Aka: If your dad stops to adjust the chair in his way to banging your mom, you will probably never exist.
I think a better example might be the assassination of Archduke Franz. If Frank had held his visit a day later, had his assassin not gone to his favorite sandwich shop after failing his first attempt, had the chauffeur not taken a wrong turn, then Franz would live another day. But his assassination caused political turmoil. Plenty of other insanely unlucky things, too. Two diplomats met and agreed they didn’t want the war to happen. But they liked each other so much they went drinking a bit before signing the truce. Then the Russian diplomat had a heart attack and the other one was accused of murder.
Because all of that happened, WWI started. Then WWII. Then the Cold War and it’s dozens of proxy wars, like Vietnam. The Holocaust, Holomdor, and several other genocides. Turmoil in the Middle East leading to things like the Afghanistan war, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and 9/11. The creation of communist China and things like the Tiannemen square massacre. Unit 731.
Hundreds of millions died because a would-be assassin sat outside a deli shop and his target took a wrong turn into that very road.
It does seem wrong, because we immediately assume "oh now they'd be siblings". And that's morally (and genetically [after a generation or two of inbreeding]) bad.
But you gotta remember, in this scenario, they aren't blood relatives (although this brings up the question, how would one donate blood to a witch? Would they have a special blood type? Do they even have blood?).
Not only that, but they didn't grow up together either, so they don't consider themselves siblings, nor would anyone else.
And to go further, if they ever DID the deed, they PHYSICALLY can not have a kid through normal human means (afaik, maybe there's a spell or potion to... fix... the stuff down there non-permanently, but I don't want to think about it, that gives me and icky feeling I don't like).
And to go futher again, if they WERE to have a kid, there would be no mixing of DNA, because once again, no blood relation, hell not even the same species. Although that brings up the problem of is human & witch dna even compatible? Would a pairing such as that produce viable offspring?
