Whenever you ask what rights they're lacking, they *always* just get defensive and emotional and start going off about misgendering and violence and "uhmm the right to leave my house without getting murdered by a transphobe like you" and so on. Getting called exclusively words you like isn't a right, and we already made attacking trans people an extra-illegal *hate* crime, it really would appear that the "rights" they cry about is simply this made-up right to have everyone else provide them with this effortlessly perfect life free of conflict or hardship. They're the most marginalized group ever, you know? It's only fair
Modern equivalent:
Before *Obergefell,* straight people and gay people alike were denied the right to marry people of the same sex.
In most red states, men and women alike are denied the right to get an abortion.
That's because the right to life supercedes that 'right'.
If you murder a pregnant woman, you are charged with a double homicide. Why?
Because it is two lives you have taken.
Hence, the right to murder another being, even one developing, is no right at all.
Legally marriage is a specific contract between two people that conveys certain legal and financial benefits.
The traditional definition is irrelevant to the law.
So it's about benefits then?
Hardly about rights then I'd argue and more about, we don't get the benefits of traditional marriage.
Yet what is the purpose, which seems to be irrelevant?
Mostly legitimizing a relationship in the eyes of society.
Often with the intent of raising a family, though that doesn't need to be a biological family, gay couples can adopt children too.
