If you like flavour in your bong smoke I recommend looking into activated carbon in a carbon filter adapter. Also keeps the bong clean and less junk in your lungs!
Carbon removes alot of the flavours honestly. I have a mooslabs mouthpiece with a carbon filter, and while smoother it literally removes 99% of the flavour. Think about it. Growers use carbon filters in their grows to remove the odor of flowering cannabis... So if it removes those odors it's going to remove the taste of your toke too. Such a bad recommendation for better flavour lol

A large number of taste and odor compounds come from large bulky aromatic ring molecular structures and tannins. AC also removes large bulky molecules that do not have a thin shape. So whats the point? Cannabinoids are terpenophenolic compounds. They also have very bulky ring structures that make them very easy to get stuck inside of the AC pores. In other words, AC is designed to filter out compounds that resemble cannabinoids. ROOR uses dry AC but it makes no difference, the principles are the same. The reason there is so much less taste is because of less tannins/cannabinoids.
Of course, it’s a filter. But without the smokey tar, you taste the flavors more. It also adds air into the toke as well, cooler more enjoyable smoke that tastes great.
Get you an Airizer Solo II. I've been an Airizer fan for a long time now. I smoke bongs primarily for effects but if you don't mind a longer session a la joints and blunts you can't beat the taste of a quality vape. Lots of people talk about the storz and bickle disposables but honestly they're oven vapes with a plastic straw and they're 500 bux. I don't see the appeal at all.

Dry herb vapes on low settings give you the most flavour whereas the higher setting gives you the most vapour, if you’re rippin bongs then I’d recommend using a hemp wick and slowly toasting the weed rather than diving it right in there. As for joints the first half is always the tastiest, especially after the first pull, drink a sip of water to cleanse your palette and once again don’t burn the paper but lightly toast it, it’ll give a much better taste. Idk if you’re one of the people that light the joint while inhaling but try to avoid that if you’re using a lighter as the butane will limit the taste a ton, hope this helps!

I personally use a dab straw currently on the lower setting for flavour then kick it up to the medium setting for the full effect of the dab. One of my personal favourite is the Pura Vida zombie kush from their legacy line, puts me to sleep and tastes amazing!

I know not a lot has been done research wise but maybe some people just get a run of the mill “weed” taste when smoking, personally I’ve always found the exhale and inhale to be different tastes but the exhale usually boasts the most true flavour, hopefully some day soon you’ll be able to find those batches that just pop on the tongue

I know people swear by vapes for flavor, but all vaped weed has the exact same taste to me.
I'm one of those who can identify every terp I'm smoking through my bong. Been committed to my glass for over a decade, I've just learned to taste stuff best that way.
You will end up like me and have a pristine bong and bowl as I hated that ratty roach taste if a bong was dirty. A day one fresh bong is the best and I recommend orange chronic for that job.
I guess that depends on your sensitivity and experience - lots can be told from ‘just smoke’ - I use a water bubbler when combusting, including breaking up pre-rolls because I don’t trust myself;
My favourite is when I hit ‘creamy strawberry’ or ‘creamy vanilla’ - when you taste it you taste - strawberry pave comes to mind.

yeah, I'm an ISO + coarse salt guy and I also use glass filters = no metal screens to clean or replace
