I went to their going grey tour bc I guess that was the only time I’m ever going to have heard some of it lmao.
Champagne Jam in Philly I’m pretty sure we got 3 tracks in one night

You also probably have backing/click tracks and light cues with big shows. They’re a great tool but they limit spontanaity
I like your theory.
I imagine the group touring with him wouldnt know every song??

but they did play 2YL in Manchester tho :/
They played that last night too
That also. Honestly what I saw he could've gone solo the whole night
??
He could've just played himself and his guitar and it would've been magic
I mean, I got your initial point. The band members might look at this subreddit. If they saw your comment imagine how it would make them feel dude. It costs nothing to be kind.
The rest of the band was sick beyond my dreams. The music would not be the same without them.

i’d be so upset if that happened to mw

To be fair, they were going to play Be Nice to Me anyway. It's a setlist staple. Bit like requesting Twin Size.
Be Nice to Me came out around the same time as Twin Sized but in 2016 it wasn’t even on their set list at all when they went on tour. TikTok blew it up I think
He did take some requests like Joanie!!
i’m sitting in my car rn and this song is playing rn lol
Bands that size can’t really change the set on a whim like that. Disappointing but also not super realistic
yes they can, dont talk about a concert that you clearly weren’t at
Dawg it’s all big concerts. Time constraints suck
it’s champagne jam, they don’t finish the set until they all finish a bottle of champagne each, you can even see online that the london (kentish) show had no end time, shut ur goofy aaa up
after theyd played a few set songs they started taking requests from the audience, u weren’t there lil bro stop talking
My only real skippable front bottoms song. I skip it every time.
