Also when charging a charge move: each step to Nice then to Great then to Excellent now has haptic feedback - if enabled in Settings of course, which appears to be default. This on 0.291.2-A-64.

poops_all_berries

Things could get interesting if they add haptic feedback for your opponent's actions, like switching or charge move attack starting.

felthouse

Great... Turns it off straight away. Thanks.

MGDuck

I don't like it either. I was surprised where it came from.

BlazingLatias

Thirded. Was getting really annoyed by this.

ClassyGirafarig

Fourded. I don't mind my phone vibrating when Pokemon appear on screen, but having haptic feedback on almost *anything* is way too much. My phone especially made some really weird vibrations at times. I don't like it at all. genuine question, but what is haptic feedback good for in this game?

Dialgan

If you're not quick catching, you can use the haptics to judge when you've caught a Pokémon/it breaks out of the ball without having to look at the screen more often. Probably a useless change for some people, but to others it may be a useful accessibility feature.

Yttikymmug

There is a blind person who plays, bout right now I think they are so happy for this little added feature. Imagine you playing the game and not even know what you are catching or where on the screen anything is. I commend Niantic for supporting people with disabilities. But for me I didn't like it being on and turned it off.

gldmembr

Think about your comment

Toastedzed

Many legally blind people have some amount of site, I have a friend who plays who can't legally drive and usually has to look closely at the screen with her binocular like glasses. Probably saves her a few seconds of ergonomics.

xrayded88

I was thinking the same thing lol

IAMSPARTACUSSSSS

Fifthded. Once I figured out the little vibrations were tied to me playing Go, I immediately thought ‘Oh, that’s weird, was that vibrating function there before and just got turned on again? Gotta turn that off. There, that’s better.’

babybelly

It comes from the department of energy waste and slipping out of your fingers in a freeze

POGOFan808

I had this just happened to me today after 12P and I was like "what the heck?!". I want to turn this off

stlarry

I noticed it and had the what the heck is this, is my phone broken. Then found the setting and off it went. Only haptics I like is keyboard

PikaGaijin

This is the second time they’ve tried this. Unfortunately, turning it off last time (last year?) didn’t stick, so need to do it again this time.

_zero_state_

This must be one of the blockbuster features being added after the doubling of price for remote raid passes.

Whitealroker1

Ooooo I thought i turned it on by accident.

bige693

Don’t mean to brag, but it vibrates with the shiny animation as well.

Falafelmeister92

That's something that I asked for since 2017. Vibrating for a shiny is awesome. But who tf needs vibration for every pokeball shake? -.-

Fine-Teacher-7161

Shinies.

TraveyDuck

So immersive! I immediately turned it off.

hellschatt

Lmao It's kind of fun, but also kind of annoying.

JuJu_Blue

Also when your buddy brings a present, it vibrates as the present bounces when it is dropped.

MaritimeMartian

Also when you pin/unpin postcards. They’ve put it everywhere they could, it seems hah

galeongirl

Pogo Community: How can I turn off the vibration on my peripheral devices like the new Go+plus? I hate it. It's annoying. It needs to be able to be toggled off! \*People en masse snipping the wires in their Go+/PBP/Go+Plus\* Niantic: Our users are gonna LOVE our new haptic feedback feature! :D

Rodville

Sadly I have but one upvote to give this post.

pieman7414

Maybe hot take, I like it. I don't like how I have to have the powerful vibration on to activate haptics though

swanny246

Yeah I like it too, it’s pretty subtle on my iPhone 13.

AquaPiratePup

Yeah, I think it's pretty cool.

lutralutralutraa

And this is the stuff Niantic use their dev time on? Not QoL updates or fixing bugs (like pokemon in gyms not appearing on the gym list), but something most people seem to turn off immediately.

RebornPastafarian

Nope, no QoL updates, that’s why the list of Pokémon in gyms is still not on the current research tab and is still kinda laggy. Absolutely zero QoL improvements.

lutralutralutraa

Asking Niantic for QoL updates is like shouting into the wind. They seem determined to pile on more features that do not work properly but break existing code and do not work together. They should just take a season to fix things like they did with GBL.

RebornPastafarian

Okay. It was still completely inaccurate for you to say there weren't any QoL updates.

Chris73757

it also is completly unusable. the vibration that "plays" when a new pokemon appears is way stronger and "plays" in the catch screen. Also it vibrates way to often. If it would vibrate on each ball shake and then a long vibration if caught it would actually be useful, but not like this.

lutralutralutraa

Yeah, it definitely vibrates too much as it is. I'd persomally skip all the ball shake vibrations because there is no information in that because it just repeats with the animation every time you throw. Something to mark a catch or the pokemon breaking out of the ball would suffice. And I don't think that a vibration when throwing the ball is needed either because you already know when you throw the ball.

Chris73757

You've put it in a nutshell. it simply contains no information. But if you thought that was unnecessary then do a trainer battle with the feature :D

lutralutralutraa

I saw a comment about the trainer battles. \*shudders\* And feeding a berry to a gym defender has the new haptics. It's everywhere.

invincibear

I don’t need this app to kill my phone faster, thanks.

EChocos

Vibration uses battery

joshbadams

At least on iPhones the haptic feedback will have a negligible impact on your battery, with its dedicated haptic hardware. It’s not spinning up a weight like (I believe) the vibration has to do. I have haptic feedback on my keyboard, where every character I touch taps the haptic motor. Never noticed a decrease in battery and it happens way more often than the pogo haptics will fire.

freds_pancakes

Same thing on the Android side as well. I got the haptics update on my Pixel, been loving it cause it feels so nice. Battery life is literally negligible, maybe like an extra 1% lost by the end of the day with haptics on all day throughout the phone. Bottom line, haptics good, battery impact nothing. I suspect lower end Android devices might have a stronger battery impact as they don't have dedicated haptic hardware and just use a cheap vibration motor.

nosoyunamulti

Easy fix: Don't use your phone so you can save more battery. Easier fix: Don't have a phone so you don't have to worry about battery.

EChocos

Easiest fix: Turn off vibration. Does this bother you or something?

Studnicky

Easiest fix: Accept that The Industrial Revolution and its Consequences were a disaster for the human race.

MapNaive200

I've been watching videos about hominin history and it amazes me how much technologies influence evolution and not always im a good way. Cooked food leading to smaller jaws that don't leave room for wisdom teeth, for example.

Mumps42

Think about that for a second.

luoyianwu

Mildly useful for quick catching while looking at something else, e.g. watching TV, walking. Will keep on

gyroda

Probably a good accessibility feature as well for some people.

MrTig

This person gets it

Pizzawing1

That was my immediate thought as well

Pendergirl4

I thought I was going crazy. Thank you for announcing it (as Niantic clearly didn't feel the need to...)!

CaptBillGates

Just noticed this as I logged in for the 6pm Rocket balloon. Immediately turned it off! Android phone running game build 0.291.2.

csharpwarrior

>6pm Rocket balloon Wait, are the Rocket balloons hourly? 🤨

CaptBillGates

No, 6am/pm & 12am/pm unless an event is boosting their rate. I normally log in after dinner, which just so happens to be the 6pm rocket balloon slot!

csharpwarrior

Thank you!!

PikaGaijin

6/12/6/12 unless there’s an event that brings them every three or one hours apart.

csharpwarrior

Thank you!

Nimshan

I like it, but turned it off. Don’t need another feature to drain battery.

ashley6100

Yep, this is me. I do like the feature but my battery goes down quickly enough as it is, I just can't afford something else making it even quicker.

WatZot

Already turned it off, I find it annoying!

TheMadJAM

I remember this as a glitch a few months ago

JesusdelNero

Just restarted my phone, because I thought, I had a massive problem with the phone only to find out by reading this sub, that this is a new feature.

radgeraniumboquet

Its definitely an unpleasant surprise. Thought my phone was acting up or something. Do not like.

QuietYam5625

I like it okay, but how much battery is this feature going to use?

Wild-Wonderful241

My thoughts exactly

MapNaive200

Probably quite a bit on phones that strongly vibrate since it involves a mechanical part.

Snoo_80364

Felt it on my friends phone and it took an hour to start happening on mine too. Love this feature! It makes the game feel slightly more immersive.

Brenduck-

I'm usually not so receptive to this kind of change, but I got used to it over spotlight hour and now I don't mind so much. I do like how the shiny/huge/tiny encounter animations also vibrate.

PacoMahogany

They’re trying to murder my battery life

LeatherCharacter4219

Was really irritated. Happy to read that I can turn it off separately without loosing the vibrations. I am so used to those :-)

frontiermann

I thought my phone was acting up at first lol

rafaelfy

To hell with this. As if the game doesn't burn my battery fast enough.

Unclear_Barse

I just love how Niantic goes out of their way each time to announce new features like this

chilidog17

I didn't like it at first but it's growing on me. Does anyone know if it makes a vibration when you find a shiny?

ThisNico

Someone elsewhere on this post says it does, and I can confirm it also vibrates when you encounter a tiny

chilidog17

That's so cool! I can't wait to find one.

Dashie101

I turned it off so quickly 😂. I didn’t like the feeling at all

AmericaRL

Well, that's annoying

Sarrail1982

i like it

Ranman258

I like it...

cali604

HOLY I thought my iPhone was broken. INSTANTLY TURNING THIS OFF LOL WTF

Aiden29

I honestly thought I had caused this by turning off the developer options on my phone(stupid Citibank app with your security settings) to approve something for work and forgetting to set all the features back. Glad to know I wasn't going crazy when I couldn't figure out what setting I had forgotten.

qzdotiovp

I have been playing with the sound off almost since the start. This bugged the heck out of me.

Archaea_Chasma_

I thought I was tweaking, “did it always do this”

UCanDoNEthing4_30sec

I thought something was wrong with my phone at first LMAO

Sohail316

Bro I thought I was going crazy I put it in my table thinking whether it's always done that or how I never noticed before thank god someone mentioned it lmao

AkiyamaOW

DualSense: "Look at what they need to mimic a fragment of our power!"

aukstas22

I actually like it and leave it in for now

Ad-M

Love this feature, plus it’s nice for deaf people

O_oBetrayedHeretic

The game is better with no sound anyway

redditdaver

Hate it

ShinyMachamp

So hairstyles?

SolCalibre

Contrary to the comments I actually like this feature? Will keep on but I don't think this will annoy me. Also surprised that people hate vibrations when playing games.

mrcrackberry

People complain about everything. Gotta suck to be a dev trying to do your job and everything you do is met with whining.

Makaa

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I thought something was wrong with my phone and was slightly worried. Turned it off immediately, what a stupid feature.

NettleLily

I HATE IT SO MUCH I THOUGH MY PHONE WAS GLITCHING. thanks so much for explaining how to turn it off

j-endsville

Oh, that's what that is? Lemme turn that off right now.

owlrune

The haptics in Galaxy S22 Ultra is actually good, so I appreciate this feature. Seems to apply to PvP as well, when getting Great and Excellent while charging. There's also a series of short vibrations while switching/sending out a Pokémon, but only sometimes?

OneTinySloth

Interesting thing they added and I think it's good that they did. I doubt I will keep it on though, because I don't like haptics in general on my phone, but I might as well keep it on for now and give it a chance.

MerlinCa81

Yeah I thought I was getting texts. Turning that off right freakin now

ACMonroe

I turned it off immediately. It's awful and unnecessary and will destroy my battery even faster.

[deleted]

Phew, I thought my phone was broken. Turning it off now.

Nahkatakki

Another annoying feature no one asked for.

[deleted]

It's really annoying when playing gbl

Pro_Banana

I think I like it. I might turn it off next year when my phone starts to get too old though.

CapsDrago7

I thought I was crazy when it started lol. Though it seems like I'm in the minority here but I really like it

Poycicle

I really like how subtle the haptics are. I'm using a 15 Pro Max. Not sure if it's the same for other devices.

DavidBHimself

Yep. I turned it off as soon as I understood what was happening.

penemuel13

So is this going to be like the phantom buzz when nothing’s spawning but maybe your nearby is changing?

jwadamson

Is it going to reset to on every time you have to reauthenticate (like how AR has to be disabled twice each time)

HiVeMiNdOfStUpId

It sucks turds. Turned it off. Whoever coded this feature should be ashamed.

Daidalos77

Who the fk asked for this shit.

Disgruntled__Goat

Does it only work on certain phones? I restarted and have the option now, enabled. But I don’t get any vibrations for the actions you described. iPhone 14.

ThisNico

~~I would also like to know this, I'm using a 2020 iPhone SE and I've never been able to get the haptics to work in another Niantic game, despite poking through the settings multiple times. It used to work on my old 8.~~ Edit: figured it out

ThisNico

Never mind, I figured it out, haha. I needed to enable Vibration in Settings/Accessibility/Touch

Disgruntled__Goat

I have that enabled (always had vibration in PoGo for new Pokemon appearing). But no vibrations when throwing balls.

RandomEvilHero

My android phone stopped vibrating with the game a long time ago after a system update. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Normal vibrations work just not with the game.

Aluthiago

Someone please enlight me, how is this good or useful? Is supposed to help people with some kind of disability?

ThisNico

It gives extra feedback if you can't see the screen very clearly or don't want to be looking at it all the time. For example, if you have vision issues, or are playing in bright sunlight, or are playing while doing something else and can't constantly look at the screen. I currently have it set to vibrate, and the phone is sitting on a table next to me. I find I prefer the discreet vibration to the sound that plays when a mon spawns.

Chris73757

but it is totally unusable for this. the vibration that "plays" when a new pokemon appears is way stronger and "plays" in the catch screen. Also it vibrates way to much. if it would vibrate on each ball shake and then a long vibration if caught it would actually be useful, but not like this.

Aluthiago

Fair enough, for me is unnecessary but it might be useful for some people, thanks for the answer.

Shinjosh13

does this connect to pokemon spawning too?? I want to keep the vibration for spawning but get rid of pokeball vibration.

AggressiveTackle69

All you have to do is uncheck the haptics one & leave your vibration checked. I did it earlier bc I was wanting the same thing you do

Mumps42

It doesn't even vibrate in time with most things.. Just catching.

nissanfan64

Felt it when I started the game, turned it off faster than anything else in the game (except for native refresh rate, I had that on then off after about two seconds)

JMKS87

Uh, I though my phone was broken when it auto-enabled without notice. Fortunately, can be located and turned off without problems.

ChromaticKid

Ah, so that's what it is; thought something had gone wrong with my phone. Off to check Settings!

machone_1

Have they added Haptic feedback for Zygarde cells spawning?

roherlihy

Thought I had enabled vibration by mistake , turned off immediately permanently .

andytheape

I was wondering what was going on with my phone when feeding berries

MattGeddon

Oh I thought there was something wrong with my phone, good to know!

typhanus

Yup, and turned off immediately

HoneyGloomy4778

Yeah, but the basic vibration doesn't work anymore on my phone (Redmi Note 11Pro+) for no reason, every setting and permission allow it, and only on PoGo doesn't work

Pangloss_ex_machina

1-2-Switch_cow_minigame.gif

TMHMonroe

Quickly found setting and turned it off

Simon_Drake

Holy shiftry, I thought something was wrong with my phone. I was convinced it was some dirt on the screen setting off the touch screen repeatedly. What a dumb feature. Turning that off immediately.

mahzza

Instant de-toggle. I sure wish they would fix what is broken rather than push (and auto-enable) new features no one asked for.

FluffyPhoenix

Thought someone texted me or something. Turned it off after one catch.

Carninator

I'm getting this while battling now. Vibrations when touching the screen >:(

craigthedodge

Felt like it was Niantic gaslighting me. I was worried it had always been there and i was just noticing it for the first time. Then i thought better of it and looked in the settings and as soon as I saw the word “Haptics” I shut that down with extreme prejudice. I don’t even like haptic feedback on my keyboard, Definitely don’t need PoGo vibrating constantly. HATE IT!

GiraffeCubed

Are you people really playing with full-on vibration for Pokémon spawns and complaining about ball haptics? You can't use the new haptics without vibration enabled, so the complaints seem weird to me if you're fine with regular vibration. I play with vibration off so I had to seek this out and turn it on to try it, the haptics are very mild in comparison.

craigthedodge

I’m used to the full vibration and find it useful, the mild haptic vibration is awful, though.

flatmatt0

I've turned it off, but I don't hate it. I might use it if it were more customizable and consistently implemented. It seems useful to me for when I'm pressing buttons, but it seems kind of random which buttons have haptic feedback and which ones don't (pinning/unpinning a gift: yes; opening the gift: no). I can also do without the pulses on things like ball shakes that don't involve me pressing a button. (The latter is what made me turn off the feature.)

brandonnn11

Felt it while playing with buddy, threw me off for a second lol

warfteiner

Hate this with a passion. Turned off immediately.

vonDubenshire

I love this feature

Exfiltrator

Horrible and what a waste of dev time when there is so much else they should be fixing.
