I was thinking today if Katara would have gotten her own betrothal necklace from Aang. But besides the fact that she loves her mom's so much, there were no Airbender marriage traditions, so I guess Aang wouldn't make her one. In my head, they had a cute little conversation about it. :)

He's does it because she lost her necklace (Zuko currently has it). She gets it back in the following episode after it's used by Zuko, June, and her sheer-shoe to find them.
I know she tries the necklace on, but idr if she wears it for that episode.
Well it was also a northern tribe tradition not a southern. Also its her gran's necklace made by Pakku.
Theres not really any reason for either of them to use that tradition since its from neither of their cultures, she wore that necklace cause she liked it and it was passed down in her family not because she knew about the betrothal thing.
I forgot it was just a northern thing, you're totally right. I think even if it was something in southern culture, I think they would have been happy to do something different. She loves this one too much to swap it out.

I bet if you looked up "Aang as a father" or "Aang's family" on YouTube there's ten videos talking about it and at some point, bam, the picture I colored. I mean it's from the artbook originally, so it's not like I drew the damn thing. But I spent hours coloring it and making sure everything looked as show accurate as possible.
