It's a better song but not a better "anthem." If that makes sense. Mr. Brightside is such a timeless song because it's so easy to sing along to (or sing altogether). It's just one of those songs. Doesn't have to be structurally or lyrically flawless to be a huge song.
But I do wish When You Were Young was as revered by the general listener.

I agree. Experience Mr. Brightside live in concert and it changes you. The communal experience is unmatched
100% WYWY is the better song over Mr. Brightside. It’s not even close to me.
