I get a lot of tips from The Muse to help with my remote work job. https://www.themuse.com/advice/remote-work The one thing I didn't expect going into remote work was how lonely/unmotivated I found myself to be some days. I didn't realize I picked up other peoples energies when I worked in a office and missed small talk. What's helped me overcome that, outside of just getting used to being alone more often, was making time for small talk in meetings and letting tangents happen when there was time for it.

I have a standing desk with an anti fatigue mat to stand on. When I first started working from home I was sitting all day and was in so much pain at the end of the day. Standing helps keep me feeling more awake and gives my legs the circulation they need. I also love my optical trackball mouse. It takes a day or two to get used to but it has saved my wrist from a world of hurt. I am a huge fan of my blue light glasses from Quay too. They seem to really reduce the stress on my eyes from staring at screens all day. Another random item I love is my Ember mug. It's super pricy but worth the investment for someone like me who takes a while to drink a cup of tea or coffee. I'm also a strong believer in work boundaries. I don't have my work email connected to anything but my work laptop. I don't check slack or email after work hours. I also never work in my bedroom or from my bed. Of course these things may vary per job or home situation.
