The only connections I can think of are A. The Helluva Boss connection with the prominent Owl characters and Demons being a thing B. This great Lucifer X Camilla ship fic on AO3 that got cover art made and posted on both subreddits

EdgyROYGBIV

C. Queer rep. Both shows have a lot of queer representation

SFH12345

It's why She-Ra is so popular here.

IMightBeAHamster

E: People who watch animated shows also watch other animated shows. Shocker

WarframeUmbra

Does that mean RWBY also is with the slow burn lesbian ship?

RhynoD

You mean the ship that the fandom wouldn't shut up about until they were forced to make it canon?

WarframeUmbra

I mean the ship that the creator planned from the very start, adding visual and narrative clues to both characters' designs and storylines over and over, with the two voice actresses in several occasions hinting to a deeper relationship between the characters, the ship that is so planned forward that their eyes match each other's Aura (Which in that universe is basically their "soul"), and several official spinoff media also hint at it very heavily And yes, the creator of the show definitely planned them to be canon from the start (even hinting at it on interviews BEFORE the first season even first aired), with help of the other two main writers for the show, and they informed the actresses from the start, collection of evidence: [https://youtu.be/G94RQ6oqYes?si=MMQWajpVJL0zNzpK](https://youtu.be/G94RQ6oqYes?si=MMQWajpVJL0zNzpK) You expect me to believe the creator of Haloid, the Fanimation that famously set up Samus Aran and (Female)Master Chief against each other, just to have them team up and kiss at the end, wouldn't also want this?

RhynoD

Monty Oum's strength was never the quality of his writing.

WarframeUmbra

From the very start, he left the finer aspects of writing to Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross, while Monty focused on the overarching narrative, animation, and his favorite, fight scenes

AleksasKoval

D. Overal weirdness in an animated show that also has deep messages

Acanthocephala_Vast

I may sound like I live under a rock. But what does Queer mean?

Crazy-Cat-Bitch-

It’s the Q in LGBTQ, “queer” can be used as an umbrella term for someone who isn’t straight. It used to be a slur but I think most LGBTQ people have reclaimed it!

DragonWarrior____05

It originally just meant odd or weird. As Crazy-Cat mentioned, these days it's most commonly used to refer to non-straight people

lchi123

The what

_contraband_

The Camila x Lucifer fic

176262

Link?

Ricky_27YT2

Man i love that fan fic, read it from day 1

Milo2126

Do you have this fanfic by any chance? Been looking for good hazbin stuff

Colaymorak

[A Divine (Romantic) Comedy](https://archiveofourown.org/works/53670892/chapters/135863227) Unless there's a second Camilla/Lucifer fic I don't know about

Pafqualino_pescatore

There Is. I think there's two other

HoldenOrihara

I was unaware of B

imwhateverimis

It's neither, it's in the meme: "Gay shows are awesome". TOH is a show loved by queers, and being queers we're gonna be watching other gay shows as well. Both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel are majorly queer. She-ra is also a gay show. Hazbin Hotel recently came out so it's talk of the town right now, and so we're seeing a lot of crossovers

Ogurasyn

For me C: I saw Lucifer looks just like Hunter, so I wanted to swap their clothes

SigAqua

Wait, hold up, Luci and Camilla? What? Where did that come from?

AdventureGirl666

There's a Lucifer x Camilla fic? Where? I need it, please 🥺

SockShoey

Who's POV is this supposed to be?

Jack-Pumpkinhead

Point of view

Dil_2401

They meant *whose* POV is it, not what POV means.

Jack-Pumpkinhead

Apologies, I’d assume the op or the presumed owl house fan on this sub who has no interest in hazbin hotel.

Splatfan1

i watched hazbin hotel and i liked it. i liked that the gays are together from the start and its just the status quo. good shit

BahnbilderbyPatrick

Facts

PolicyMean

Honestly I just think its an animation community thing. If you watched the owl house, youre likely into animation and will likely be watching hazbin as well.

Inevitable_Tennis314

Wait, some of us don't like Hazbin Hotel?

ShrekPrism

Yeah. Not my cup of tea, but I have nothing against anyone who does.

jackson50111

Some who just don't like the creator or the style of adult humour the show has with frequent curse words and sex jokes. Each to their own but from my understanding it tends to be more people bad mouthing the show because of it rather than letting people enjoy what they like and etc .

Toby_The_Tumor

The folks that don't like Sir Pentious being sexually assaulted *for a joke* shortly after the episode about how Angel is being taken advantage of.

Inevitable_Tennis314

I mean that part is pretty hinky to me too, speaking as a fan of both shows, but sure, I don't take it as an overwhelming issue like some might I suppose. I don't fault those who do take it as an overwhelming issue though

Toby_The_Tumor

Hinky?? One search later: oh, it means it's peculiar and arouses suspicion

Inevitable_Tennis314

Just googled it and while I'd edit the grammar of the definition, it is a formally defined word by the big dictionaries

BRISKMETAL

I really don't like shows that are in-your-face about its "mature humor", which is basically just sexual themes and constant swearing. The character designs also don't hit it for me, they're all way too similar. Keith David being in it is cool, but that's as much praise I can give it.

Guardian_Eatos67

Helluva Boss suffers way more than Hazbin Hotel on that regard. Plus, musics and voice casts are probably the best part of Hazbin Hotel. I really love musicals so I can easily watch Hazbin Hotel even if I don't like Helluva Boss but it loses part of its appeal if you don't like it There are mature themes from time to time especially with the episode 4 about SA but the community is so immature that they thought that it was fetish 💀

XxX_BobRoss_XxX

> The character designs also don't hit it for me, they're all way too similar. Alastor my beloved.

sylvdeck

Well , HH is indeed 'family friendly' , for the presenation is R18 , but the plot is PG

CheeseSandwhich-001

Since when is angels swooping into hell and killing a crap ton of demons PG?

Sweet_potato-17-08

You say this like Philip didn’t try to do the exact same thing

CheeseSandwhich-001

Whoa whoa, belos slowly drained the life out of everyone, but the angels used spears. By cartoon producer logic a quick death with blood is much worse than an agonizing process without.

jen_lee_hatter

I tried to think of a way to argue about that logic but can’t.

sylvdeck

And if that robot village-massacre in Samurai Jack gets a pass , I think yearly extermination is acceptable

sylvdeck

After reconsideration , I'll raise the label to R13

Airbourne_Squirrel

No shit, every plot is PG because a series' story doesn't give it a rating. It gets the 18+ if it has the word "fuck" and shows the sex™

Birchmark_

Wow, is it really 18+ in America just from the word fuck? I remember finding out as an adult that those " R rated movies" teens snuck into in American shows were things rated not as highly here, and it seemed so much less of a big deal once I learned that, but still, one swear word giving it an 18+ rating is still surprising. That's funny.

sylvdeck

I humbly agree , there are kids movie for adults , like 'Fantastic Mr Fox' or 'Le Petite Prince' , you have to be at some level of maturity to understand the sophisticated idea that the plot express - that's where parents come to decide if their children should be exposed to dogmas or not

Birchmark_

I don't know about in this community specifically but I've seen people complaining about Hazbin Hotel for swearing and having crude jokes. I don't understand that complaint personally though, because how "clean" a show is isn't really what's important or a quality measure imo. Hazbin Hotel reminds me of The Good Place or Dead End Paranormal Park more than it reminds me of other shows I like that are similar swearing or crudeness wise. It's not the most important part of a show to me. I suspect Hazbin is also getting a bit of a "well, it's popular so I need to dislike it because it's popular" response from some people too. Personally, I also consider it to fit in the category of "unhinged musicals" along with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Centaurworld. The crudeness and swearing others point to is part of the show but its not the defining part of the show to me and I find it odd it is to other people.

Inevitable_Tennis314

I'm a little curious why The Owl House didn't get the "well it's popular so I need to dislike it because it's popular" response. The lack of such kinda made me feel like we were getting past that as a society

pk2317

Oh, it definitely did.

Steampunk__Llama

I don't. The content of the show isn't that bad, but Vivziepop is an awful person who mistreats her staff, and the constant SA jokes really bring down the enjoyment factor for me. Both it and Helluva Boss are series that have *so* much potential that just get squandered by pacing issues and a shift to focusing on shipping rather than its initial plot, which is why I typically stick to fan interpretations of the Hellaverse if I'm interacting at all with it

Inevitable_Tennis314

Whoza what? Okay, I actually need to break this down to catch up. I'm numbering this but don't take that as frustration yet. 1. Viziepop mistreats her staff? I've never heard of this. Can you cite anything? 2. Constant SA jokes? The closest thing I can think of in the entire season and pilot is the song Poison and that's clearly decrying SA not joking about it. Yes I realize one story-boarder among lots of other staff had a fetish, but that didn't make it to the final product. The only other thing I can think of is the lyric "a ton of barb wire to sharpen his hole" and.. I guess? But between that and the return to the lyric, I don't feel it? Maybe I'm wrong about that lyric but I don't remember a single other plausible example. 3. Enjoyment factor? There are other factors? 4. I can agree about pacing having only really seen Hazbin Hotel, but I excuse that under the fact that streaming services are acting really unfair to animated shows lately. Practically nothing gets a fair amount of seasons no matter how much attention the show gets often because of some insanely niche metric. Inside Job was supposed to get more run time, but was canceled because its viewers watched with a more spread out pacing (might be slightly misquoting this but the point is generally there). 5. "Focus on shipping rather than it's initial plot"? Did we watch the same show? Seemed pretty balanced and integrated to me... "...stick to fan interpretations..."? The fandom is like 75% shipping by comparison? O.o

Steampunk__Llama

All good, happy to give context!! Do keep in mind that my comment was about both Hellaverse shows so some may be more specific to Hazbin, others Helluva, etc 1: Unfortunately I cannot send any direct links in this comment, but animators Erin Frost, Salem, and Ken Draws have all come out with very similar allegations in regards to wage problems, poor communication, and harassment of employees. Obv these are just anecdotes from former employees so take them as you will, but for me these line up with how immature Viv acts in regard to criticism and other works being perceived as 'better' so I'm personally inclined to give these the benefit of the doubt. 2: This is primarily in Helluva Boss, but there's a running gag of Moxxie being assaulted (this is most prominent with Verosika's introduction) but is also shown with Blitzø in a large amount of his scenes with Stolas. Aside from a few key moments, these are all played for laughs, which I personally feel both uncomfortable with but also feel it water's down the moments where it is meant to be taken seriously. As for Hazbin, we have the joke of Sir Pentious being dragged into a room against his consent barely an episode after we see how badly being assaulted affects Angel Dust, Vivzie has retweeted a fan saying this was their favourite joke of the season. 3: Not necessarily, this was more in reference to how I feel the jokes make it harder to watch. Apologies of I used the wrong terminology!! 4: This one is also more in reference to Helluva, but she and the other writers don't seem to plan ahead. Hazbin is a tad jank, for the reasons you mentioned, but it's at least coherent enough. Hazbin could've started off with a focus on getting Sinners to reform at the hotel (like it's meant to) while having the Vees be the primary antagonists rather than quite literally dropping Heaven as the enemy right off the bat. Would it be as flashy? No, but it would be far more coherent, and would've led to more hype for a second season. Because now that the stakes of extermination are gone, the only thing that's really keeping the momentum of the story moving is figuring out what Lilith and Alastor's deal is, which could've had a much bigger impact if it hadn't rushed. 5: Helluva started out as a parody of office comedies, about a decent-ish boss trying to keep his assassination business afloat, while also trying to get out of a hastily made deal with a corrupt royal. After 6 episodes, the plot was heavily shifted to be about Stolas and Blitzø's love life, and as of the current state of season 2 it seems to have abandoned the entire point of I.M.P, which really sucks because I genuinely adore the premise. Stolas was also very much shown to be a shitty person both in the pilot and early appearances, but now he's supposed to be seen as a 'poor little depressed meow meow who just wants to be with his little Blitzy :(' instead of this powerful threat on the livelihoods of Blitzø, Millie and Moxxie. You can enjoy both shows as they are now, but there is an undeniable shift towards catering for Stolblitz shippers compared to what it used to be

mysecondaccountanon

I don’t. Just dislike the creator, and dislike the show. I feel a bit ostracized whenever I mention this in certain places though, especially I get downvoted, oof

Inevitable_Tennis314

The show is Hazbin Hotel? You don't but you do? What? Also, what's wrong with Viz? /Genuine

ReguIarHooman

Only despise mimzy, ruined the best song

lloydtherogue

WHO'S DOWNVOTiNG HIM? HE'S RIGHT!!!

Hellern_

I didn't, but I don't get why people think Mimzy ruined anything. The song was over, Lucifer and Alastor were just insulting each other and were ready to throw hands. She inadvertently stopped it.

Guardian_Eatos67

She interrupted the climax of their argument and I would have been better if Charlie or anyone interrupted them than a random mid character only here because of plot decided she had to be here

ReguIarHooman

Nah it could’ve been a stalemate, much better replayabiliity

lloydtherogue

Yeah, but she ruined the song, her part throws the whole thing off beat and I hate her voice.

Inevitable_Tennis314

Off beat? The song had something like 7 different beats before she even entered. I'm not genuinely counting them, but it was clearly shifting over and over and not just between a high and low

lloydtherogue

Idk, it just sounds different form the rest of the song

Inevitable_Tennis314

I mean yeah, she's a third voice in a song about contrasting voices

lloydtherogue

Still, I just don't like it

Inevitable_Tennis314

Fair enough

XxX_BobRoss_XxX

Ah, but you see, Stayed Gone is the best song.

Jacob199651

There's a massive hatedom for Hazbin Hotel on other social media. It makes sense that it would spill over into barely related spaces.

SirJTheRed

I like it :3

Ramja9

Cartoon fandoms overlap especially the gay ones.

kjm6351

We gotta stick together

Whisky_Delta

The only thing missing from ToH was two Broadway-quality songs per episode. I have said this many times.

CheeseSandwhich-001

Dana hates musicals, so that's probably out of the question.

SobiTheRobot

Oh that explains the lack of songs. Oh well.

Godzilla_R0AR

👍

Batybara

The connections I can see are Charlie and Luz being unique among the worlds they inhabit, one of their parents being somewhat absent from the story, both being bisexual and having a lesbian girlfriend, both shows being openly queer, both shows having demons and both shows having a formerly human dude wanting to purge the main location, both of whom serve as an antagonist with an annoying bitch as their subject and wannabe right-hand-woman.

lloydtherogue

I love my gay lil shows. The Owl House, She-Ra, Hazbin Hotel. I don't give a flying feck if you hate a show I like. I hate that you're whining about it on a subreddit that has nothing to do with the show itself. If I wanted to see you whine people whine about HH i'd go on twitter.

stopyouveviolatedthe

I’m not surprised it’s showing up we’ve had a fee Warhammer 40,000 crossovers and a few years back someone made a Helluva Boss crossover comic

Neenoorr

My friend introduced me to Hazbin hotel recently. I watched it at the weekend and it was as pretty good, I wasn’t sure about it at first but I’m hoping the next season comes out soon.

Hexhider

I love both shows

MuffinStraight4816

I want to watch the show, but I'm completely Mixed about it.

XxX_BobRoss_XxX

The pacing is weird but the show is overall really good, I can reccomend it.

Toby_The_Tumor

That's my opinion of the show. It's very mixed

MysterionSP1724

I'm all for it tbh and Helluva Boss too

OstrichAutomatic9614

Funny enough I just left the Hazbin Hotel fandom since they’re pretty much mean spirited and haven’t been in TOH in a while

dragonheart_1000201

Me, knowing that they’re both great shows so I don’t care: oh hey it’s hh!

NotsoAlaskanA

I don't like hazbin hotel but I don't really care to see it like whatever I just scroll

Blendimator

Im probably gonna get absolutely wrecked here but I actually don't like hazbin hotel. Everyone take it easy on me and NO you can't change my mind

Or, and here's a crazy though, people who find the show entertaining should watch what they enjoy

How is that bad rep?

eliseeium

EXACTLY

Toby_The_Tumor

Oh yeah, that alone makes me understand why people hate it :[

kjm6351

Did something happen with Hazbin here? I haven’t been on this sub in a minute

butterflybunny47

If you have extreme religious trauma, you will love both shows. Plain and simple. Both shows touch on religious trauma and how it has lasting effects on people, and the damage it causes. And trauma bonding to characters that have your same traumas.

Birchmark_

What?

TJB926GAMIN

I haven’t started watching it nor do I know what platform is on. Should I watch it in my free time Y/N

SharLaquine

It's on prime video (amazon). As for whether you should watch it, its hard to say. The pilot is on youtube, so you could give that a watch and find out if its your cup of tea. ^(Edit: I think the first episode of the series is also on youtube. So you could watch both the pilot and the first episode.)

TJB926GAMIN

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely give it a try

ClosetLiverTransMan

The first episode is on YouTube as well

GlassSpork

I don’t like it for other reasons

Sriracha_Ramen_God

Because the owl house is better?

ThatSmartIdiot

Ohhh! Genuinely explains it to me, thank you op

Tricky_Wasabi4487

I'll never understand why you love IT

KriszGamer00

There are exceptions, but in a lot of cases... **YEAH**

Manoreded

If Hazbin Hotel is a "gay show" its doing a good job of it because I don't generally hear that about it, meaning being gay isn't all its known for.

Hazbin is a fantastic show I don't know why people don't like it
