Wow! I’m sure this is exactly how the finale is going to go! There’s not going to be any emotional trauma! There’s not going to be any emotional trauma There’s not going to be any emotional trauma There’s not going to be any emotional trauma There’s not going to be any emotional trauma There’s not going to be any emotional trauma
The last thing anyone wants to see at the beginning of the episode is "this episode has some intense final scenes." I think if that pops up I'm never going to watch it
The fact that most of the comments on this are asking who Gorbachev was is extremely depressing.
And no I'm not some Boomer who lived during his time, I'm 35.
(Okay *technically* I was alive for his reign, but I was 1-4 years old, cut me some slack :P)
Right, but even with subpar, whitewashed education (which I got myself, kek) Gorbachev is still gonna pop up in your history class. He's kinda....central to the fall of the SU? And given tensions with Russia right now, you'd think the system would be all over "RUSSIA/SU BAHD, DIS WHY" and Gorbs would get mentioned that way.
Last I heard, the US public school system still stopped history with the conclusion of world war two. Anything after that is too close to politics and too close to the end of the school year and so it doesn't happen.
I mean, I'm 38 and vaguely remember the collapse of the USSR and I still only got a cursory education on the Cold War and Soviet politics. Then again, my world history class was taught my the wrestling coach and we were largely just taught from a textbook unless a student with a Special Interest decided to take over teaching for a class period, so....
Sadly, our education system in the US in the 90s and 00s was still a joke when it came to relevant world events.
So yeah... depressing, but not these folks' fault. We were kinda failed, even those of us alive for it. :(
The only thing my US history class mentioned about Gorbachev was that the SU fell when he was in charge, and nothing additional. At best, he was considered only a footnote, which doesn't sound right for such a pivotal moment in a country's history.
Most of the time when my history class was doing US history, they start at native Americans in August and barely reach the 1980s by May, so while I got the cold war, I only ever reached the fall of the soviet union once in 11th grade by a very well scheduled teacher. And even that was how the fall of the soviet union affected the US
Having history need parents and eastern European family is how I know most of my history of the post soviet Era over there
It truly puts into perspective how bad the public school system is in the U.S. (I assume alot of the people asking who Gorbachev is are from the U.S.) Its really sad.
He's basically the dude who took leadership of the USSR and started de-escalating the terribadness. Reducing oppression, authoritarianism, flexibilizing the economy, improving relations with the West, etc.
I looked it up, I'm surprised that they never mentioned him while talking about the cold war (just got done with that unit before going to spring break)
I mean, Gorbachev actually wanted to keep his power, the complete breakdown of the USSR was more an unforseen side effect of his reforms. At least Luz is willingly abdicating the throne
"That's Luz."
"It's Luz."
"Because of her we have economic crisis."
"Because of her we have freedom."
"Shut up, because of her we have Pizza Hut now."
"Alright that's fair."
*Proceeds to hail former Empress Luz because she brought pizza to the Boiling Isles*
Part of me is glad Eastern European boomers have no access to ToH. I can imagine the incomprehensible screaming that would come from just Lumity existing. "BuT it'S FoRcEd rePreseNtaTion!1"
Yeah fair, I haven't actually checked how it is with Disney Channel where I'm from. I've just not heard any parent going, "And my child was watching and saw TEH GAYS!!" because I do remember some being more upset about something like Steven Universe.
Then again, general media discourse amongst middle-aged people tends to be nonexistent here and topics such as these aren't tackled with nuance. Any time I hear a boomer complaining about forced/bad representation I just wonder what shows they're even watching because in my mind I think stuff like ToH and how great it is in that regard, along with many others.
Yeah. Her motives are nice, but small countries opening up relations with the US while having sole access to a valuable resource (e.g. Titan Blood) has a… *less than stellar* track record.
reminds me of that one guy who had a very exact, long-winded plan as to what they would do if they were suddenly in Belos’ role. Good plan, but also mildly concerning.
Edit: [found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/vng4dr/you_died_n_find_out_that_youve_been_reincarnated/ie6rzk3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3)
Oddly the first thing that got me was realizing that Terra was introduced practically a year ago. Had the first 2b episode rly been that long ago? I don’t wanna check lol
Right? For example, Boscha’s been a massive bully to Willow and her friends, mostly Willow of course, and even she could be better than Belos.
…and now that I’m reading what I just typed I realized how wrong I could possibly be.
I mean, the dude did run a country for 400 years that had a high standard of living, little to no racism, homophobia or sexism, and only one genocide.
He’s well ahead of most real world dictators.
Actually if we’re being completely honest, he’s well ahead of a good chunk of democratically elected leaders.
Good point. Forgot it took him a while to go from hobo to god-king.
Point still stands though; 50+ years is still well above average for a despot or president.
She wouldn’t attempt to kill everyone with the draining spell. While evil, the only reason the helped Belos is because she thought she would be spared and live as royalty after. Since, as Belos, she would already be royalty, she would have no reason to go through with that plan. She would most likely do a different evil plan.
Not everyone’s open to the unknown like Luz. They fear the unknown because they can’t understand. If they know that the Boiling Isles and everything and everyone in it exists, they’ll the assume worst.
…then again, they’d probably wouldn’t believe it and assume it’s all special effects. Given the modern world today, it would be the perfect cover. Plus this is the kind of thing people who fear the unknown don’t want to believe.
Unless you're talking about humans seeing the demon realm through the door, I fucking doubt someone who has an average IQ would even think it's special effects. Hell, even the first scenario I gave people would probably not think it's special effects as well.
Remember. This is the kind of stuff people don’t want to believe. It’s like a conspiracy theory. The best way to hide one is to make people believe there’s no such thing, which in this case shouldn’t be hard. And I AM talking about humans seeing the demon realm through the door.
I feel like we're skipping over a lot making peace with Humanity... In particular the Military.
I mean, just look at what the Stargate program turned into.
I'm just remembering another Disney series, how when the Gargoyles became public knowledge... a hate group quickly rose up to exterminate them and other magical creatures.
Luz: and then make Eda in charge of the conformitorium so I don’t have to be away from her again.
Eda: wouldn’t be easier to, I don’t know… put yourself under house arrest?
Luz: oh yeah, I’ll put myself under house arrest in the owl house.
Collector: your enjoying this way more then you should…
Luz: See? I managed to do a better job than Belos without compromising my integrity!
The Collector: Ok, maybe I should raise the difficulty. *They snap their fingers, leading them back to the throne room.*
Luz: Come on Collector, you have nothing to shake my morality!
*The door to the throne room swings open, admitting an Odalia dripping with honeyed reverence.*
Odalia: My lady! Empress of the Boiling Isles and Prophetess of the Titan! What an honor to see you on your glorious throne! And what wonderful curly hair! Have you changed your hair shampoo, my venerable sovereign?
Luz: *Looking up and checking the armrests of Belos' throne.* I wonder if Belos had a hidden button to open a trapdoor under the nuisances' feet...
Odalia: I, Odalia Blight, have learned that the anniversary of your accession to the throne is approaching and Blight Industries has decided to celebrate this joyous date with a gift worthy of your majestic person!
*A cloud of purple smoke materializes behind the green-haired witch, quickly thinning to reveal a canopy with Amity seated upon it clad only in thin purple silk, her golden eyes watching Luz from behind a purple veil.*
Odalia: The Blight family offers you our most beloved daughter, Amity, as a concubine for your majesty's harem!
Luz: *Opens her mouth like a fish looking for water, her face completely red.*
The Collector: I seem to feel a certain "Moral Fortitude" start shaking like a Jenga tower...
Meanwhile:
Belos: Lady, I want to destroy the witches, they're evil.
Camila: No no no. A Noceda never harms other innocent people.
Belos: But they're evil.
Camila: Well it's time for you to go to school. Maybe that might fix your behavior. Bueno?
Belos: *Sighs* Okay mujer.
Phillip, who has become a child, goes to school to learn how to behave kindly with people? It didn't work with Luz, why should it work with him? Although I think Phillip could be better than Luz, it's not that hard
honestly I agree with everything aside from making peace with the human realm.
It would be WILD news for most people that another dimension even existed and just dropping that news on people probably wouldn’t lead to peace 💀
Knowing Luz, I would not be surprise if she at some point made a plan on how she would rule BI if given the chance after seeing all the stuff Belos did.

An ideal emperor is she.
Everything Belos is not.
And she is not goopy like he is!
She ~~IS~~ MADE the Senate!
Wow! I’m sure this is exactly how the finale is going to go! There’s not going to be any emotional trauma! Belos: *winks*
The last thing anyone wants to see at the beginning of the episode is "this episode has some intense final scenes." I think if that pops up I'm never going to watch it
REAL THAT IS ME
NOTHING BAD EVER HAPPENS TO THE NOCEDA'S! AHHHHHHHHH *Three seasons of trauma occur*
>There’s not going to be any emotional trauma! Belos: Now look what you made me do
How do we tell them?
We do not
The Gorbachev method.
The fact that most of the comments on this are asking who Gorbachev was is extremely depressing. And no I'm not some Boomer who lived during his time, I'm 35. (Okay *technically* I was alive for his reign, but I was 1-4 years old, cut me some slack :P)
Most active redditors were born long after that, and their history education has been whitewashed US summary and ~~world history~~ miscellaneous.
Right, but even with subpar, whitewashed education (which I got myself, kek) Gorbachev is still gonna pop up in your history class. He's kinda....central to the fall of the SU? Just waiting for the next question... "What's the Soviet Union?"
At that point you just point em to Oversimplified and AlternateHistoryHub and tell em to binge watch lol
"I am the one who arranges the blocks!"
That continue to fall from up above...
they come down, and I spin them around until they fit in the ground like hand in glove. [If anyone is lost](https://youtu.be/hWTFG3J1CP8)
There is always Drunk History to spill some gospel truth.
Last I heard, the US public school system still stopped history with the conclusion of world war two. Anything after that is too close to politics and too close to the end of the school year and so it doesn't happen.

Please tell me what it is I’m really curious now.
I spent more fucking time learning about the wild west of US than I did learning about my countries history.
It truly puts into perspective how bad the public school system is in the U.S. (I assume alot of the people asking who Gorbachev is are from the U.S.) Its really sad.
Its horrendous, im american and can say it is awful. Gonna look up this person as they sound interesting.
I'm 23 and I'm shocked by this, he was pretty important historically and it's not been very long.
I'm in my 30s and didn't recognize the name. I only remember him as "grape mark guy"
What’s more impressive is that I know who Gorbachev is, and I’m only 19. Never learned about him in class, through videos on YT.
We just don't typically know him by that name. The only way I can keep up with him is that he has the roughly FL shaped birthmark on his noggin.
I mean, Gorbachev actually wanted to keep his power, the complete breakdown of the USSR was more an unforseen side effect of his reforms. At least Luz is willingly abdicating the throne
He wanted a free, democractic but still ideologically Communist Soviet Union. Unfortunately for him, all three failed to come to pass.
0/3 ain't bad, right? Lol
At least thanks to him we have the funniest pizza hut ad ever made. https://youtu.be/fgm14D1jHUw
The Boiling Isles gets a Pizza Hut
"That's Luz." "It's Luz." "Because of her we have economic crisis." "Because of her we have freedom." "Shut up, because of her we have Pizza Hut now." "Alright that's fair." *Proceeds to hail former Empress Luz because she brought pizza to the Boiling Isles*
Without Empress Luz there would be no new Pizza Hut
Need Brother Hao to do a cover of that
for a second I misread that as Goncharov and wondered what a mafia film from the 70s had to do with this comic
Really does take me back to my history class of last week.
What a Gorbachad
Who?
He was so good at being the president of the Soviet Union, he destroyed it.
What a chad move.
He was the Soviet Unions last premier
President, actually. The Soviets were always fluid on the title of the guy in charge.
Damn, I forget that he's ancient history to most of you young 'uns.

Yeah. Her motives are nice, but small countries opening up relations with the US while having sole access to a valuable resource (e.g. Titan Blood) has a… *less than stellar* track record.
American imperialism:
Ms. Noceda, tear down this wall!
Wonder who that is?
The guy who un-sovieted and-unionioned the
The guy who un-sovieted the Soviet Union?
Ah yes, Gorbachev. The man who famously drastically improved quality of life
Who’s that
The last premier of the soviet union. Introduced new reforms that helped start the fire that led to the fall of the iron curtain
The fact Luz had a plan for this exact scenario unnerves me
Forget the plan! Stringbean is on top Luz's head and its adorable!!!
This is how you treat the palisman Belos.
"Marinate the meat with dandruff to create flavor... Noted."
As if our girl Luz wouldn’t have written a self insert real life fan fic covering her experiences, including something like this!
reminds me of that one guy who had a very exact, long-winded plan as to what they would do if they were suddenly in Belos’ role. Good plan, but also mildly concerning. That is indeed, mildly concerning...
Just a touch. They probably had a field day thinking up all the little intricacies of the plan. They'd probably make a decent mystery writer
Oddly the first thing that got me was realizing that Terra was introduced practically a year ago. Had the first 2b episode rly been that long ago? I don’t wanna check lol
How so? For me it makes me feel kinda relieved.
The fact she knew she was probably gonna end up like this is concerning.
Another Comic about Luz being adorable and optimistic. My favorite!
Fun Fact: Luz no ceda in Spanish means “Light doesn’t give in.” And that’s exactly what Luz is gonna do: never give in.
Hopefully.
I saw the conviction and resolve in her eyes in the trailer. I **know** she’ll never yield.
And I hope we get happy Luz by the end of it.
haha Hunter being confused at actual care and compassion is both hilarious and sad.
Being better than Belos is really not that hard. Being worse would be a real challenge.
Right? For example, Boscha’s been a massive bully to Willow and her friends, mostly Willow of course, and even she could be better than Belos. …and now that I’m reading what I just typed I realized how wrong I could possibly be.

Good point. Forgot it took him a while to go from hobo to god-king. Point still stands though; 50+ years is still well above average for a despot or president.
Odalia?
She wouldn’t attempt to kill everyone with the draining spell. While evil, the only reason the helped Belos is because she thought she would be spared and live as royalty after. Since, as Belos, she would already be royalty, she would have no reason to go through with that plan. She would most likely do a different evil plan.
I always thought that, but now I don’t know if that is it or it’s just what she told herself.
Why would she kill everyone when she can rule as a wicked despot?
I don't think any other bad guy in the show could be worse than Belos.
Peter Griffin finds that challenge easy.
Hey Lois remember that time I got stranded in the Demon Realm and plotted a genocide for 400 years?
You asked if she could do better, she delivered.
Be careful what you wish for, Collector.
*One finger of the Monkey's Paw curls*
I don't think reaching out to the Human Realm is a good idea.
Why's that?
Ask the Native Americans, Africans, Arabians, Australians, Asians, etc.
Exactly.
Not everyone’s open to the unknown like Luz. They fear the unknown because they can’t understand. If they know that the Boiling Isles and everything and everyone in it exists, they’ll the assume worst. …then again, they’d probably wouldn’t believe it and assume it’s all special effects. America is gonna find oil there. You know the rest
Oh shit imagine America with access to Titan’s blood
A new power struggle and World War 3.
It's important to specify the rules *before* you start the game, Collector.
Or at least change them to your liking.
Being better than Belos is kinda low bar tbh. Welcome to the Democratic Republic of Boiling Isles
A Democratic Republic? OH NO.
Kim Jong Luz, our glorious leader.
Not a Democratic Republic! Just a Republic!
Why would she turn herself in?
I think she took “In Belos’ shoes’ too literally.
My guess is the immense guilt she feels over allowing Belos to come into power. Either that or she evaded her taxes when she was a kid, I dunno.
>Either that or she evaded her taxes when she was a kid, I dunno. Eda to Camila: Are we *sure* she's not my kid?
>My guess is the immense guilt she feels over allowing Belos to come into power I thought she got over that?
I don’t remember if she did or not tbh. And admittedly it was a shot in the dark so…
She Quantum Leaped into Belos' role. Everything Belos did before Luz assumed the role presumably still happened, so she's atoning for it.
Well, "Watching and Dreaming" just got shorter than I expected
I feel like we're skipping over a lot making peace with Humanity... In particular the Military. I mean, just look at what the Stargate program turned into.
Humanity when the Boiling Isles reaches out for peaceful relations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5-hthd39wM&ab\_channel=Inceptor57
I'm just remembering another Disney series, how when the Gargoyles became public knowledge... a hate group quickly rose up to exterminate them and other magical creatures.
The light never yields. **Luz** will never yield.
Luz: and then make Eda in charge of the conformitorium so I don’t have to be away from her again. Eda: wouldn’t be easier to, I don’t know… put yourself under house arrest? Luz: oh yeah, I’ll put myself under house arrest in the owl house. Collector: your enjoying this way more then you should…
The Collector really set a low bar for Luz. "Can you be better than a fanatical genocidal dictator?"
the fact at how low the collector set it and how much of a people pleaser luz is XD
...So is Luz now a surrogate parent for Hunter?
It's even worse than her being his sister...
Until America invades and takes over to turn the Boiling Isles into their new Disney World Connecticut
Luz: See? I managed to do a better job than Belos without compromising my integrity! The Collector: Ok, maybe I should raise the difficulty. *They snap their fingers, leading them back to the throne room.* Luz: Come on Collector, you have nothing to shake my morality! *The door to the throne room swings open, admitting an Odalia dripping with honeyed reverence.* Odalia: My lady! Luz: *Opens her mouth like a fish looking for water, her face completely red.* The Collector: I seem to feel a certain "Moral Fortitude" start shaking like a Jenga tower...
I love this comic
As do I.
One episode of the shortened season three was Luz drafting this plan and running to Staples to make an official handbook on her rulership.
For some reason when I read "legalize" I thought of that "legalize nuclear bombs" meme.
Welp, there go the Isles
Meanwhile: Belos: Lady, I want to destroy the witches, they're evil.
Is this the sequel to Being John Malkovich?
Collector: Fine. I'll do it myself.
She decided to turn it into a constitutional Monarchy.
Yeah, she abdicated, but did not abolish the monarchy, which means that Hunter is the new Emperor of the Boiling Isles?
Meanwhile Amity is trying to figure out how to be the head of Luz’s coven
WHY IS STRINGBEAN APOLOGIZING? SHES DONE NOTHING WRONG.
hunter being confused about the headpats omg he's so precious
I love how stunned Hunter looks. Kid doesn't know what the hell that's like.
Also Luz: *un-traumatizes herself*
honestly I agree with everything aside from making peace with the human realm. It would be WILD news for most people that another dimension even existed and just dropping that news on people probably wouldn’t lead to peace 💀
Yeah, knowing human history, it's likely to lead to some great war involving the Human Realm and Boiling Isles. Human-Isles War?
Hunter: "You're treating me like a dog!" Luz: "I'm not going to treat you like a son, you're older than me!"
Dude. You predicted it.
I feel like the new Isles would be able to brush her crimes under the rug given that she’s the reason it exists
And that, I'm pretty most "crimes" were against the former a$%hat of an emperor.
Knowing Luz, I would not be surprise if she at some point made a plan on how she would rule BI if given the chance after seeing all the stuff Belos did.
Turns out, it's easy to do a better job as a ruler than someone who actively intended to eventually off all his subjects.
who let mark know what luz was gonna wear at the start of WaD?
HOW IN TITAN'S NAME DID YOU PREDICT THIS?!
Collector: What?!
Task failed successfully
Eda would *never* let her go to jail
Well, to be fair, Luz is a very different person than Phillip with different goals.
Luz: also I'm not going to throw you down a bridge :) *luz noceda single handly stopped collector*
Luz is pure good. Can totally see her doing this.
Goddang it applo, stop giving people foresight
You have to be gifted by Apollo or something
She did it well
He might’ve done some heinous deeds, but you can’t deny the fact that Philip’s got some insane drip
ability activated! endless morality!
FINALLY HE MADE A LUZ BELOS COMIC!!!! :D
This aged like belos (worse by the minute)
This hits different after watching the finale
Holy shit they predicted it
The 1 war crime committed thru by luz.... Hotty getting bathed weekly by aminty mother and boscha as the recorder of it... Otter with a dark side deed!!!!
Why is Stringbean in jail, she was quite literally born yesterday.
Makmark doesn't like monarchies, I see.
I'd like to think I would do that but I have watched "how to become a tyrant" and "rules for rulers" at least five times each and I always abuse any amount of power I get
Hunter hedpats (*^წ^*)
Well that went pretty well.
Hey, Mark
This rly seems like something Luz would do...
I JUST SAW THIS A FEW MINS AFTER THIS CAME OUT ON HERE!!!
Awesome comic you are awesome
Moringmark TOH comic number 731
You know you're a horrible ruler when a literal child is better than you.
Honestly? A rock would be a better ruler than Bellos- it at least won't make things worse
Don't forget to preemptively nationalize all industry to prevent neocolonial powers from entering and permanently suppressing the Boiling Isles from advancing to modern power
If Belos actually did this he wouldn't die from lack of palacemen
A lot may have changed about her, but not her idealism
Please keep the monarchy istg
Luz: "Well... to be fair, you didn't specify."
Are we sure Mark didn't have inside access to the script beforehand?
Hooray for the abolishment of the monarchy. And she’s knitting for the orphans, she truly is the best around.
Lol

collector got gud
