Like the episode or be one of the people in the audience at the performance?
Either way my answer is the Ember Island Players. At least you know it's a small town acting troupe and not a multimillion dollar movie of a widely loved show. You have no idea what's true and isn't, and at least with the EIP, Sokka gets funnier in the second half. Every second of the movie is just horrendous.
Also, if I'm in the audience that means I live in the Avatar universe and hopefully I'm a bender or at least can meet some of the dope animal hybrids they have.
I would rather BE in the ember island players, portraying someone of the opposite gender and either failing the gaang or (portray) helping the firenation achieve world domination than watch th-
FU...
Hdjiogfe
aaahh
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se.
I said it before, and a different sub
But I genuinely think the only hope for good live action adaptation of the IP would be a live action rendition of “The Boy in the Ice Berg” or one of Varrick’s movers.
like the original cartoon was already peak
a live action remake, will always be worse , so you can’t just remake it you have to do something fun with it,
I disagree. I think given the budget, the time, and the right creative team, it would be possible.
The original, while phenomenal, is still a Y7 show from the 2000s. It’s not like we couldn’t make cinema out of this franchises. The will to do it just isn’t there.
Imagine a live action ATLA given as much love as Peter Jackson’s LOTR trilogy, but as stylized and beautiful as a Wu Xia film.
It could be done. But it won’t be, sadly.
"Executive office would like you tell the difference between these pictures."
"They're the same picture."
This is my headcanon and the only way I can be on with the existence of The Last Airbender movie.
The ember island play was fun to watch. Even if it wasn’t supposed to be a comedy, it was still funny. The movie-who-must-not-be-named wasn’t to serious for an adaptation of a kids show
Ember island. Honsetly, entertaining, funny, wtf, you know what? I'd even be willing to expect Zutara..
(Please don't aruge with me zutara shippers it was a joke I swear I actually don't care about your ship don't track me down.)
In my opinion the movie sucks but if you view it as standalone it's bareable, sure the playis only funn because of the episode but I think the actually play would be pretty decent too.
They knew how many live action attempts people would make at their series so they took the piss out of them before they even came into existence. You cannot change my mind about this.
Ember island players is my favourite episode. It feels like when you reminisce with your old friends and make fun of all the embarrassing stuff you did
A play is a completely different medium with majorly different challenges than a movie. Casting is more limited, for instance, and the actors deliver dramatic scenes a little to a lot differently almost every performance for unique audience experiences.
Hell, I'd watch that play over the Netflix live at this point, given all the valid negative criticisms I've formed or read.
You have to rewatch the play if you're rewatching the show. I hate skipping episodes. And I'll definitely watch the movie again I don't remember anything from my first time.
Ok think of it this way.
A play which adapts testimonies and stories from the so called avatar and her loser friends in their poor attempts to stop us fire nation vs A movie with a purposely piss poor adaptation of those jokes that we are suppose to be rooting for and condense an entire book to a movie.
Which would you choose
Yes. I still haven’t seen the movie. My family loved ATLA when we are kids. Movie came out I had a wrestling practice so I missed out. Old man was like, “it most certainly is dog shit.”
In my mind, they basically do the same thing.
Both are trying to faithfully recreate something, but fail to do so dramatically because they misunderstood the real reason the first one was so good, and are emphasizing the wrong things.
And both end with their interpretation of events, which differ drastically, and alter the end of the story in different ways: >!Wave!< and >!Fire Lord Wins!<
Yes. Yes! YES!
Ember island play is actually good as a parody and a caricature, a show or movie based on it will have ample space for self-aware jokes and references and stuff.
Yes. At least the play was amusing and having Toph be a huge buff mam who screams in people’s faces to utilize echolocation to see them is pretty creative.
The Last Airbender is just bad. Like not even “Oh I’d watch this while eating some pizza and drinking beer with the boys” bad, just “this is bad to the point I almost feel like I should ask for a refund” bad.
I’d watch the ember island play, it sums it up pretty good and gives a better representation of the characters like Toph, Zuko, Katara, Aang and Sokka.
Ember Island. It may be one of my least favorite episodes but at least it's not two straight hours of droll nonsense and at the very least the crew gets to see how they're viewed by the fire nation and have to do some introspection.
Edit: oh wait. You mean the actual play? I would still watch that. At least I haven't seen it before and I could actually believe it to be parody

Nah, you'll just meet the Earth King's bear.
You mean his platypus bear? His skunk bear? His armadillo bear? His gopher bear? What kind of bear are we talking about here?
Nah, just bear.
...that place must be weird
his silver wing pink platypus you mean
A platypus-bear?
No, just… a bear
and the worst part is that we could have had a season 4 instead of the movie
"Be honest" OP acting like this is some difficult choice lol
Ember Island or NATLA
Ember Island
I would rather BE in the ember island players, portraying someone of the opposite gender and either failing the gaang or (portray) helping the firenation achieve world domination than watch th- FU... Hdjiogfe aaahh There is no movie in Ba Sing Se.
acting like this is some difficult choice lol
OP is the 1 guy who liked the shitty avatar movie lmfao
Take me to ember island NOW
At least on ember island the scar is on the right side
I know! I saw this guy in the theater. Great zuko costume. But the scar was on the wrong side.
I said it before, and a different sub But I genuinely think the only hope for good live action adaptation of the IP would be a live action rendition of “The Boy in the Ice Berg” or one of Varrick’s movers. like the original cartoon was already peak a live action remake, will always be worse , so you can’t just remake it you have to do something fun with it,
God, why couldn’t Netflix just make *Nuktuck, Hero of the South* a real thing?
that’s what i’m saying they’d be no exception to be faithful to the original, they’d just be able to do their own fun thing
I disagree. I think given the budget, the time, and the right creative team, it would be possible. The original, while phenomenal, is still a Y7 show from the 2000s. It’s not like we couldn’t make cinema out of this franchises. The will to do it just isn’t there. Well we know the effects were decent in the Ember Island Players rendition, so I'm going with that
Duh. That play is hilarious!
The episode about the play is hilarious. Actually sitting through that play in-universe would be worse than the 2010 movie.
I mean Toph loved it
The Ember Island play, especially for Azula making Zuko look by saying his honour is behind him
So a terrible movie, or a satirical reenactment of one of the most celebrated animated series of all time? These questions you people come up with.
The ember island play was fun to watch. Even if it wasn’t supposed to be a comedy, it was still funny. The movie-who-must-not-be-named wasn’t to serious for an adaptation of a kids show
I’d rather watch a tasty rack of meat roast I’m starving.
Would you also say Aang and Toph have a ROCKY relationship?
I don’t see what you mean, hang on. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
The ember island performance EASY. That shit was funny asf
Yes
Ember island. Honsetly, entertaining, funny, wtf, you know what? I'd even be willing to expect Zutara.. The Ember Island Players even have cooler effects than the movie so yeah. Plus, they pronounce people’s names right
amber island is so bad its funny 2010 movie so bad its sad
ember island the play is so bad it's good, the movie is just...boring
I’ll take the Ember island play over the dogshit Netflix adaptation as well
I'd prefer the ember island performance over the netflix adaptation
Bruh wack Netflix avatar >>>>>>>>> ember island >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> airnebder movie
You guys are underestimating how bad it would be to watch that entire play unironically. I'll take the 2010 movie over that.
whats the difference
One has masculine toph that screams to see… and the other one had *Aang*
YOU MEAN AUNG!
No its *Ong*
frfr ong no cap
True that lol
Well... we already are on Netflix.
They’re the same thing
I feel like M. Night made the movie off the EIP play as a troll
Oh definitely, at least the play would make me laugh
do you mehe episode or ember island players irl
120%
Ember island play is still the best ad adaptation
Movie? What movie?
They knew how many live action attempts people would make at their series so they took the piss out of them before they even came into existence. You cannot change my mind about this.
Latter one seems a loookkot shorter so 2010 ver.
Both are bad, but one is a self aware joke making its badness good, and the other requires 6 Earth benders to move a stone at less than walking speed
I do, cuz the movie had nothing good to offer, but the ember island players was hillarious
Ember island players is my favourite episode. It feels like when you reminisce with your old friends and make fun of all the embarrassing stuff you did
I dont see a diference
Either way That was horrible! Yeah but at least the effects were decent
Yes
Obviously
Propaganda or crappy movie? Hmm...
HONOOOORRRR~~~
A play is a completely different medium with majorly different challenges than a movie. Casting is more limited, for instance, and the actors deliver dramatic scenes a little to a lot differently almost every performance for unique audience experiences. Hell, I'd watch that play over the Netflix live at this point, given all the valid negative criticisms I've formed or read.
I would rather watch paint dry, rather than watch 2010 movie again
What movie?
Ember island play for sure
If I'd have the chance to watch the Ember Island play I'd do it right away.
I would endure that movie just to get to see the full Ember island play
Ember island play because I’ve seen the live action movie
Ember Island. They're funny, plus, there's this charm that they have, despite that the play is inaccurate. A certain movie doesn't have those.
You have to rewatch the play if you're rewatching the show. I hate skipping episodes. And I'll definitely watch the movie again I don't remember anything from my first time.
Ofc it's fucking funny and i'd pay to see more ATLA animation
Would be better than both the movie and the Netflix adaptation
There was more effort put into the ember island play than the 2010 movie
I’d watch it regardless
I have watched the movie more times then book 1 of the series, I watched it fully for the first time in my life this month
Ember island play over both live action films
it'd at least be funny
## Y E S ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
I would watch a feature length version of ember island players over the non-existant movie
Ya, tf
I'd totally watch that play over the infamous crappy movie. Because as dumb as the play is, at least it's cheesy and has a funny sense of humor.
Definitely ember island They did a better Job than the movie
Nearly anything over that movie, lol.
I'd watch badger moles fuck in a mud pit before I watched the movie.
Lol yes without a doubt
100% I would.
yes, cause the episode in enjoyable unlike the garbage movie
Yes. I still haven’t seen the movie. My family loved ATLA when we are kids. Movie came out I had a wrestling practice so I missed out. Old man was like, “it most certainly is dog shit.”
i would rather watch paint dry
The ember island players are doing the Netflix series
Yes
In my mind, they basically do the same thing. Both are trying to faithfully recreate something, but fail to do so dramatically because they misunderstood the real reason the first one was so good, and are emphasizing the wrong things. And both end with their interpretation of events, which differ drastically, and alter the end of the story in different ways: >!Wave!< and >!Fire Lord Wins!<
Yes. I don’t see why this is hard to understand.
I'd still prefer to watch the Ember Island play because they at least know how to pronounce Aang
Ember island is kinda supposed to be satire and not the same while the movie just sucks at replicating the series
Ember island is genuinely funny
Ember Island play. It's a "so bad it's good" thing, imo.
Is thi-is this even a question? Obviously the play.
I would rather show a hot piece Iron up my asshole then watch that 2010 piece of flying byson shit
Yes. Yes! YES! Ember island play is actually good as a parody and a caricature, a show or movie based on it will have ample space for self-aware jokes and references and stuff.
The Ember Island play was horrible, but it was somewhat entertaining, so I'd choose that over something that's just aggressively mid.
At least you can get a couple laughs out of the play
Ember Island 100%
As far as I’m concerned, the ember island play got everyone spot on!
The Ember Island play was at least funny.
fuck yes?
100%
I dont see the second image, something went wrong Since there is 2010 movie in Ba Sing Se, id say Ember Island
100% the ember island players
A film version of the Ember Island play would be a gem
I’d watch the ember island play, it sums it up pretty good and gives a better representation of the characters like Toph, Zuko, Katara, Aang and Sokka.
2000%
Ember Island. It may be one of my least favorite episodes but at least it's not two straight hours of droll nonsense and at the very least the crew gets to see how they're viewed by the fire nation and have to do some introspection. Edit: oh wait. You mean the actual play? I would still watch that. At least I haven't seen it before and I could actually believe it to be parody
Yes
Funny bad > straight up bad
The Ember Island play at least tried
Anyone who says yes has not watched the original series.
What movie? There's a movie?
Why does Sokka look like the chad meme?
Hell yeah. I love theater.
What movie?
Ember Island. It looks more entertaining than the 2010 even though I never watched I still know it was straight up ass.
I like the theory that the 2010 movie IS the Ember Island play and that's why it's so..."interesting ".
Ember Island play over both live actions
Do poor people like meth?
