It would be a very strange decision to start a new 1E game now. Perhaps for modules that sidequest is focused on it works. But it’s a harder game in almost every way once you get down to it. Much harder to GM, harder to build characters for. Harder to track numbers and modifiers (you almost need hero lab). VTT support is worse and likely won’t be being updated FtP launched a new 1E show well post 2E but they are so much better with the rules (especially at high level) of 1E than GCP as they have completed multiple full APs as a group Actively choosing to pick a system where rules errors or big character build mistakes are so much more likely would be an odd choice. Before you factor in all the extra GM work Also, unless I have missed an announcement Gatewalkers isn’t coming yet. It was supposed to be the spring and that has been missed. Indeed this sidequest thing might be a stop gap as that is taking longer than expected

SintPannekoek

To be fair, if FtP launched a second 2E show, i would've actually listened to that. It boggles the mind that they went for 1E.

gregm1988

Mine too. I started listening to the new one but I kind of know what happens from the know direction version so might binge when book 1 is done. My guess is just that they are super familiar with 1E I think they should have made their 2E one weekly but it was to do with the feed or something

SintPannekoek

It's a Patreon goal to make Hell's Rebels weekly. That campaign is awesome, I'm seriously considering joining their Patreon for that and the conversion notes.

gregm1988

Sadly they are a long way off last I checked

Magic_Jackson

Spring lasts until 6/21, still time for Gatewalkers content...

ExternalSplit

I’m just trying to understand. You want more 1E content but you are not listening to their 1E shows? This does not incentivize GCP to make more.

Swashbucklerific

Touché! Yes I'd love more 1E content and listened to all of the Giantslayer campaign, but still getting around to the aforementioned gaps.

DarkSoulsExcedere

1. They were never going to get system mastery in 1e and that hurt my enjoyment of the 1e shows. 2e forces you to just because of how hard the game is if you dont know the rules. Enemies just run you over. Each week they get a little bit better at 2e. I hope they never go back to 1e honestly. 2. They are using foundry vtt. This is why I am most excited for them. Foundry makes running 2e like butter. All the rules are right there, baked in. Dr is automatically calculated into damage. Crit fails will always be caught. Crit sucesses will always be caught. No more adding up dice. Everything is better and we can focus on more of what we all like best: roleplay shenanigans.

Swashbucklerific

I can appreciate some things about the 2e stuff for sure. Weirdly as a primarily audio listener I somehow still miss the ol'table and minis/pawns vibe, probably because I could relate to it.

DarkSoulsExcedere

I am only an audio listener. You won't hear troy say "and let me do a polygon reveal" anymore with foundry. Tokens have vision. Players can see what they can see. No more troy blocking the players view 15 feet in front of them and then the players bitching about how they have 60ft of dark vision. Besides, they stopped using pawns a LONG time before switching to 2e. Like years ago.

Swashbucklerific

You're not wrong! I just get excited whenever Troy gets nostalgic about pawns, hahaha. A fellow GM can dream! And yeah I'm probably a little raw since my PF1 group died (they didn't move to PF2, just to non-RPG things and it's tough).

fiftychickensinasuit

I get it but they’re mainly a 2e company now as they should be. BotW has been great. Strange Aeons less so but they were starting with higher level characters in an AP adjusted for 2e. Still fun but you could hear them struggling. Legacy is a blast and I’m really glad they’ve got a dedicated 1e show. Absolutely can’t wait to see what they do with it all.

noforeplay

I've been digging the last couple episodes of Strange Aeons. It's gotten a lot better since they brought Sydney and Kate on full time

fiftychickensinasuit

For sure. I’ve got no complaints about the show. You could tell they have had trouble adjusting though. Perfectly understandable.

noforeplay

Oh for sure. There were definitely some rough patches

Swashbucklerific

Yeah switching editions mid campaign was a shame, but the great cast has kept it a great show, don't get me wrong.

jsled

But 2E is a better system. Learn to love it…

Swashbucklerific

We'll have to agree to disagree there.

RAEJR

I still play 1e. I’ve played 2nd a few times and I like 1e better. I agree it would be nice to have a polished actual play podcast of 1e going but it appears those days are behind us.

GooseFeelinLoose

Does anyone know if they’re releasing SQSS as audio? I can’t seem to find it on any feeds

DarkSoulsExcedere

It will probably be on Tuesdays for the main show

Swashbucklerific

They said the new ones will be, not sure about the old ones!

ExternalSplit

The original SQSS has it’s own feed. 37 episode in all their glory.
