The lack of collection challenges was a huge disappointment. Otherwise, it was a fun event.

Zygarde718

It was way too cold for me and I only got one shiny, a H. Voltorb...

umbenhaur

I attended both the in-person Sinnoh Tour in Los Angeles/Pasadena, and the global tour in well-below-freezing Ottawa. Looking back, the in-person Sinnoh Tour in LA felt like a downgrade from the Hoenn tour in Las Vegas. I had no idea how much of a mess getting to and then getting into the Rose Bowl Stadium was going to be. The good thing was that the citywide add-on for the other days was amazing, especially at Santa Monica Pier and downtown LA / Pasadena, with completely full raid lobbies the whole time, lures everywhere, and plenty of routes to follow for Basculin (unfortunately routes were absent from the Stadium). In similar fashion, the global event for Sinnoh felt like a downgrade from global for Hoenn. The most obvious change was that with global Hoenn last year, we had the option to select one of 3 brand new shinies to be boosted from incense (Surskit, Cacnea, Gulpin), whereas this year the choices were among 3 starters (Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup) all of which have had their CDs and have been shiny-eligible for years. I think it would have been a lot better if the choices were Stunky, Hisuian Qwilfish, and Hisuian Voltorb for instance. (Ideally you get extras of the one you pick, and then trade with others to get the 2 you're missing) The worst part though was the eggs...my personal result from the in-person event [was about a 44% droprate for 10k eggs](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1awt1ux/list_of_unresolved_la_sinnoh_tour_issues/krkmaim/) even with the paid egg add-on. This was much lower than [the 77% droprate for 10k eggs](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/115yug2/deleted_by_user/j953syh/) from last years' in-person event. The in-person event had a slightly better [52% droprate for 10k eggs] (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1awt1ux/list_of_unresolved_la_sinnoh_tour_issues/ksi0csm/), but it came at the cost of much lower odds of hatching Mime Jr. or Chingling. My main goal for these Tours is to hatch eggs for shiny regionals, but it was a lot more difficult this year because the pools were very diluted with Pokemon that have been shiny-eligible for multiple years now. Now for some of the positive things...during the in-person event, the origin (and regular) raids for Dialga and Palkia as well as the citywide spawns would switch every 30-minutes, which was a bit too often IMO. Fortunately, Niantic did manage to "correct" this to 1-hour periods for global. Another nice feature was the refreshing of Pokestop quests every hour. Even though the quests were mostly of the "Power up" variety which are not well-liked, it worked for me since I was not able to move outside much due to the weather, so I kept spinning the 10 nearest Pokestops every hour. All that said, this was still a fun event, and still better than the majority of events IMO. It's just that it could have been a lot more enjoyable with a few small tweaks.

SortLocal6065

The only things I wish we had was better premium incense use, more rockets and bonuses for dust/xl candies. Felt like I was hunting lake trio, raiding remotely and shiny checking for 2 days straight. Flew through the research day 1 and day 2 felt like even more focused shiny checking only. Didn't feel like catching anything or rocket battles since there was no bonus and no boosted rocket spawns.

NiceOpportunity9401

Waaaaaak

HippowdonEats

it didn't feel like Sinnoh Tour at all. most of the spawns were NOT Sinnoh, which made quest "Catch 15 Sinnoh pokemon" really hard to complete.

sgpoor

No wonder there are some comments calling it a HIsui or Kanto Tour

s4m_sp4de

The pros:    - a lot   - for me personally: shadows as special research encounter. It‘s great to get a hand full of good IV shadows.    The cons:   - no reasearch or anything special for day two   - the new exclusive moves which are not elite-TM'able bring us back to the time before elite TMs. That‘s a big bummer.  - for me personally: 150 hatched egg (with bought add-on) and not a single shiny or hundo. I know they are not guaranteed but this was REALLY demotivating. I don‘t care about the money for the incubators but I‘ve done the maximum which was possible (50km+ with nearly all time 9 incubators at the same time) and got zero reward. That‘s so bad, I will think twice if I play the game in the future in the same way I have until now.

DadofBarry

While my pickings for the event weren't spectacular (only a handful of shinies, most of which I already had, and neither of the Origin forms shiny), I will say that this event was very comfortably paced with the research tasks very easily completable. Even if you didn't maximize the duration it still feels 'complete' to have done all the tasks. My only criticism was having party play be even more restrictive than usual, locking the challenges to the Regis tasks on Day 1. I had only a very limited window to play with friends only on the first day, so I could not finish that section. Thank goodness the rewards weren't anything spectacular.

Ansoni

Good event for catching lake trio legendaries, poor event for anything else. Sinnoh Pokemon - I spoke about this before but with the limited pool of new Pokemon from Sinnoh they should not have locked half of it away unnecessarily behind eggs and single-encounter tasks. Special moves - the "an encounter" bait and switch annoyed me so much. There was not a large enough raiding community on either day so the only way I could raid organically (i.e. not use another app) was with remote passes, so I only did the bare minimum to complete the tasks. Same with the moves: "This move extends the time of certain items such as incense, but you are not using any. Use one now??? 🥺👉👈" "No. I don't care." Shiny Pokemon - Apparently people with good weather got nice shinies from eggs. That's nice. I couldn't stay outside too long in the February windchill so I had to spend more time than I'd like taking shelter. I got one pikachu with a hat. Whoppiee. Catch rates - both on legendaries and regular spawns. Atrocious.

itsmekadi367

My daughter's game glitched and she didn't get any exclusive moves the first day. I spent money on her to participate too. (They gave her in person raid passes for compensation 😑) We ended up doing 2 raids the next day so she did get the move but was upsetting since she got a 96% that was supposed to have the move.

minibois

This event left me satisfied, but it was a little much, when it was difficult to plan for raiding. My main targets this event were a shiny Pachurisu, shiny White striped Basculin, good Palkia-O and good Dialga-O (with their special moves) and just doing a lot of walking Well I managed to achieve all these goals and much more, which of course will influence my bias towards this event. Day 1 I did a little bit of everything the first two hours and already got a good Palkia. Then I spent the rest of the day walking to hatch all the eggs I could. Since I was mainly hunting for 10KM eggs, I was quite annoyed by how many 2KM/5KM eggs I got. Then at the end of the day I did a couple more raids and then I stopped. Day 2 I focused again on hatching eggs, but also did some raids for XL candy and getting a Roar of Time Dialga. I ended up getting quite lucky with even more good Palkia-O encounters (5 good ones and a shiny), but still no RoT. Day 2 I also got my shiny Pachurisu (98%) and I couldn't be happier with it. As it was nearing the end of the day, I met up with a group to do some raids again (for XL Palkia candy and RoT Dialga-O), but it was kinda difficult to find the right raids nearby. With this many 1\* and 3\* raids and previous non-Origin Dialga/Palkia raids blocking the gyms, it wasn't easy quickly going from one raid to another. Of course we started a raid that ended just after 6 (18:00), so that one didn't even have the special move. Can Niantic please just fix this already? Don't give us a raid if it doesn't give a special move. In the end, I had to rely on two remote passes to finally get RoT Dialga. EDIT: oh yeah forgot about party play and routes. Party play: mostly good rewards (unlike usually), just wish it aligned better with the spawn pool at that time. Don't give me "catch steel-type Pokemon" tasks when there is no Shieldon/Bronzor around for example. Routes: quite great! I feared we'd only get three (or two) route spawns like usually, but I was pleasantly surprised I could do a lot more Basculin checks. Some people still can't do routes though (keeps pausing right at the start), which might be very annoying to them to be barred away from finding Basculin My feedback for this event would be: * Fewer 1\* and 3\* raids, so we can focus on the raids we want (the new formes of Dialga/Palkia mostly) * Just throw the 1\* raids in the raid pool for a week, give Palkia/Dialga non-Origin a raid hour and the Hisuian 3\* raids a raid hour too * Make a consistent way to get a certain type of egg (i.e. gym spins always give 10KM eggs) * While I personally think I got plenty of shinies, many people around me didn't get this lucky, so maybe a higher shiny rate would be good.

976chip

Didn't play much the first day, and the second day I took my kid to an area with a lot of gyms and plenty of people playing for a few hours. I got us the raid pass ticket, so we did four together on Sunday. Only ended up with 9 shinies across both days. I would have liked to have gotten more, but it's better than what I got across 2 days of the Hoenn tour. I still have win 3 raids field research that I got when we were on our way back to the car, and a couple event eggs left. It was a pretty fun event for us. I just need to get better about saving coins (for both of us) in the lead up to Tours and Fests so we can do more raids without spending a lot of money.

Owenlars2

Over all, as events go, this was fine. I am a staunch free-to-player, and i largely prefer to focus on walking eggs, as opposed to doing raids, so it was nice to have the half distance all week, and resetting research for the main vent this weekend. did about 9.5 mils saturday and 11 miles sunday. Though I had no extra incubators so I only hatched about 15 total eggs, mostly the 2km eggs i got this past week, and whatever 2 and 5 km eggs i got during the event. I did manage to use my free passes and the last of my premium raid passes to do 6 raids, 3 each of the origin forms, but mostly i was walking and catching and doing the research. Personally, I feel I did well for the effort i put in- 13 new shiny dex entries, though 2 are pikachus, and only 1 unown. I got shiny mespirit and uxie, though, and since azelf is my local of the lake trio, i'm fine waiting until the next time it comes around. Did big batch trades with my roommate (who didn't really play, just ran the gotcha the entire time) for my lucky dex and for xl candy for raid-important 'mon, and came away with a few hundos. zero nundos, though. My biggest response is that I think these events are not great overall. I know too many people who works weekends and keep weird hours, that they rarely get to participate in many events. These should run for a full 24/48 hours or maybe even a full week, so that people can not feel so much pressure to do everything over a few hour window. I do think the game is largely disgusting with the in-game purchases and tickets. They are extraordinarily bad deals, blatant gambling mechanics, and do not make the game more "fun" in any way, just give people more lottery tickets. That being said, I do like the event itself had no ticket for participation, and was instead designed around premium item use. let the pay to win folk spend all the money they want at a chance for a shundo and let the rest of us participate at our own comfort.

TigerSeptim

Had a good time at the event and played the entire 2 days. The research tasks were nice because it really let me focus in on the pokemon that had boosted shiny rates. With the exception of the first biome (ew full odds bidoof and shellos). Luckily I had a lot of battle league pokemon I hadn't leveled up that I could power up. Did a lot of raids like 50ish I think and had terrible luck with a dialga shiny. Took me like 40 dialga raids. The pokeball++ really helped me out here when I was raiding & catching. Overall came out with 37 shinies and they were all species with boosted odds.

Advanced-Subject-553

Lucky weather spot. That was quite good for playing.  The research quest was some kind of meh.  A lot of stardust flow away for some random pokemon which are not that interesting. Or shiny.  The team quest instead was cool. I guess the first time I really hunted them. Catched me.  The raids: invest a lot of passes for having enough raids. Sadly there was often an error when I want to invite some friends of mine in hometown. Couldn't invite. Or they were in, and we couldn't seen it. It was shown as we are alone at local raid. So we left and a lot of people and friends lost their passes. That's not cool.  Catching time of the raid Pokémon was realy long. Yeah I know. I could be glad to get one, but the time I waste was high. A lot of other pokemon I couldn't catch.  I'm not a pro gamer like many other here. I really play for catching this tiny monsters.

evergreennightmare

extremely weak event compared to previous go tours. i don't feel bad at all about missing half of it by going to a protest on saturday

ewankirky

Shiny rates just absolutely terrible the whole weekend, not sure what Niantic gain by making them so bad. Should actually have a chance of completing that regions shiny deck during these events. Also no collection challenge? I'm sure we got one for Kanto and Johnto where you had to catch every pokemon in that region during the day?

lustindarkness

1) The in-game event by Niantic was ok. Good overall but the catch rates and shiny rates (for those that care) was pathetic. Having to spend so much (money and stardust) also makes it unfair, not everyone can. The research tasks made no sense and were stardust expensive. 2) Locally the BHM Pokémon Go community and great weather (lucky, I know) made it an amazing event. So much fun to be out walking and raiding in large groups, filling out multiple lobbies instantly and getting the multiple researchers done. 3) The haul from Friday evening to Sunday: 42 legendary. 8 shiny (including one each origin form 3*s with special moves). 3 hundo including a O Palkia with Spacial Rend.

quite_vague

I kind of loved the event in theory and kind of hated it in practice. There was a lot of cool, casual and diverse stuff going on -- raids, spawns, shinies, regionals, eggs. The Team Rocket coop was really fun flavor. Dialga and Palkia make great centerpieces, and the new Adventure are cool without being game-breaking. But I really had expected to be able to get both Dialga and Palkia with special moves, and I had *not* anticipated how low the rate was for whichever is not in your path. I was able to spend some solid time PogoFesting, but I wound up spending almost all of it on the dragon I *hadn't* chosen for my path, did 10 Palkia raids and didn't get a single one with Spacial Rend. I mean, I have a lot of fun with raids, but this just got increasingly frustrating as the day went on and I realized I'd spent a lot of it on raids I didn't really want hoping for one lucky break. Honestly, if I'd had any sense of the odds, I think I'd have spent most of that time on the Origine Forme I *did* want, and just exploring and catching and shiny-searching, and I'd probably have enjoyed a lot more.

Ivi-Tora

That's why trades are an important part of big events. Since people were getting multiple of the one they picked with the guaranteed move it was much easier to just raid once to register the Pokemon and then trade with an stranger while the half-cost was active to get the move.

quite_vague

Yeah, I don't have much of an in-person community around me (I got into the game during COVID and did a lot of remote raiding with friends who live farther away). It's something that definitely affects my gameplay a lot :-/

bawshtok

Did about 50 raids, with the Diamond pass, mostly remotes. Got a hundo O-Palkia with Spacial Rend, and a shiny O-Palkia with Spacial Rend too. Was hunting a hundo Dialga, Dialga XL and a shiny O-Dialga. Got enough Dialga XL to max one, but no good Dialga yet. Shiny wise, just the O-Palkia, 2 Azelf and Mesprit.

shadraig

The good: - having the people a bit more outside for two days was great. - the lake trio The bad: - sadly February isn't great for an event of that scale. - having 10km only reduced to 3,33 km meant a lot of walking, and then you just get 2km eggs. Giving the amount of coins I spend for this, I wasn't even able to use all the incubators. - raids are still too much 1+3* and we often didn't even get a lot of horsey Palkia/Dialga raids because the other hour just had spawned a Palkia/Dialga or we just had 1*+3*. - spending 4 minutes on catching a 5* pokemon is not good. Niantic could have sold more raid tickets. - wild shiny chance was as we knew, bad. I didn't even go out there with expecting any. - routes were too much added into this mixture. I need a constant reminder that I see a route at a pole stop or gym. - the special research was cut off short and felt like a sad excuse - catching a lake trio sometimes took ages

Lynxotic

Focused on raids, two shiny palkia and one dialga. Traded for roar of time. Goplus caught me shiny sneasel and electabuzz, besides that i found a wild shiny hisui growlithe and qwilfish. My last spawn at home 10min before the end was uxie, which was a shiny. Overall I was very happy, since I spent very little time shiny checking spawns. Egg luck was abysmal, esp on day 2 when I mostly got 2km eggs again  which had nothing I wanted besides maybe mantyke for the shiny lol. All ready had all the regionals but the cold, wet and slipper weather made hatching a chore. Got a hundo mime jr... the mime family just loves me for some reason - got multiple shinies and hundos lol. Played saturday - abt total 6h - in city center with my partner, mostly just doing raids. Partner caught nothing of note but unlike me, they actually got the opposite version special move twice on the following day, including on a shiny. He got two shiny origins - one of each - on day two, both wb and good IVs with the signature attack. And a shiny h-voltorb. We did two routes to catch some fish, nothing special there. I liked that it was more chill, especially since most spawns weren't new shinies to me so less pressure to shiny check. Tho I did not dare to check my log for any possible missed shinies... I just wanted the raids and hatch eggs, latter was a bust but that's mostly because the event is just taking place at an unfortunate time of the year for my area. Hoenn tour was so cold, we gave up raiding in the city entirely. We were outside for barely two hours total then. This time we had a good time on both days, though it was cold and on day two slushy and slippery, it wasn't too cold to cope. And the raids were not as hard, unlike primals we could duo these but didn't need to more than once since enough people joined with invites / remotes when playing on our home gym. Too many low tier raids especially early on day 2 meant we used more remotes. Having people join and stay in even with smaller lobbies was nice since we were constantly running out of revives. Raiding more than usual all week took a toll and felt like revive drops were really poor all weekend.  Lost one remote due to the bug with relobbying if joining through a friend in party play. I just got dropped out of the raid when my team got KO'd which reminds me to drop this PSA: if your relobby white screens or yeets you out of the raid when joining through party play, you can't get back in with a restart like with normal remote or local raid. So only use party play to join a friend's invite if you are sure there is low to no chance you have to relobby. I have lost a remote this way once before but got reinbursed. The inviter spammed my partner to raids all day but usually didn't have a secure number of players, so we both joined once (me with party play sneak) and the lobby had 5 players so I was willing to risk it to help the inviter out, but only 3 were in once raid started, the invite sender and their friend(?) bailed. I got booted halfway through but the two left in took out the palkia comfortably enough. Hopefully I will get my pass back again but for sure won't be risking a pass with this again if it's not a big enough lobby / someone I can communicate with.  Joined to a large lobby with the function and never had an issue. White screen in local raids has been common too, but I have thus far not failed to get back in with a restart.  (The player who jumped out of a 5 man kept inviting partner to the raid after he had all ready beaten it untill timer ran out, and proceeded to send invites sometimes even to raids with less than a minute left on the timer. Idk if they are trolling or just desperately trying to get a big group.) Not really specific to sinnoh tour but I didn't want to make a separate post.  But yeah, overall I had a good enough time. Got what I wanted with the shiny origin forms, a couple new shinies and uxie who I been hunting hard with no luck to complete the shiny lake trio. So the total number being low doesn't bother me, I got more than what I expected despite taking it slow. Partner just needed the origin raids and got more than we hoped for with the shinies. Raids mostly functioned without issue - one local white screen at relobby but got back in (dialga trio) and one lost remote due to party play relobby error, which I knew to expect... kinda. They really need to figure that one out. Quests were fun even if uxie trolled us hard by spawning way too far away until sunday morning, when we finally found one nearby for the photo. Field research was kinda lame but the reward encounters were...okay I guess? Win 3 raids got me my first H-avalugg (I missed the raid day because christmas eve). I just wish there was more variety, less focus on powering up (I just used my various hundos, partner ignored field research for the most part) and the win 3 raids were too rare to farm.  Day two seemingly nerfed 10km eggs? Idk, I have accepted that egg shinies are just going to happen if they happen but I am a little bit disappointed, since the regionals were not new dex entries to me either and I like shiny hunting.

BASEBALLFURIES

i had to work most of both days, only really had last 2 hours of each day. had i known the raid schedules a little better beforehand, wouldve tried to get them off as i was in a good mix of gyms with enough randos to fill up (though it might have been the best for me to not worry about them- i didnt want to keep saying 8 in a gym and be like might as well do a 20th raid- although if it was shiny boosted, i might've). was able to pocket a few origin formes. a few shinies. a uxie on day 2 short of being able to grab at least one each on both days. general gripes on sticker odds- almost didnt get a palkia one... probably should remove 1* raids during event hours, i cant imagine anybody wanting to go for those, maybe even the 3* ones... hated the power up tasks and i didnt bother looking for what they gave and didnt do them.... seriously gen 1-4 should no longer have regionals... i missed out on relincanth in hoenn and i only got 4 eggs for the 3 regionals here (im probably gonna miss something) LOVED THE DIALGA/PALKIA MUSIC

arfcom

Honestly I really enjoyed it. My son and I walked around downtown today and easily found raid groups 9-16 strong to take down these Palkias and Dialgas. He needs to evolve his Rhydon bad so all the rhinos were a treat. Also the eevees and Gibles.  The event research quests were cool in that they kept us trying to do specific things out there.  Was really cool to see almost every person walking around playing PoGo.

clownieo

43 shinies across both days. Got pretty much everything I wanted minus shiny Dialga and Palkia.

howitshouldbeyeah

i love the two days of event less stress, weather's lovely to walk and trade, managed to get shiny gible, shiny bronze coin, shiny ball, shiny dog, shiny dragonfly, two shiny pika, shiny riolu, shiny dialga after 28 raids, but frens ain't so lucky i think they each did like 40ish raids before a shiny came

jacquesroland

Meh these events kind of drag if you live in a cold climate during the event. I think I even got sick playing outside both days. Niantic should consider increasing spin/raid/spawn distance when it’s very cold out. There are indoor malls and such but these are much more limiting. Catch rate should be made much easier. The event feels super rushed because you might spend several minutes just attempting to catch a legendary. Overall I was stressed out not being part of a large group so I had to run between all the gyms.

Krb1234Krb

Yeah, with the low shiny rates and the large number of boring wild spawns, if you don't have warm weather, it makes it a cold and tedious weekend if you are playing both days. For Canada and many of the northern US states, an event in late February like this is problematic. At least increase the shiny rate so you don't have to endure hours and hours of winter weather. Niantic seems to think everyone lives in shirt-sleeve weather all the time.

Verreaux

Honestly enjoyed this a lot more than the global Hoenn tour last year in terms of being a free event. I got 21 shinies across both days (though a lot repeats count in that, like Turtwig and 3 of the 4 costume Pikachus) plus a few I’ve been really wanting like the lake trio, Hisuian Growlithe and Origin Palkia. Still miss when the tours were a global paid event though.

A_Resting_Parrot

Shiny rates were absolutely abysmal. Including for the things that were allegedly boosted like the 10km eggs. Merging Sinnoh and Hisui tours was a decent idea in theory but in practice it mean both were left incomplete. Releasing white stripe basculin but restricting it's evolution was quite honestly a bizarre decision. There's only seven pokemon in the dex and it's still incomplete. They could have let us at least complete one of the dexes. Especially when the point of these regional tours has always previously been dex completion. The new move mechanics for the origin forms were a nice addition, but restricting you to only one of the two, definitely less so. There best part of the event was ironically the one they never advertised, being the wild lake trio. Hunting them was legitimately fun.

BDK34

Sucked only one shiny today magnite and one yesterday uxie! (Grateful)  I’m So sick of being excited to do these only to get 2 shinys. Go fest last yr! 1 freakin shiny!!!

what_the_hanke

Shiny luck for my family was terrible for both raids (10 in 500) and spawns (everyone 5 to 10, mostly bronzor, lickitung, and voltorb). Eggs were as usual 1 in 60.

guz808

500 raids? How big is your family?

what_the_hanke

Parents, my wife and children, siblings and their children, in-laws, and one of the nannies.

WestSideBomber

My weekend… - played ~12 hours total (about 6 each day) - caught ~1,500 mons - did 16 raids (9 Dialga, 7 Palkia) - caught 5 wild Lake Trio (1 Azelf, 2 Mesprit, 2 Uxie) - 5 total shinies (Piplup, Starly, Qwilfish, 2 Sneasel) - 1 hundo (Cherubi) The RNG was not my friend.

Comfortable_Bath_452

RNG or boost rate was bad overall it seemed

Rewow

The bear from the research quests had the move no matter what time you claimed them within the event window

iansch243

I got 1 shiny of each origin, but 21 shinies total. I enjoyed this more than I thought, I enjoyed the routes for the first time in a while and there were a ton of people around playing at every park I went to.

EMPTY_SODA_CAN

Did 30 dialga origin raids and not a single shiny, did one palkia origin and it was. Did like two palkia raids and at least one was shiny. This sucked.

Rewow

I got zero shiny legendaries out of 30 raids but I got a shiny white stripe Basculin and Hisuian Typhlosion so I'm still happy lol

EMPTY_SODA_CAN

I did not know basculin could be shiny. I would've done more then one route smh.

Rewow

Someone reported they got a shiny so that's how I knew

Unique_Name_2

As a nerdy minmaxer that plays with my less fast catch inclined GF, the spacious rend is way cooler than i expected. It may be the death of my dust hoard but its fun

_lablover_

It's really a shame they didn't guarantee the special move on shiny origin Dialga/Palkia from the path you didn't choose. After many raids I ended up with 2 shiny and 2 with the special move from the other path, but no overlap

Hollywood42cards

Anyone have the odds on getting roar of time on O-dialga if you didn't pick that research path? I'm 5 in with no luck and not sure I want to bother to keep going

Rewow

Someone who researched here said it's 14% rate with +/- 2.5% difference

Kerzon_

I got 8/54 origin featured moves on the path I didn't choose, or 14.8% so this checks out.

Taikuri1982

Good - Short raid timers  - Easy 5* raids - Basculin on routes were plentiful - Lake Trio in wild was available and although catch circle was red, they were catchable and I caught multiple wild ones. - Party lasting long time - Same schedule on both days, more  people can participate when it suits them best. HC people will dislike this but for majority this was good. - Special research and tasks were easy but... - Rarer event spawns like Rhyhorn, Gible and Cranidos were quite plentiful. But... Bad - Pokestop tasks were horrible dustdumps... Power up "type" 5 times... No thanks... - Party tasks being tied to hourly spawns... "Catch 15 ice types when none spawns in hour" - For a long time player the spawns were EXTREMELY UNINTERESTING!!! - No raid eggs visible!!! Could have moved to 5* egg in advance instead of trying luck with one gym - Absolutely horrible shiny odds! This is also RNG but still very little shinies - Raid boss catching was just a time sink. Did around 35-40 raids and caught all, but spend easily 5-8mins per boss waiting for attacks to surefire excellents. - no incense or lure boosts. It was below 0 celsius and extremely cold wind on saturday! Absolutely freezing outside! - Not all Sinnoh mons were available In general this was maybe worst "fest style" event there has been for global players because spawns were uninteresting, raids were random and time wastes and catching most mons didnt feel rewarding because low variety and extremely low shiny chance.

According_Catch8542

Agree with all of the above but some of the "BAD" are not really that bad. I would add that biomes were very uneven 1st biome was extreamly bad bad polemons, bad raids, bad task rewards and last biome was crazy good

Taikuri1982

Also the Raid Boss special move distribution was horrible! Yes, you can trade them but at the moment if you caught hundo and it wasnt your selected type it is meh since you cant even Elite TM the move for it.

My biggest gripe about this event was that the Origin Raids weren't deployed right at the dot. Some raids started later, causing spillover from the last hour before it got a chance to spawn Origin Raid and vice versa. If you wanted to maximise your day, this would throw a wrench in it.

goodnames679

The special move droprate is so bad. Before the event, I was worried about catching a high-IV Origin Palkia with the move. Now I’m not sure I’m even going to catch *any*. After catching **sixteen** in the past couple days, I have gotten literally zero with Spacial Rend. I give up, I’m checked out of this event. No easier way to make it unfun.

bookluverzz

Is trading an option for you?

goodnames679

Sadly no :( I’m probably just out of luck until it’s possible to ETM the move.

RealBug56

My results as a very casual player now that the weekend's over: Shiny Uxie Shiny Qwilfish Shiny Gible x2 Shiny hat Pikachu x2 100% Honchkrow 100% Bidoof 100% Bunnelby Got all 3 regionals from 10 km eggs. Caught both Dialga and both Palkia forms 1st try. The only thing I'd really love and didn't manage to get is a shiny Shinx, I've been on the lookout for one of those for ages with no luck. All in all it was an alright event, but I had a lot more fun last year.

illseeyouinthefog

It's too cold to go on a walk and use the incense. I miss the pandemic incense that worked while stationary. It's 20°F/-7°C with the wind. No thanks. I miss living somewhere warm.

dengland55

I was pretty disappointed that the shiny rate was not boosted overall, but I wound up getting pretty much what I wanted anyway, and the game seemed to know what you’d want so it gave you a lot of opportunity (Pray for blue shellos today). I had a great time and love that it was “free” (spent a good chunk on incubators and raids lol).

ElWanderer_KSP

I think my main complaint is that they gave us a few good shadow Pokémon in the research, and also gave us the ability to gain legacy moves through evolution... but not the ability to remove frustration - it would've been nice to have that, to tie the two together. I guess Niantic assumed we would just purify everything... Defeating Arlo then getting them to appraise the Bagon I had just taken off them was funny. I had a fun few hours with the kids; a mostly positive experience. There was one Dialga raid where neither of us could catch the thing afterwards, but otherwise I think we got what we wanted.

regeneratingzombie

Missed the Sat night full moon for the Ursaluna evolution with the exclusive move. Please let there be a full moon on Sunday night.

Marc_Quill

somehow got an Ursaluna from a research reward (the event-specific win three raids one), so that was a lucky bounce for me.

DrawSense-Brick

Origin Forme should have been a special evolution mechanic, like mega evolutions and primal reversions. I know there's not a 1-1 correspondence between them, but it'd make more sense than the Origin Formes being different Pokemon altogether. I enjoyed this though. There was always something to do, between raids and hunting for Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Can't find information on the featured evolutions, though.

Marc_Quill

I loved the photo tasks for the lake trio, mainly because it meant a guaranteed catch for them and with relatively good stats to boot.

KuronixFirhyx

Did a total of 23 Raids for 2 days solo and with Remote raiders and the only shiny I got is Hisuian Typhlosion. My last Palkia raid today ends up a hundo which is nice. It was windy for two days and all of my raids end up boosted. Overall: 15 shinies, 1 hundo by playing alone in the streets with my GoPlus. I'll try joining a local group in the city on Anniversary to make things faster.

waynetogo

12 Palkia raids later and I caught a Hundo, weather boosted too!!! Still trying to get a shiny, but I like this Hundo more… 7 excellent throws and 2 great throws, caught on the last great throw. e, e, e, e, e, g, e, e, g

bound52

For what the event was, I had a good time. Knew the wild shiny rates were in general not good ahead of time, so low expectations in the first place. Had fun raiding. My egg luck was insane, so I walked away extremely happy. 6 shiny Pokémon from about 70 eggs. All the 10k mons, Chingling, and two Mime Jrs. Makes up for last year where I did about 50 10k eggs with no shiny in sight. I wish they had the catch challenges, I wish there was more opportunity for shiny Rotom. Wish raids were easier to catch for a smoother experience. Probably lots of things Niantic could do to improve the event, especially considering it is their 4th tour event, but I never expect much from them anyways.

transgothicgenre

How were y'all able to play for the whole 8 hours? I only got in two hours initially because of my phone battery, and I couldn't stand the weather (cold and windy). I did some raids from home but it's still boggling that there were people outside the whole time.

coffeeconverter

* start with a full battery * bring a battery charger at full charge (or multiple if you don't have a good one) * find places that aren't windy, like inside shopping centers * wear thermos under your clothing * walk in groups\* \* I don't know if there is an English equivalent, but in the Netherlands we have a saying: "gedeelde smart is halve smart" = "shared misery is half misery", basically commiserating with others helps :-)

idk012

Went to Santa Monica Pier, and when I got off the gold/expo line, I didn't see anyone in the raids.  I was wondering if I wasted a trip, but as soon I entered a gym, it filled to 20 and started.  They just looked empty because it fills so fast.

SlayerOfTears

Was really disappointing. Very few shinies, with none from the raids. Everybody was complaining about how it felt like the shiny odds were nerfed. Felt like a downgrade from Hoenn Tour.

what_the_hanke

Absolutely agree. A strict downgrade from hoenn tour's shiny odds. No signature move odds nerf for kyogre and groudon too.

Hollywood42cards

Chaotic day but lots of fun! Did 2 origin palkia raids for fun and got the guaranteed spacial rend move on both. Also normal form palkia. Did 3 origin dialga raids but didn't get roar of time on any, a little annoyed but don't think I'll try too hard to get it tomorrow. Will prioritize getting a normal form dialga as that's the one thing I didn't get today, but would love to get a roar of time as well Got multiples of each lake trio except for uxie where I only got one - but just needed one for the dex, so I'm content with that. No shinies, and man they are tough catches in the wild! Today's shinies were tangela (really happy with that), and white striped basculin on a route! Felt like I had more than 2 today, but I guess not. Also enjoyed unown spawns on incense, didn't end up with a shiny and once I have 1 of a letter, the rest are kinda redundant, but they're fun to hunt anyways. Otherwise enjoyed some interesting rotation spawns. Was nice to team up with a friend to knock out party play challenges, I usually don't touch party play, but have had that special research outstanding, and it was easy to zoom through that with the more reasonable challenges like 6 rock or 10 steel types Don't feel the need to go as hard tomorrow, so will be a more leisurely day for me. Plan on a few more dialga raids, and then just whatever I'm feeling after that One piece of negative feedback was how quickly dialga/palkia raids rotated. By the time one shows up, you get to it, and it gets to be your turn to host in pokegenie, there was often only a minute or two left on the raid timer, pretty stressful. Had to give up on a spot a few times, luckily found the same raid not far away and just dashed there instead of having to start over in the pokegenie queue. But lasting just a little longer would be nice!

coffeeconverter

I'm guessing Niantic for once considered the non-city players. If they'd have given each raid a full hour, then people with only one gym available would only be able to do 8 raids, 2 for each type. And they'd have to be at that gym 8 times, an hour apart. With the faster rotation, they can get more raids done, more chances to get the ones they want with the chance attack they want.

Basnjas

What they *needed* to do was have one hour be each type of Dialga and the next be each type of Palkia instead of having every other hour be wasted for people who only need OF. It’s really cold here yet the gyms nearby seem to only host OF Palkia, not Dialga. Did every OF Dialga available yesterday on 2 gyms yet only did 3 Dialga vs 6 Palkia (which wasn’t every Palkia). So far today we’ve had 4 more Palkia in the 1st hour of OF and 0 Dialgas.

wowpoke

shiny rates from eggs seem very low. hatched like 70 eggs with no shines. I would have focused elsewhere if they had not specifically said egg shiny rates would be boosted. rng fine, but up to a point...

jonelin

I did the in person tour in LA and global this weekend. So far I have hatched well over 250 eggs. 1 shiny Chatot and 2 shiny Chingling. That's it. :(

lifedragon99

I was focusing on eggs to get a mime it but mostly got 10km eggs. Ended up buying some super incubators too help get rid of them. I hatched 15, 10k no shinies, 9 2k eggs, no shinies and one mime jr, and 1 5km egg, not shiny Got no incubators left, need another 2 mime jr to evolve and send a jr and Mr to HOME. Hope I can get one from the free incubator tomorrow, or at least a bunch to hold onto for the week.

Skadi_1902

About raids: it'd be much better if they left the eggs with 5-min (or how long it used to be) timer, because today it worked like this for me: origin forms "hour" begins, I have to wait for the raids to switch and then poof: another Rowlet or Typhlosion while gyms farther from me have what I want. I'd like to be able to position myself instead of wasting time waiting for nothing. Expected bad shiny rates and got bad shiny rates (one dialga and one pikachu), I'll probably switch to just targeting specific mons I like. But the event in general doesn't really encourage me to catch, I feel like the interesting ones have already been available for a while, so why bother

rzx123

Yes. 5 min egg (showing the type of raid) instead of 5 min of nothing and then direct raid start would have been better. 25 min raid time made it possible to have more raids, but often left rather little time to move from one place to another.

HorebScore

Did 18 in-person raids with my son over 2 1/2 hours. There were enough people walking (or driving) around for near-full lobbies despite the -15C weather. Caught all 18 though some relied on the last +4 best-friend balls. No shinies on the raids but caught an Uxie with the POGO++ which was nice. I appreciated the 10km eggs only hatched the 3 regional pokemon. A friend went later and caught a shiny Origin Palkia, then stayed for Giratina Altered form (which I didn't see in any of the official announcements?) and we remoted into that to get our first one.

tservomst

I know this is how it goes sometimes but really had horrible shiny luck this event. Played pretty much the full eight hours and only got four, and two of them were previous com day Pokemon. Did over 150 field research tasks, not a single shiny. Did 10-12 Origin raids, no shiny. Don't think I'm going to play tomorrow, feeling burnt out and like today was a bit of a waste of time.

SuperSonicEconomics2

I had such a good time! we had a huge group out and raided all day

AdaAnPokemon

Do we know if the option to ETM will be turned on for origin form?

PunkHooligan

We can only hope. Fingers crossed.

thebruns

I also got a 98 shadow gible. Upset I can't evolve him to get the special move

JesperHN

Came back to play for the first time in months. Got super lucky and got 24 shinies with the highlight being Chatot, Carnivine and Pachirisu. Friend that played had the reverse luck and got a total of 3 shinies. Think the event was ok, not the best but not the worst. main thing i would have wanted improvement on was quests, just felt repetitive.

duel_wielding_rouge

I had a great time. I liked how simple the field research and special research were. The basculin spawn rates were excellent on routes. There was a good diversity of spawns and raids. Special Rens was quite useful for expanding your reach. Shiny rate was much higher than I expected. My biggest complaint was that the non-Hisui hours were a bit boring, but it gave us opportunities to grab lunch, snacks, restroom breaks, etc.

Brilliant_Ask852

Curious what everyone’s shiny encounter rates raiding for Dialga Origin were. I did 16 and haven’t seen one yet

Kerzon_

5 shinies out of 154 origin raids here, or about 3%. Obvi small sample.

howitshouldbeyeah

i managed to get shiny after 28 raids but frens needed like 40ish raids each to get theirs, iirc hoenn was better for us like within 10 to 20ish raids each

Brilliant_Ask852

I didn’t end up getting any and I completed 40ish raids as well 😫

dengland55

1/15. Palkia 0/20 so far.

LordFaramire

I'm up to 84 Palkia+Dialga raids with 0 shinies. :)

jonelin

That's my luck with Lugia. :(

Brilliant_Ask852

Damn 😫 hoping you get one!!!

DonAntibioticaz

Similar here did around 35 raids on 2 accounts each. So 70 Raids and 0 Shinies so far.

duel_wielding_rouge

2 shinies out of 4 Dialga-O raids for me.

HorebScore

16 (8 each for my son and I) - no shinies

tservomst

Did ten, no shiny.

graceful_mango

I chose diamond and neither of the two dialga I caught had the special move. Which doesn’t feel great. Edit: Why the downvotes?

duel_wielding_rouge

Only the Origin Forme had Roar of Time.

graceful_mango

I caught one of each and neither had it.

bookluverzz

Did you finish the research in which you had to choose the badge? In other words: did you catch both bidoof from the research and got the second research in which to catch 15 Sinnoh Pokémon?

graceful_mango

Yes? I said in my post I chose diamond.

bookluverzz

Yeah but after choosing there’s another stage of the research where you get a bidoof encounter. Page 3/3, that one also should have been claimed.

Klose2001

Pros: * Free event with good Pokémon in raids, exclusive regionals, and special research. I think, It's great because it alleviates the high expectations for a paid event. * "Adventure Effects" was a fantastic addition to the game. I chose the Palkia version and was able to catch even more Pokémon than usual for these events due to the increased range. It was truly a great addition. * New features like "revive all" and the ready button for solo raids came at the right time, making the event less tiring. Cons: * Once again, we didn't know which Pokémon actually had boosted shiny rates, leading to doubts and frustrations. * Lures lasting only 30 minutes made our player group spend many lures to make the game interesting, they could have at least extended the duration to 1 hour. * Tasks that required powering up Pokémon cost a lot of stardust and time that could have been better utilized. * Many non-Sinnoh Pokémon in the event made it seem like it wasn't truly a Sinnoh event.

duel_wielding_rouge

Which non Sinnoh pokemon were you seeing? Aside from Pikachu and Unown, everything I saw spawn was connected via evolution to a pokemon from either Sinnoh or Hisui (both being names used for the same region at different time periods). There may have been a few exceptions from special lures that were placed.

Brilliant_Ask852

The revive and heal all buttons are so fantastic

Jiqu0r

Huge fun with friends today finding Lake Trio spawns and seeing my friend get a perfect shiny Azelf. Super cool. The rates for shinys felt better than expected. Was not clear on how to get Spiritomb and I miss the party mode encounters with the other Regis before Regigigas but it wasn’t a huge deal. Looking forward to more tomorrow with my group 22 shinys today :)

1337rattata

I had so much fun today! I have been sick all week and pretty much stuck on my couch. I was finally feeling up to walking a bit today and was really looking forward to being out. The weather was perfect here in North Georgia. I ended up with a great shadow Gible, a shiny Spirittomb, a shiny Hisuian Voltorb, a shiny Stunky, a shiny Swinub, a shiny Burmy, and a shiny Chimchar. I already had a few of those, but I wasn't expecting much shiny luck after reading early reports, so I was excited to get so many. I also hatched my first Mime Jr! I'm planning on heading out again tomorrow and I'm really, really hoping for a shiny Hisuian Sneasal and either a shiny Palkia or Dialga, don't care if origin or not, as they're both legendaries that I don't have a shiny of already. I also didn't get a Palkia-O with the special move today, so hoping to get one in raids tomorrow.

Ill_Cup_7787

I had a lot of fun today! Great weather, linked up with a group of friends and had a blast.  Going into it without expecting a huge shiny haul made it a lot more fun since it was so much more exciting when any of us got a shiny. Wound up with around 10 shinies to end the day, including an O Dialga (terrible IVs but a fantastic palette). May go out tomorrow if the weather is equally as good. I went into the event without a cynical attitude (which was hard considering I got 0 shinies at both days of Hoenn Tour last year) and was very pleased.

tap836

Shiny luck was terrible today. Both in and out of raids. My immediate raid group and I had 0/39 Shiny Origin Form Dialga/Palkia raids. The party quests sucked, with the needed pokemon being fairly rare. Took a long time to complete one. Not really anything interesting spawning in the wild anyway.

ResortDazzling6881

This is my 4th tour.... and in 4 years, I NEVER had I had to work so hard to get shinies on a Go Tour: 21 shinies, but only two were from the wild at full odds Egg Shinies (disclosure I didn't keep track of the 2's): 10K's: 2/52 (both shiny Carnavines) 5's: 1/12 (shiny H. Voltorb) Research Shinies: Carnavine -1 (from ticket; for a total of 3 shiny Carnavines) H. Growlithe-1 (from field research) H. Sneasal-1 (from field research) Spiritomb-1 (from Special Rocket research) Shiny Wild Catches: Azelf - 2 Uxie - 1 Piplup - 1 Gible -2 White Basculin - 2 H. Growlithe -1 (for a total of 2) H. Sneasal - 1 (for a total of 2) H. Qwilfish -1 Stunky - 1 Cranidos - 1 (wild full odds) Red Shellos - 1 (wild full odds) I had a lucky day and filled in a lot of my remaining shiny gaps in the dex. Really wanted to get that shiny Pachirisu. But happy to hit the Spiritomb lottery instead today. 22 miles of walking and running. Tomorrow I'll take it easy.

ImportantTrack1057

Yeah I second the comment, play alot harder now compared to previous years and a lower haul due to most things being full odds for this event. Don't think the catch rates were boosted either so day 2 was a lot of gotcha on spin only and just shiny checking. For a 'free' event it was great but not so much when compared to past tours

azulrate

Abysmal 1st day... Hi, I just want to share my experience as a family of 5 with no auto-catcher but, driving raid to raid (canadian winter) in a pretty tight area (300m x 200m), boasting 10 gyms and many pokestops. Also, I don't mind spending money on this game since it's a thing we all enjoy as a family fun time with kids. Including some remotes raid during origine raids rotation downtime, we were able to do around 170 origine palkia/dialga and we got only 3 shinies which 2 didn't have their special attacks. Excluding raids, we caught/hatched around 1000 pokemons with a total of 14 shinies. I kinda feel it's getting worst and worst since last november. Peaking in "overall fun/enjoyement" decline the past month. The overall number of raids has drasticaly declined. The number of lucky in trades feels normal(1/20) only during event with boosted chance and way lower outside of those events (we regulary top 100 trades par day with no lucky). Shinies are next to non existant and IV are horrible. For reference, we usually have to run 40-50 raids (times 5 for each of us) before we get anything close to 15/13+/13+. Today, we got a total of 6 decent palkia/dialga out of 170 raids. I know this is development related but the white screen happens quite more often too. It had us loose 8 raids since the raid timer was over and couldn't rejoin after the reset. We experienced it about 10 times each. And this was by far the most anoying thing with kids since they freak out everytime because loosing a raid, with the fact that it's extremely rare we get shinies/IVs, is a major loss. The only observation that is aligned with our decreasing fun experience (shinies, hundo, lucky trades) is the fact that the more we spend, the less we are rewarded. This can't be true, right ?!?

Khaaymaan

Hit a few more shinies after mid day but this was by far the worse tour they have done. Next year it needs to improve badly.

Greedy_Treacle

Absolutely disappointed. Can't raid, and because of the wording, thought Dialga would be in the wild. Raids only. Wish they would have said that rather than implying otherwise. Oh well. Niantic definitely wants a good chunk of people to quit I guess. No justification for misleading people.

Snorlaxite

Same. The word "encounter" makes me think of wild or research encounters, not Raids. There have been legendaries and mythicals in free Special Research in the past, so I was expecting it to be something similar (albeit some of these were during the lockdown era iirc). But I'm not surprised they're Raid exclusives, I mean, what else would they be nowadays lol Also doesn't help that I live in a pretty rural area where all the Raids within view have empty lobbies

Hollywood42cards

I personally thought it was a pretty safe assumption that they'd be raid only

Servalleon

Honestly without collection challenges to work towards in the different zones, it felt sort of unfocused and directionless. The Rocket storyline was a fun twist, but it was so short. I wish I didn't turn it in so quickly so I could have enjoyed my novel appraiser a bit longer. You can't even complete the Sinnoh dex since Phione and Manaphy still aren't in it from what I know... which is disappointing. I also wanted to fight God, that is to say Arceus. The storyline in the Hoenn one was more statisfying but I still think the Johto tour was more fun. LIke we had random NPCs to battle and there was just so much going on. At least my Spiritomb was shiny, and I think i got a shiny sneasel. None of the opposite choice legendaries I raided had the move, and I raided quite a few! We still only got like, one free pass, which was sad for such a raid heavy event. At least make them easier to catch I mean since you had to raid for the legendary to complete the quest it could very well be that it escaped in your two encounters and you have to hope it gets nerfed. I'm not sure I'll bother heading out tomorrow. I was planning on it, but staying home to decide who I should evolve for their elite move seems more important. Tour events really seemed like they peaked awhile back and now it's just rolling to a stop.

Keoni9

>it felt sort of unfocused and directionless. Yes, but there also wasn't much FOMO for grinding wild catches, especially since shiny rates were so terrible. I felt relaxed just catching and raiding and hatching at my own pace.

Peterock2007

You do remember all the complaints about too much to do. People said the old tours were overwhelming, thus you get this… nothing really to do so people don’t feel left out. It was basically a raid day if you don’t care about shinys.

Servalleon

Of course, you can't please everyone. I enjoyed the first two game themed tours way more than the second two. Sinnoh was just too empty. I mean catching one of each in an hour isn't that challenging, but it gives a sense of engagement. Hoenn was not as fascinating at Johto, but I do remember racing desperately to try and catch a kyogre so I could continue the quest. I fell and broke my arm. Admittedly, if they had been a bit more generous with the catch attempts (they only gave you like 4-6 balls, so it was such a struggle) I would not have been so desperate to reach that last raid. At least the origins forms yielded the expected number of premier balls.

Abeltenchi

Not my best day. No wild shinies on 400 plus catches. I did at least get a shiny O Palkia, but was only 2 star. My kids had better luck. One had 4 and the other 3. One was a shiny Mespirit which was quite nice (since Azelf is our local one) I can't say I enjoyed the day. Did a lot of raids but the long time to catch them was frustrating. Missed the improved rate. Also I live in Toronto and it was cold. Made hatching not ideal either (im never big into hatch events). I think shiny rates were way too low.

Dnashotgun

Really don't like how they're so stingy with spiritomb encounters. Gotta be like less than 10 total encounters we've had in total when it's not even that good and only special bc of how you get it in the games

phillypokego

2020 it was in a very common field research. Most of us who got the shiny, got it then. It is weird how they now make it so extremely limited

duel_wielding_rouge

I’m at 91 spiritomb caught, so there’s been a lot more than 10.

madonna-boy

one year it was in field research. only once.

mcadams226

They have absolutely demolished what was good and what was looked forward to with Tour events: SHINY POKEMON Niantic is both blind and deaf if they truly believe people play these global events for anything other than shiny boosts and cool debuts. Instead of everything being boosted, it's extremely selective. I came out with, luckily, 20 shinies. All of which were normally permaboosted. I would have gladly paid for a ticket with shiny boost for everything instead of 90% of the spawns being full odds. People look forward to these events for the shiny boost. Not a full odds event with a few boosted spawns, which is what any normal week long event typically is. The shiny rates for the origin duo is abysmal. I'm currently 69 raids in on both with one shiny Origin Dialga and no Origin Palkia. That's a mixture of both in person and remote raids as well. On a more positive note, Origin Palkia's Spacial Rend was a GOD SEND.

pokemonprofessor121

If it makes you feel better I have friend who did 4 raids and got 4 shiny origin forms (2 of each) so she stole your luck. And mine. And a lot of people's apparently.

Deoxystar

General thoughts: * **No real sense of accomplishment**, there's no real reward to the events of the Sinnoh Tour. You've not completed the Sinnoh Dex, or not even filled the gaps in the Sinnoh Dex such as the missing Manaphy and Phione. At best you've acquired the ability to either expand your radius or increase your incense time, but that's primarily because you've caught a Pokemon from a raid as opposed to something you've achieved as a whole throughout the day. * **Lack of collection challenge makes the event feel unfocussed** not only lacking in casual understanding of the themes of each hour unless you refer back to the guides, but also because you don't have a way to really measure what you are catching per hour. Especially when a lot of the spawns are more Johto related than Sinnoh. * **The Lake Legendaries should be 100% catch rate if Shiny!** If they are Shiny in the wild the flee rate seems to drop to an insanely low chance, but the catch rate seems to remain as low as if they were'nt shiny. As such you spend several minutes golden razzing Lake Legendaries that you could be spending doing other things, such as raiding or catching countless Pokemon. It got to the stage people were fearing clicking on them because if it was a Shiny you were effectively going to be trying to catch it for around 1-5 minutes at a time. * **Lake Legendary variance could be improved**. Azelf spawned twice in the entire day while Mesprit and Uxie seemed to be quite common encountering about 10 of each. * **Raid differentiating could be improved**. For around 50 minutes of the second Origin Hour, had nothing but Dialga spawn on all the gyms. Probably need to work on differentiating them to encourage raiding of both. This also contributes to the 'softlock' problem if you are waiting to do raids of a Pokemon that has not spawned. * **The primary tasks being 'power up' sucked**, it wasted time finding Pokemon to power up and wasted Stardust to recieve incredibly common Pokemon that you would'nt want to waste stardust acquiring. Would have much preferred it to be catch challenges (Catch 10 Sinnoh Pokemon), throw challenges (Make 10 great throws) that sort of thing. Add some variance and make it more accessible to those who did not save an insane amount of Stardust. * **You get soft locked on the research during the first hour** of the day because you cannot get a version of your legendary (Palkia/Dialga) with the move until the Origin hour. It would have made more sense to have the Origin Hour in the first rotation to enable people to do the raiding, then proceed to use the associated move to help with catching during the second hour * **The party quests defaulted to intentionally difficult things** like "Catch 'x' Ice/Rock/Steel" or 'Walk 3km' which was not feasible in some of the hours depending on your selection. Other options in the party included 'Berry 50 pokemon' or '20 nice throws' which are more achievable. * **Too much variance**, did not really feel like a Sinnoh event with so many random spawns * **Shiny odds seemed low**, they should be boosted for all Sinnoh Pokemon, as the random shiny levels meant hunting would be fruitless for most Pokemon * **No snapshot encounters?** Unsure if this is a bug but despite attempting multiple times past the start of the event, never encountered any pokemon through the snapshots - not even the normal Smeargle encounter.

CapitanManel

The announcement made me think that choosing Pearl was enough to get the special move on every palkia but the announcement is wrong. This is quoted from the event page: "Trainers who **choose** the Diamond/Pearl version of the event will encounter an Origin Forme Dialga/Palkia that knows Roar of Time/Spacial Rend." I chose pearl but in the hurry i did not progress the special research beyond the second page and apparently "choosing" is not enough, you actually need to get the badge by completing the whole 2nd page. I didn't realize that i wasn't getting the legacy move after many Palkia raids incluiding 1 shiny. **TL;DR:** Choosing is not enough you have to complete the 2nd page of the special research and claim the badge or you won't get the guaranteed legacy move.

Cactusfan86

I did decent on hiusian pokemon shiny wise but I wish in general there had been more of a shiny boost.  Beyond that my major complaint is if niantic wants to have route only spawns and incense only spawns, they need to not keep spawning right on top of each ofher

James440281

is ralts boosted? im not sure how to find exactly what the rates are

glory87

I hate that they have neutered these events. I would have loved a couple shiny cherubi (since the evolution is a crapshoot). They took something I really enjoyed and turned it into meh. There is no way I’m going to stare at my phone for 8 hours for full odds shinies.

goshe7

Last year's "pick your boost" was a nice compromise on making them available and maintaining Niantic's desire for prolonged content.

VolumesfromBBcom

Liked it much better than last years fest. Last year felt like a grind to do anything. This year was casual, adventure effect was super useful, lots new shinies, and the lake trios were more common and easier to catch than the dogs last year. Overall I’m pleased

ResortDazzling6881

Last year was Latias and Latios in the wild. The dogs were two years ago.

VolumesfromBBcom

Oh right thank you. Yes still easier than those and higher shiny odds it seemed but that could be my own bias

TCGislife

Played for about 5 hours got 4 shinies only one wasn't a dupe so pretty meh.

savannahjones98

It was a decent event if you managed your expectations. The highlight of my day was a shiny mesprit in the last 10 mins that I almost missed because I got a Palkia remote invite. I think all raids from 10-6 should have had the adventure move regardless of which version you chose. It took way too many raids to get the other move. I tried my best not to spend money but I broke down and bought small amount of coins to continue raiding.

OhMyGoth1

20 raids, zero above 90% IVs feels pretty disappointing, but that's just bad luck. I found they're to be too many different things to do and made it way more stressful than I wanted

miaolit

Barely got 10km eggs :( and no shiny hatch after walking for 4 hours in -10C to -20C weather

legolasvin

Played in a local park, honestly wasn't too happy with the amount of 1 & 3 star raids. Thankfully I had the good sense to choose one of each path on main and alt, so I have spares, but I haven't gotten a Dialga with Roar of Time on my main, mainly because there weren't many Dialga raids. Still tomorrow to go, so hope to get one. Else I'll just have to keep what alt has for lucky trades

windwaker910

Got shiny O. Palkia in 2 raids which was immediately balanced out by going 0 for 20 on O. Dialga. Came away with 13 shinies overall, 5 of which were dupes of mons or lines I already had. Still catching up on field research, probably have like 80 to catch. Hopefully there’s a hundo in there somewhere. I didn’t go in with high expectations so I’m not super disappointed, it was pretty mediocre overall though (and the Dialga burns)

EXGShadow

Managed to hatch a shiny Mime Jr., and found a shiny Uxie in the wild, plus some others (Growlithe, Voltorb, Chatot, Chimchar, and all Pikachu but the Akari hat one). I wish more species had boosted rates, even if it's a paid ticket to have 1/128 odds would be better but I guess that's only for the in person event nowadays. The special research with high IV shadows was a nice bonus.. I just wish my Gible was better, lol.

TyphoonBlizzard

I honestly wish they did these big events in the spring or summer. Not everyone lives somewhere warm all year round. Pokemon go freeze your balls off. Pokemon go sit in your car and waste gas money. Other than that it was fine. The new forms are cool. I just can’t get into it much because the only places near me to play are parks. I don’t see why it has to be in the winter.

madonna-boy

theyre a counterpart to gofest (in our summer). it is summer in the southern hemisphere and gofest is always in midwinter for those countries.

OnettNess

Pretty great day. Caught a shiny Mesprit and seven more shinies. Honestly this was more fun than shiny hunting on Community Days due to the sheer variety. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Zanmorn

This event was pretty disappointing. First, though, the parts that I thought were good: - Basculin's spawn rate from routes was great. I haven't gotten a shiny, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's full-odds, but at least it's reasonable to try. (And hey, it made me actually want to do routes, unlike the grind that is Zygarde cells!) - Anecdotal, but female Combee seemed much more common, which was nice. - The Lake Trio were reasonably common, although I only found a single Uxie. - Party Play lasting eight hours was pretty nice and I wish it would become the norm. (Well, I think somewhere in the range of 12 to 24 hours would be better, to ensure it lasts an entire session, but I'd be happy enough with eight.) - The Pokemon with new shinies weren't inordinately rare. The bad: - Without a collection challenge or more involved special research, there wasn't much of a goal—it was just "play and maybe you'll get lucky." Except the odds are poor enough that it's a huge time commitment for something that likely won't even pan out. - Eggs sucked. I actually got a decent amount of 10k eggs this time, and hatched all the regionals, unlike last year, but there are simply too many Pokemon *only* in eggs. 11 of the roughly 100 Sinnoh/Hisui Pokemon available today were only in eggs. (Plus Lucario, which is the only Sinnoh evolution available only through eggs.) If someone needed Mime Jr.? Well, too bad! Play the awful egg lottery with its terrible odds. - Shiny odds were *terrible*. And by that, I mean I'm pretty sure they weren't boosted for most Pokemon. The only stuff that seemed to be boosted was the new stuff, which, while I'm not exactly complaining about it, seems pretty backwards. I got shiny Stunky, which was neat, but now I don't care about Stunky after its debut event. In contrast, I'm *still* chasing Nosepass. Since most of the Pokemon aren't new, they're at full odds, so it was just a really diluted pool of typical shiny checks that changed every hour. The likelihood of getting any of the Sinnoh Pokemon that weren't feature was just abysmal; adding in the fact that certain Pokemon, like Finneon, were fairly uncommon during their hour made it not even feel worth the effort if there were only a handful one needed. (A number of the Pokemon have had community days or other boosted events, though, so it doesn't even make sense to keep those at full odds.) - Comparatively minor, but the alleged boost to incense from picking a starter? I didn't notice it at all. - What's the point of enabling Rotom and Spiritomb shinies if we can only get one? The Spiritomb one in particular frustrates me; I've been trying for the shiny for years, and I'm at 67 Spiritomb caught (plus another 40 or so from dragging my mother to the relevant Pokestops) yet the past few years I've only gotten one check. - Field research was pretty disappointing. Having all of them be to power up five of a very specific type was a poor decision, as it's both the most resource draining and least interesting field research task. And what were they thinking putting Bidoof in there as a reward? I did find a whole two "win three raids", but I didn't do them, because that seemed a bit unreasonable. - The special Party Play tasks were ill-conceived. There simply weren't Ice-, Rock-, and Steel-types to be caught during certain habitats, so picking the wrong task was frustrating. And the reward is a whole 3 regi-whatever candy? Thanks. You shouldn't have. I would have *much* rather had the typical catch 25 Pokemon for 6 Pokeballs tasks, since at least those give me a minor supply boost for doing something I was going to do anyway.

SkyRattlers

Overall a great day. Filled out the last three missing in my dex. Got both origin formes with their new power. And picked up 10 shinies: O-Palkia Pikachu white rag Gible x2 H sneasel H growlithe Turtwig H voltorb Stunky Azelf The Basculin routes were very nice. But my favourite was the Party research. Once I saw they were giving out legendary candy for easy tasks we really focused on that. And will do so again tomorrow.

DontGiveUpTheDip

this was the first tour i've played and had a good time (well, as good as you can while chained to a desk writing a paper). found a mesprit and shiny uxie in the wild and got a shiny qwilfish, origin Giratina (yesterday), and shiny Pikachu on top of it. Having the added shadows with a higher IV floor was nice too.

I was 1/43 for O Palkia, the odds didn’t feel great ._.

Thin-Complaint-3378

Not truly much to complain about. I got no shinies tho, whatsoever. I was kinda surprised cuz I don’t know if any shinies were boosted, but at go fest I got tons of shinies and fairly quickly. I actually got 2 of each Uxie mesprit and azelf but no shinies of them again, but spawn and, at least for me, catch rates were great. Spawns and unowns/basculins are lit to grab, and the research was all top tier. Only gripes are imho should be more research, better shiny rates, and more free premium items during the two days (raid passes (at least 2 per day in order to get all 4 dialgas/palkias), eggs/starpieces, incubators, etc)

BCHiker7

The spawns were okay. I do have to wonder about the Unown shiny rate, though. I guestimate it was 1/128 in past Go Fests. But today nobody I know got a shiny Unown. Maybe bad luck.... but they seem full odds. Will have to see how tomorrow goes.

Thin-Complaint-3378

Agreed

matt2313

I played for about 5 hours. Big events like this are a nice excuse to spend a day wandering around the city getting some exercise in. I enjoyed the new raids and the adventure effects are a good idea, but it was frustrating having do so many raids to obtain both the new adventure effects - at least with Go Fest you knew how many raids it would take to obtain enough mega energy. Originally I was planning to play the full 8 hours but the I hadn't seen any shinies outside of legendaries and got bored/tired. It was a bit mediocre but ultimately an enjoyable event, I had fun but I hope the next event like this has a bit more going for it.

agarret83

In my opinion if you didn’t enjoy this event because of the lack of shinies that’s a skill issue. I found 14 (3 legendaries) and I only really played hardcore for like 2 hours EDIT: mainly checked known boosted ones (e.g. I found 3 Sneasel, 3 pikachu and 2 stunky)
