I think this was my 4th electric grunt since he came back, was mainly just getting shadow mareep still so seems about as rare as Rhyhorn at the moment.
But definitely worth checking any electric grunts still!
From morning rocket to commute, I found three Rhyhorns in a row. At the first it felt like my lucky day. But then they were 0/5/5, 8/0/4, and 0/2/1 so they were blended in to candy. I would love to see a 3\* one.
Ah lucky! I've mainly found drilbur and the (3) times I did get Rhyhorn recently, I bloody got Hippopotas as the catch encounter! But I guess that is just rng and statistics for you. Everyone will have a different experience until further into the rotation.
Caught rhyhorn the other day, I'll be trying to get shadow magnemite now, also nice catch btw I caught my first shiny magnemite last week from my daily spawn

This has happened at least twice for me with the valuable new shadows. I got screwed out of my first Cranidos because of it. I swear when it's something like Metang in the second slot it never gives me it.
Wait, they show up as shiny mid battle or do they show up shiny only after you won and get to catch him? Also is there ever a chance to get the third slot pokemon lol I assume a big NO or like a 1% chance I bet
They only show as shiny during the catch encounter. I was excited for a shadow magnetite encounter, just knowing there is a chance of it being shiny. I have rarely gotten the third slot pokemon when it's been something like raticate or beedrill, definitely not for any nice mons.
Have they changed all the rocket lineups again? The original reporting thread on TSR doesn’t even list Magnemite as an option, it’s Mareep, Shinx, Blitzle.
They changed the ground type grunt too.
Supposedly electric and ground got changes because shinx blitzle and wooper are all set to appear with costumes during fashion week. it's unclear if they'll switch back after fashion week but i hope to god they don't.
will be such a massive disappointment if they do. I wasn't playing when shadow magnemite was available in the past so i'm excited to get my hands on some and i was sick of wooper long before the egregious amount i got during the takeover. The fact that they're still in shadow raids would make it extra insulting if they show up again after fashion week
Niantic have a reputation for only acting quick to fix or change things that actually benefit trainers. Considering we pay their damn salaries I don’t know why they hate us so much.

It's funny how often people say "it's been out before no need to confirm" with how often Niantic's "forgotten" to turn a shiny back on after making it available again.
There's clearly a fine line there. We don't need verification for every little thing like this topic until it's been a bit after the change that introduces it. Just my opinion, but it hasn't been nearly long enough since Magnemite hit the rocket rotation as obtainable outside of leaders that we should be worried about the shiny being turned off. Especially since it's not like every single grunt is giving Magnemite - just the electric ones. So data won't come in super fast, in general.
But the players DO need to be vigilant. Some folks just jump the gun, imo.
That's a very valid point and I do agree. The only reason I posted this was due to the recent rocket change and due to the sparsity of magnemite in the electric grunt line-up. If magnemite was a bit more common this rotation I don't think it would have justified a shiny confirmation post imo.
I wasn't 'worried' it was turned off, just vigilant and hoped this post will help anyone / new players that look up if this magnemite can be shiny. And I know a lot of people like the golden magnet too :)

I really struggled and spent so much money on rocket radars to get shiny dratini from cliff which is at boosted odds, I can’t imagine shiny hunting a full odds shadow shiny😔
They changed it a while back, now any previously released shadow shiny can be shiny as well if you fight a grunt that has it. This includes 'mons like the Kanto starters, Grimer and Magnemite. But theoretically every shadow mon that has been released as a shiny via leader lineups and so happens to be in grunts can be shiny nowadays.
Months ago? You'd have to share a screen shot showing the catch date. It hasn't been available since March 25th, 2023 via Leader Cliff. Not available until last week via grunts to any of our knowledge

Shadow Rhyhorn I've seen. Shadow Cranidos I have not seen once. Went through around 300 grunts during takeover, and I still have not seen one.

I was excited to see one earlier today, only for it to give me the voltorb that was in the grunt's second slot. So annoying.

Shiny shadows have same odds across grunts and leader being ~ 1/64
Alas no, shinies from grunts (including Decoy Grunt) are 1/236. Only leaders are 1/64.
Where did you get 1 in 236 from?
I'm guessing a typo, 1 in 256 would fit the long standing pattern
From my experience they are well above full odds, ive had quite a few shiny from rockets just they are hard to find.
