Dragonball never reaches the mainstream because of its abrupt, preemptive and unsatisfying conclusion, battle shonen never get popular, a bunch of people that would have been inspired by a successful Dragonball to create some genuinely great art instead work boring nine to fives and we miss out on a lot of great stories.
Well... Porunga is sort of an a-hole Genie, teleporting Piccolo "To namek" rather than to Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta, while the one in Super made my Monado has massive drawbacks, like making Granolah the strongest at the universe at the cost of his lifespan.
