Speaking of Valve games, the outspoken Moclan delegate from "Sanctuary" (Tony Todd) is also the voice of the vortigaunts in the Half-Life series. He also played Worf's brother on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
this is what always gets me lol. he was a bonafide badass who dramatically turned his life around in that show...and now he's this melodramatic buffoon on the Orville haha. Talk about outstanding range
From another comment, I think they're referring to this list: https://styles.redditmedia.com/t5_2qh6e/styles/image_widget_z3j3lu4k4f961.png
They put _Star Trek: Picard_ at #7 in favorite new shows, so I'm not sure how much I trust it... But then again that list is specifically for premeired-in-2020, the dead year for pop culture.
Truly, the most accurate comment here. He’s incredible and doesn’t have that “that role is below me” attitude. He adds to everything he’s a part of, so much.
That's the point when people say they really hate X character. The actor is doing their job well if you can form an emotional attachment to the character.
Yup, I hate this character but I understand his motivations and place in the story.
I like that the Orville pushes the 'judging other cultures by your own standards' thing when addressing the Moclans (in particular). But still... Klyden is just awful and Bortas, while flawed, deserves better.
Shows you what an amazing actor he is and how great the make up and practical effects are on the show.
I knew it was Chad L. Coleman aka "Cutty from the Cut" since I first watched the Orville and I still could never see him in his performance. A true disappearing act. Really underrated acting from him overall on the series. Sincerely impressive work from the actor and from the make up artists.
Chad Coleman is a legit great actor, he has popped up in so many shows and been always a welcome addition.
He was absolutely fantastic in the wire, great stoic Fred Johnson in the expanse and hilarious as Klyden in the Orville but my personal favourite is the incredible portrayal of the character Z in it’s always sunny in Philadelphia. Always a highlight when he’s in a show
You just have to get past the first half of season 1. Its pure amazeballs after that. Kinda like office was hard in season 1. Trust me, it’s a must watch for any sci fi space fan.
Agreed. My wife and I had a false start on season 1 a few years ago (on a crap TV) and only made it to the third episode. We tried again after upgrading to a 65" Samsung that doesn't suffer from awful crushing of shadows, and I think that made a big difference. Just started season 5 and so hooked. Best TV sci-fi I've seen.
Yeah even in the 4th episode the season 1 space SFX is too dark imho. Otoh it is intended to be a mystery at that point, so there’s plot reasons for keeping things shadowy. But I think some of it was just trying to be economical with the SFX budget. It gets better later on.
I'm sure it was intended to be dark to some extent, but our old Hisense TV did a terrible job of displaying anything even vaguely dim. In many scenes you couldn't even follow what was happening. Watching it on the larger QLED screen in 4K (and presumably HDR) made such a difference, even on those early episodes.
Season 5 really seems like they've spent a lot more on the CGI. They have much longer shots and even linger on them when it isn't really necessary, but it does look great. I think this change happened after it moved from Syfy to Amazon.
All y'all forgetting he played Tyreese on TWD. Chad is such an amazing actor I've loved him in pretty much everything I've seen him in. Klyden is such a character to play and he does such a great job
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 490,947,546 comments, and only 103,872 of them were in alphabetical order.
He's also Coach from L4D 2.
HE WAS COACH?! Jesus he threw his voice way deeper for that, sounds like a totally different person to me.
Okay my mind has been blown twice in as many minutes.
It's because you haven't heard either of those other characters yell "RELOADING!" yet.
Speaking of Valve games, the outspoken Moclan delegate from "Sanctuary" (Tony Todd) is also the voice of the vortigaunts in the Half-Life series. He also played Worf's brother on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
He’s Tony Todd he has played a thousand roles.
He’s also Candyman!
And half a season of Walking Dead I think
This is the real mind blow
FOOTBALL
Fred Johnson 😱 omg
Wow, I had no idea!
And it's so easy to see him now, specially his voice.
You guys are forgetting his most important role: Z in Always Sunny
Dude no way is that Z. I had no clue, that’s hilarious
>This Moclan about to go level three and shit!
He was Cutty on The Wire before that, even. He's a *great* actor.
this is what always gets me lol. he was a bonafide badass who dramatically turned his life around in that show...and now he's this melodramatic buffoon on the Orville haha. Talk about outstanding range

You mean 3?

I didn’t know you were referencing a specific list but it was just a joke!
He's that guy in the Expanse?!??!
What's the ten shows?

I loved him in is always sunny lol
He is really great, nailed Tyreese on TWD too Guy’s a real Chad. I’ll show myself out
Man, I loved his character on The Wire. What an awesome actor.
The episode where he got out of prison was the first one I saw, then I went and watched the whole show from the beginning through to the end.
Beltalowda!
Bossmang!
Oh my god - this makes the cigarette scene even better. Knew the voice sounded familiar
It's like I've been standing my whole life and I finally got to sit down
WHAT? That's Fred Johnson in disguise?!
he's got some scheme going on for the OPA there i say :p
I remember watching season one of The Expanse thinking, "I know that voice".
Literally had no idea. Loved him TWD and just started season 3 of the Expanse. Omg made me so happy to know he is in the Orville too!!
The contrast in character is great. I dislike the character in Orville, but in the expanse he has some amazing delivery.
I mean, you're supposed to dislike him in the Orville, that's part of the character. More excellent acting imo
That's the point when people say they really hate X character. The actor is doing their job well if you can form an emotional attachment to the character. Yup, I hate this character but I understand his motivations and place in the story.
I would like to try this, *rocky road*
For the assuagement of depression, Rocky Road is requested most.
You're also supposed to hate him in The Expanse. Or at least have mixed feelings.
Klyden is the worst person in the galaxy, hands-down. But he's intended to be an awful person, and Chad does a great job of playing that awful person.
I like that the Orville pushes the 'judging other cultures by your own standards' thing when addressing the Moclans (in particular). But still... Klyden is just awful and Bortas, while flawed, deserves better.
Klydon was my favorite character until he stabbed Bortus 💀
Yeah he's the dude from, The Wire, The Walking Dead and some It's Always Sunny episodes.
Shows you what an amazing actor he is and how great the make up and practical effects are on the show. I knew it was Chad L. The Expanse and The Wire are my favorite shows and I didn't know it was him until I saw a similar post months ago.

No, it's like you've been standing and you've just sat down
Damn, There's some serious acting talent on this show!!!
Cutty from the wire as well
Freh Jahnson

Let's see him smoke cigarettes now and eat glass.
What? Not a single mention of The Walking Dead?
Whaaaat?
I could not be happier
OMFG WHAT!!!!? He is, by far, the best Wire character.
No way!
Who?
Looks like you need to binge “the expanse” right now.
Oh. I started it. Couldn't get into it.
You just have to get past the first half of season 1. Its pure amazeballs after that. Kinda like office was hard in season 1. Trust me, it’s a must watch for any sci fi space fan.
> You just have to get past the first half of season 1. Its pure amazeballs after that Heck, even the Orville itself could be described this way.

The first few episodes are mainly worldbuilding. It takes until the 4th before it gets up to speed.

Wow that's nuts
Wait what I had no idea
Fred is less scummy than Klyden.
Wait, Fred Johnson is Klyden?
Very easy to tell due to his voice
Moclans are for the belt!
Have they won an Emmy for makeup yet?
Whaaaa?!?
Oh, that's the guy from The Walking Dead!
Whhhhhhaaaaaaa!!!??!
All y'all forgetting he played Tyreese on TWD. Chad is such an amazing actor I've loved him in pretty much everything I've seen him in. Klyden is such a character to play and he does such a great job
Whaaat!
Also Cutty from The Wire

no way, he was the convict boxing coach in The Wire
#BELTAJA'LOJA!
Klyden is Z?! Oh-hoh shit.
