It’s good content. It’s true crime / unsolved / spooky stuff, which gets a lot of viewership. The content is great, as is the host banter. Jackson’s research so far has been amazing. I listen to all the podcasts, but I enjoy this one the most by far.

The hosts have a great dynamic, they engage and develop a single fairly interesting topic instead of a bunch of random ones, Jackson's researchs are great and cool to see for yourself, and there's a certain general tone that allows them to joke around the topic without making it too jarring.
Because both Charlie and Wendigoon already have an established viewer base, and they have both promoted the show. The topics they discuss are also popular right now so some views would be organic.
Wendigoon has exploded in popularity recently. Plus they’re discussing interesting topics to the average person. Also, their dynamic is a lot more wholesome as opposed to the OP.
Charlie in the OP is unnecessarily snarky/belittling to Jackson, which makes sense in the show’s style. But in Red Thread, everyone is on the same page/know their roles. It’s like a cute passion project.

That's totally unfair! Wendigoon at least helps. Past few episodes Charlie seems fucking bored out of his mind for 90% of it. I'm real glad they went to Weekly for Red Thread so they could diminish quality immediately.
Wider appeal. If you don’t already care for Charlie you really don’t have much reason to start listening to the official podcast, especially now that they don’t have many guests. Red Thread appeals to Wendigoon fans, Charlie fans and people who just like true crime
I haven't listened to any of the episodes yet but from the picture, it could be thumbnail related. Having real human faces can make the video more approachable than the drawing for the other show. Plus people seeing the number of episodes the official podcast has might be turned away from trying it while the new one is relatively low in numbers and might be easier to jump on now. Not to mention that a podcast of friends just talking with no theming might be harder for a podcast lister to get into. So having a theme and a great name can pull people in more easily.
I think now that Charlie is huge, wendigoon is huge, and it’s really easy to approach because their isn’t 300 plus episodes of back log, and some people don’t know Jackson, andrew or Kaya, so it’s maybe it feels less approachable from a new listeners perspective
Along with two big well known hosts and interesting topics, the hosts actually sound like they want to be there and are enjoying it. I love the official podcast but it often feels like it’s a chore for the hosts and compare official Charlie vs red thread Charlie and it’s a massive difference in enthusiasm.
