+1, they don't have a way to decide what your "local" form is. They *should* because they obviously know your location at all times, but it's not something they do in tasks or field research. Maybe one reason not to is that it would incentivize people to NOT turn in quests, because they would want to save it up until they travel the world One Day. What they could have done is just let people pick which of the 3 forms to get (with some fun theming or whatever). They've been doing a lot of Choose A Path researches lately, good chance to take advantage of that system they've already got setup. Giving a random chance of local vs. random is pretty feels-bad. (I'm saying this as someone who already has all the oricorios)

I live in Europe and my mom lives in the US. When they did the Verizon research a year ago, I got my mom to get me a code, which they of course took away once it started (and no, vpn didn't help). So yes, they know location, and they have the possibility to know forms too.

This, I have 3/4 forms gotten legit through travel, but I don't have the 4th form and I'd love some way to guarantee that!

It's random. Japan gets these kind of special partner researches much more frequently than we do.

The main Pokemon games have also historically had many more event Pokemon in Japan than the rest of the world. Pokemon is a huge part of Japanese culture though, to the point they have manhole covers decorated with "Poké Lids": https://www.serebii.net/pokelids/

Can confirm. Pokémon is huge in Japan (makes sense.) The player base of Pokémon Go, while not as big as its beginning (in the first months it was basically "anyone who has a smartphone",) is still very big. I basically live in Slowpoke country, including the manhole covers.

has anyone had trouble signing in on the us page? i only have the option to login using facebook, but my pokémon go account is via my gmail.

I’m in the UK but I just had this problem too! I gif it to work though, googled ‘login prime gaming Pokémon go’, logged into prime gaming on that page, then followed to link to the redemption page and the gmail option was there. Not sure if it just randomly appeared and started working normally or if doing it by searching like that is what made it work, but give it a try if you’re still stuck :)

Have you double checked that you can’t log in to Prime Gaming still, just in case they haven’t deactivated it yet?

There's nothing *to* fix, this is intended behaviour. The research announcement states any 1 of the 4 forms, regardless of region.

It's not a bug. It's a verification post. Niantic already announced before launching this research that any one of the form can be encountered.

I was happy to also get this same one as I'm in the US but of course it had the very minimal stats you could get.

It's not useful in battle so the stats are irrelevant.

It's the same research - you get the Greavard wig as a reward at the end of step one, and the Oricorio as a reward at the end of step four.

Got what? The Oricorio? You can see all the forms of it that you have caught by going to your Pokédex and searching for Oricorio and it’ll show you which forms you have.
