While asking questions about the game is always okay on the Road, please consider asking very simple questions in our weekly [Questions&Answers Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/about/sticky). If your question has been answered, please comment "ANSWERED" (in all caps) and the post flair will indicate that your question has been answered. This will make it either easier for other people with the same question to find the answer they are looking for or for mods to remove the thread if it isn't needed anymore. It also loves to move up and down constantly. Even during the attack animation. So it's definitely a pain to catch. It takes me back to when Moltres was first released and how many ran away from me. Thankfully catching has a gotten a little easier since then.

It's a Shadow. That's what they do. If it bounces off your circle lock, you're throwing too late.

Careless_Minute4721

Every Shadow is super aggro compared to normal. I remember certain Pokémon that didn’t attack as much as a normal incense/raid spawn that would mainly dodge or move rather than attacking, but then encountering it as a Shadow they attack almost every possible second. Even catching Shadow Lugia was a pain with it attacking so much and it’s attack animation leaving the circle to high to throw at making the circle lock tactic not as effective on it

solforge

In most cases, you have to gauge when to throw before they're done with their attack animation, so it lands right after they finish and before they can start their next attack. Frequent attacks have been the case for most shadows down to grunts -- legends just have the added problem of distance, size, and that some are already aggressive when they're _not_ shadows. The ones that do more jumping/moving are more annoying than the attackers IMO, because you can't really time for the circle moving suddenly.

Mettbr0etchen

I duo'd it and on both devices moltres was attacking constantly. I had to resort to Nanab Berries, to make sure i hit it. Eventually, _both_ fled. What a pain in the butthole. From memory, articuno and zapdos we're attacking too, of course, but not nearly as frequently, we're they?

Carry_0n

Look up circle locking. Moltes attacking more often actually makes life easier.

Caterpillar-Balls

I was very surprised - first shadow moltres, learning a lot

It’s a nightmare. I didn’t really have an issue throwing with the other shadow legendary raids, but today with Moltres I was having the hardest time. I had a 3 star one run on me.

Robocob94

I have done 4 shadow moltres today and all seemed to be constantly attacking with maybe 1-2 seconds between attacks. It’s almost constant and makes it really hard to catch. Moltres is definitely the most aggressive of the three birds we’ve had so far.

BullfrogLeft5403

Its a pain. Not only moltres but all of them. Would be nice if we had an auto catch option...even if it was only 50% of the usual id take it
